General The Hufflepuff Table 2019-2020

Robin looked at the girl that was her age and smiled.

"Hello! My name is Robin! Oh, I just hope to make friends and pass my classes! My mother was a Hufflepuff so I have a sort of legacy that I have to continue, so that is sort of nerve-racking!" Robin giggles. Robin was happy that someone was at least talking to her. She was starting to feel as if her smiles were not friendly and more creepy. Robin took a sip of the water cup she had in front of her.

"How are you enjoying Hogwarts so far? Are you excited about the placement of your house? I just can't wait to start classes! How about you? I know not everyone likes school but these classes will be way different than the maths I had at the school before!

Robin decided to shut her mouth before any more word vomit came out of it. She hoped she wasn't being too talkative. Robin took a another sip of water just so she had something to do other than talk too much.

Amalia had been content to let others enjoy themselves, but she didn't mind the other girl approaching her. It was nice to have someone to talk to actually, she could never spark a conversation on her own. From what she could tell, this new girl was actually rather kind, and she was just as new as she was.

"Yeah, I uh, I guess we all could use some friendly faces. Oh that made no sense! I mean, it is nice to see a friendly face around here." There she went again, stumbling over her words. Just the Amy Usual, as she began to call it.

If Amalia had to guess, she would say that this girl, oh what was her name? Did the girl even introduce herself? But she would guess that she could be a student chairperson. Wait, did wizard schools even have a student government? She knew that some schools in the "muggle" world had student governments, but what about here? Why did this place have to be so confusing!

The girl's next question caught her off guard. Did she plan on being in Hufflepuff? She couldn't tell her she was a muggle born, but how else could she explain her lack of knowledge of the school?

"I, uh, guess I didn't have any real preference. My parents never taught me much on the school. Never explained why they kept it from me." It wasn't a complete lie. She was never taught on the school. And they never physically explained why not, even though she knew the answer. So it worked out just fine!

Hufflepuff, it was what the Sorting Hat cried out, which is truly when Saoirse's nerves kicked in, but when she heard the joyful cheers from the table she realized she could actually manage to reach the table. Hufflepuff, it has nice ring to it. Although there were a lot of them, and after what had happened on the platform she decided to just smile, sit down, and let everybody else do what they want to do.
All she did was simply take a few bites of food at a time, I mean that did slightly bother her but she was still trying to calm her nerves so it would have to do...for now at least.
Saoirse just tried to listen to other conversations from the tables around her. Friendly conversation, arguments seemingly on the verge of becoming heated, the newspapers, class and studies, Quidditch, it was surprising she could even hear any actual words with noise the all in the room made. Finally she had stop her peeping in, it was making her quite nervous, especially about classes. It was reassuring she didn't star classes till a week and a half in, but she would start them...before she knew it. Instead she simply went back to her plate, unsatisfied with her reactions on this day.

"Hmmm...yes...Im sure it will be this house...Hufflepuff!" the sorting hat echoed.
A look of disappointment rushed to James' face. No way...he wasn't one of 'em badgers... But they said the sorting hat never lied. Was it possible he was destined to being a Hufflepuff?

He walked down the stairs slowly, his face in disbelief. His father had told him some stuff about the houses...The Gryffindor were brave, the Slytherin cunning, the Ravenclaw smart...and the Hufflepuff? They were friendly, yeah, but that didnt really seem to match him at all.

He sat down at the table now. People cheered at him, but he didnt feel too great. He put some turkey in his plate and started eating it, looking down so people wouldn't talk to him.

Maybe he just didnt get many opportunities to make friends? Maybe if he had been raised in a big city with lots of people he would be kinder to others. But now, that didnt matter. He knew this was gonna be a long year, and there was no point in crying over spilled milk.

Tomorrow he would have classes. Magic classes, which he didn't know much about.
"Just ye wait 'till mum hears 'bout this he mumbled to himself

Kaden had never been more nervous in his life. There he sat, on a rickety stool, with a thousands of eyes staring straight at him. "Merlin.." He mumbled under his breath as the professor stepped forth. He'd seen this done countless times since he'd stepped foot into the Great Hall, and now was his time. As he glanced out again, he'd felt the pumpkin pasty he'd eaten on the train ride to Hogwarts, creep it's way back up his stomach. Taking a deep breath, he gulped hard, swallowing down the need to hurl in front of everyone. "Not the best first impression to have, aye Kaden?" He thought to himself as the professor neared closer. Soon he felt a weight upon his head, as he was succumbed in darkness, the hat not quite fitting on his head properly. Kaden tried his best to clear his mind, as he had a conversation with the hat in his head. Merlin, he was talking to a hat! If he'd done this a year earlier he'd surely be admitted into the looney bin. After what seemed like an eternity the hate finally spoke the word that would forever be his Hogwarts experience.

"HUFFLEPUFF!" He heard the hat project across the Great Hall. Suddenly, an uproar of cheering and clapping from the far left table erupted. Once the hat was finally taken off his head, he took shaky steps towards his new life. Moving swiftly, he made his way towards the table, just glad to be done with that experience. Taking a seat on the bench in between two older looking lads, he breathed out a sigh of relief as he was greeted warmly. Slowly but surely, Kaden fell back into his old ways, easily conversing with the people around him. Albeit a rocky start, Kaden couldn't describe the feeling he had in his chest, as he talked with what he hoped to be, his new extended family.

Annie kept clapping and cheering with the rest of the Hufflepuff table, proud to add more members to their giant family. A few faces cheerily walked over, some were nervous, some excited. One boy in particular caught her attention when he kind of seemed in disbelief before looking down to avoid eye contact. The girl made her way over to him as he sat down and started picking at some turkey.

Annie cleared her throat to get his attention. "I promise I'm not going to be one of those overly cheery witches and ask you all sorts of questions until the point where you get pissed off but what's with the face when you got picked for Hufflepuff?" She shrugged. "People always think we are weak because we are "friendly" or "shy" but we are also brave like Gryffindor and just as intelligent as Ravenclaw, and I can sure as heck say that I've met some sly witches and wizards that are Hufflepuffs rather than Slytherin. Look here, we are the best of all the worlds so don't you ever go thinking those lies, just be yourself."

A frown appeared on her face as she got very serious with her words before lighting back up in a moment. Ah James was it? My name is Annie Morgan, 2nd year Hufflepuff Chaser on our Qudditch team, pleasure to meet you." Her smile turned crooked and she blushed, realizing she probably attracted a lot of attention to herself and never gave a chance to the boy to talk. She puffed up her cheeks in embarrassment before shoveling some green beans onto her plate to distract herself.

David sat quietly amongst his new peers. The school seemed so huge compared to the muggle school he attended when he was younger. Everything about this castle was a culture shock. David's mom never told him about the magical world, and he was amazed by things he was sure the other students were used to. David tried not to get noticed by his fellow students. The kids at his old school use to make fun of him, and David was a little worried that he would be made fun of for not knowing anything about the wizaarding world. David picked at his food but he was to nervous to eat. "I can't do this." He thought as his stomach turned and twisted making him feel sick. The dining hall was loud and filled. The noise was making David feel even more nervous. "Why put the students in different houses?" David said out loud. David's face went red as he realized he spoke out loud instead of thinking it. Dread washed over the tall curly haired kid, and he was beginning to wish he could just hide. "Maybe I can just leave. I'll go back to normal school and just pretend this is all a bad dream." He thought as he looked around frantically.

The moment, Saoirse settled into her seat a boy slid in next to her. Tall, not that thin but that not built, he was obviously frantic. It was almost interesting but saddening to watch him pick at his food, going this way and that way, he couldn't even eat could he? At some point he must have stopped and admitted defeat because he stopped for a moment, or he was freaking out even more Saoirse, do something.! She took a deep breath and tried to focus back on her food, this kid wasn't her probably but she still felt sorry for him, it was the same she felt during her meeting on the train.
"Why put the students in different houses?"
The boy spoke up, becoming filled with blood-red blush. Saoirse took to much pity on the boy and tapped on his shoulder, "first time, eh?" She spoke, hoping her Irish accent wasn't that strange. She awaited for the boys response, trying not get antsy or annoyed, because that would entirely defeat her cause of talking to him. Instead she sat as still as she could, trying not to feel uncomfortable being so statue-like it was different to say the least but all in the name of making new friends.

Kerry sat at the hufflepuff table and sighed. It was morning and he was wearing his yellow and black uniform with the robe overtop of it. The shock of being sorted into Hufflepuff had started to ease off, but he was still unsure how to proceed from here. He had a lot of reading to catch up on and had sent an owl to his father requesting all sorts of books on Hufflepuff. He hadn't expected this at all.

Sitting at the yellow-lined table, he looks over at the other students and nods sleepily. "I agree... I mean I get the house thing, that's fine and all... but a hat that determines your future? How does it know? Has the hat ever made a mistake?"

He started to dig into his breakfast that had been delivered by the house elves and exhaled deeply. He would either have to continue being down on himself, or he would have to accept what fate had sent him. It was time to choose and he picked at his food, knowing he had to choose the latter. Sitting and wallowing wasn't going to be good for anybody and he had to do his best to make the most of the destiny he hadn't been prepared for.

Lindsey sat at the table. She looked around at the other hufflepuffs chatting with each other. She has always been a little shy when it comes to new things or new people. This is a whole new world to her. This place was better then she imagined. But she was still nervous. She thought to her self. "Will they like me? Am I gonna be a outcast? Will I make friends? Would if they hate me? " she then remembered what her father had told her " step outside of your comfort zone you could make the best friends or the worst enemies but you'll never know unless you talk to them". She started working up the courage to say something anything. She looked around again and thought to her self " it can't be that bad I mean they all look so kind after all it is one of our traits ok I'll speak I mean I have to sooner or later right" she opened her mouth to say hi then the food showed up " I'll try again later maybe then I'll get a word out" she thought to her self. She then filled up her plate and started eating.
