Debuffs

Quicker than even the referee's eyes could spot, three slithering snakes snuck off to sneakily swindle their opponents. Dan and Mellani dive towards Pax, Dan seizing onto their broom tail to hinder their movements via blagging and Mellani attacking them with a well-placed cobbing movement with her recently sharpened elbows, and both hits landed on the penalty lap-taker as easily as if they hadn't tried to dodge at all.

Equally sharp elbows, this time belonging to Maggie, landed on Oonagh, who had just gotten off the bench after the fall of Ethan towards the faraway ground. Unfortunately for the newly airborne first-year, her recent takeoff had made her too distracted to spot the elbows coming her way, and she too was cobbed. Despite all the dirty, dirty fouls happening on the field, no one seemed to notice any of them except the affected victims...

Second-String Actions

This round on the bench, Gryffindor lost two of its second-string players to the skies, leaving just two to stay on the sideline - but they did so with as much gusto, enthusiasm, relish, or what say you as if they'd been four! Nicholas and Avery both screamed for Oonagh as loudly as they could, equally able to be heard by their fellow second-string. How sweet! Perhaps they should join a cheerleading squad.

Slytherin's second-strings were also two for four... but all four were still on the bench, so perhaps Aamon and Charlotte simply spaced out for a moment? Meanwhile, Violeta continued to cheer Dan on with as much excitement as before, but unfortunately her captain seemed to be too busy blagging to hear her this time around... and this time, Remedy joined in on the cheer, directing it towards Mellani, who heard her loud and clear! Two, four, six, eight!

The Quaffle

Only two ladies went for the Quaffle this time, a seventh-year versus a second-year... "And it's Riddle versus Kanjilal for some points! With no Keepers at the hoops, it's going to be an easy score for whoever manages to grab that Quaffle!" Sure enough, as Koko grabbed the Quaffle for the first time, then the second, then the third, she sunk three easy scores through unguarded hoops, even as Shubhangi managed somehow to hurt herself on one of the Quaffle grabs. "Yes, that's thirty points for Slytherin from Riddle, all right! And - oof, has Kanjilal somehow injured herself? She doesn't look too good..."

But then! Perhaps no one had expected anything from a second-year going up against Slytherin's admittedly terrifying part-Veela, but Shubhangi managed to wrestle the Quaffle from Koko's hands and flew towards the Slytherin hoops! "But wait! Kanjilal has the Quaffle and she's off to the Slytherin hoops! And - she's scored to put Gryffindor on the board! Ten points to the lions!"

One more from Koko put the snakes at forty points for the round, however, because the Slytherin Keeper was not about to let herself be bested by a second-year. "And that's fifty points total! Forty to Slytherin, ten to Gryffindor! What a round!"

The Snitch

And the Snitch is... ignored?

"Palmer's off doing... something, though I didn't quite see what... and Shaw doesn't seem to be looking for the Snitch, either! Seekers don't gotta Seek, apparently."

The Bludgers

Slytherin was on a roll, and Gryffindor tried their best to catch up only to find themselves hit for thrice the strength. While Pax was on their penalty lap, they tossed their bat to Oonagh, who then used double the bats to hit double the Bludgers at Dan - but he unfortunately and skillfully evaded both. "Palmer does the double dodge! Brown's Bludgers don't quite get him!" Percival, however, managed to catch one of the Bludgers sent at his captain and send it right back at Dan's would-be attacker. "Oh, and Rainwood's quite unhappy with Palmer's treatment! What a whammy right into Brown, and she is off her broom! Can - can someone check that she's all right? Maybe escort her to the Hospital Wing? I'm pretty sure bones aren't supposed to bend that way..."

Percival and Oliver weren't quite done, as there were two Bludgers running around and two of them. They dove for one each, the former aiming for the debuffed penalty lapper and the latter aiming for a lion fresh off the bench. Percival smacked the first Bludger right at Pax, sending them tumbling down off their penalty lap - "Oof! Cheaters never prosper, I suppose, but even that punishment seems a bit harsh, and Zhang too is down!" - and Oliver's aim at Charles rang true. "Azure is also out for the count! Those Slytherin Beaters are a mighty duo indeed!"

It was raining lions, with not much time left in the round. Would Gryffindor hit back?

KOB Fouls

With three of their teammates falling from the skies, Kora and Aodhan decided to take matters into their own hands, Keep things fresh, and Seek out revenge. It was time for another trip to Blatchville, Tennessee! Kora set her broom toward the person who had taken out so many of her fellow lions, Percival, and tried to physically knock him off the broom, but Percival dodged her as easily as if she wasn't even aiming for him. A screeching whistle split the air. "Eliot! Was that an attempted blatch I just saw? No matter that he's knocked off half the team - that is a foul for a reason! Penalty lap, right now!"

Aodhan, on the other hand, went for Avery - not his teammate, but his opponent. That had to be confusing, huh? His aim was truer and he managed to knock the green version from his broomstick, sending the would-be saviour tumbling to the ground, the first snake to truly fall and with no one to save him at that. Another whistle screeched into play. "Hey! Shaw! You too, off on a penalty lap! What part of blatching is illegal is so incomprehensible today?"

Unfortunately, Meyra - the last lion to attempt any action - would swoop for Pax and Charles, attempting to save either one of them (as Oonagh was beyond saving), but couldn't catch either one. At least Slytherin had to pull one of their second-strings now, too!

Avery cheered loudly alongside the Gryffindor benched Keeper for the girl she knew as Oogie. She knew the girl could hear them, but Avery just cheered louder. As much as she wanted to be in the sky and save her team that was falling quickly, she knew her time would come someday.

"Who do you think will be out there first of the two of us with how things are going?" Avery asked the benched keeper sitting next to her. So many of their team had fallen that very few were actually left of them. All Avery could hope was that they could pull out of their slump.

Percival eyes widened as he watched as Dan dodged two bludgers. That...was rather direct. A sneer pulled roughly across his mouth, grabbing onto his bat a bit more tightly. His knuckles turning slightly white as he moved forward and swung his bat against one of the bludgers that the seeker had dodged. Right at the one who dared to take one of their own. A laugh would bubble out of his mouth as he watched the girl fall toward the ground rather harshly. Honestly, he was rather certain that was the most damage he had done in a while. Maybe it was a bit cruel sending her to the Hospital Wing, but he could not find it within himself to really care. He had to do his job. Percival moved forward through the air, taking out a girl with bright hair. Sending another to the ground. Percival let out a cheer before flashing a smile toward Avery. His smile fell slightly as he realized Avery had fallen. Shoot.

Reducio

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

3. In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

It started to look like a deja vu. It was getting frustrating to see her teammates constantly falling from their brooms and she could do nothing to prevent it from happening. Maybe they should start gluing themselves to their brooms with a spell before the start of each game!

"So much for calling my attention," Meyra sighed seeing Oonagh falling from her broom, "She could have at least followed her own advice...Tsk..."

OLIVER ARMANI FIRST STRING BEATER

Oliver had been waiting for his opportunity, eyes narrowed, he dived for it, getting right behind the bulger and shooting it right at a lion that hadn't gotten a chance to do much yet. It was very clear to Oliver that he was the best most important role on the team. Getting one of the opposing players off the team. Without breaking any rules either, like Aodhan. Of course he would resort to cheating. Not spending much time thinking on him, Oliver got his mind back on the game. Shit. One of there's was gone. Fine, it would be fine. One gone on there's, vs the four? five was it? On the other team. The match may as well have been in the bag.

There was something simply beautiful about a well-intentioned strategy coming together somehow better than anticipated.

Maybe one day she would tire of working against much-younger children, but as it was, easy victories were still victories — until they weren't. Koko clenched her jaw when the Gryffindor girl managed to snag the Quaffle from her; her nose wrinkled slightly, but for once, she refused to let it bother her too much. In fact, she'd handled her usually-volatile emotions very well today. When the stupid little worm with the name of @Oonagh Brown yelled something at her from across the pitch, she... said nothing back and had simply rolled her eyes.

She wasn't extremely aware of what was happening, except that no Slytherins had been called out for cheating, and that Percival was obviously wreaking havoc — more havoc than intended, in fact! Koko's head practically swivelled on her neck as she watched him send bludgers at multiple Gryffindors, but in particular Oonagh Brown. The hit made Koko's stomach turn, and she quickly glanced away. The child might have been Oonagh Brown, but she was still a child, and, well, bones...

The announcer was right. Bones weren't meant to bend that way.

Any concern towards the other team was quickly forgotten when Gryffindor's Seeker got called for a penalty. Koko looked, and lo and behold, Slytherin's favourite Avery was falling. Koko swore under her breath and adjusted her grip on her broom, but there was nothing to be done. The only thing...

'Better watch your back, kid!' she shouted to @Aodhan Shaw.

In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).

In the role of Keeper a critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice. A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.

Note: Critical failure and critical success chances can be expanded with certain abilities and skills.

In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.

Lottie's eyes darted around the pitch at dizzying speed, her excitement nearly as palpable as her relief at not yet having to assume a position on the pitch. She was still having a difficult time differentiating fear and anticipation, and with the energy of these matches being so familiar to her, it was either growing more and more difficult or she was growing more and more stubborn. She would have to take over the role of keeper, eventually, one day, though perhaps not just yet.

And, really, she was quite impressed by how... elegant it all came together. The execution of
a strategy performed by talented players with a few years of experience under their belt made it nearly as beautiful as a ballet, though with a bit more violence and a lot more sweat. Lottie waved those thoughts away for another day, pushing down the introspective ponderings and replacing them with weak camaraderie as she cheered her teammates on from the safety of the bench.

Penalty lap just grate its fine just fine thats what she needed to get focused and this would do it. the air felt good as she did her lap. She felt annoyed then how could she let this happen its fine its fine thats what she kepts telling herself. Kora tugged at her hair letting out a huff before gripping her broom harder.

Okay, that hurts the bugger.
I see the match scores once again, and its very evident how a newbie has such bleak chances to make it through such a match. However, I am not just any other newbie! I am "The Newbie!" . I know I have the grit and determination to make it past the obstacles. For now, I need to score more points. But wait, what the actual cronkers is up with our players?
Deja-vu who? I haven't seen these many KOBs since....well the last match. Honestly, I don't think we can afford any of that now.

Okay, fingers-crossed.
I better avoid losing my broom..... and the match. Yeah...good self-motivation I guess.
