The Bowtruckles

"Ok, ok so the reason I invited you down here. I don't know if you ever heard about these things they're called... uh Bowtrick- browtruck- no- uh- Bowtruckles.... I think? According to this book I read on Magical Creatures, they're this little twig thing that protects the trees and the forest and stuff. And apparently Clem said that he overheard a Hufflepuff kid say that she overheard the Fat Friar say that the Bowtruckles come down to the Great Lake every evening at sunset to catch Dragonflies and Water Striders. And so I wanted you to come with me so we could like... see one. I know you love Herbology and like maybe you had loads of these back home but... man they just sound so... brilliant.. you know?"
He barely paused to take a breath as he hopped and jumped over the rocky shoreline of the Great Lake. He grinned at Lark, gladdened by their recent reconciliation. He'd missed his friend deeply over the past few weeks their promise to one another had lifted his spirits substantially.
James was partial to a good promise. He believed that friendships weren't like ditches that one just falls into, they were promises one keeps, contracts that needed to be worked on and worked through.
He looked over at the smiling girl with golden eyes and silver hair and believed in that very moment, that he would do anything to keep his promise to her.

The Bowtruckles
。☆✼★━━━━━━✮ @James McMurtrie ✮━━━━━━★✼☆。Lark had rushed to finish dinner shoveling roast into her face as she downed a goblet of pumpkin juice. James had sent her an owl about hanging out later in the day after classes but she had been too excited to sit still and ended up rushing through her entire meal just to get it over with.
The pair had decided to go on some sort of adventure, Lark hadn't been sure what James was up to at first until arriving and learning of his recent interest in Bowtruckles. It had been nice to get outside and away from the stuffy castle for a bit. Although the warmth of the fires was something she sorely missed that morning as they had made their way towards the Lake. Pulling her cloak closer around her and readjusting the blue scarf tied around her neck a smile spread across her face listening to James' fascination with Bowtruckles. They were a pretty amazing creature that's for sure. There was a tree on her parents property that housed a branch or family of them but Lark hadn't been able to get as close as her father had to the curious little things. Her father had been rather shocked at the sight since they weren't often found in their area.
A snort left the girl as James attempted to pronounce their name.
"They are pretty neat." She agreed. "They eat wood lice and stuff too, dig em out with their little fingers." Lark wondered if Tavish had any Bowtruckles squared away in one of the greenhouses... maybe in one of the handful they weren't allowed to enter? Who knew, he seemed a curious man.
"Ya ya! I'm glad you asked!" It would be pretty neat to see such a thing and getting a chance to hang out, outside of classes with her best friend was always a treat. "Be nice if they did come out. They're pretty shy things."
They had come to a bit of closed off portion of along the lake, thankfully much less windy meaning Lark might just get the feeling back in her fingers. "I cant wait tA start magical creatures class speaking of Bowtruckles!" She leaned back against one of the trees and huffed hot air into her hands. "Hey! Do you think you'll tryout for Quidditch next year?" Lark envisioned her friend cruising in a streak of blue across the pitch. "You'd be amazin'! I mean you're so good in class with flying." Rubbing her hands together for warmth she gave a laugh. Plus going to cheer on James would be fun, painting her face and hanging out in the stands. She had never been to a game before.
