Immediately beginning to feel the effects of the sparkling sharbat she had digested, following behind Pinocchio and observing his movements as he happened to pick up a similar drink. If it wasn't already embarrassing that she had asked him to dance, the thought of being seen following someone around like a lost dog would only aid in the mortification she began to feel, which slowly crept its way in, unwelcomed by Meiyu. Her expression had remained stoic upon the attempt of flattery made by the latter, not entirely convinced he was genuine and also desired nothing less than being seen alone, though, fortunately for him, Meiyu's gratitude and odd occurrence of a faux social butterfly would only serve him fruitful for his endeavours tonight. Besides, he wasn't entirely bad-looking, just maintained an awful dress-sense, which would easily be fixed should Meiyu later decide to take him under her wing — subjecting him to utmost terror.
As the conversation shifted to her, Meiyu momentarily pondered whether disclosure of her life since their brief meeting during the expat to France was worth outlining; the horrific nightmares and enticement by the barbaric voice which lessened it's burden on her were topics too gruesome to share upon first meetings. Her encounter with Hans had only confirmed that belief. Instead, she shifted to the boy who's correspondence had grown to become enjoyable. "I met a dear friend of mine for the first time, so perhaps that was the most exciting part of the trip. What else did you get up to?" She questioned, her gaze moving to the scene which began to unfold, as though panic would soon ensue.
The entire event was rather peculiar, most opting to treat the location as it were a secluded area for them alone, ignoring those in attendance. Such behaviour, was something Meiyu was never fond of, quickly growing irritated by the second. "By the way, why were you alone?" She cautiously asked once more, gaze fixated on those around, quietly observing their movements as though serving as an indicator that chaos would soon follow. Yet, unaware of the chaos within her own anatomy, the sparkling sharbat which she had consumed prior had only began taking effect on her. It didn't take a significant amount of time for her composure to begin to falter; her words slowly beginning to slur as everything appeared to slow down — the dramatics unfolding before them only aiding in further souring her mood.
"Could you not find someone to ask to the ball?" Meiyu piqued inadvertently, unsure if she had crossed an unspoken boundary between the two, given their lack of bond and merely being acquaintanced with one another. Yet, as she continued, the growing chatter appeared vastly louder in her mind, urging the voice she had previously shut out free its reigns and once more, try to take control. All forms of composure she had attempted to maintain soon vanished, the barbaric voice urged her to stray, seek solitude in the likelihood that she would once more cause harm. Yet, the probability of her doing so, after finally finding someone she deemed worth her company, was slim. Instead, she drew her wand, departing from Jamie and inching closer to the crowd, her guard higher than ever.
Perhaps it was accredited to the drink which ran through her veins, altering her brain chemistry, the immense trauma from what had unfolded during winter break, the lack of Evpraksiya's calming presence to ease her as she had done that fateful night. It quickly became too much, a crowd of what could only be described as a horrid play written before her very eyes. So, Meiyu did what she did best. Narrowing her eyes, she fixated on the dance card held by a silver haired boy, surely a few years older than she was.
Enunciating clearly, Meiyu casted the spell she had known oh so well — "Incendio!"

MODERATION POST — ROUND 6.

With the evening finally in full force, the events within the Garden of Eden only took a turn for the worst. The prophecy which had been revealed to one patron, @AngelFyre McCubbin, leaves others with shrouds of paranoia over their heads, searching in the dark as the fireflies begin to die out, as though signifying something much more eerie occurring. Another patron, @Emily Shephard, succeeds in her cast, showcasing that the century old castle served fruitful as an established institute for young witches and wizards. Yet, the cast comes to no avail, requiring a stronger spell from the earlier patron, who succeeds in casting a much stronger spell — once more, to no avail. Showcasing our dear patrons that amidst the chaos currently in pursuit, no foul play was behind the slowly vanishing fireflies; who without a doubt, sought to succumb to slumber for the evening.
Yet, amidst it all, a few patrons continue engaging with one another. Few finally complying with the dance card's earlier request, seeking new beings to entice with a dance as the bard hymns continue to echo a drastic and heavy beat, emphasising the thick air of the evening — albeit outside. One patron in particular, @Akari Kabukimono, soon finds himself slowly becoming intoxicated, following the consumption of the sparkling sharbat, a refreshing drink, heightening his senses as the evening shifts to a more peculiar outcome — vastly different to what one would have imagined.
Under the effects of the sparkling sharbat, and likely something more twisted, another patron, finds herself approaching the crowd which had formed, analysing the dance cards. Unbeknownst to, @Meiyu Xiang, her behaviour aided the prophecy, with a simple but successful cast at @Colin McCoire's dance card, bursting the object into flames, albeit attached to his wrist. With the flame growing and seeking destruction, it transfers onto @Colin McCoire's sleeve, a small flame brewing, but dangerously growing stronger should it not be put out.
As the scene unfolds, a few sparks, unbeknownst to the patrons, also transfer onto nearby flowers, which previously served as a decorative item. It's only a matter of time before the entire garden would be set aflame, yet, amidst it all, the previous engraving of 'Fire', now transforms into a new word, neatly engraved in cursive. Only this time, it states;
Vengeance.

Upon entrance into The Garden of Eden, each player will receive a "dance card", a RP opportunity for players to engage with. Within the dance card, names of whom your character dances with must be recorded, beware of prying eyes should their names not be found within the dance card and they are dancing with your player, as this would be the most scandalous thing to do.
NOTE: The inclusion of dance cards is solely for a RP opportunity, you are not obliged to comply with this, but should you mention it, please ensure the character your character dances with, was included in the dance card.

Fashionably late, was how Geneviève arrived to certain events that she was not the original planner or hostess of. And never did she come to such an event without the exquisite design of something remarkably unique and her own whenever she attended a ball.
And what a ball it was that the Scottish castle had put on. She was impeccably impressed by the standards that it seemed the school held themselves too when they were allowing the international wizarding education to grace their grounds. Grace their grounds indeed, they did have royalty attending this ball after all. Though she was expected never to truly act as though she was above the common person, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that as royalty, she was walking along a real castle rather than her estate. It made her feel more princess like.
In her letters back and forth with her most recent boy interest, she had learned that students from the other schools were invited to attend the fall and spring events that Hogwarts put on. And like the gentleman he was presenting himself as, he had invited her to attend if she was able. It took almost no convincing for her to immediately start packing her bags and prepare to travel with the other students from Beauxbatons to the festivities.
Here she was, all decked out in a couture evening gown designed with the theme of the ball in mind. A Garden of Eden. Her dress bore a mock resemblance to the medieval gowns of old and was sewn with the idea of swan feathers in mind. She felt so regal walking around the grounds as she explored the evening among the grounds.
When she pleased, she had joined the garden and found her way to a dance card. Perhaps just to humor some others she would allow them to write their names on her card. Though she really only wanted to hold a spot for Alphonse.
Oh the boy was so dreamy. With his complexion, the gentle way he held her hand, the way her name rolled off his tongue and how he had compared her beauty to the roses they had both been inclined too when they had first met. She had even pressed the rose that they both had talked over in one of her text books and it sat pinned on her desk in her dorm room with the very first letter Alphonse had ever sent to her.
She sighed as she rested her arms against the edge of a stone railing somewhere on the far back side of the event. She wanted to look a little moody, and in need of rescuing from an otherwise "boring" evening. If someone wanted to sweep her off her feet for a night of dancing and sweetness so be it, but she would wait for the gentle hand of a familiar face.

Alphonse's suit:
Reducio
Out of all of the flowers conjured in the garden, there was only one Alphonse's gaze desperately scoured for.
It felt like an eternity after having arrived early at the gardenscape on account of accompanying his pregnant mother for the setup of the event. His mother had the tendency to overextend herself for student-led events, and without Fabian nearby, Alphonse had only assumed the responsibility fell upon him. For the hours after the Garden of Eden's scenery was to Sarai's liking, the boy's time was occupied by ensuring every facet of his champagne-colored suit was crisp and free of a single speck of dust, that his short coiled hair was tended to and shaved on the sides, and that his leather shoes were freshly polished. All that was left was final touches that his mother tended to, bestowing her son and niece with a handcrafted multicolor corsage and boutonniere.
Unlike his cousin, Isadora, who dove head-first into the event, Alphonse awaited his companion's arrival and remained rooted to the ground beside his mother. They didn't speak much through the duration of the event; Alphonse didn't anyway, besides one-word answers to his mother's inquiries regarding why her son looked so antsy and routinely peeked at his silver pocket watch.
Since his departure from Beaubaxtons in mid-February, a lot of his time was sunk into sending letters back and forth with Geneviève, and the long-distance conversations were well enjoyed. He had invited her to come, but his hopes slowly wore thin as time ticked by ever so slowly as the Toussaint boy awaited the familiar rose. Had Alphonse dared to risk her not noticing her arrival to the garden, the boy would have already spent time perusing the open banquet table. Yet the chance of missing Geneviève’s entrance was far too serious a crime for him to retract himself from his position.
It wasn't until a sight of regality appeared in view that Alphonse finally took his first breath, so it felt from the growing ache in his chest. A dream of platinum hair and a regal, form-fitting medieval gown of pink hue, it had to be Geneviève. His long legs propelled him away from his mother's side with urgency, bobbing and weaving through the chaos and throngs of patrons from one side of the garden to the other, where the damsel in distress rested her arms against the edge of a stone railing.
Was Geneviève having regrets of coming? Was she disappointed in the soirée’s turnout? Was she having second thoughts about him?
As he approached her side apprehensively with a nervous gulp, his brown gaze swept over the stunning gown she donned; she was even more of a vision up close than from afar, making the Toussaint progeny all the more desperate to be her first dance partner of the evening.
"Genie," Alphonse greeted casually, offering his most charming smile, "I'm so glad you made it. You look incredible... Would you grant me your first dance?"

The Garden of Eden

7.
Honestly! What was it with buttons anyway? Colin looked down in wonder as Emily undid all his shirt buttons and then did them all up again --- without any going missing! Colin's eyes widened. He was forever discovering at least one or two or maybe even three wayward buttons any any shirt he ever tried to put on. He poked at the recalcitrant bits of mother of pearl. "How did you even do that Emmi!?"
Colin practically wiggled with excitement. "Honestly, McCoire," Emily said softly, but not without good humour; "if you stood still and paid attention some more, you would be able to spare yourself some hassle."
Yeah. Like that was ever going to happen! Colin knew he had but two modes: full on and dead stop. "Wait. Did you use a spell? I wonder --- there must be a spell for doing up buttons! I must learn it!" Colin was so excited about the possibilities this afforded that he almost forgot about the chaos lurking at the edges of the ball. "I shall have to get Liam to pry his eyes from away from magical creatures for a bit!"
Emmi flipped his collar up. "Now you look like a gentleman!"
Colin had never been called a gentleman before. He laughed softly. "Aww, I don't think I'll ever be one of them, Em! Ma says I'm too rambunctious!" But what really caught Colin's attention was Emily's ideas on where vision came from. Colin listened intently. His brows knit slightly with concentration and his pond scum green eyes bored into Emily's beautiful hazel ones as if searching them for any extra signification to her words.
"Dream space, eh?" Colin whispered as Emily described what her Auntie had told her about. That reminded Colin: he really needed --- desperately --- to talk with Emmi about her Auntie and certain things he knew about Muggledom. But that would have to wait, terrifying and sickening as the whole idea was to him.
Hm. "A world within you say?" Colin said softly. "That sounds like me and Liam's imagination, but I reckon this must be different!" Inner wisdom. Pathways to other other bits of existence. Threads of fate and consequence. Some of it sounded barmy. Some of it had the right of truth.
As Emily finished up, Colin's eyes continued to stare into hers. Emily thought these things were so because her Auntie had said they were. "Hm. Me Seanmamó doesn't hold with most divination. 'Gryffin shite being sold to a Muggle accounter,' she says. The wise selling dubious crap to the ignorant. But one thing she does hold with, our Seanmamó, is Seers. She's pretty keen on AngelFyre, Em. Always fussing about her. But something ye said rings true. All that about travelling along other paths held together with bits of string. That makes sense." Colin nodded. "I dunno about practicing divinati0n, but our AngelFyre surely has the Sight of the Otherworld.
And once AngelFyre came back with her warning, it didn't take long for the four of them --- Colin, Emmi, Fyre and Simon --- to be on the alert!
Emily cast lumos, Fyre cast lumos maxima and Colin put his keen eyes and nose to the task. "I've got a bad feeling about this, mates," he said softly. His sus-o-meter was reading off the scale. The queer message of "fire" on their dance cards. AngelFyre's sudden vision.
Colin really felt proud about Emily though. She was proving to be a pretty smart girl! And also perceptive. He was still considering her words, "Sometimes the world feels like an invisible magic circle... With an inside and an outside. Some people are inside the circle...while others are outside".
Colin nodded.
AngelFyre mentioned dementors. Colin immediately turned towards his bestie. He knew what those were! Those were dangerous! His heart thumped. He hoped Emily hadn't taken notice. A sudden vision of Emily trying to make friends with dementors, offering the hot chocolate and friendly snugs, flashed through his mind. Daft girl would probably do it too! If AngelFyre was worried about dementors, then Colin would be worried about Emily getting mixed up with those super dark creatures.
Colin looked around. He reached across his chest to tuck the weird dance card into his sleeve pocket. And that's when it happened!
"YEEEEEEEEEPS!!"
Colin's nostrils suddenly filled with the smell of burning paper --- and worse, the smell of burning cloth! Emily's lumos and AngelFyre's lumos maxima were instantly joined by Colin's pocket inferno! "My card thing is on fire!" he cried out as the fire burned through the cloth, now taking over his left sleeve and chest! "Aw, for cr...!" Colin at least had trouble seeing his buttons, all beautifully still neat and tidy, as he drew his wand along the front of his shirt. He had to get out of it quick before he got too burned! Colin heard a voice shouting from somewhere behind him. Cut it? Colin's eyes widened!
"Diffindo!" he cast, and he wiggled out of his shirt now fully ablaze. "Craporific," he said forcefully, casting the burning garment away from his friends. "Ma's gonna kill me for sure! That had fancy buttons and everything!" He let out a breath as he brushed soot and ash of his now bare chest and flank. "Welp. At least me kilts are fireproof!" he said with a smile to Emily, a mischievous glint in his eye.
Colin tucked Naur-an-Edraith back into his holster, strapped around his right arm. Colin laughed. "That was no hag doll, but --- who wanted to set me on fire anyway?" Colin stood with his bare arms resting on his hips, surveying the others in the area. "I wonder --- was that a spell? Or was there something in the card itself that caught fire?" His nose wrinkled. He snarled softly.

Cursa McGlare-At-A-Girl!?
Cursa glared at Casey.
He shook his head, with a short, sharp laugh. "Yeah. Hag slugs are gross! I heard about this fifth year boy once who had a case of hagslugs." Cursa leaned in close. "I don't think there's a cure either. But I heard the Nurse had to purge him twice there were so many slugs inside him!" He clicked his tongue. "No thank you! I don't want to be puking slugs into buckets!"
He glanced at Casey. "Colin? Normal? Are we thinking of the same Colin?"
Casey wasn't listening. He'd gotten up on the flower crafting table, looking around. Cursa checked underneath the table, in case there was anything resembling horrid French food smelling mushrooms. Casey scrambled up into a tree the scout further afield. "Watch your six, Red. Things might just get weirder tonight..." Casey called down.
"My sticks? What?" Cursa looked up into the tree. "What the heck are you on about? I don't have any sticks!" Cursa looked around, just in case he'd missed some important bits of arboreal anatomy. And then he caught sight of it! Something bright, and not magical!
He turned.
Two wands glowed brightly, but Colin glowed brighter! He was on fire! "Case! Get down here!" he yelled up into the tree. He turned to run towards his cousin. "Colin's on fire again!" Of course, Alex and Angus had told loads of stories about their mom having to send Colin new shirts. Seeing Colin fighting to get out of his burning shirt, Cursa could well believe this story.
"Colin! Don't be an idiot! Just cut your way out! You're a wizard right?" shouted Cursa. No sooner had he shouted at Colin, than he heard Colin casting a spell and the burning shirt was tossed aside.
Cursa had his own wand out, now aimed at the fire. "Extinguo!" he shouted as he skidded to a halt next to Colin. Emily and AngelFyre and some other boy he didn't know were all there, clearly expecting trouble.
Cursa got a good look at Colin. His mouth dropped open momentarily. Visions of --- a body injured to death, covered in deep gashes --- danced within his imagnation. And here before him was a boy who had somehow survived such injuries. Colin was more worried about who was trying to set him on fire. Cursa caught sight of Colin's necklace. Definitely a fang. And that was no poochy fang. That was --- a wolf. And then there was the mark on his bare chest. Outline of a wolf and the full Moon.
"What the hell..." he whispered. His eyes darted from the older boy to the two girls and then back to --- Woofy. The pieces were fitting together. Cursa didn't know what to believe. He waited for Casey to show up and see his reaction. Clearly none of the Hogwarts kids were in the least bit surprised to find Colin McCoire, shirtless and still slightly smokey just standing there like it was an everyday occurrence for him.
Cursa looked up at the Moon. It was almost full. He heard Colin emit a soft snarling sound.

~ ✩✩✩ ~ ✩✩✩ ~ ✩✩✩ ~ ✩✩✩ ~Garden of Eden, Hogwarts GroundsIC Date: Evening, April 11, 2025Japanese - English - ThoughtsInteractions openXXXHikari simply shook his head as if he was disappointed in the universe for not making pastries unique enough. "House elves usually perform the cooking duties at Hogwarts," Akari noted. "I suppose you could take complaints to them... though I'm not even sure they made these...?" He peered at the pastries, puzzled.
XXX"If you're still dissatisfied, I can just make a pastry for you when we get back to Mahoutokoro. That is, if they let me into the kitchen. Or I could sneak in. Despite my fiery shenanigans, I promise I'm not very accident-prone! I won't set the school on fire." He grinned just a touch too gleefully. Akari liked exploring new recipes, and he was already thinking of all the types of pastries he could make. If I melted sugar on top...
XXXAkari watched in amusement as Hikari swatted his hand away, an expression akin to embarrassment showing faintly on his face. The other boy chose to take a new drink, taking a sip before resuming his 'why am I here' stance. Akari supposed he probably didn't like it. "So," he hummed, taking another sip of his own drink. He blinked.
XXXHe had been about to tell Hikari something, but what? He looked around the garden as if the flowers would help him, before giving up. Were those azaleas swaying a little too hard? It's probably the birds, Akari thought. "I mean, the wind,"' he said aloud. Wait. What? Speaking of wind, it seemed to blowing a little louder now, and colder. He sighed, wishing for some good ol' fire right about now.
XXXAs they headed towards the Hogwarts students, the shirt of one of the boys alarmingly caught ablaze with comical timing. Akari was startled by the sudden source of light and heat. When I said bonfire, I didn't mean a human bonfire... Luckily, the shirt was quickly torn off. There's no way... my thoughts made him catch on fire?? He stared suspiciously up at the sky as if a cloud was laughing down at him from above or something before shaking his head with a sigh.
XXX"Uhh..." Akari blinked down at the smoldering cloth on the ground. "Ooh. Pretty fire." He was fairly sure that was not the reaction he was meant to have to someone catching on fire. Some other students rushed over, one of them casting extinguo on the shirt. Akari probably should have done that instead of staring with wided-eyed curiosity.
XXX"So... how'd that happen?" He asked. Oh, this boy's card caught on fire! Yipes, what if mine does too? He tugged his own dance card off of his wrist, the list of names still pitifully empty-- not that he was exactly planning to dance. However, the interesting inscription of 'fire' had changed once again, to... something. "Vehn-gee-ahn-s," Akari said, staring down at it. "Veen-geh-ahn-s...? Vehn-gaunce? Veen-jeen-s?" English was weird.
XXXInterestingly, new people were still arriving. Much, much more than fashionably late... Akari was a bit of a stickler about being late, much like his cousin. It was practically the only thing he would get jitters about... so far. He was sure there'd be more troubling things later on. "What does this say?" He whispered very loudly to Hikari, holding his card up.
Action: Getting a little ditzy under the effects of the drink, talking to @Hikari Fujimoto and many Hogwarts peeps, mainly @Colin McCoire, looking at his dance card.

The Garden of Eden
|
|
11 April - the evening of the Spring Soirée
hough her eyes were busy scanning the newly lighted area beyond the perimeter of the garden’s edge, thanks to variant Lumos spells cast by Emily and herself, an uneasiness still roughly kneaded AngelFyre’s psyche. She could not shake the memory of the feelings of anger and betrayal that overwhelmed her during the vision. Unlike any other vision she had ever experienced, these feelings remained instead of retreating, poking at her with ragged, spindly fingers.
Her previous visions had always left her feeling momentarily discombobulated at the vision’s end, even the innocuous ones. She had always attributed that to the strangeness of seeing things taking place in a time that she did not currently exist within. This time, however, a couple of key points seemed to be different. For starters, this was the closest in proximity, time wise, to any of her previously foreseen events. Another key difference in this vision was that the feelings she was aware of… and experiencing… as the area burned around her were not her own feelings about what she was seeing. No, most disturbingly, they were definitely emanating from someone or something else.
Grandma Ruth had always told her that she was certain her darling girl was an empath due to her heightened sensitivity to people and situations. Maybe Grandma Ruth had been right, but AngelFyre had always chalked all of that up to simply being quiet and paying attention. This felt altogether different though. These feelings were ugly and piteous and on a scale she had never felt herself. The destruction and danger that could come from such felt very real. Three things brought relief in the moment: her loved ones were close, Simon had seen no evidence of Dementors, and she had seen nothing in the darkness beyond the garden.
She was still on guard and turning from the lighted area to scan other areas closer to all of them when the sight of a younger girl with dark hair caught her eye. The girl was beautiful, but so were many of the girls at Hogwarts. That was not unusual and it was not what caught her interest. Colin, looking in another direction based on the way his voice seemed to be carried off, mentioned something about having a bad feeling. AngelFyre registered it and agreed wholeheartedly, but did not have time to respond. The moment she saw the younger girl, the feelings she had felt during her vision ratcheted up tenfold. A queasiness struck her, and quite unexpectedly, the girl drew her wand and cast “Incendio” towards their group in general and towards Colin more specifically.
He yelped out something about his dance card catching on fire and from the corner of her eye she could swear he was taking off his shirt, which was now also aflame. AngelFyre did not have to look at the sky to see that orange embers were likely lofted up and swirling about in the area that still looked like paradise in this moment, but could soon devolve into the raging conflagration of her vision… that fiery hellscape none of them wanted to be witnesses to, let alone victims of.
AngelFyre figured Simon’s Healer-in-the-Making instincts would be to make sure Colin was fine, and to tend to Colin if he was hurt, but AngelFyre’s focus was on thwarting the girl so that she could do no further damage, at least in the immediate future.
“Obscuro” she intoned while casting at the girl. AngelFyre had never cast on another student outside of an official sport, Prefect duties, consensual play, or under the watchful eyes of professors, but she did not even think twice about doing so now. Just what the bloody heck did she mean by casting an ‘Incendio’ on Colin anyway? On anyone for that matter? She had purposefully cast a no damage spell, but that could change easily enough depending on the girl and her next action.
Then she heard Colin ask the most interesting question when he pondered aloud whether “… the spontaneous combustion of his dance card was due to a spell? Or was there something in the card itself that caught fire?” It was a good question and prompted her to look quickly at her own card. The word “Fire” had been replaced at some point by the word “Vengeance”. Wow. The bad vibes were amping up. AngelFyre wondered if the target of her casting had anything at all to do with that?
“Colin, take a look over there at that girl,” and AngelFyre pointed out the girl who had cast upon him. “Do you know her? She is the one who cast the Incendio on you. I saw her do it and could not stop it in time, but those feelings of betrayal and anger I mentioned feeling in my vision, I -… I think they might be coming from her. Do you know of any reason she would have a problem with you?”
As AngelFyre waited for his answer, she noticed a couple of students making their way closer to their group. Having just had her group cast upon by a stranger, and not knowing these students, AngelFyre was keeping Godshall at the ready. The two looked, and even acted, harmless enough, and the feelings that were being stoked from the vision were not sluffing off of them.
“Something else is going to come. I know it is. We should all be on guard for that, and for any embers that might start a fire,” but her eyes remained fixed on that one particular girl, even as she moved instinctively closer to Simon’s comforting presence. “Now it officially feels like a Hogwarts Ball. I am glad we had our fun early because I think Paradise has fallen. This time, however, I doubt the female responsible for it is actually named Eve.”

How was it that Colin could turn a bizarrely tense moment into something light and relaxed? Despite the obvious stir of energy that had a few of the guests on edge, Colin's fascination with his own shirt buttons couldn't help but tickle Emily into a smile. He was looking down at his front like he'd never seen it before.
"Wait. Did you use a spell? I wonder --- there must be a spell for doing up buttons! I must learn it!" Magic. Far too overrated sometimes!
"Oh I used magic, Colin..." She grinned as she stretched up and booped Colin on the nose. "It's called the magic of focus. And speaking of, we have a curious riddle with these dance cards to solve, remember? So let's focus on that".
After she and AngelFyre casted their light charms, it appeared neither could see anything. There was no shifty rustle of the bushes or trees, nor was there a suspiciously shuffly shoe roaming around the grounds. AngelFyre mentioned something about Dementors and Emily swallowed. She'd heard of them before. Not the kind of creatures one would want to get close and personal with - at least that's what the books she read on the topic said. A quick glance over at Colin told Emily that he wasn't too keen on having a run in with them either. She grazed the back of her hand against his reassuringly, offering a small smile as they stood on guard together.
She turned away briefly as she continued to scan her surroundings for any funny business. Her search didn't last long when a yelp from Colin forced her attention back to him. She squeaked frightfully when she saw his sleeve alit with flames.
"Oh my GOD, Colin!" She quivered in panic.
"My card thing is on fire!" Colin jerked frantically like he was doing some crazed dance as the flames spread.
"Never mind the dance card! You're on fire!"
Emily ran to the table and grabbed a full jug of water. Within seconds the water had left the jug and doused Colin. Then Emily came to a stop.
Eh?
As soon as the water had soaked through Colin, only then did Emily realise he managed to wrangle the shirt off, letting it burn into nothing while he stood shirtless, skinny torso and scars on full display. Emily blinked and blushed a furious red colour before it died into pink. She had just essentially waterboarded a shirtless Colin.
"O-Oh... Sorry my friend... I just-- I was trying to-- Oh, now look at you..."
Frankly, Emily felt bad more than she felt embarrassed about seeing Colin topfree.
Not that Colin seemed bothered in the slightest!
"Welp. At least me kilts are fireproof!"
God love him. Emily's mouth twitched wordlessly before letting out a humoured giggle.
"You're taking this a lot better than I would've expected. But look at you! You're sopping wet now... Sorry about that..."
Emily suddenly remembered she still had a wand at her disposal. She aimed her aspen wood buddy at her dampened floofy-haired buddy.
"I feel like this is the least I could do... Not to mention I picked up this trick the last time this happened... Aer Calidus".
Hopefully all the practice with her charms had paid off.
"I guess that's what the dance card meant when it said 'fire'. But how did that happen? Was it enchanted beforehand to go up in flames?"
Then AngelFyre said something most concerning. “Do you know her? She is the one who cast the Incendio on you. I saw her do it and could not stop it in time, but those feelings of betrayal and anger I mentioned feeling in my vision, I -… I think they might be coming from her".
Emily followed AngelFyre's finger to a younger looking girl and frowned.
"Why would anyone attempt something like this?" she asked innocently.
