Eggnog for the Agog PV Freya Thomas Abandoned

‘Twas almost the season. The season to be jolly, merry, and happy. Well, it was always the season to be happy. But it was almost the season to be happi-er. Arc still could not believe how quickly it all had come around. It felt like it was only yesterday the young Eagle came back for a new term at Hogwarts. And now it was almost time for another holiday and he could return back to Wimbledon. That would also mean that it was the time for eggnog. Of course, how could you survive winter without it?! Well, some people might survive, but they were certainly missing out in life.

And you just had to make one on your own. His mother always said that, ‘if you have never made an eggnog, then you never truly had eggnog.’ That was the sad truth. Store-bought eggnog was just not the same. Nuh-uh. No, siree. Last year, Arc had to patiently wait until he was back at Spencer Hill before he could drink one, but not this year. This year, he was going to make one in Hogwarts. Yes. At school. Consequences be damned. Thankfully, he could do all this legally. Professor Price agreed to lend him the Potions Classroom -and the equipment in it- as long as he cleaned up afterwards. Bless his kind soul. He was certainly going to get a portion of the eggnog.

Anyway, he was ready. Arc already got all the ingredients beforehand. He had nine hundred millilitres (900 mL) of whole milk, a (1) vanilla bean, six (6) eggs, three hundred grams (300g) of sugar, four grams (4g) of cinnamon, two grams (2g) of cloves, six grams (6g) of ginger, five grams (5g) of nutmeg, and six hundred millilitres (600 mL) of heavy cream placed tidily on one side of the table. Two wooden ladles, one bigger than the other, a whisk, a sieve, a bowl, a jar, some glass phials, and a mortar and pestle were set on the other. All the dark-haired boy needed to do to get the ball rolling was to light up the cauldron.

He couldn't help but wonder though. What would one think if they saw him here alone in the Potions Classroom? Would they be interested? Would he scared them off? Would they join him? Eh. He would not mind a companion. Cooking was always good for the soul. Cooking together even more so.

Well. Whatever. Let’s get this party started.
