Friends on a Weekend PV Finished

Saoirse settled into a seat, sipping on a cup of hot chocolate and reading over her homework. She smiled, and checked the time 9:57. Bustling with excitement she could hardly wait, this was the first time out of Dublin meeting a friend somewhere else. She had asked her professors for the homework and lessons for the weekend as she would be out, she wasn't in any hurry to get it done considering the fact that she was meant to do it with her friend, Gabby. They had met this very Monday in the library where Saoirse had noticed Gabby looking for a book and decided to help her, they had then agreed to meet her for the weekend. Maybe this could become a recurring concept, the two of them meeting together almost every weekend to hang-out, well...they were friends...right?
Saoirse looked up at the door, waiting quietly. It was 10:01, she had to be her soon right? Of course, Gabby wouldn't let her down. Or at least she hoped not, Gabby seemed like good friend so Saoirse trusted her. Maybe that was a mistake, oh well...if Gabby came she came and if she didn't Saoirse would know better from now on.

[quote]Gabby ran to the Leaky Cauldron panting, not stopping when she reached the door, instead pushing it open with both hands. As the door swung open, she paused and rested a hand on the side of the door, taking a break to regain her breath. She was meant to meet Saoirse there at 10, but, as usual, she hadn't left enough time to travel down to the Leaky Cauldron. The pub's clock now read 10:10, and Gabby anxiously scanned the room to find her friend.

She found her quickly, sitting quietly at a table with a cup beside her as she read a book, looking. Gabby jogged over quickly, slowing down to a walk as she got closer.
"Hey Saoirse," she said to the girl. "Sorry I'm late, I forgot how long it took to get down here, it's been a while since I've been here, the last time I came here was at the start of the year. But I brought my book -" she paused, and showed the two novels underneath her arms, one was her Potions book, and another was on phoenixes from the other day at the library. "- so that I can study, and I brought one of the phoenix ones as well, just in case."

Saoirse rolled her eyes, "your fine, I left a 9:23 and only got here at 9:51." She ushered for Gabby to follow her back to the table and sat atop it, with her book in her hand she looked back at the girl. "We can order food now and go up to the room later, or we can go up the room now and order food in a little bit once we get settled in." Looking back down at my book, I decided to speak once again, "it's your call, Gabby." She craned her neck to look at the stairwell hidden in distant darkness, "our room's up there. They're always nice, with two beds, a fireplace, a small sitting area, there's also a window, and they always have a bathroom attached." Saoirse became reminiscent of her first time staying at the Leaky Cauldron, it was near to heaven compared to the hotels she and her father had to stay in during their road-trip. Maybe it was magic, maybe it was just the fact she was too tired from the long and quite embarrassing trip on the train. Turning her mind back towards, Gabby she looked at the curly-haired girl.
"Well?"

[quote]Gabby was glad that Saoirse hadn't been annoyed at her being late, because the chance of her arriving late to something again was, unfortunately, very high. And having a friend that couldn't stand lateness would prove to be difficult. But Gabby didn't think about that for long, her thoughts had already turned to the idea of the rooms upstairs. A warm fireplace, cozy chairs, it sounded perfect. And, Saoirse would be there as well, which as an added bonus.
"Um..." Gabby pondered on the offer of food first, or room first, her eyebrows creasing in concentration as she thought. "Let's get food first. Then we can eat while we're reading and studying."
Eating and studying at the same time was a passion of Gabby's, something that helped keep her ever-wandering attention on the page. She twisted her neck around to the front of the bar, where wooden framed chalkboard was hung up on the wall. On it was the menu, with the food and prices written neatly side by side.
"There's the menu," she told Saoirse, pointing it out with her book-free hand. "I think I'll get some... butterbeer." Gabby loved butterbeer. When she had been introduced to the magical world, the first magical drink she ever had was butterbeer, and she had fallen deeply in love with the stuff.
"What about you?"

Saoirse looked up at the menu, "I guess I'll get butterbeer too and a bowl of Jumping Pea Soup, you should try the Leaky Burger or get a cupcake at least." Saoirse paused, taking a second to breath watching Gabby, "your probably real hungry." She walked up to the counter, and placed their order. "I ordered you a burger too, just in case." She smiled at Gabby, "and don't worry about the bill, I'll pick it up." She went back over to their table and sat down next to Gabby.
Saoirse started scribbling down notes for Transfiguration. It was honestly one of her harder subjects, not with the class itself but rather the homework. She tended to like it short and simple, nothing more nothing less. "What's your favorite class so far? Mine is probably Herbology." Saoirse looked up at Gabby, who was sitting across from her with the book on the table in front of her. Gabby looked relieved, probably because Saoirse excused her tardiness. Suddenly large cheers arose from the front, causing Saoirse to whip around, nothing more than a group of older kids they looked like Hogwarts students. "Okay, fine" Saoirse annoyed tone came into play, right as their order was delivered.

"Favourite class? Probably Potions. I know that's super cliche, since I'm in the Slytherin house, but it really is my favourite subject. I get bored in other subjects when the teacher talks a lot. I can never keep my focus, and it's always so boring, so I prefer the more pratical classes. Like Potions, and Herbology too, the professor never talks for long in those classes either."
Gabby paused as their order arrived, delivered by an older teenage boy who held their food and drinks on a tray. He placed the food out on the table neatly, avoiding the girls' books that now lay scattered around.
"Thanks," she said to him as he turned around, but then quickly turned her attention back to Saoirse. "And thank you for the burger, and paying the bill."
Other people paying the bill was something thing Gabby didn't like, growing up in a working class household made you extremely proud of that sort of thing, but Gabby also knew that Saoirse didn't know that, and wasn't doing it because she felt sorry for her, but more because she was just doing a nice thing.
"My worst class, right now, is Astronomy. There's so much watching, and not enough doing. I'm horrible at drawing too, so that doesn't help at all. Do you have a worst class?" Gabby asked conversationally, taking a sip of her butterbeer placed in front of her.

"Thank you!" Saoirse piped up in her normal, cheery tone towards the boy who had delivered their food and handed him a small amount of sickles to make in for a tip. "Transfiguration, not the class itself but rather the homework. When necessary I put in hordes of detail but prefer your regular, and quite simple details. I'm almost finished with it, and it's been such a pain." Saoirse said, she took a spoonful of her soup before continuing, "I kinda like it when the teacher sits there and talks, maybe I'm just too social for my own good." She shrugged looking back at Gabby. "I can understand where your coming from, it can get annoying at certain points in time. Especially when they start on an entirely new subject that has nothing to do with anything closely relating to them, their students, or the class whatsoever." She looked over at the books Gabby had again, "so did the other book help a little?"
Saoirse looked around the room after finishing her question, people were everywhere crowding around. It made her feel quite calm, she loved both eternal silence and large chatter. Maybe that made her strange but hearing the Slytherin speak once more she whipped her head around.

Saoirse liked more theoretical classes than practical, and while Gabby was the complete opposite, she respected her new friend's interests, and the difference between the two didn't bother her. It did bother other people, she knew that, but if Gabby was friends only with people who were similar to her in terms of personality, she wouldn't have much at all. Plus, it was better being friends with someone like Saoirse, who read more, and seemed to study easily-er than Gabby did. Because they were different, Saoirse had been able to help Gabby find the right book that day in the library.

"Yep, they helped a lot," she told her friend. "Did you know that phoenix tears are the only known cure for the venom of a basilisk? I learnt that in one of the books - it's really interesting. The red one, with the little speckles of gold? That one was a bit long, I skipped some parts, it was still fascinating though. That one was where I got that fact from."

She paused to take a bite of her burger, the deliciousness of cheese, salad, bread and meat melting in her mouth as she chewed. Lucky Saoirse had the sense to buy her one of these, otherwise she would've starved.
"What are you reading?"

"The History of Wizards and Magic of All Types." She responded taking a spoonful or probably a few of Jumping Pea Soup. Going back and forth through the pages she found she only had reached the 13th chapter in these past few days and there were about 42, this was going to take forever to get through, wasn't it? Oh well, it was still a good read, "it's quite interesting, if your into knowledgeable, long and thick books on the Wizarding World."
Saoirse turned the page in a lightning flash and then began to notice the storm outsider, "wow, great." She rolled her eyes and watched the rain pour down, "this always happens. Some people say that the owner does it to keep guests longer, then again some people are very stupid." Saoirse's eyes trailed off from the window and back onto her table, Gabby looked as to be digging into her food and drink, she couldn't blame her though, they did have good food. She took another spoonful and began to sip on her Butter-beer, it had that sourish but sweet taste many had come to love over the years, it was great really a tasty and quite ancient Wizarding drink but without the alcohol, a plus for everybody under 17.

I'm sorry for the long wait, I was sickly for quite awhile and still am but trying to get back into the games.

"It doesn't sound like the book for me then," Gabby said, joking lightly. "But that's my fault, not yours."
She took a final bite of her hamburger, relishing the deliciousness of it all as she chewed. When she finally swallowed it, Gabby instantly found her stomach craving for more. But she knew it would be rude to ask Saoirse. It was probably for the better anyway, and she had her butterbeer. She took a sip, clutching it in two hands.

"That would actually be really smart," Gabby said thoughtfully. "If the owner made it rain just so that the customers would stay longer. I mean, they would definitely make more money, without the customer even knowing. I guess it is a bit evil though - but nobody's getting hurt, right? So does it really matter? The owner clearly doesn't have a problem about it."
Taking another sip of her butterbeer, Gabby finally gave into her cravings for another burger. Searching her pockets, she managed to find a couple of coins.
"I'm going to go and get a second burger," she told Saoirse, standing up. "But don't worry, I have money this time. Would you like me to get you anything? A drink or something?"
