JOURNAL Open Letters to family

Dear Daddy,

I’ve been here at Hogwarts for a month now and I still miss you, but I am having lots of fun.  Guess what?  I found a couple of Chocolate frog cards I didn’t have in my collection.  The ones I still don’t have seem to be the hard-to-find ones now.  I don’t mind having more than one specific card anyway.  I can just make more than one set.

How are the potions going?  Are you coming to Hogwarts anytime soon?  I hope you are because then we can visit for awhile.  I’m doing very well in my classes and the lessons are pretty interesting.  I study a lot to keep my grades up, but I also spend time having fun too.

I like the Slytherin Common Room.  It’s so pretty and my dormitory is pretty cool too.  My dorm-mates all seem very nice.  We seem to get along very well and we are willing to help each other.  It’s nice to finally be able to explore the castle and I did do some exploring with my new friend.  His name is Kyden Goodlow and he’s really nice.

I’m enclosing a drawing I made a few days ago.  I thought you’d like to have it.  If you miss me, you can just look at it and think of me.

Hope to see you soon,
Emily

Dear mum and dad,

Another month here at Hogwarts. I do apologize for not getting back to you sooner like I promised. I had class homework and I have received my grades back. I did get a lot of A's and one EE and sadly a D I think in Potions. I do hope next lesson I can raise my grade, I don't think the Professor likes me very much. Lots of my Professors advise me to add more into my homework and when I do it isn't enough. I don't know what they require of me anymore so I am trying my best. Every month it seems a house wins the house cup. I find it quite a challenge to gain house points for Gryffindor. I am curious on how Ravenclaw got so many house points. It has to be from the students. Maybe there is more than other houses? I dunno. I learned a lot in my classes and I do miss you both very much. Studying here at Hogwarts is a bit harder than how it was at home with you both homeschooling me. I do look forward to holiday. I hope you both have a good Easter.

Love,
Cameron

Dear Mother and Father,

Well, here we are! I made it and alive too! I know mother has told me all her wild stories of when she first arrived at Hogwarts and how much trouble she go into! I haven't done any of that yet (unfortunately ;) )! But I plan on it!

Mother, you will be so proud to learn that I have been sorted into the SMARTEST house in Hogwarts....

Slytherin! Nah, just yanking your chain, I'm a Ravenclaw! I know it is kind of off trail since mother was a Gryffindor but what can I say?! I'm just glad to be here more than anything! It's so much prettier than I had evened imagined...so tall and...bricky. I can't wait to go straight into my "studies" (you know I say that for you Father XD)

There is so much here to explore, I think I'll start my explorations tonight. Don't worry! I won't get caught past curfew! I'm a good girl!

I will not lie, I miss you guys, not home but my wizarding family back home. I miss the open spaces but really I wouldn't change this experience for the world. I'm so excited to be in the wizarding world expressing my true colours for the first time freely.

I should get back now if I want to have any time to investigate, I will write to you again hopefully soon.

Your Loving Daughter,
Anomili <3

Dear Mom, Dad, Cole, John, and Timothy,

It is amazing here! You wouldn't believe the stuff they have. They've got sweets that come alive, floating candles, and a weird hat that could talk and see into my mind! (They call it the sorting hat.) I've been sorted into Hufflepuff, it sounds pansy like but the mascot is a badger and they are all about being trustworthy, loyal, kind, just and dedicated. I think I fit pretty well!

My room is so nice and the bed is so big and super comfy. The boys would be so jealous if they saw it. I haven't made many friends yet but I definitely am trying to get myself out there this won't be like my old school were my only friends are my brothers, I am going to have so many!

I really miss you guys already, it sucks seeing all this cool stuff and not be able to tell you about it in person, Timothy would be so jealous everything here is just like those books he reads! I have enclosed a chocolate frog for you guys to share. (I got it on the train so I hope this gets to you soon I don't want it to melt or something, and send back the card they are collectibles!)

With much love
- Michelle

Daddy,

I had to go away. Mum kicked me out, because I'm like her.
I'm not evil like her though, I swear. I want to see you again Daddy, I'm sorry that I'm a witch like mum, but we can still see each other right? I miss you. It's very lonely here at school, though I really am trying to make friends.
Don't drink too much daddy. Please and be safe. I want to come home and see you alive. I don't really know what else to say so I think I'll leave it at that. It's okay if you don't write me back, I just wanted you to know that mum hasn't had me killed or anything. You know how unstable she is.

Love,

Eris

PS. How's rufus? Tell him I said hi. I really do miss my little puppy. Also if you see Bella, take carre of her. I'm not sure what happened to her. She left me alone, and I'm fairly certain she's wandering the streets of London alone. It would be smart to call the police and find her. Or maybe she's gone back to live with mum. Either way, I fear for her. I maybe safe but she's not. GOSH this is a long PS.

sorry not sorry bout' what i said

Dearest Mother, and Father

Hey! I know you all weren't expecting an owl from me, so Surprise!
Anyway. I just scribbled some stuff on this piece of parchment and I'm going to tie it to Kiyoko and let you read it!
So. I got into Gryffindor! I know you wanted me into Ravenclaw Mum, but I guess the Sorting Hat didn't want me there. I have mostly A's but I'm trying to bring up those grades.
I had my first duel with Zero Blue My best friend, shocking, I know. I won the duel, which made me so happy, and I hope you are proud of me. Lets see, I also am maybe going to start a group study with my friends Aliea Frost and Mikale Norster two fellow Gryffindor's I met in the common room. I haven't broken my glasses yet but I'm not making any promises! And besides, I've learned how to repair them so we won't need to buy new ones ever again!
But I really miss you guys. I know its cliché, but its true. How's my little fur ball Mika? I hope she's well. And that she isn't coughing up a lot of hair-balls, I know it was my job to clean them!

                                                                                                   With lots of Love,
                                                                                                                                   Sophie Murphy

Sighing quietly, Sophie tied the letter to her owl Kiyoko, and allowed her to fly off. She watched as the Snowy white owl flew into the vast sun, which was just starting to set. As the Owl disappeared, she walked down the flight of stairs and back to the Gryffindor common room.

Goodbye lovelies!

Dear Mom and Dad,

Hope everything is going well back in the house! I'm sure that the two of you are enjoying your time home alone, but don't get too comfortable! Dean and I will be back in Nottingham for winter break soon enough. I am doing well at the school so far. I've made some good friends, met some mysterious people, and cast a few successful charms. I embarrassed myself a bit in the Dueling Club the other day, but it wasn't anything too bad. Nothing to worry about!

The castle is beautiful. I can see how this place captivated you for so long. The people here are extremely friendly, too! I've met a Gryffindor girl, Eris, who I am getting along quite well with, and a Slytherin named Avalon too. We spent the train ride up together, and I still keep in touch! I'm sure you've heard by now that I was sorted into Ravenclaw. It turned out to be the right choice! I think I'm really doing well in my studies and my extracurriculars.

I haven't seen much of Dean yet, but it's only been a couple of weeks. I think it might even be better if we don't talk so much at the castle. We get along fine, but it's nice to have a separate identity here, you know?

Well, I don't have much time left before my next class. Say hi to Bridgit for me, and write back whenever you can! I'll hear from you soon!

Love,
Adam

Hi Mum!
I hope this letter reaches you safely - I'm not entirely sure how this whole 'owl' thing works just yet, but I'm sure that it won't be too difficult to figure out.
So far, Hogwarts is absolutely AMAZING! I've been sorted into Ravenclaw house - long story short, the students are divided up into four houses: Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw is the house of wisdom - I guess my love of books came in handy after all! All of the housemates that I've met so far are very nice, and everyone's just been so welcoming. To put it simply, you might have to drag me away at the end of my seventh year!
Taking the train up here was a long journey, but it was really interesting. I spent most of my time looking out of the window. We passed a lot of hills from what I remember - most of the journey was definitely passing through the countryside. When we got to Hogsmeade station (the train station next to Hogwarts), we were led to these little boats at the edge of a lake. As the boats set off, we came across the most beautiful castle. And you'll never guess what - that castle was Hogwarts!
It shouldn't be too much longer until my lessons start. I'm definitely looking forward too them, in contrast to most of my fellow students. I'll send you another letter sometime next week, just to let you know how they're going.
For now, however, I shall say goodbye. Missing you loads!
Lots of love,
Louisa
