Physical Description

Build: Tiberius stands at 4’9”, an average height that will hopefully put him on the path to being as tall as the other men in the Wrex family. He has pale skin – even paler than the rest of his family as he prefers to spend his time indoors – and his round face is peppered with the same freckles that plague ever young member of his family. They tend to fade as they get older and he hopes that he’ll follow suit. Tiberius has a relatively thin build as while sports and athletics are very popular with the Wrex family that trait seems to have missed him. He does have some muscle as he occasionally needs to climb trees to get away from his rowdier cousins.
Hair: Tiberius has dark auburn hair which he keeps cut relatively short, although still longer than his father would like. When away from his parents, he tends to be neglectful of it and let it grow even longer still. He usually only remembers when it starts to get in his eyes. He’s been thinking of cutting it much shorter recently.
Eyes: Tiberius has dark blue eyes which he got from his mother, Isla. Other than Isla, he is the only one in his family who doesn’t have steely grey eyes. His father, Gaius, secretly resents any part of him that is too similar to his mother. It wasn’t too noticeable before Tiberius’ older brother, Doremus, was revealed to be a squib – as Doremus was the spitting image of their father and who Gaius put all of his expectations on to.
Style: Tiberius dresses casually – too casually for a child from his kind of family. Even wearing jeans rather than joggers turns into a negotiation between him and his parents. His favourite piece of clothing is characteristically unremarkable: a plain black hoodie which is too big for him. But its significance comes from it belonging to his older brother. He has one plain black suit with a white shirt and blue tie for special occasions but he hopes that he won’t have to wear it while at school. Due to his poor eyesight, Tiberius needs to wear glasses and has chosen a pair of plain black-rimmed square spectacles. At Hogwarts, Tiberius styles his uniform as casually as he can get away with. He usually doesn’t tuck his shirt in until prompted to by a teacher and keeps his tie slightly loose just under his undone top button. His shoes were newly polished when he originally brought them but they got scuffed quickly and only receive a new coat whenever he goes home for the holidays.

Family History [Before Birth]
Tiberius Wrex is the middle child of Gaius Wrex and Isla Wrex (née Glenroy). Gaius is a high ranking official in the Scottish branch of the Ministry of Magic. He is a former Slytherin Quidditch Captain and the youngest of Lucien Wrex’s seven children. It’s at Hogwarts that Gaius met Isla, a Ravenclaw with a love for art. They married shortly after school and moved to Edinburgh, although this was a few hours away from Isla’s native Aberdeen they wanted their children to have a strong support network so it was fitting as Gaius’ family is so much larger.
There, Gaius got a job in the Ministry thanks to his father’s connections. Meanwhile Isla pursued her love of art, being commissioned by rich families to paint moving portraits. She particularly liked creating portraits for deceased family members; while it may seem morbid, she loved bringing a family member’s likeness to life so they can watch over their children and descendants. They enjoyed their life, living close to Gaius’ six siblings as they began to have children. The Wrexes had what felt like their own little village consisting of their large houses on the outskirts of Edinburgh/Midlothian. Isla was the last to fall pregnant, a few years into her career. She fully intended on continuing to work but pressures from Gaius and his family pushed her to reconsider. Although she loved being with her children while they grew up it’s clear that she holds some resentment towards Gaius and his family because of this. It’s a sore spot which rears its head occasionally in their marriage.
They named their first child Doremus. He was the spitting image of his father who was elated to be having a son. Although he was growing into an aloof and absent husband, Gaius was a very present and active father with Doremus. He would read to him, play with him, and take him to watch his older cousins play Quidditch. During this time, Gaius and Isla were growing apart. She missed her family and felt like an outcast amongst the boisterous Wrexes. When Doremus turned one, Isla left Edinburgh for Aberdeen. She visited as often as she could but Gaius never took the child up north or went to visit her. On one of her visits down south, she and Gaius rekindled their relationship for a time. When she discovered that she was pregnant, Isla reluctantly moved back to the capital.
Early Life [Birth to 5 Years Old]
Tiberius Wrex was born in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh at 00:15 on the fifth of July 2013. He was a quiet and easy to handle baby, well loved in his large extended family as he could be passed around for cuddles without a fuss. As he grew into a toddler, his father tried to include him in the games with Doremus but his second son showed little interest. Tiberius preferred to play by himself or be read to. As he spent more time indoors than his brother and father, he was the only one to catch his mother painting. It became their little secret; he would play quietly and she would paint. Sometimes she would paint exciting pictures for Tiberius: fire-breathing dragons, duels between great wizards etc. He loved them and their quality time together made Isla feel more at home in Edinburgh.
From the age of three, Tiberius tried to get involved in the lessons that his brother and cousins attended. In the Wrex family, once a child turns five, they begin their primary tutoring to prepare them for Hogwarts. However, this was far too late for Tiberius’ liking and so he tried to gate-crash their lessons as often as possible. The family governess, Agnes Plimm, was a kind and patient woman. She would let him sit in a little chair at the front with her – both so that she could keep an eye on him but also because, on days when the rest of her students refused to listen, she would just speak to Tiberius. He didn’t understand everything that she was talking about but his eyes were always lit up and he looked more engaged than any student she had seen before.
It was around this time that it became clear Tiberius was quite different when compared to the mischievous Wrex family. His brother and cousins preferred to play pranks – sometimes quite cruel – on each other and the older members of the family and they enjoyed playing and watching sports. On more than one occasion someone has had their wand confiscated by a parent to stop them trying to perform underage magic. Tiberius, on the other hand, was getting into reading and spent as much time as possible with his nose in a book. The only danger he would get in to was climbing the large bookshelves in his father’s study.
Primary Education [5 to 11 Years old]
Finally, it was time for Tiberius to formally begin his education. As well as the normal lessons, he would attend additional tutoring with the governess whenever she would allow it. He was excelling in his lessons which resulted in a bit of jealousy from the other young members in his family, particularly Doremus. His brother started a rumour that Tiberius was a squib and would never become a real wizard. At the same time, Doremus was soon to turn eleven and hadn’t yet had his first instance of magic while almost every other family member had.
When Doremus’ eleventh birthday came and went with no sign of magic, the family was devastated. He was the perfect son: athletic, handsome, and confident. Gaius tried to rationalise the situation but eventually had to come to terms with his worst fear: his favourite son was a squib. Showing just how conditional his love was, Gaius sent Doremus away to the west coast to live with his sister, Callista, who was also a squib. Then he turned his ‘affections’ to Tiberius.
Tiberius hated how easily his brother was cast away. He began sending letters to him. Even though he only received answers occasionally, that never stopped him. The letters became less of a correspondence and more of a diary after a while. He still writes to his brother to this day, although he hasn’t received a response in almost two years.
Not long after Doremus had been sent away, Isla gave birth to a little girl whom they named Eudora. Tiberius fell in love with her immediately, determined to never make her feel the same way that Doremus and the rest of the family had made him feel. He would always read to her, and whenever he learnt something new, he would go and relay the information to her, relishing in the engaged babbles she would let out.
Once his father started seeing him as his last hope, Tiberius underwent rigorous training to become the same arrogant quidditch star his father was at Hogwarts. Gaius was a formidable Beater back in his day. The most he's managed to get from Tiberius is that he'll try out as a Chaser when the time comes. His father began getting more desperate at Tiberius’ eleventh birthday approached.
Tiberius' first instance of magic finally happened just over a month before he turned eleven and was during a bout of uncharacteristic anger. His father was reading the newspaper while disparaging Doremus. At the time, Tiberius was ten years old and was also concerned that he might be a squib. He glared at his father as he talked about his brother. Then the newspaper began to smoke; slowly at first then it suddenly burst into flames. Gaius was so relieved that his son was a wizard he didn't even punish Tiberius.
