Cursa McCoire @Colin McCoire
Casey leaned back and forth on the branch he had perched on as he surveyed the land for trouble. He saw Emily had casted a lighting charm, as did her friend, but it seemed there was nothing to be uncovered through either effort. As for Casey, nothing caught his eye either despite the view he had.

He slumped on the branch. If nothing was actively happening then what the hay was with the dance card and it's cryptic message?

His eyes fell on Colin. Unless it was meant to be obvious or something, the boy never struck Casey as the kind to get hagslugs twice, let alone once. Colin was nuts, but not that bad surely.

Just as well I told him to keep his smoochin' to himself then...

Emily and hagslugs wasn't a combination he wanted to picture. And if Colin really was enchanted by her, then he would think the same thing.

"Case! Get down here!"

Casey looked down. "What's up-- The hell?!"

Cursa's flaming red hair was already a sight that drew attention but Colin somehow managed to outdo him by literally setting himself on fire!

Was now a good time to retract what Casey thought about Colin earlier? Because all of a sudden, hagslugs sounded a lot more probable, especially when Cursa was exclaiming that Colin's become a human torch twice now.

What did he mean twice??

Did Casey even want to know at this point?

Casey hastily climbed down the tree and dashed back over. By the time he got there, Colin had managed to wriggle out of his blazing shirt and get drenched by water Emily had threw over him. Casey ran a hand through his hair. Only at Hogwarts would things escalate to this kind of level.

"The frick happened?" Casey felt like he blinked halfway through everything that was happening and missed what he didn't see.

A few mutterings from Emily's older friend gave off a new layer of suspicion to the predicament at hand. Casey narrowed his eyes and went fishing for his dance card in his pocket before lifting it out and tearing it into two.

"Screw this...I ain't gettin' burned by these things. Now I'm startin' to see why Hogwarts events are often called out as being cursed. Right Red?"

But Cursa's attention was elsewhere. Casey followed his eyes to Colin's figure, who only now realised just how... Decorative his body was. There were scars and marks painted across him, too many that Casey wasn't even sure if there was any patch of unmarked skin left of him. He felt oddly impressed. Colin was the textbook definition of a human rubber band - bounce it off the walls as many times as you like and it'll still be just as resilient as the last attempt.

"Sheesh, Colin... You look like you've been through the wars and more," Casey commented as he gave Colin a once over. "And Mom thought I reckless... She'd be eatin' those words if she saw you, McCoire".

Japanese -English - Thoughts

Hikari just shook his head at Akari's offer to bake him some sweets, not bothering to put words to it. Akari would get it. He always did.

He appreciated the thought though. It was such a very Akari thing to do, quick to offer, and it caught Hikari in the same way it always did, between gratitude and discomfort. Hikari had no doubt it would turn out... edible at the very least, maybe even taste good, Akari had that strange kind of luck.

But he could not, would not, say yes. His upbringing had etched into him a quiet refusal: do not ask for more, do not expect to be treated specially, and definitely do not accept any kind of kindness that cannot be returned in full. And Hikari knew he had no way to return something like this, something done so freely, without condition. So he kept his hands, and his thanks to himself, hoping Akari would not mistake his restraint for rejection.

Hikari had barely lifted the cup to his mouth for a second sip when he noticed the sudden change in Akari's demeanor. "What wind?" he asked with a frown, noticing how his friend's eyes seemed to suddenly blank out. Akari's eyes never did that. His eyes shifted to the pink sparkling liquid in his hand, and then to the one in his own, and a shiver of dread ran down his back. Were the drinks spiked? Hikari didn't feel bad himself, so he supposed not all of them were. He quickly removed the drink from Akari's hand, and when the boy moved towards the Hogwarts table, Hikari followed close behind.

A boy's sleeve had caught fire.

Hikari placed a hand on Akari's arm in quiet warning, because if he knew his friend, he would go over to the burning cloth, touch it and burn himself, and Hikari was definitely not having that here, now. Akari muttered something about pretty fires, and that remark did absolutely nothing to reassure Hikari. Okay, it's confirmed, he's definitely not alright."Veen-geh-ahn-s...? Vehn-gaunce? Veen-jeen-s?" Akari was muttering, which drew Hikari's attention, for the second time that evening to the dance cards around their wrists.

The writing had changed, this time a sparkling "Vengeance" written across it. "Ven-gens" he corrected gently, studying the writing, his curiosity finally spiked, "It means um... revenge." Hikari figured the shift from English to Japanese would be best, since he wasn't sure if Akari knew the English meaning of the word. And Hikari was bad at explaining.

Something had shifted somewhere.

XXXAkari watched in disappointment as Hikari shook his head, pouting just a little bit. "Okay," he sighed. Still gonna show up at his dormitory sometime with some pastries, though! He still had to try! He made an offer and he would fulfill it... and even if Hikari refused when he showed up, Akari could eat them. So it was a win-win either way. Perfect.

XXXJust before Akari started walking away, Hikari took his drink away for some reason. "Hey, I didn't even finish half of that!" He frowned. A waste of delicious beverage, this was. The other boy then prevented him from getting too close to the burning shirt by putting a hand on his arm. "You're not my chaperone," he protested, a scowl forming on his face for the first time that evening. But he stepped back and let the fire be extinguished-- along with a good dose of water on the shirt's owner, apparently. Akari tried to avoid the splash damage with a long-suffering sigh.

XXXHikari corrected his pronunciation, explaining the new word inscribed on the card. Akari held it closer to his face, squinting slightly. "Oh, revenge. Cool. That's a weird thing to put on a card, though! I think the cards are mad at us. That's probably why that boy got set on fire. He disrespected the cards." He nodded as if that were the most logical thing to assume. So, the clouds aren't mad at me, then? It was a good thing the fire hadn't spread to his flowy sleeves yet. Yet. Ooh, that's not a good thought. It would look pretty good, though. Flaming sleeves! Akari eyed the smoldering pile of cloth with a contemplative expression.

XXXAnother students ripped his own card, for some reason, and Akari tried not to protest, another frown forming on his face. Hey, these things are really pretty and elaborate! Don't destroy good art! He patted his card as if to reassure a cat. "Don't worry," he told the piece of paper with a smile. "You're in good hands, Mr. Fiery Vengeance!"
Action: Talking to @Hikari Fujimoto and progressively getting weirder under the effects of the drink. Trying to avoid the water splash from @Emily Shephard(is that a roll?) and examining his card even closer.

MODERATION POST — ROUND 7.

As though sensing the looming horror that would quickly unfold within the once serene Garden of Eden, the bard music quickly shifts to a much more eerie tune, the drums vastly beating in the background as the melodic hymns of a flute entice a thick air of suspense. Amidst the chaos, one patron, @Cirrus Nam, casts a gruelling spell out of nowhere, almost ascending another, @Akari Kabukimono, to the ground. Fortunately, despite the earlier patron finding himself intoxicated following a few sips of the sparkling sharbat, he evaded the impromptu attack, despite his now slurry speech and stumbling self.

Whilst lightly aflame, the patron who found himself subjected to a malicious attack, @Colin McCoire, succeeds in casting his buttons off his shirt, unfortunately subjecting our esteemed guests to his semi-nude upper body, an eyesore to some; with the patron akin to him, @Cursa McCoire, eradicating the small flame casted in his direction, notably, at the dance card which was once attached to his wrist. Instead, the attention turns to the group which had formed, diverting from serious matters. A noble patron, who had succumb to such a horrid state, forcing paranoia on both herself and those around her, @AngelFyre McCubbin, subjects an offensive blindfolding spell to the assailant, @Meiyu Xiang, as though it would be enough to keep the young girl at bay and focus on less trivial manners, such as the earlier demands of the dance card and the prophecy forecasted to her. Despite the attempts made by another patron, @Emily Shephard, with tossing precious water on a dog like creature, the charm she casts succeeds in drying the poor fellow. Yet, the
laissez-faire attitude exhibited by all attendees had only resulted in a catastrophic event.

The flame which had earlier spread onto the once serene assortment of flowers, had now found themselves engulfed in flames. The proximity to trees and flammable material outdoors had only aided in the spread which the patrons had failed to notice or prevent. Within minutes, destruction followed in-suite. The once adorned Garden of Eden quickly transformed into a scene almost reminiscent to the end of time, thick smoke quickly filled the air as the fire spread, making it difficult to see given the now lack of visibility. It was hot, temperatures sore amidst the cool spring evening, turning a once secluded romantic getaway, into the gates of hell.

Words appeared once more on the dance cards, to those who kept it on and paid attention, neatly engraved in cursive, the card wrote, for the last time;

You all played the role as the forbidden apple, failing to conform to mere requests.
Witness the consequence of of The Fall.

Upon entrance into The Garden of Eden, each player will receive a "dance card", a RP opportunity for players to engage with. Within the dance card, names of whom your character dances with must be recorded, beware of prying eyes should their names not be found within the dance card and they are dancing with your player, as this would be the most scandalous thing to do.

NOTE: The inclusion of dance cards is solely for a RP opportunity, you are not obliged to comply with this, but should you mention it, please ensure the character your character dances with, was included in the dance card.

While feeling down and sorry for herself, Devon continued to play with the sunflower in the pot in front of her. Its delicate stem flowed between her fingers, while her green eyes watched the careful movement. It gave her a distraction, which was very much needed. Something to keep her mind at ease. Even at Ilvermorny, the young Horned Serpent often found her best times of relaxation were within a garden surrounded by plants. Or, at least, had plants nearby.

Devon was the type of girl who frankly didn’t care if her free time was spent in a garden. She liked plants and tried her best to volunteer when she could. She’d throw herself on the ground and play in the grass with the flowers around her. Each movement would gracefully pass through the plants, barely disturbing their peaceful existence. Of course, this was assuming she had free time. Quite frankly, she jumped at the opportunity to join different clubs and organizations at Ilvermorny last year. Any free time that she had … yes, she loved spending it in a garden … and now with one of her more preferred books on Divination.

The distraction appeared to work wonders, as Devon wasn’t paying attention at all to what was going on around her. She didn’t notice the fire at all beforehand. In this instance, unfortunately, being distracted was not a good idea. She had only just looked up from the sunflower in her fingers, to see chaos unfold with … FIRE! It quickly spread around the different flowers and trees in the garden. The empty dance card around her wrist flashed the warning about the fire, and then was quickly replaced by a new message.

Yet, Devon didn’t care about that. She pulled her wand from behind her ear. There was to be plenty of destruction. With the fires building around her, she knew she had to do something. Standing idly by, dumbstruck, wouldn’t work. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself, otherwise. She pointed her wand at a nearby flowerbush that was erupting in flames … one of many. She sadly wouldn’t be able to save everything by herself. But she had to play her part.

With a wave of her wand, she shouted her spell. “Extinguo!”

Trying to contain the flames

Friday, 11 April 2025

A threat of fire on a small card, delivered to everyone who attended the ball - at least the Garden of Eden section, and now a girl delivering fire directed toward Colin. What had Colin done to her that she had to do something so senseless? Perhaps she hadn't been right in mind.

Emily reacted so quickly and Simon was relieved that in practically no time at all Colin was no longer on flames and that was a relief. The girl might not have been a dhampir but those were some super quick dhampir-like reflexes.

Keeping his eyes on the flames before him and ensuring that the no longer got too close to the four, he payed (as always) particular attention to his girl to ensure her safety. This wouldn'the be the time to get an aftershock, so to speak, of her vision and blank out amonst the flames.

Running was an option. It seemed that others in the distance had such an idea. Were they running to get help? Hopefully. Would there even be help to be had? Doubtful. No one knew exactly where school staff was during events such as these that went horrible wrong. In fact, hadn't there been some adults within the Garden? Simon would have scanned around for them but no, his focus was set on AngelFyre and flames.

No longer either did he worry about what may or may not potentially lurk within the shadows around them within the Grounds. Maybe this situation here had been some cause for his unsettledness earlier. He didn't have the gift of sight like his girl but everyone had a hint of intuition within them.

Simon needed to try to keep his girlfriend safe, his friends safe, his school safe. He drew his own wand

With the fire spreading so quickly, Simon focused more on the current situation at hand over what might be lurking withing the shadows, if anything. He drew his own wand and tried a spell. It wasn't used as much as the other water-making spell, but he knew this one could go agains tmagical fires so he pointed his wand outward to the flames and delivered the pressurized water charm. "Aqua Eructo," he stated, hoping that a large flow of pressurized water could be directed to at least push back and contain the flames.

A thousand things happened all at once! Colin didn't know who to turn to first!

"Sheesh, Colin..." said Casey as he and Cursa came over. "You look like you've been through the wars and more. And Mom thought I reckless... She'd be eatin' those words if she saw you, McCoire".

He'd heard Cursa's voice casting the extinguishing charm on his now, sadly, destroyed shirt before, like Casey, commenting on his scars. "Welp. Here comes another stern warning from Ma over burnt up shirts," he sighed. And dear Emily found a pitcher of water and poured that all over him just to make sure all the flames were extinguished!

"You're taking this a lot better than I would've expected. But look at you! You're sopping wet now... Sorry about that..." she said, her cheeks turning red, then pink.

Colin shrugged. "Ach, tis alright lass! I've been through worse!" He barely registered AngelFyre asking about the girl. Colin smiled.

“Colin, take a look over there at that girl. Do you know her?"

Colin blinked. "I- Of course I know her, Fyre! She's Emmi!" Colin gave Emily a smile as she dried him off with her wand. Her eyes seemed to be scanning him for any lingering injuries or wet spots.

"She is the one who cast the Incendio on you. I saw her do it and could not stop it in time," AngelFyre said.

Colin watched Emily intently, his eyes never leaving hers. "Are you sure, Fyre? She's just doused me with water and all! I don't think Emmi would actually set me on fire!" he replied.

Clearly, AngelFyre was not getting the message! "Those feelings of betrayal and anger I mentioned feeling in my vision, I -… I think they might be coming from her. Do you know of any reason she would have a problem with you?”

Colin blinked. Betrayal? Anger? Wait. Colin broke his gaze away from Emily, most reluctantly. AngelFyre wasn't even looking at him. She was looking off somewhere else. It dawned on Colin that just maybe the two of them were reading from completely different libraries! He turned quickly to Emily then followed AngelFyre's gaze.

His right hand reached out to touch Emily's left. A flash of anger coursed through him when he caught sight of the girl. Some idiot first year. Tried to set him on fire? “Something else is going to come. I know it is. We should all be on guard for that, and for any embers that might start a fire,” AngelFyre warned. Colin snarled softly. He'd have to deal with that stupid kid --- he gripped his wand tightly. Not for the first time did he wonder at the ball planners' wisdom in holding an event right before the full moon!

Colin's hand gripped Emily's. Part of him wanted to tear into the kid that cast the spell at him. But he also found that Emily centered him in some way. It was a weird feeling. He'd never experienced it before. He felt like there was an extra rein on the beast within. Something stirred in Colin's heart. He did not want to let this girl go. Not if she had this kind of effect on him!

Emily allowed him to take in AngelFyre's warning. His attention switched focus from the miscreant girl to the situation. Clearly his bestie thought a further calamity was to follow. Colin scanned the area, remaining close to Emily. He caught sight of Casey's dance card thing on the ground. It was torn in half, and he could only see writing on one part.

And then it happened! Colin's nose caught the distinctive scent.

"FIRE!" he cried out.

Quickest of all was Simon. Colin was amazed at how fast he was! Just as the flames leapt up, his wand was aimed and he was casting. Colin followed suit. Naur-an-Edraith pointed towards a different area of burning garden! "Emmi! Make some rain or snow or something! Aqua eructo!" he cast. Twas a good charm to know! Great for pressure washing oneself of caked on mud, and, hopefully, putting out garden party fires!

He heard some other kids taking note of the danger and beginning to fight the fire as well! One sounded like an American kid, casting extinguo. "Keep at it lassie!" he called over to her as she fought the flames. Hopefully they'd have this sorted soon!

Cursa's eyes followed AngelFyre's indication. Sure enough, some girl stood a distance away, her wand out. "What the hell?" Casey complained about how Hogwarts events always turned into clustery pucks. He nodded agreement. He had no idea what hockey pucks had to do with Hogwarts, but one thing his younger friend had right: Hogwarts was a total disaster! They'd nearly been blown up last time he was here. This time his cousin was set on fire.

"I saw it too, AngelFyre," he confirmed. He looked at Colin, who talking some nonsense about Emily. He wasn't even paying attention. Cursa bapped the back of his empty skull. "Colin! Pay attention! Wrong girl!" he hissed into his cousin's ear.

And then it all happened!

Before he could even register the change, the older Hogwarts boy had his wand out! Colin shouted something about another fire! Cursa turned back towards the group, only to see both boys casting water jet spells on the spreading fires! The last thing he wanted was to die in some stupid Hogwarts lunacy, but he also had to do something!

He got out his own wand and jammed it towards one of the fires sprouting up! "Aqua Eructo!" his voice joined the chorus with Colin and the older boy who, he recognsied now, was the same one that had been dancing up in the air with AngelFyre. Finding herself laughing with the second least compatible house for a Hufflepuff was more natural than she'd thought. Being next to Rafal was as light as a summer breeze, allowing you to feel comfortable in the warmth of the environment. He had that scruffy way of speaking, something she'd never seen in a Slytherin, which always gave her the sweetest laughs. In a way, he reminded her of Pam whenever he got nervous, and that was sweet. Despite the hubbub of people, in that moment it seemed like just the two of them, no one more and no one less. Rafal's reaction in the living room to a supposed date had warmed her cheeks. Why did a bunch of jumbled words make her nervous?
"...I mean, unless you want me to?..."
Dates. She'd never learned much about them, and she never thought she cared. Until now. —I think we're still too young to date—. she said softly as she walked beside her. —But I wouldn't turn down a date with you, I like you—. She added with a soft smile.

The atmosphere was now calmer, more natural; people seemed to be enjoying themselves in a completely different way. The atmosphere was relaxed, with fewer people than in the great hall. There was also food and drinks, so she didn't hesitate to take Rafal's sleeve and carefully walk over to the table. She looked at him, smiling softly, and took a plate to serve herself a piece of cake. While she ate a little, she moved a little away from the table so as not to be in the way. —So... snake? Tell me more about you, anything's fine—. Stelle said, looking at him curiously, adjusting her bun, which had become a little uncomfortable with the passage of time. While she waited for an answer, she looked around a bit, searching for a familiar face. Although, to be honest, at that moment she wasn't interested in spending time with anyone else.

After finishing the cake, she cleaned her hands a little so she could adjust her dress, glancing at it momentarily to check that it was okay. But her head was starting to hurt a little. She wasn't used to styling her hair like this, and the passage of time and her lack of experience probably made it more uncomfortable than it should have been. She ran her hands behind her bun, searching for the pins holding it in place. After removing a couple and leaving a few strands free, she looked up at her companion again. —Do you mind if I let my hair down?—. she asked softly out of pure politeness.

Emily began to smile when her little spell helped clean up Colin's soaked form. All of a sudden, dousing him with a jug full of water didn't feel like a big deal anymore, not when Emily was quite literally drying up the evidence. "There we go! That'll help chase away any chances of you catching a cold too!"

AngelFyre was still trying to catch Colin's attention with her concerns over the First Year that started the whole Fire Faff. However, Colin was doing what Emily was starting to realise was something he did a lot... Looking at her. Intensely. She wasn't sure when this habit actually started, but every time his eyes met hers, she would feel compelled to hold his eye contact until he looked away. It was something that tickled Emily pink and it was only until recently that the Huffie never quite realised just how much Colin's powerful eyes had an affect on her. There was nothing but love in his eyes, and while Emily couldn't pin exactly what it was, there was something else in them too.

"She is the one who cast the Incendio on you. I saw her do it and could not stop it in time," AngelFyre insisted on the lanky lad.

"Are you sure, Fyre? She's just doused me with water and all! I don't think Emmi would actually set me on fire!"

Emily's forehead met her palm. Again. Cursa beat her to it when it came to correcting Colin, with a bap on the head that hopefully prompted him to wake up some.

What did Emily just say about focus again?

Eventually Colin looked away and off into the same direction as AngelFyre. Soon, all pairs of eyes fell on the First Year in question. Emily hummed in thought. "What on earth posessed her to do something so dangerous? What if those flames had burnt someone alongside Colin?"

The mystery of it all seemed to finally weigh itself heavily on Colin. Emily caught a glimpse of his expression whilst he remained facing away from her. Before long, he reclaimed her hand and held it tightly, to which Emily reciprocate with a squeeze of her own when she heard a low rumble emanate from his throat.

"We'll get to the bottom of this, my friend," she said gently.

She watched Casey rip his dance card in half and rolled her eyes. Yes, because that would solve everything. Still, she knew him long enough to guess that there was some thinking behind his decision. If all the dance cards were destroyed, then maybe the chances of more fire could be prevented, she thought. Chances are Casey was thinking along that line as well.

Then everything changed.

The Garden, once beautiful and elegant, erupted in flames, bigger than the ones Colin was alit with earlier. Emily stood there, mouth wide open, as the venue was engulfed in smoke and fire.

"How did--!"

Simon was already on the ball as he tried to put out the fires, Colin not long following in his stride. "Emmi! Make some rain or snow or something!" her Slytherin companion called to her.

Emily fumbled with her wand before getting it together. She knew she couldn't stand by and do nothing. "Right! Of course! But I don't know if any of the spells I know would be powerful enough for something like this...!" Damned curriculum. Colin, AngelFyre and Simon were older to access useful spells, meanwhile Emily was still learning how to change things into different colours and turning animals into obscure house items. But where there's a will, there's a way, and Emily managed to dig far into her memory catalogue deep enough to pull out one trick from her sleeve.

"I guess this spell will have to do-- Metelojinx!"
