Exploring the grounds
Evan had been eager to start exploring Hogwarts, but between his start of the year classes and generally being lost he hadn't had much chance. Every part of Hogwarts was full of wonder so he decided to explore one part each day he was here (if he had the time between studies of course)
Today was the great lake, the water stretching out in front of him for quite a while. The forbidden forest loomed to one side, and as curious as Evan was he would rather not go exploring in that place. His father, and the Headmaster had warned him about that place, he wasn't too eager to get lost or eaten by a werewolf.
There was a chill in the air as he stopped by the edge of the water, gentle waves slapping against the shore as the wind pushed it along. Evan was disappointed to find that it was impossible to see through the water to it's mysterious depths. "I really don't fancy swimming in there." he said, pulling his cloak tighter around his shoulders. It still was a lovely view and he decided to sit by the waters edge for his break, maybe if he sat still long enough he might see the giant squid he heard rumors about.

Exploring the grounds
Dakota had went to his casual place to...'relax' and push away all the stress in Hogwarts that made him just want to scream. He often went to the Great lake to calm down, even if it meant skipping his classes, his pace fast and breath heavy. He didn't mind anybody else being here-he knew that other students went here often but he would just ignore them most of the time. His dark hues flickered across the grassy landscape, a sigh of relief escaping from his lips as he approached it, at first thinking he was alone-until he approached the lake closer.
When he spotted blonde hair, he tensed up lightly, shoving his hands back into his pockets. He held in his breath and was silent, before releasing it once he noticed the the other boy was a Hufflepuff. Hufflepuffs weren't prone to be bullies...right? Glancing at the boy once, he blinked, before sighing out shakily and walking right in front of the lake, looking down at it. He didn't need to look over his shoulder to make sure there was nobody to push him into it, his body slowly beginning to relax from the thought. He closed his eyes and inhaled the sweet-like scent surrounding the lake-or perhaps it was just in his head.
After taking a few breaths, he opened his eyes, saying nothing despite the millions of things on his mind.

Evan had allowed himself to drift off into daydreams, the rhythmic motion of the water lulling him into a sort of stupor. He was brought out of his wild far away thoughts when he saw someone walk past him to the edge of the water. The boy seemed tense, and Evan hesitated at first but finally spoke up. "Hello there, it's a great time to be out here huh?" he asked. Evan was a very perceptive child, even from a young age he was very well attuned to peoples moods.
He got up from his spot on the grass and walked over, taking care to keep a respectable distance from the other first year. "My name is Evan by the way" a toothy grin spreading across his goofy face. "I'm a first year like you, wasn't the sorting pretty crazy?" he asked. Evan tended to talk way more than others may like but he felt that even if the conversation was mostly one sided it was still a good conversation to have.
"Let me know if I'm bothering you though, I tend to talk too much sometimes." he shrugged his shoulders "I can't help it though, I just feel like I have all this energy and I can't get it out fast enough, the customers at my mothers bakery loved it though." His laughter rang out over the lake. "My father always says that if I was wound any tighter I would fly off to the moon and have energy to spare."

Exploring the grounds
After the lunch Mary had a bit of time before the classes start again so she decided to go for a walk in the grounds. Actually the weather was pretty good for this time of the year so maybe she would sit on the grass or a bench and read on of the book she had in her bag. She was talking towards the lake, but didn't wanted to get too close, her brother had told her many stories about the creatures leaving in there and even if she knew deep down that most of it was probably a lie, she didn't feel that comfortable.
While approaching she saw two guys, once for Hufflepuff just like her and the other from Gryffindor. She didn't wanted to seem rude and interrupt them so she just continued down the path. Passing next to them she overheard their conversation.

She didn't really notice it but she had slowed down and it made her smile, they guy seemed to be just as talkative and enthusiastic about things like she was.

When Dakota heard the boy speak, he turned around, at first not saying anything. He hesitated, blinking slowly and swallowing hard. His heartbeat quickened, and he fiddled with his robe nervously, “Heh, yeah I guess...” He finally responded, biting down on his lip momentarily and staying quiet for a long moment. He wasn’t an expert at starting or having conversations, so he decided to just wing it, “Oh, I’m Dakota....Dakota Parker. I didn’t expect to be a Gryffindor at all!” He exclaimed, his voice starting to rise.
A sheepish smile appeared on his face, his cheeks reddening lightly, “Really? Thanks, I’m not good at starting conversations.” He admitted, looking down in slight embarrassment, “Although, I do love to bake things, it’s quite fun.” He stated, about to continue when he notified another Hufflepuff-a girl-approach them, causing him to tense up lightly. The first thing he thought was that he was going to get jumped by them, it was two against one so why not?
He went back to looking down sheepishly, shoving his hands back into his pockets and shifting side to side. ‘Come on don’t be a wimp,’ he thought, forcing himself to push away negative thoughts-his brothers weren’t here so why should he worry? After all, these people seemed friendly enough. Slowly lifting his head back up, a smile formed on his face, “No worries, I’m pretty sure I’ll still be able to understand you.” He chuckled.

Evan took note of how nervous that Dakota seemed, and knew immediately that he wanted to help him feel more comfortable. "Gryffindor is awesome! Keep in mind, the sorting hat is never wrong" he said with a rather confident air. "You may be nervous now, but deep down there is a confident lion in there." Evan struck a rather silly confident pose, his brow stern for just a moment before laughter bubbled out of him. He couldn't stay serious for too long. "In me, is a sleepy, hungry badger and I think it's great!" his enthusiasm shone through at this.
"Baking is great, I love pastries, I know oh so much about it." he prattled on, then out of the corner of his eye he saw someone walk past. Looking up he saw another first year, he remembered seeing her at the sorting ceremony. "Hullo there!" he called out to her, waving his hand in the air. "You can come join us if you want, the lake is very relaxing over here" he motioned to the water curling against the shoreline, sun glinting on it's surface.
"We are gathering a nice little group here Dakota, it's so much fun meeting so many people!" Evan was ecstatic, nearly bouncing out of his shoes. The boy radiated positive energy."I hope we can be friends though, you are the first person I have officially met and you seem like someone I can get along with!" He plopped down onto the grass, his legs sprawled out before him, arms propping him up. "Even if you don't talk that much, but maybe one day you will get used to me running my mouth endlessly and give me a run for my money."

Exploring the grounds
After finding the dormitory and putting away her things, Tsukiko found that she had time to relax and explore before heading to her very first classes at this massive school. It was all so much; the never ending hallways, the massive classrooms, all of the new students as well as the older ones. She had found herself in quite the panic.
Rushing out of the main area, she found herself approaching the Great Lake. The water was still, but it felt magical to gaze upon. In her stupor, the sound of three different voices fill her ears. She jumps and scans the area, trying to find the bodies to match the voices.
Her eyes fall upon three people: two boys and a girl. She knew she needed to make at least one friend on her first day, but she found herself as terrified as ever. Shyness and anxiety was a terrible curse.
Tsukiko swallows her fear and began to step forward, clinging to her uniform. Her black boots padded against the grass, and she took a seat beside the group.
"Hello everyone... I a-am Tsukiko. I'm a first year, just like you three. I've been trying to keep my calm, but it just isn't happening... I hope I can make friends soon. How did the sorting go for you three?"
She nervously picked at her black fingernails, awaiting their response.

Exploring the grounds
Since both the boys invited her to join them Mary couldn't decline the offer. She sat next to Evan in the grass. Even if she loved reading, being with her peers and friend was what she preferred. She had seen Evan once or twice in their common room but never really had a chance to talk to him. Regarding Dakota, she had been next to him in the History of Magic class, and she thought of him as a really shy boy, but he seemed nice and kind.
She decided to intervene in the conversation, after all she was almost as talkative as Evan, maybe more?
"I love pastries too! Actually I think I could eat sweet food all the time. Once we went to France on holidays and they had so many good stuff."
While she was remembering that time, she saw a girl coming closer, she had the Slytherin colors. When she reached their group she sat and presented herself:
"Hello everyone... I a-am Tsukiko. I'm a first year, just like you three. I've been trying to keep my calm, but it just isn't happening... I hope I can make friends soon. How did the sorting go for you three?"
"Nice to meet you Tsukiko." She gave the girl and encouraging smile. "I'm sure you'll make friends very quickly. And regarding the sorting, I thought I would be sent to Ravenclaw, but in the end I'm more than happy to be in Huflepuff. It's definitely the house made for me."

The day though not long had been very busy, Kaiser was happy that his first day of classes at Hogwarts had been going well, at least until it came the time to eat, the whole day he had been following his classmates who seemed to know the path to the next class just fine, or at least they managed to get there without much trouble, but when lunch time came he drifted away for the bathroom and as he returned everyone had left and he was alone to find the path to the Great Hall. Until this day it had never came to his attention how bad he was with directions, it was unsettling really and the fact that the school had those turning staircases didn't help his cause, he probably took one wrong turn and found himself headed towards the herbology grounds, not wanting to go back his steps (they never were well guided anyway) he had tried to find another way around the castle but as he reached the grounds he was baffled by how beautiful it was, not to much later he found himself at the great lake and being to tired to go back and too hungry to find motivation, he decided to sat down and rest for a while.
Kaiser was sitting on the lake front when he heard someone coming, though he didn't know the boy, how could he, he was a Hufflepuff and he had yet to meet anyone outside his house, not that he met many people in there just yet. Before the other boy noticed him though he heard a second one coming and soon enough they started talking, and then a girl came along and then another "it seems everyone here is quite nice to each other" he thought. It was not his intention, but they were so close he could hear their chatting and all that talk about pastries and stuff made his stomach growl, after all he had not eaten yet and the thought of food fed, ironically, his hunger.
Knowing the loud noise would likely get their attention anyway Kaiser decided to join the group and ask if they, hopefully, had something to eat with them, it would probably make him look bad, but he was too hungry to care right now. The boy approached the girl that was talking and with a soft cough interrupted "sorry to interrupt you, but you seem to be talking about food and all and.. Well, this is embarrassing... Do you happen to have any with you?" he said in the most polite way he could but he knew he would get weird eyes from them all "the name is Kaiser by the way" he said trying to ease the gaze that would befall upon him.

Tsukiko breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the group of people were friendly. Seating herself next to the girl, she nodded along to what she said. She was right, anyways. She did seem more like a Ravenclaw, but the sorting hat had it's ways of knowing who you truly are.
She looks up at the boy who had entered their small circle, and heard him ask for food. Reaching into her messenger bag, she pulls out a small wrapped dessert; a peppermint and creme cupcake. Handing it to him, she gives him a big toothy smile and closes her eyes. She hoped she didn't seem too intimidating.
"Here, I made this before my trip here. My anxiety has made me lose my appetite, so you can have it. It's nice to meet you, Kaiser. The name is Tsukiko."
She pats the ground beside her, offering a seat to the new face.
