(Solo) A New Home
At the overwhelming smell of gas station breakfast, Quincy's eyes blinked open slowly. Once, twice. She straightened when she saw a vaguely familiar building through the car window she had been looking out of. Quincy looked around, realizing just why she was in the backseat of the bright yellow minivan she was in. Her sister, Amy, sat next to her, snuggling uncomfortably into the travel pillow she was using. Quincy looked through the car window once again, and upon realizing the car wasn't moving, craned her head to the left so she could peer into the front seat.
Where were her parents?
Quincy unbuckled so she could reach over to her left and shake Amy awake.
"Amy, Amy wake up- we've stopped," Quincy had to shake her a few more times before receiving any response- which consisted of a grunt. "Amy- mom and dad aren't here!"
Just as the words tumbled out of Quincy's mouth, her mother and father exited the door of the brownstone building outside. They were accompanied by a venerable woman, whom Quincy recognized.
"Grams!" The two girls cried, as if they were telepathically connected. Quincy unbuckled, thrusting herself out of the minivan in which she had previously sat and running to her grandmother with open arms.
"It's so good to see my favorite girls," Grams announced, laughing. Immediately Grams gathered Amy and Quincy and began leading her into the large Brownstone mansion she called home. "I'm sure you two are tired, so I'll show you your rooms." Quincy's eyes widened with excitement.
"My very own room? Wow, Grams, that's so cool!" Quincy and her sister climbed up the staircase like blundering elephants, vehemently discussing the plans they had in mind for what they would do to decorate.
Quincy jumped with the anticipation of what her very own room was to look like. She opened the door, excited. Though nothing could excite her more at that moment other than the prospect of her very own room. She pushed open the grand door, only to find something more than she'd ever imagined. It was huge! The queen-sized bed was luxurious! Every inch of that room, no matter how bare or exciting, filled her with such a rush she was left speechless.
However, the journey to London had taken quite a huge toll on Quincy. Upon seeing the luscious, soft pillows, the fluffy blanket, she craved a comfortable sleep. After putting on comfortable clothing and bidding all good nights and sweet dreams, she lay her head upon the thick pillow, snuggled into the comforter ready and waiting, and fell into much need sleep.
