Gathering At the Stables

Shauna really wanted to start yet another treasure trove and fill it with all the amazing magical plants that she could get her hands on. After speaking to some of the higher grade students she had learned that there was some things that could only be bought while others well could only be obtained by…less than honest means. Yes this did in fact mean stealing; now this put her in a pickle because well if she was totally honest with herself that she was not very sneaky. However with that said there was at least one ingredient that she desperately wanted to get her hands on…a Unicorn Horn.

Today was the weekend {mistake number one} therefore she truly thought all the professors would either be busy grading homework or away from the grounds with personal stuff. However there was no way for her to know for sure; so she was pretty much venturing into the unknown all alone {mistake number two} with nothing but her wand and some tools that she knew she could use to pick a lock with. Now that in itself is something she has only ever done once back at the orphanage; she had no idea how much of a difference there was between magical and non-magical locks {mistake number three}.

Even though Shauna had woken up bright and early to get a jump start on this task that she had sat up all night thinking about doing {mistake number four} she ended up not getting to her destination until after breakfast because she had taken a second to stop in the common room the put on her shoes. When she did that she ended up getting one shoe on before she fell asleep on the couch until her friend Ruthie woke her up for breakfast. Well…guess you can't go attempting to steal something on an empty stomach {mistake number five}; after breakfast she made her way out of the castle and over to the Care of Magical Creatures Stable.

The sight of these stables was truly amazing…not like she has any basis for comparison but that is beside the point. The stables, a long stone windowless building that was drab, but grand at the same time. A perfect rectangle plenty large enough for several gigantic beasts to comfortably sleep in. The top had an odd roof made of bricks, an angled sort of affair that seemed a lot as if someone had placed a long triangle on top of a long rectangular block.

A tall stone fence extended from the stables in a large circle. What was once a wooden pen had been replaced with a fortress of sorts. The new professor had taken precautions, and always keeps the door locked. A large chain link dome stops intruders from the air, or perhaps stops escapees from the ground.

As Shauna made it to the Stables she was not at all surprised to find the place was locked up tighter than a snare drum. She looked rather closely at the lock that the professor had used to lock up the stables with. It seemed to be very old fashioned and unless she was going completely crazy it seemed to be a muggle lock. Instead of taking out her wand she took out the tools she'd use for picking a lock; however she had no idea just how much noise a job like this would make {mistake number six}. However much to her surprise she actually made it inside now the question remained would she complete her mission without getting caught?
