Better Late Than Never
September 7, 2019
The Flying Professor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had held her position for a few months, but her things scattered the room in such a way that it appeared she had arrived the day prior. The workroom had been left tidy, but just beyond the workroom - Olphie's room - was, quite frankly, a mess.
Not that it was Olphie's fault, of course. Those damn house elves, those lazy idiots, still hadn't unpacked! The first few days, Olphie thought it would be okay. She'd dust off her portrait of Barnaby Ryker, kiss it goodnight, and think, they've just been busy...they'll get to it tomorrow. But then tomorrow passed, and then a week, and then a fortnight, and Olphie began to lose hope.
Her last ounce of belief in the house elves came with the closing feast, when she noticed that the elves had all this time to make grandiose foods and decorations for the plebeian children. All the children had done is listen to some words, write some words, and get detention. They didn't deserve anything that special - especially when Olphie's needs were being ignored. Olphie, the former star of the Holyhead Harpies. The current star of Hogwarts. It didn't help that she had had the most horrific meal, though...she might have chosen her least favorite meal because she wanted to hate the house elves more. The meatloaf looked lumpy and as though they had taken hippogriff dung and made it into a cake. It was not appropriate for someone as fabulous as Olphie.
By the time Olphie had given up waiting, however, it was summer, and she wasn't about to unpack her own things; she wasn't a peasant! So she waited. And waited. And finally, here we were, in September. The start of term had begun, and over the past week, Olphie had been attempting to recruit students to finally get this pigsty cleaned. She couldn't bear to live another day with the fear that Barnaby or Caradoc would see how she had been living in such filth!
As she waited for her five volunteers, Olphie took in the sight before her. Ten suitcases decorated the floor, each with different items spewing out of them. One had a wild collection of shoes, a few clothes, and another was filled with accessories, such as her novelty bottle containing "Betty Boop's Every Scent Perfume." The trunk that had makeup also had some powders (in their container but also powder simply on the ground) and brushes on the floor, from way back when she had been getting ready for the First Year Graduation Party. One trunk had all of her fan mail - while some of it was a bit creepy (feel free to make up fan letters, not from her family, as I developed a plot for her after I wrote this errand originally), upon further investigation, it would seem that most of them were from her Hogwarts friends rather than actual fans. There was an entire stack of photos of herself in the corner, waiting to be signed. On her desk, many drafts of love letters to Barnaby and Caradoc could be found, long forgotten and still unsent. Finally, a Santa-sized bag full of sweets rounded out the collection of pure crap. In addition, her bed was unmade, the cushions were flattened, and all furniture looked a little worse for the wear. Anyone could see that this room was clearly a disaster.
When the first student had arrived, Olphie would boom, "Welcome, dear! Now, I've gotten you some cleaning supplies, but just go through my things, please, and put them away. Those pesky house elves have slacked for far too long! Do a good job, and I'll give you a few house points. I can trust you to relay the information to the others? Very nice, now that's a dear...I'll be back in a little bit. I've got some...errands to do."
She scurried away without a further word. In reality, errands just entailed trying to bump into Barnaby, but the students didn't need to know that. All they needed to do was focus on the task at hand: straighten Olphie's room (and after that, perhaps her life, though there is no reward for those attempts).
OOC: This is a private thread for the five participants in the errand. Please do not enter unless you have been approved for the errand (confirmed via owl and thread). As a reminder, you do not need to wait for me to post again. Please put your word totals at the end of your posts, though you are always welcome to write more!

Thora sighed as she dragged herself out of the Castle and into the cold air. Why had she even signed up for an errand with the obnoxious Flying Professor? Now, errands from other Professors seemed quite fun, but cleaning the overbearing Professor Bercegeay's room seemed like a horrific task and a great way to waste her day. Thankfully, she didn't have places to be as the school year had just begun, but this was ruining her day. Not half an hour ago the second year had been happily painting along with Elena, improving the currently slightly-scary condition of the Slytherin Commons.
Thora considered--several times--to turn back, to just leave the professor hanging. She could choose someone else. But Thora was a girl of commitment, and however much it took, the snek always followed through. After all, she was a girl of honor. Finally reaching the door, Thora swallowed the nausea rising in her throat. Honestly, she detested the Flying Professor in all her annoyingness. Knocking hesitantly and pushing open the door set slightly ajar, Thora gulped at the monstrous sight.
Spying Professor Bercegeay in the room, Thora straightened up, trying not to look too disturbed as she surveyed the rather... questionable items in the room. "Welcome, dear!
Great. Thora had made the mistake of coming early. She was supposed to tell the other students what to do? That was probably her biggest nightmare. "Wait!" she squeaked, but Professor Bercegeay swept out of the room, oblivious to the poor girl's frustration. Striding to the middle of the room, Thora gingerly picked up a crumpled envelope. A piece of parchment laid beside it, which Thora picked up to read. Taking the parchment to a safer-looking corner of the room, Thora began to read. If she was supposed to instruct the other people, she had might as well wait for them to arrive.WC || 308/1000

OOC: I'm assuming that Thora has the misfortune to should instruct the other students as the first to arrive, so I'll just wait for people to arrive.

Most generally Shauna would not want to even think about doing any sort of errand with the flying professor mostly because she seemed way too full of herself for her own good. However there was a change to gain house points with this errand which was great; even though she'd prefer sickles but hey beggars can't be choosers right? Besides for a woman who claims to be so fabulous she seriously doubted the errand would be anything so tedious however she could be very wrong.
It was directly after lunch when she decided to go to the proper professors room; when she got there she was a bit shocked to find the professor was not there. As she looked around her eye's widened considerably to the point of nearly taking over her face as she seen the state of this room "Holy mackerel." she said softly; even though she had been looking around she didn't see anyone around. Although with the MASS amounts of junk in this room she wasn't surprised that she couldn't see anyone "Hello, is anyone here?" She asked slowly walking into the room; good heavens where THEY supposed to clean up this tornado? Good gracious she wanted a dang raise!

Back to Hogwarts and now a second-year student. Griseldis was very excited for this year, she even recently applied for the Prefect role after she heard the announcement from their new Head of House who also their former Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor they were looking for two new Gryffindor Prefects. Griseldis decided it was time to prove herself and another part was to help other people in Hogwarts. She also believed that it would be a great experience to gain if she was given the chance to be a Prefect.Interacting with @Thora Larkston@Shauna StarrOpen to Interactions!OOC Note: Griseldis wasn't a Prefect yet during this time.
After that, she also heard another announcement from the Flying Professor about an errand. Unlike the last errand she did last year, the reward of this errand was to earn House points and not money. Well, that wasn't the reason why she would like to do this errand. The reason was simple, she just wanted to help out and helping the Professor cleaning their room shouldn't be that hard, right? The first time Griseldis met Professor Bercegeay after the former Flying Teacher became the Head of Ravenclaw, she seemed very charming in an unique way and always give students funny nicknames. Despite her odd habit, she was really a brilliant Flying Professor and really good at teaching.
But when Griseldis arrived at the Flying Professor's room, she wanted to take her words back. "Wow...Professor Bercegeay lives like this?", While looking at the huge mess in front of her, Grisleids was very surprised because she honestly didn't expect such an independent and confident woman would be this...lazy? Or maybe she didn't have the time so she put out an errand and wanted five volunteers to help clean her room? Who knows? Ten suitcases already opened and a lot of things were on the floor. Shoes, clothes, accessories, letters and makeup products. Looking around the room, Professor Bercegeay didn't seem to be here and only two girls about her age stood there. A Slytherin and a Ravenclaw. At least, she was going to work with them so no need to be frustrated about the chaotic room. Grisleids put up a friendly smile and went to greet them, "Hello there, you two are here because of the errand, right? I'm Gris, and you?"

It was a sad fact that Katrina had to spend her precious time to help this crazy teacher unpack. She did have nothing better to do with her time. Well, at least she would get quite a bit of a benefit. I mean, it was only a few hours, what was the worst that could happen? Katrina trudged down the halls, slightly worried that she would walk into the wrong room and cost herself yet another awkward conversation.
Katrina finally found the room she was looking for late. Two other students were there, a first year she vaguely recognized and, no. No, no, no! This could NOT be happening. Thora Larkston! Katrina had half a mind to just exit the room before anyone saw, hide away, and come up with an excuse. Last time they had met, Katrina had messed up so much. She had thought there was a hag or something in the library and ended up casting "Flipendo" on her. They had went to the Hospital Wing and the entire event was horrible. The Gryffindor felt her face reddening and walked in silently. She was already there after all.
The room was an utter mess. There was no way they would clean up the whole place. There were several bags full of letters and overflowing with junk. It was a daunting task, one that she was not confidant they could finish. There were was seemed to be a dozen or so spewing suitcases that she stepped around to just enter the room. Katrina paused and twiddled her fingers behind her back.
"Um, hi?" Katrina addressed Shauna instead of Thora, "Should we just start cleaning? I could work on letters I guess." Katrina tossed her head in the direction of a rather large mountain of papers she assumed to be letters. Professor wasn't in the room and Katrina wanted nothing less then to just get on with it all.

Thora had just slit the envelope open and began to read the parchment--it seemed to be a rather cringy piece of the professor's fan mail--when a few more girls walked in. Honestly speaking, it was rather hard to tear her eyes from the adoring fan's letter, as it was quite hilarious to read. It began:
Swallowing hard, Thora wondered whether she was supposed to throw these disgusting letters away or get a good laugh out of the first. She didn't have time to figure that out, though, as a young Ravenclaw walked in. From the looks of her, the girl was a first year, one she hadn't seen before--at least, she hadn't noted the brunette's name or face before. The first year, as she appeared, asked whether anyone was in the room. Thora was just about to answer when another girl walked in. Judging from the very bewildered looks on both girls' faces, they were also mortified by the state of Professor Bercegeay's room. This was not going to end well, but at least they could work together to somewhat help.To the most fabulously amazing beater, Olphie,
I loved watching your game against the Montrose Magpies yesterday! Your amazingness on the Quidditch Pitch is more than I can bear.
"Um, hi, I'm here for the errand, yes. I'm Thora, by the way. Slytherin," she smiled at the two girls. She hated this, but she had to continue. Biting her lip, she relayed the Flying Professor's message, "Erm, so, Professor Bercegeay wants us to put away her stuff and kind of clear the place up. She also said she provided cleaning supplies, but I doubt we'll get to that," Thora said, gesturing to the messy excuse for a room. "I wish she was here to tell you herself, but she told me and then hightailed it out of here..." The Slytherin trailed off, unsure of what else she could say.
Just then, Katrina walked in, hesitating at the door. Thora quickly looked down, as Katrina had obviously seen her and was probably debating whether to stay or not. Well, she could make her own decisions, couldn't she? Thora had encountered Katrina in the library, where Katrina mistook her as a hag of some sort and had cast Flipendo on her. Long story short, it had ended in a trip to the Hospital Wing and a general feeling of dislike between the two second years. Although Thora wasn't about to take her anger too far, she could hold a serious grudge. Once her pride had been hurt, it took a while to gain back. The incident with Katrina had been no exception, explaining why Thora tried to stay away from the Gryffindor as much as possible.
Well, this would be great fun. Thora walked back over to the monstrous pile of unopened letters, studying the one she was still holding. Perhaps it would provide a clue about what these letters were really for. Even a cursory glance told Thora it wasn't from an idolizing fan, but instead from another Hogwarts professor. Even weirder… Thora began stacking the letters, looking up only once she realized that she probably needed to tell Katrina what to do.
To her surprise, Katrina walked over to the Ravenclaw first year, asking her what to do. Well, she had no way of knowing who had been there first. It was a good thing she had already instructed the young girl. If Katrina wanted to ignore her, that was perfectly fine with Thora.
"What do you think we should do with these letters? I don't want to throw them away, but we've got to do something about this mess," Thora asked the brunette who had arrived third Griseldis Edelhardt, as the other two girls--Katrina being one of them--seemed to be absorbed in their own work. However, flamboyant Professor Bercegeay was, she was still a professor, and Thora still needed to treat her things with respect, however cringy they seemed.WC: 667+308=975/1000

Better Late Than Never
George's eyes were wide as saucers as he took in the sight of the room, waddling in after all of the other students had arrived. It was the early weeks of his first year, and this was one of the first real interactions he'd had with a professor. Or, well, hoped to have. By the time he arrived, Olphie was already gone out on her own errands, leaving the five kids to their own devices in her bedroom. An unwise decision, George wagered, although perhaps the students at wizarding school were more respectful of boundaries than the students of muggle schools would be given free reign with a professor's belongings.
Being on his best behavior was the idea he'd had when he'd taken this errand. The professor had only offered house points - which were fine and dandy, really, even if he wasn't entirely concerned with the success of house Hufflepuff. He had no doubt they would be able to achieve all the glorious mediocrity they had the potential for, with or without his participation. The goal of this errand was a cause much more noble - to kiss butt. A first-year Muggle-born Hufflepuff was just about as low as you could get on the social rungs around here. He figured if he was going to have a good time, he'd have to get a few teachers on his side to grease the wheels.
"I'm George," the little fellow said, tugging his fresh new robe upward a bit to try and hide the dingy clothes beneath it. His eyes passed over each of the four girls. Of course it was a bunch of girls, and they were cleaning up what looked like the wreckage of some kind of slumber-party accident. There was a momentary pause as he realized that the professor was nowhere to be found. "Is miss Bercegeay gone already?"
Where did she want them to put all of this... crap? George shut the door behind him and shuffled forward, appraising the dump of belongings that composed the mess in the room. The makeup kits had him curious, and he leaned over to pick up a brush and a palette from the floor.
"I really don't want to be the one who makes the bed," he admitted, giving each of the girls a pleading look. He doubted they wanted to be that person either, but someone had to. It made sense for it to be a girl, George thought, although he wasn't sure why. He swirled a brush onto one of the little boxes of makeup that Olphie had spilling out of her trunk.
He caught himself after a few seconds of brushing makeup onto his face, making a pink streak of blush vertically down the front of his nose. He looked around over his shoulder, unsure if he'd been noticed doing it. The brush fit inside of the little box and he clicked it shut, depositing it on the edge of the professor's desk. Thora was going through letters, looking to figure out what should be done with them.
"Is there anything good in them?" he wondered, then bit his lip. This wasn't a good first impression to make. It was far too easy to go loopy when you're uprooted and sent off to wizard school. Surely that was to blame - not simply that he was something of a twerp. "I mean- er... are they.. sentimental and worth saving?"

Shauna was still a little bewildered by the monstrosity that was this professors room honestly if any child had let their room get this bad they would be grounded hard core. She took a deep breath as the Slytherin girl hadn't seen among all the junk introduced herself as Thora; a fine name if she says so herself. "Lovely to meet you I'm Shauna Starr, Ravenclaw." She ventured a bit further into the room dancing a bit to dodge all the piles of crap as one of the girls whom it would seem Thora had some animosity with...that it not to say the feeling wasn't mutual. Honestly you had to be blind not to notice these sorts of things; just as she she was looking about the room to see what all there was to be done another student showed up. This time a boy.
Those in the room were discussing among themselves what needed to be done or rather what should be done; it was clear that they have never had to clean before. Well truth be told Shauna has never had to clean a mess like this either but it she could clearly see that this was like doing dishes back in the orphanage; "Gather everything of similar categories into piles..." she hadn't realized she had spoken at first until the very last when she looked over at the boy who'd come in introducing himself as George now wearing make up making her chuckle a bit. Once she realized she spoke she continued on "Gather everything of similar categories into piles; makeup, clothes, honestly who knows what else Thora and you there the one by the door sorry I don't know your name; will you two can work on the letters it seems to be a rather large job and well Thora was already there when we came in. Gris, George how about you help me with his particular monstrosity in the middle of the room." she hadn't meant to take over as leader but honestly someone needed to get the ball rolling.

Better Late Than Never
Katrina shifted from side to side uncomfortably. “I can make the bed.” she spoke addressing the boy who came in. “I’m Katrina by the way.” her voice luckily didn’t break and she busied herself with the bed.
She pulled up the sheets and blankets and made hospital corners. The mind-numbing activity reminded her of the time when she lost a bet to her brother and had to make his bed for a month. She fluffed the pillows and set them before the headboard. She brushed a few pieces of junk off the bed and onto the floor.
One of the girls whom Katrina didn’t catch the name took charge. She seemed a bit bossy, but it wasn’t Katrina’s place to judge. She paired Katrina with Thora. Katrina swallowed uncertainly before making her way over to Thora. “Um, hi?” Katrina addressed Thora asked ashamed of her uncertainty.
She lifted a first letter out of the envelope and read it.A smirk pulled at Katrina’s face, it was so bad! Why would anyone waste their time on this? She tossed the envelope to the side and placed the card on the other side. She opened another card and read it.Dearest Olphie,
It was wonderful seeing you again. Your masterful skills fill me with joy. Your glorious swoops and dives give me thrills.
- Your FriendI am your biggest fan. This weekend I dressed in all of my gear. I painted your name on my face just to support you! I love watching you play! Go Olphie!!
The card went on but Katrina didn’t have the time to read all of them, there was a crazy amount of cards to get through. She placed the envelope on top of the first and the card in its own pile. Katrina did a few more putting the envelopes in one pile and the cards in another. Then she spoke to assigned buddy.
“I am putting the envelopes here, ” Katrina pointed to the pile with envelopes, “and the cards here. I guess we can sort them later.”
To prove her point Katrina opened another letter and read it, putting the pieces in their corresponding places.

Griseldis nodded to the two girls in front of her, "Thora and Shauna, your names are quite lovely...oh, I forgot to say that I'm a Gryffindor." Just then, another girl entered the room, but she seemed to ignore her and Thora. She only spoke to Shauna instead, not even bother to introduce herself. The girl simply decided for herself to clean up the huge pile of letters. Griseldis found it quite rude but she understood that not everyone could be nice. However, she noticed how Thora tensed a bit when she saw the girl. Did something happen between them? But Griseldis was not a person who would pry into other people's matters so she kept quiet.Interacting with @Thora Larkston @Shauna Starr @George HenryMentioning @Katrina Walker
Finally, the last volunteer arrived. It was a boy this time and he seemed quite friendly then he told them that his name was George. "Hi George, and well...Professor Bercegeay already left and told Thora as she was the first who arrived here what we should do.", Griseldis explained to him. And just by seeing his disbelief expression, she knew what he was thinking at this point, "Yes... we all reacted the same way as you do, but the reward we are going to get after this is quite very attractive." George shut the door behind him, a makeup kit that was lying on the floor caught his attention. He went to pick it up and boldly used the makeup by brushing some powder on his cheeks. "Hey now, we shouldn't use someone's item without their permission, George.", Griseldis spoke out her own opinion to him but didn't go to take the makeup kit out from his hands because she believed he might understand that it wasn't really polite to do that. George later admitted that he didn't want to do the bed that was when the girl who ignored them minutes ago came over and said that she would do it, finally decided to tell them that her name was Katrina. She watched how quickly she made the bed.
Shauna then starting to speak up, saying that they should gather everything and sort them into categories. "I think that's a good idea." She agreed with a nod. Then Shauna asked if she and George could work with her as a team, while Katrina and Thora would be working together, "Sure, I don't mind at all. Let's get this started shall we?", with that being said. Griseldis rolled both of her sleeves and was fully motivated. "I'll go gather the clothes." She said and walked towards the pile of clothes. Looking at the "mountain" in front of her, she rubbed her hands, biting her bottom lip then began her first task. Griseldis pulled out the clothes and throwing each into a category: dresses, skirts, jeans, T-shirts, blouses, coats, jackets, socks and scarfs. It took her almost half an hour to finish it, "Alright..." Griseldis turned around and showed Georgy and Shaune nine smaller piles of clothes, "The huge pile is divided into different categories, we now have a pile of dresses, a pile of skirts, a pile of jeans, a pile of T-shirts, a pile of blouses, a pile of coats, a pile of socks and a pile of scarfs. We can fold the clothes together and place them into the drawers."
