It seems the third time is very much the charm, figuratively and literally. As Pyxis aimed his wand at the note it diligently followed, signalling a successful casting. It would truly be a tragedy if this spell failed and they are stuck here for even longer. Luckily Pyxis did not disappoint his title as a duellist. Once he got the note if he or Costanza were to open up and look at the note the contents of it is as such:
Now that all the digits have now been found
Leaving this tavern is finally allowed
Retrace all your steps and you will see
That is where you will enter the key
Where did they find the last digit you ask? If they flipped the paper over on the other side of the note is the very digit the note was talking about, a big number "1". The final number they needed to escape right in their hands. Now if the pair were to return to the door where they started they would notice that the big, old looking brass combination lock has exactly room for four numbers to be entered. Surely nothing can go wrong from here? Freedom is so close, completely within their grasp.
