My Baby
Ruby was currently in the Ravenclaw common room, and was bored. She wasn’t hungry, and for once, she wasn’t reading. What should I do? Then it clicked. I could visit Kiyo, my owl! Kiyo was the 1 year old female tawny owl who she just bought. She’s probably feeling lonely, and I could send an owl to my friend! She removed her nightgown and changed into a navy blue sweater and a brown miniskirt. It was Saturday, so she was allowed to wear casual attire. Then she got her bag filled with books and clothes and school supplies. Wait, footwear. She put on green socks and her blue sneakers. After struggling to tie them and hence wasting 29 minutes of her time, she finally stood up straight and ran outside of the dormitory, eager to see Kiyo. I’m coming! she whispered to herself. After accidentally slipping because she was not watching her step, she went to the owlery.
After finally finding Kiyo, she patted the owl on the head. It hooted cheerfully and nipped her finger. Ow! You mischievous little thing! Since she also had her bag, she got parchment and her quill. Her friend lived in Manchester, and that was quite a distance from the Scottish Highlands, and that was where Hogwarts was. She quickly wrote a very long letter to her friend. Kiyo looked interestedly at her. Finally! Done. She put the letter in an envelope. Then, she got string and hastily tied the envelope to Kiyo’s leg. Kiyo, having been used for letters in the Menagerie, understood, and held out a scaly leg. Safe travels! Deliver this to Benjamin Wagner, in Manchester. Safe travels. Kiyo hooted in reply and soared out the window.

Word count: 248Simon had been sitting here for too long. Should she send the letter? Should she not? Both options could lead to consequenses. She sank down against the post, unsure of what to do. The owls weren't helping much.
She made a decision. She grabbed the string from her pocket, and tied it through the hole in the envelope. A few owls flew over, and she chose a barn owl, giving it a quick head rub. Please, let this turn out good. She thought, as she tied the not to the owl's leg.
"All right, bud, ready?" She said. "To Laurie Manning, Margate, England."
The owl took off instantly, swooping around the room. The very second that it had left, Simon regretted her decision. What have I done?
She sank the the ground, tears dotting her eyes. What was she going to do? he sank her head to her knees, hugging them close.
She heard the crunch of the straw in the owlery. She looked up. Did they hear?Simon wondered who it could have been.
"Ow! You mischievous little thing!" Whoever this was, it was a girl, and she had an owl of her own. Simon moved so she could be behind the post, not to hide, just to be... concealed.
Simon listened to them. The owl Hooted a couple times, before Simon heard the address. More crunching, and Simon assumed the girl was gone.
Boy, was she wrong.
The girl noticed her instantly. "Uhh... Hi." Simon said.
