The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
“Maggie. Maggie Parker.”
Maggie laughed, a gentle lilt. Piérre smiled. So his laugh wasn’t all that peculiar after all. He had heard many different kinds of laughs before, husky ones form the male workers in the Ministry, high cackles from the elderly women, and guffaws from all ages young and old, but Maggie’s gentle snicker was almost like his own childish strains, and Piérre liked that.
Maggie inquired, the question seemingly open to both Piérre and Grayson, who had been silent throughout whole interaction. Piérre figured that the other second year was probably distracted by the amazing food, which had now appeared before them since the Sorting was finished.“Do you have any siblings?”
”Yeah!” Piérre answered excitedly. ”Romeo! He’s my twin. Mio gemello.” Piérre glanced around him and the Gryffindor table. Romeo was nowhere in sight. He must have snuck off without Piérre noticing. Likely trying to join the Ravenclaws at their table to indulge in some riddles and more important matters pertaining to schoolwork and the sort.
”He’s... probably with the Ravenclaws.” Piérre said, shrugging before smiling at Maggie again. ”He likes riddles and legends. I’m surprised he didn’t end up with_”
Piérre paused as he noticed Maggie’s appearance again. The girl’s hair was a light brown, just a tad lighter than his own, but now it’s tips were slate blue. The color slowly crept up the stands of her hair before stopping. It was as if her hair had rapidly dyed itself all on its own. Piérre noticed the tiny, creeping frown that was carefully making its way onto Maggie’s features, as if a dampening blanket of melancholy had formed around her. It was like her hair color was linked to her emotions.
”Them...” Piérre said in awe. ”Whoah, that’s a really cool trick with your hair....” Piérre’s eyes widened as he put two and two together. “You’re a metamorphagus! That’s so cool! Maddie told me about metamorphagus Aurors which were really awesome spies for the the Ministry, but I’ve never seen one using their ability!”
Maggie shook her head, causing her hair to whip about her quickly and disperse the lovely slate coloration. Piérre smiled again, noting that Maggie’s frown had still not faded. He wanted to badly to make her laugh or smile again. He hated it when other people were upset, and had made it his purpose to make others laugh, no matter the cost. “Can you do any other colors? Have you figured figured out how to do other people yet?”
Ah, there it was, the endless questions. Another trait of Piérre’s that had exasperated Mathilda greatly when she had first met him. The quote ‘Curiosity killed the cat’ had not resonated with Piérre yet, and he often found himself in trouble or in St. Mungos for many intrepid explorations or curious inquiries that often distracted the answered from their job handing anything, whether cursed item or dangerous mythical being. Piérre just couldn’t help it though, especially when everything was so brand new and wonderful to explore, instigate, and discover.

The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
Lily-Rose didn't know what to think when the old, little musty had shouted "GRYFFINDOR!". She was told that Gryffindor was the house for the brave, determined and courageous students.
"Are you sure?" she whispered in her head. She wasn't brave, or courageous. A little voice inside her head told her she wasn't supposed to be here. She was different, she should be home with her parents and brother. Sipping a cup of tea in front of the fireplace, watching how the wood was slowly turning into another shape.
"I am sure, completely sure." said the Sorting Hat to her. He was taken off her head. A slight smile came off her face; she wasn't sure but the Hat was always sure. And that was a satisfying feeling. With a bit more confidence she stood up and went to the long table with Gryffindors. The whole table cheered and screamed.
"Welcome to Gryffindor!" Lily-Rose could hardly hear the blonde girl who shaked her hand. She felt hands hitting her shoulder to celebrate the choice of the Sorting Hat and to welcome her.
Lily-Rose took a seat next to a few first-year students. She inspected their faces but didn't say a word. Only when she had eye contact with someone, she smiled. But besides that, she was staring to the golden plate on the table.
Was the old Hat really sure?

The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
Lilith slowly walked down from the front after being sorted. She headed over to the table filled with people in red cloaks, representing Gryffindor. She scanned the table for a place where she could sit. Once she did find a place she quietly took a seat.
The rest of the kids around her were either chatting with friends or enjoying the food that had been placed in front of them, some were just being quiet like Lilith and thinking to themselves. Lilith sighed and began to pick at her food.
It wasn't that Lilith was bored or anything, just anxious and nervous. She hadn't expected to be sorted into Gryffindor, especially since she wasn't the type to be brave or confident. Of course, as she took a look around, she'd say that she'd rather be in Gryffindor than...well, a certain house that didn't look very friendly.
As Lilith was thinking about all of this, a boy who had sat down next to her spoke. "I'm Quinn. How are you? What do you think of the Sorting Hat's decision? Was it what you had expected?"
Lilith looked over to the boy who was smiling brightly. She smiled in return, thankful that someone had started a conversation for her. "I'm good, thanks for asking! I'm Lilith." She took a moment to think about the rest of his questions. ""Well, to be honest, I guess I'm happy with what house I got. And I wasn't really expecting anything so I can't really give an answer to your last question, sorry." She answered, "What about you? Are you happy with the house you got sorted into, was it what you were expecting?" Lilith asked back.

Quinn smiled at their fellow Gryffindor, happily noting how friendly she acted towards them, not telling them to go away or feeling offended by anything they had said or snapping at them. They listened, an interested look on their face as Lilith introduced herself and explained that she liked Gryffindor, but hadn't had any real expectations. Then, the girl returned the question.Interacting with @Lilith Wyverstone
Without hesitating, Quinn immediately launched into an excited speech. "Well, I think I said that already, but I'm Quinn. I think I did expect Gryffindor, but maybe I was just hoping for it... It seems like the best house to me.", they said, trying to not appear boastful, but proud. "So many great people were Sorted into Gryffindor - Hermione, Harry, Ron, I think even Dumbledore? And my mum was there. She always described her time at Hogwarts - her time in Gryffindor - as the best time of her life. And I kind of wanted to follow in her footsteps." Quinn smiled. "I couldn't believe it when the Sorting Hat called out my house! I didn't think I was brave enough, but apparently, the Hat thought this would be the best house for me..." They laughed with joy, and Quinn marvelled at how easy and fun it was to talk to Lilith - that they had already found a potential best friend, only a few minutes after the Sorting, seemed like a dream. Quinn had to keep reminding themselves that it was, in fact, reality.
Searching for a new conversation topic, they mulled over some question in their head, before finally settling on: "What is the most important thing I should know about you?" They looked at Lilith expectantly, curious to hear her answer.

Lilith pondered for a moment. "What is the most important thing I should know about you?" Well, that's tough... She thought, furrowing her brow. She had never really thought of how to answer this question, probably because she never guessed that she would be asked the question in the first place. There were lots of things that were important to know about her, so picking one wasn't easy.
"Well..," Lilith began, I suppose that knowing I speak what's on my mind might be important. She replied although she didn't sound very reassuring. "I speak very honestly, which is a good thing in some cases, of course. But it also isn't the best, especially if I accidentally say something offensive or hurtful, which I don't do often, but there's a good chance of it happening. So sorry if I seem rude when it does happen."
Lilith stretched her arms back, "What about you? Is there anything I should know about you?" She repeated the question, shooting it back at Quinn. She wasn't the creative type and often just returned questions that people had asked her. She felt bad each time she did it because she didn't want the other person to think she was rude, but it sort of became a habit.

The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
Quinn looked at Lilith with an open, smiling face as she thought about the question. "Well... I suppose that knowing I speak what's on my mind is very important. I speak very honestly, which is a good thing in some cases, of course. But it also isn't the best, especially if I accidentally say something offensive or hurtful, which I don't do often, but there's a good chance of it happening. So sorry if I seem rude when it does happen." With every word, the delight on Quinn's face increased. "You must be my soulmate!" they burst out, before quickly adding a casual "or something". They cleared their throat. "Well, what I mean is... I'm also quite outspoken. As you may have just witnessed... well, that was just a small display of outspokenness, but for some it might be annoying or weird if someone called them a soulmate after the first few sentences of conversation. What's it like for you? And... uh, I'm talking too much. Not even answering your question." They gave a weak smile, horrified at how clumsily they were behaving, then quickly moved on to try and answer the question that Lilith had now turned to themselves. "Alright. Important thing to know about me. Well..." It was definitely not the first time they were doing this, not even the first time at Hogwarts, but still, their palms were sweating. What if Lilith was that kind of extremely conservative person who believed that a gender spectrum didn't exist, that genders and sexualities different from cis and hetero were a crime and Quinn's own gender "just a phase you'll grow out of"?Interacting with @Lilith Wyverstone
Quinn took a deep breath. "I guess, apart from me being outspoken, there are two things you'll need to know about me. Firstly, I'm agender. I was born with female sexual organs" - they mentally winced, did they really have to mention sexual organs here? - "but I identify as neither female or male. The usual labels don't really fit me. My birth name is actually Alicia, but I'm called Quinn, because it's unisex and well, it's a cool name. My pronouns are they and them. I don't know if you're familiar with this...? These pronouns are actually quite common for non-binary people, as an alternative to he or she." They were afraid of looking at Lilith, afraid of seeing her reaction. Quinn didn't really believe that she would be disgusted, or angry, or disappointed or whatever - but there was still always this tiny chance that people were not as open-minded as they seemed, and they wouldn't be able to take any discriminating cusses today. Especially not from someone who had seemed like the two could become friends.
Pausing for effect, Quinn remembered that they had initially mentioned two things to know about her. "And... I'm also an utter geek." She winked at Lilith. "If you can't find me some time, I'll probably be in the library trying to read every single book during my time at Hogwarts. Or in the common room making up conlangs - which are constructed languages", they overstressed the first syllables of "constructed" and "languages" to clarify how the word conlang derivated from them, "or building worlds to go with them."

Lilith nodded, "That's cool. I'll make sure to call you they/them from now on and not she/he!" She smiled. Lilith knew that Quinn must've been hesitant on telling her about their sexuality, so she decided to comfort them instead of not accepting them. Of course, either way, she was going to accept Quinn for who they were, after all, it wasn't right for Lilith to judge someone else for their sexuality. "I guess I'll also see you in the library, I'm a bookworm so I tend to read a lot. That's about all I ever did as a kid..."
Lilith sat there awkwardly as she was again, out of question ideas. She tried her best to think of some, but her mind kept going blank whenever she had one. "So," She began, "Tell me a bit about yourself, like favorite color, food, animals, what do you like to do in your spare time, stuff like that."
The words sort of just slipped from Lilith's mouth. "I can go first. My favorite color is teal, as you can see by the tips of my hair," She said, holding up a few strands of her hair, pointing out the teal dyed ends. "My favorite animal...I'd have to go with a sambar deer, I like how they look, you know, with the antlers and all." She smiled, trying to hide her awkwardness. "And in my spare time, you'll probably see me mostly reading, maybe painting or writing, but mostly reading or playing sports."
Lilith looked over at Quinn, "Alright, your turn."

The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
"...GRYFFINDOR!"
As the hat screamed his house name for everyone to hear, Talis saw the leftmost table burst into cheers, some kids clapping while others stood on their seats. Gryffindor... all he could remember from the song was that they were brave. Talis didn't think he considered himself brave but everyone seemed to trust the singing hat so he dismounted from the stool and walked over to the cheering table of Gryffindors. All the students at the table donned red robes and were eagerly leaning forward to get a look at their newest member. Talis felt himself wanting to shy away but resisted the urge, giving a small smile before sitting down next to another first year.
The excitement of the day seemed to be building inside of him, but it was almost as if he didn't feel it. His senses were so overloaded it was all he could do to get food onto his plate and into his mouth. At least the cooking was good. Talis thought he should learn some magical recipes to bring home to his mother. As the rest of the students were called, Talis watched them being sorted, clapping whenever another student was placed into Gryffindor.
He kept quiet as he ate and watched the rest of the students be sorted. He wouldn't call himself shy, more like reserved. He didn't feel the need to speak unless spoken to or had something to say. Sitting there enjoying the food and taking in the ambiance of the room and the laughter of his peers, Talis didn't feel like saying anything, just reveling in the environment he would be in for the next seven years.
He had been nervous coming to this school, leaving his mother and not knowing anything about magic, witches, or wizards. He still felt like the odd one out, though he tried to remember he wasn't the only muggle-born first year.
As he finished eating he looked down the table to see the different students he'd be spending his future years with. He felt a smile cross his face and saw it returned on the faces of the other Gryffindors. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad.

Jay Victoria looked like Salazar risen from his grave. They had bags under their eyes, every now and then they would unconsciously stare at someone or accidentally fall asleep for a few seconds before someone bumped into them or something. Jay was honestly done. They had no friends and barely even knew anyone. There was the interesting ravenclaw dude, a flamboyant griffindor dude, a annoying girl named Koko, and the rest were forgotten. At the moment. Because Jay couldn’t think.
They felt dead inside. More dead than they already were all these years, they found it hard to keep their anger and madness inside. They couldn’t risk getting expelled by fighting someone, they couldn’t risk going back to that hellhole they called home... Not again. Not after Jay witnessed Lily Gray being pulled away from their grasp. Ever since then Jay has been crying a lot more and acting quite chaotic... They had pulled two all-nighters in a row by now, they could just about fall asleep, yet every five minutes they’d wake up in fear. In fear of having a nightmare, in fear that something would happen to them while they were sleeping.
For some reason they couldn’t cry, as much as they wanted to cry at the moment they couldn’t, there was that little lump in their throat. Jay couldn’t handle it. Not anymore. Jay Victoria started to slam their head against the table.

The Gryffindor Table 2019-2020
The initial celebration after Kaito's sorting had died down, and the other Gryffindor students had just about left him to his own devices. He finally found a spot to sit down at, wedging himself between a couple of other first-years that he recognized from the train. He looked down at the plate full of food in front of him with wide eyes, practically drooling. He hadn't eaten much on the train and was a little more than excited for this meal.
As he began taking bites out of the turkey leg he'd picked out, he looked around at the other Gryffindor students. So these would be the people that he'd live with for the next few years. He blinked; his father would probably be disappointed that he didn't get into Ravenclaw. Then again, he figured that deep down, they both knew he didn't belong there. This... felt more like home. More like fun.
Kai glanced momentarily back over at the sorting ceremony. Now that he'd been sorted, he wasn't going to pay it much mind. It wasn't very entertaining when it lacked the suspense of wondering what house that he would get into. He sighed, fidgeting in place; he was getting restless. He wanted to get up and see where he would be staying, and get his dorm set up, and run around the magical halls. He turned to some of the other Gryffindors. "Hey, when's all this gonna be over?" he huffed.
