A Ripple in the Water
He knew the question would be asked, but he couldn't refrain himself from sighing deeply. If people know about me helping you out they will expect the same thing from me. I don't want them to think that I'm something I'm not. Some kind of hero or a good guy. The truth is I'm neither. I'm just a guy. If people think you are a good person they will use that against you. I can't afford to look weak. I rather have them think I'm trouble so they stay out of my way, you know? He looked back at her and saw she was glancing at him. She seemed to not be listening to him. No matter., he thought to himself.
For a moment he had forgotten all about her scarf. When he looked back at her he saw she was scarfless. Erik thought it was an improvement. He had no clue why she preferred to have half her face covered, but it wasn't really his place to judge. So whilst he was putting his shoes back on and some of his other clothing which he had thrown off earlier to rescue her. He grabbed his scarf and offered it to the Slytherin girl. Do you want my scarf? I just realised I hadn't thought to look after your scarf. You can have mine if you want. I don't know why you wish to hide yourself, but if you want it you can keep it. I'm used to far colder temperatures anyway. So I don't really need it.
Erik waited untill she made her decision and then pulled on all his other remaining clothing. He then used his knees to lift himself up on his feet and then looked down at her. So mystery girl. I still haven't heard your name and I haven't had an answer to my earlier question either. So what do you say? You're willing to help me find that squid that I mentioned earlier? He gave her a warm smile and offered his hands. His venomous green eyes seemed to echo his question.

Nico looked up at him, still clutching onto his robe. He spoke of how he wanted to look different than he was. To not have to fulfill the expectations of others. She didn't react to it, letting that idea sink in for a moment. He probably thought she wasn't listening but he didn't know what good of a listener she actually was.
She looked at the scarf he was offering. It was the one he owned himself. At that point, she again realised she was scarfless and couldn't help but blush. Again. Her eyes scanned the waterside, for some reason thinking her scarf would've washed ashore. Silly. That piece of fabric was probably already torn to shreds by those... creatures. A shiver went down her spine as she rememberd the eerie voices of the mermonsters. She was probably gonna have some nightmares tonight.
With a shy, genuine smile upon her red face, she accepted his gift. 'Thank you... I must admit... I like scarfs. Certainly, during this cold weather. I'm not a fan of having a cold.'
Her still pretty cold hands gently held onto Eriks, pulling herself up. Carefully, she stood up and wrapped the scarf swiftly around her neck. But, she decided not to cover her mouth this time. She felt more secure and confident. Odd.
'I'm pretty sure this belongs to you.' Nico held the Slytherin robe infront of him. It was still kinda wet but she wasn't sure if she could keep it for now... Or if she had to bring it back later. 'Y-You know what... I'll return it to you later..' She clumsily folded his robe in her arms and held it tight, afraid to accidently drop it.
Her iceblue eyes met his and she tilted her head slightly. 'My name ... My name is Nico. Nico Shymane.' Still not quite used to being exposed, she blushed. 'I'm not really an adventurous type... But i'm still quite curious. So...' Her dainty fingers moved her hair from out of her sight. 'I'd like to join you in your search, Erik.' Nico smiled, surprised how warm this cold Slytherin boy could be.

He feared for a moment she would decline as he had offered his scarf to her. Then out of no where she not only accepted his offer, but she also accepted his hand. When he recovered from his shock he felt how cold her hands were. Help me remember when we head back to the Slytherin common room we should stop to get ourselves a hot drink first. In the meantime she had wrapped the scarf around herself, but this time she was different. Her face was still visible. Erik stared at her for a moment before hastily looking away and turning a bit red himself. He just hoped it had gone unnoticed.
When she spoke again he looked at her and she seemed torn between either giving back his robe or to hold on to it. She decided then she would hold on to it a while longer. The girl held it close to her chest. This sight loosened a chuckle out of Erik. Yeah, hold on to it for as long as you like. Keep yourself warm I don't want you to get sick after all. As he spoke he winked at her.
Nico, so that was her name. As if to highlight her lastname she blushed once more. However the real surprise came when she actually accepted his offer to find that enormous squid he came here for in the first place. Erik was a bit baffled at the sudden agreement. He hadn't expected for her to say yes this fast. E-Euhm that's great! Where do you suggest we start? I heard that the squid sometimes comes to the shores here and lies on the dry and that you can actually touch it! However I don't see him anywhere at the moment.

A Ripple in the Water
A hot drink? The thought of it did sound nice. Maybe a hot chocolat with some cream on top would warm her up. She smiled softly just thinking of it. She could almost taste it.
After, patting her new achieved scarf, she glanced over at Erik. He turned away from her in an instant. W-Was he blushing? Nico wasn't sure if she was imagining it but she let it slide for now. She couldn't help but let out a quiet giggle.
After she nearly returned his robe, he told her to just keep it. A-Aslong as she wanted? That wasn't why.. She only wanted to... Erik winked at her after saying so. Her chest felt abit tighter after he did. Wh-...Weird. She didn't pay much attention to it, since she wasn't sure what that indicated. It was probably nothing. Just breathe, she thought. A shiver sled down her spine. Apparantly, she wasn't completely dry yet. With a swift movement of her hands, she threw the robe over her shoulders. Aah.. Much better.
For a moment she forgot this was Eriks robe, and soon, she was blushing again. Why though. She shook the feeling out of her head and looked up at him.
The squid. She pondered for a moment and looked over her shoulder at the lake. Nico herself had no clue where they should start looking. She took one step, and scanned the edges of the lake. The murky water didn't reveal much.
'Maybe we can, walk around the lake? If we can spot him anywhere...' She turned to Erik. 'I have .. no idea how he looks like and where to begin. But let's start with what you heard, maybe? Two pair of eyers are better than one.' That sounded stupid... She pulled the robe abit closer to her, keeping her warm. The wind blowing through her hair.

She seemed to have been lost in thought when he had mentioned about warming themselves with a warm drink when they were done with their little adventure. In an attempt to keep herself warmer for the time being she had thrown his robes around her. She looked funny with the bigger robe enclosing her slender and small frame. It was cute to see. For some reason her head seemed to almost be as red as her hair color by now as she kept on blushing whilst the wind seemed to play with her hair. It was adorable to say the least.
Erik's attention was brought back to the present when she suggested to walk around the lake. Splendid idea and doing this together is more fun anyways. Let's see if we can find it. I truly hope. I really want to see one up close and personal instead of behind some glass. Don't you? Now, let's go then. Erik put his hands in his pockets and started walking along the edges of the lake. Letting his eyes scan the quiet and dark lake. He looked so intently at the water, it seemed like he could see through the dark and murky waters through sheer willpower alone.
So, tell me, Nico, where are you from and how are you finding Hogwarts and Slytherin so far?
