Her wild hallucinations slowed down and eventually came to a stop. A pounding headache threatened to have Iris pass out again. Four girls stood over her each wearing a different expression. One was extremely pale, another confused. Iris closed her eyes to stop the spinning and she sat up. A girl was siting next to her urging her to wake up. Iris righted herself braced against the wall.

"I-I'm fine." Iris stuttered- shakily getting to her feet. She almost collapsed again as a round of dizziness overtook her again. "I think it would be best if I- I saw a nurse?" her voice cracked and failed her a few times before she got the whole sentence out.

Iris paused as her vision was being weird, she thought she saw a Dementor in the window and her eyes widened. She shook her head and it went away. Something was defiantly wrong. "I'm not so sure I can get there with-without passing out again." An unusual feeling of feeling socially awkward-ness added to the pressure of her emotions.

She thought she heard weird noises, like someone screaming from the closed door. Iris assumed it was just another hallucination and waited for it to go away.

Things had gone from weird to worse. People were yelling and fighting and an array of profanity erupted. She had just been observing the mess and the professors walked out! A window was smashed, people were terrified with fright@Mari Haynes, it was utter chaos. Fire was erupted everywhere. Katrina wished with all of her might that this was just a cruel joke- or a dream. But it wasn't going away anymore. All of Katrina's instinct to help kicked in and her awkwardness faded away.
Katrina found her wand and brought it out. " Extinguo!" she cast the charm on a clump of fire she had ran to. Another person had done the same @River Dewlight Someone had finally said something @Leah Isbell .
"EVERYONE! GET OVER HERE AND BRING AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN! EVERYONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO CAST EXTINGO PLEASE DO THAT NOW! COME OVER HERE!" Katrina coughed surprising herself incredibly on the fact that she was actually taking charge. "PEOPLE THAT KNOW HOW TO CAST HEALING SPELLS OR BANDAGING SPELLS COME OVER HERE TO HELP EVERYONE THAT NEEDS HELP!" Katrina desperately hoped that this would help. "MOVE EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN AWAY FROM THE FIRE AS YOU COME OVER HERE!"

Lark covered her mouth and nose with the palm of her hand, the other one pushing aside a couple chairs to the outside of the room as she looked frantically for Dale. People seemed like they were either fleeing or choosing to fight. Looking around the room, smoke starting to irritate her eyes and blur her vision she caught sight of Serena and Elz running over to... James and Gem? Lark couldn't be sure until she heard James yelling to everyone around him. At least they were all together they couldn't get into much trouble with the Giant whatever people if they had one another.

Coughing she moved aside as a couple more students rushed past her. Where had Dale gone? Maybe he had already gotten out..? She could only ho- Yelping she turned as someone grabbed hold of her, fearing it was another one of the intruders.

"Lark! Jesus Lark, listen you gotta get outta here!"

Lark felt her chest deflate seeing it Dale who had grabbed her. Another wave of adrenaline shot through her body as she looked around the room. It seemed like someone was blocking the exit out. "Dale the door." Lark groaned, another cough leaving her throat as she moved closer to Dale and further from some of the fire blazing at her skin.

"Don't worry about me... I'm going to try to help out a bit." Lark opened her mouth to protest but had to cover it again, another cough rising in her throat. As Dale's fingers released her, Lark felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She couldn't just leave him! Tears welled in the corners of her golden eyes, whether from the heat or thought of leaving Dale behind Lark wasn't sure, most likely both.

She watched as Dale drew his wand and cast a spell towards the Giants. If it hadn't been for the raging fire prickling her skin and smoke choking her, this would have seemed like a dream. The handsome hero shooting a spell at the evil so-and-so. Something from the books her father had read to her every weekend. It all seemed to glamorous then but standing here now in the thick of it... even if she felt rather starry eyed in awe watching Dale.. it didn't seem so intriguing anymore. The thought of Dale or her friends possibly being hurt, or worse, expelled... from life did not seem so romantic. She had heard about it, read about it and well, was now living it.

"I won't-" Another round of coughs broke loose from the young girl. She heard a crashing noise and looked to see her friends trying to work on putting the fire out. On this side of the room, Lark didn't feel like there was much she could do. The tables closest to her were already ablaze and chairs soon to follow. Instead, she stood grabbing gently at the back of Dale's shirt standing as close to him as she could without being in the way, her mind grasping at a way to help.

What. The. Ever. Loving....

One minute she was laughing and joking around with Hunter, dancing their heads off and the next it seemed like all hell had broken loose. Wasn't Hogwarts supposed to be safe? Genevieve couldn't recall anything like THIS happening at Illvermorny. Sure, the standard pranks and shenanigans but ... burning down the entire Ball Room.. well that was something else.

Pressing herself against Hunter as people pushed behind her, Vi grunted and cursed under her breath. "What the-" Crinkling her nose she took a step back. "The hell is their problem?" That's when the smell hit her nose. Fire. "You've got to be kidding me!" At first she expected it was a prank gone wrong. Someone setting off a stinkbomb or cherry bomb.. not an actual. "Fire!?" Vi's mouth gaped open. Of course] something like this would happen just when the two of them found a minute to enjoy themselves.

"Come on, careful!"

Gritting her teeth, Vi followed close to Hunter squeezing his hand probably tighter than she should have been. Seeing what Hunter was Vi realized that someone was in front of the door. "Jeez, they're actually fighting them..." Vi breathed as she watched a handful of students either lunge or start waving their wands towards the ...whatever was going on. Watching some of the students jumping into action made Vi feel a sense of respect for the students at Hogwarts.. Wait.. Was that someone on fire?! "We have to get out of here. Where the hell did Delia go? Don... Owen?!" Shit.. Del you better not be in the middle of all that bull-.. Thinking to herself, Vi pushed against Hunter's back. "For that matter where is our fearless Headmaster??" Vi growled. Wasn't he supposed to be taking care of them on this little adventure abroad? Why was he mysteriously nowhere to be seen? A crackle caught Vi's attention as a chair snapped and hissed at the two of them shooting out sparks as it fell in on itself. "Hunter!" Snatching at his shoulders, she whirled him around as the fire lapped at the edges of her dress just missing the boy's pants. Sizzling and the smell of melting fabric as it chewed along the hem of her dress, the synthetic fabric curling away. "Fu-" Cutting herself short the purple haired girl yelled out. She hadn't been thinking it was more of a knee-jerk reaction to put herself in-between Hunter and the fire. Not that she regretted the decision but she certainly was paying for it as she felt her skin on her calves burn and heat rise along her thighs. Frantically yanking off her black cover-up, Vi wrenched her arms out of the sleeves and tried to pat at the fire wincing as it bit into her skin further but hoping to put it out quickly as tears streamed from her face.
Action : Currently... well... hem on FIAH! Attempting to pat out what sparks had started to burn and catch Vi's dress on fire.

The two girls were soon joined by another pair in extinguishing the flames encompassing the boy. Bridget breathed a sigh of relief because one of them was Thora. The situation had left no time for hesitation, but Bridget would never have forgiven herself if something happened to her friend. Although she may have seemed to have acted without thinking, the truth was she had thought through her actions beforehand; the problem was her act first, communicate later disposition.

With the combined efforts of four of them, this individual situation would almost certainly be under control in no time. Unless for some reason these flames were enchanted, although the arsonist didn't seem to have cast any spells, but regardless they would not let this student die. One of the remaining Professors, a woman in a torn red dress she didn't recognize, nodded in approval at them and then raced off to tackle the next issue. At least she seemed somewhat competent--perhaps for once a Hogwarts teacher would prove useful.

"Not positive, but some really tall people--part giants, maybe, knowing Hogwarts' track record--started the fire and blocked off the exits. I think they were trying to kidnap someone too but I dunno…" she responded to Thora's entirely merited question. What was happening? And why?

Not waiting to see if her first Extinguo worked, (will leave the success/failure of the spell up to the moderator) Bridget prepared to cast again at the ballroom flooring. The brunette was certainly not forgetting about the aflame boy--no, she would find a way to put him out no matter what--but for now there were other people to worry about.

"Extinguo," the small girl said before dissolving into a fleeting coughing fit. The smoke was getting thicker by the second and at the current rate, people would suffocate before the fire got to them. She yanked off her mask--it was only getting in the way of her peripheral vision and wasn't helping any. Bridget dropped it at her feet, not willing to let it out of arm's reach in case for some reason she needed it. In situations like this, there was no way of knowing what might be useful.
Action: Cast the Extinguishing Charm (Extinguo) at the floor.

Karilyna whipped around, staring at the heavy doors that had seemingly just slammed behind the girls. Great. They were shut out from the Masquerade Ball, and the screams literally shaking the door on its hinges did not comfort the girl about what was happening within. Honestly speaking, she was a first year from Ilvermorny, so what could she actually do? The Hogwarts people would probably just disregard her, but whatever was happening inside still unsettled the first year.

Glancing around at her friends, she realized she had actually looked a little more disturbed than she had wished--or attempted to look. That was also great. "No, I'm fine," she assured Phyllis. Having her phobia overwhelm her in a strange place, on a different continent than home--whatever that was--was not the best thing that could've happened in that moment. "I'm with Astrid, I'm staying here. Phyllis, do you want to stay?" She expected that her best friend would probably want to stay as well, but who knew? Phyllis was slightly... unpredictable.

"So. Tei-" Karilyna was about to finish instructing the others on what to do, back in her own element, when Iris finally woke up. "Oh, um, hi, Iris. Yes, you need to see a nurse. Um, Teiki, if you could bring her to the Hospital Wing, that would be great." Karilyna was trying not to be bossy, but come on--once you start you can't stop, right? How were you even supposed to talk to someone that had just fainted?

Flickering light from the inside informed the observant young girl that something very wrong was happening inside. What was even going on? This was certainly a disaster past what she expected out of Hogwarts. Expecting Teiki to lead Iris to the Hospital Wing--hopefully without a hitch--Karilyna turned to the door. Kicking the wood with her combat boot as hard as she could, the girl tried to make herself known. Hopefully she wouldn't get murdered--hopefully, no one would die here. "Let us in!" the girl's voice sounded painfully quiet, yet echoed throughout the empty corridors. Hopefully, someone inside would hear their plea and they could get back in.

James' words shocked her into action, Elzabeth noticed a few chairs in the line of the fire so she rushed to pull them away. She started to get into a rhythm, pulling tables and chairs like they were nothing.

Elzabeth thought she was doing pretty well until she got clipped by a tablecloth that had set fire.

"Ow!" She recoiled, her skin burning. The sensation brought tears to her eyes, the closest she had gotten to a burn like that was a hot glue gun. A few tears slipped down her face but thanks to panic and a bit of adrenalin she continued.

It seemed she had gotten everything she could away from the fire, the boys had gone and broken a window which was helping air out the room. A good thing too, any more time she had to spend around this smoke might cause her to pass out. Just the thought of that made Elzabeth back up.

She was a mess, from the loose strands of hair and smeared makeup, to her singed dress that her mother would fuss over later. She felt like a mess too, her arm burned and her eyes stung from the smoke but she couldn't stop, people might get hurt if she did.

"Come on Elzabeth, find something else." She muttered to herself, making her way to the boys with her hand covering her arm.

The heat was reaching him through his suit, making him sweat almost instantly. Tables and chairs were catching fire faster than he thought possible, causing some dangerous obstacles to be thrown in their path.

"We have to get out of here. Where the hell did Delia go? Don... Owen?!"

Hunter said some pretty colorful words under his breath, he was already focused on getting them out of here, the thought of his friends only made the impending feeling of doom worse.

"For that matter where is our fearless Headmaster??"

The question caused a scoff to leave Hunters' lips. "He's probably hiding." His words were tainted with venom, right now Hunter felt like he was fighting against all of this on his own even though he definitely wasn't.

Hunter kicked a burning piece of fabric away to try to clear their path, just as he did through a chair next to them let out a hiss and caved in, sending flames and sparks their way. He didn't have enough time to move and didn't want to at that. He would have much rather taken the flames and let Vi go on but it seemed she had other ideas.

She covered him around, causing her to get the worse of it. "Genevieve no!" Hunter cried, grabbing Vi as fast as he could.

Too late, the damage was already done. Vi's dress was on fire, the smell of burning fabric reaching their nose. Vi struggled to take off her cover-up and pat away at the flames, visibly hurt and crying.

Hunter panicked, snuffing out the flames the best he could. "Shit, are you okay?" Stupid question Hunter, she was obviously not okay. He grabbed her waist and started forwards again, he knew she was in pain but they would both die if they stayed here.

Instead of repeating the events from earlier, Hunter grabbed her dress and bunched it up on the side, bringing it slightly off of the floor and away from the flames. "I'm going to get you out of here, I promise."

Actions: Snuff out Genevives dress, and try to get out of this mess.

There was no time to wait for someone else. There were students in trouble and she needed to act fast. There was one student that seemed to be the main victim of the half-giants. The one blocking the door was the one initiating what looked to be a kidnap. This was truly getting serious. Lives were at stake, and Maya was going to do her best to prevent lives from being taken.

She left @Boniface Murtagh MacTavish where he was and she quickly made her way towards the half-giant who was trying to grab the child. Maya, however, did not go straight towards the creature head-on, she sneaked around the best that she could between chairs, tables and students to try and get the giant from behind.

As she was making her way to the giant, she saw that some of the students were following suit. While most of them were extinguishing the fire that was building up in the middle of the ballroom, there were some students who were making their own weapons or making more holes in the window to let the smokey air out. Maya could not help but to smile. These kids most likely observed her own actions, and she did not give them the benefit of the doubt in the beginning. She was proud of them.

But now wasn't the time to recognize Hogwarts pride. Now was the time for her to save the child who happened to be the giants' prey. Maya, on her knees sneaking around the tables and chairs, her handmade spear in one hand, made her way behind the half-giant. Without hesitation, she took her spear and she aimed the glass tip into the back of the giant's knee, using all of her strength. A place on any being-- creature or human -- that would be sensitive to pain. While she knew she wouldn't be able to defeat the giants in one blow, at least she hoped to slow them down.
ACTION: Maya sneaks up behind the giant by the door and strikes with all of her strength the giant from behind into the back of the knee using her handmade spear.

It felt hard to breathe, and he couldn't tell if it was the pulsing anxiety, or the smoke clogging up his throat. Not that it mattered very much, he was avoiding his own death, more so everyone else's. It would've been nice to think that he had his life right ahead of him, that he'd be able to go back to the common room -- or maybe that none of this ever happened, that it was just a heavily auditory dream that had him shaking.

But it wasn't. This was real, this was happening, and he had to act.

Out the corner of his eye, he saw his lightly-colored hair friend, Lark, standing, looking around for something to do. He pulled himself over to her, gripping her wrist tightly to guide her to an clearer spot, one they could focus in. He wasn't sure if that was done to assure her, or himself.

"Lark! Lark, are y-" He breathed too deep, sending himself into a fit of coughing, tears prickling out the corners of his eyes. It burned, everything was so hot, it made his arms prickle and his fingers shake. He couldn't help it, he felt like he was on the verge of death. What a terrible way to die. "Are you alr- ugh, we hav- we have ta move objects away from e' fire, but spread em' out! We don't need a bit of flame attachin' to one chair, and lighting a while new section ov tha goddamn room on fire!" He swallowed thickly, getting a hold on a chair, pushing it away from another bundle of them. He hadn't realized how hard-- how chaotic it was, watching a bundle of students attempt to extinguish a fire and also try to bring down a giant. His body felt like it was going to give out, but he hadn't felt the lingering feeling of a blackout yet. He had a lot to stay awake and active for, clearly.

"Elzabeth! Oh- ar- yer hand, ar- didja burn yerself?" There was too much happening at one, he was asking too many questions, and he felt like this was going to turn out just as badly as any other situation he was put in. Excellent.

James caught site of Gem choking deeply on the thick smoke. He figured he was unaffected only due to the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He bolted to an unaffected corner of the hall and scrounging around in the chaos he managed to collect a small bundle of soft white linen napkins.

A few glasses of everything punch also stood abandoned in a dim, ashy corner. He did his best to soak them in the punch, hoping that the iridescent liquid would do something to catch the smoke. He threw one of the napkins to Gem.

"Wrap it around you mouth and nose." he said, a worried expression appearing on his face, "You might be breathing in your Grandma's lemonade or whatever but at least it'll stop you from passing out from smoke inhalation."

He wrapped one on himself and then distributed the wet napkins to Lark, Elz and Serena.

"I think most people are starting to get the fire under control. I think what we need to focus on now is an escape route... I don't think it's going to help us much to keep mindlessly smashing against the locked door... Lark, it's brilliant to see you safe by the way, did you see any professors when you were over the other side of the room? It's like they deliberately drained this place of adult supervision I swear. Gem, when you were at the door... what did you actually see? I heard people talking about giants, but how many are we talking and what are they doing? Did they trap themselves inside the room with us? Here's the thing... unless they have some kind of death wish, I reckon these guys have an plan to get themselves out of here... or at least they don't actually want bring this whole place down on top of their heads... Just before he could utter another word.

Screams echoed throughout the ballroom. Shocked at the sudden turn of events the widespread chaos that the two Giants were causing made Alan paused in horror. With no way out and some from what he could see no teachers around to assist his first instinct was to reach for his wand and grabbed a nearby chair as he looked to Gris as a small spark lit up in his eyes "Let's go Gris! grab a chair!" As his friend took charge the young lad followed suit, stumbling over his robes causing his mask to fall and shatter on the ground. With a long pause, he shook his head as it was no time to worry about it now "By the way, I'll hold you to that dance offer!"

In attempts to draw attention away from the blond girl who used the dancing spell charm he ran with a chair in the toe as he shouted at Gris "I'll go help that girl!"The bold Ravenclaw aimed his wand and chants "Vermillious!" a flash of red sparks aimed at one of the Giants face in an attempt to temporarily blind one of them.

Gem did just as he was told, wrapping the wet napkin around his nose and mouth, tying it in the back of his head. He smelled cinnamon tea, his least favorite, but it really outweighed the way the smoke felt-- he didn't stay on it too long, rather, he wanted to stop thinking about the cinnamon tea. Disgusting.

"I- well, I think there were two ov em', somefin' about a kidnappin'? I-" He was double tasking, spreading the chairs out whilst keeping them away from the fire and racking his memory for any context for the other situation at hand. It was increasingly more difficult not to burn himself, but he managed. "I don' know if they're destroyin' everything, an' I don't know where they came from. I don't even know why they- I'm not positive about anythin', but I doubt we can help!"

He started to wet more of the napkins, tossing them at any of the students who seemed like they were physically strained from the suffocating smoke. He hoped the way he was wearing it would give them enough context on what to do with it, some kids needed more direction than others, but he'd generally refused to believe anyone from Hogwarts was that dumb.

"Can someone tell us wot ta do!? We can't go around like sittin' ducks-! Aw, crap," he shook his head, finding that shouting did him no good. He just needed to stick around his friends, hand out wet napkins for people to put in, that ought to keep him safe for now.
