Adlai was ecstatic now that she had another friend, but this one she was unable to see on a daily basis like Leah since this friend was in a separate house and they didn’t have many classes together.
Thus for the last day or so she had racked her brain over in order to write this letter to him.
Nonetheless she sent it, and began to wait.

She took a deep breathe before giving the envelope to the owl in fear that her idea may be rejected in the since that it can be perceived as childish and she’d have to start from square one all over again.11/3/19
Dear @Virgil Lee,
I have been wanting to hang out with you outside of class for sometime but have never been able to come up with an excuse as fo why until now. Would you like to have ice cream with me at the Great Lake?
I remembered that while shopping for school I saw a lovely little ice cream parlor in Diagon Alley however, we aren’t supposed to leave the campus during the school year and I know your not much of a rule breaker.
We could perhaps ask the elves in the kitchen for the sugary treat and get some fresh air together? I’d like to know what kind of ice cream you enjoy!
Sincerely,
Adlai Winifred Rod.
Nonetheless she sent it, and began to wait.

[quote]In the middle of morning and the various owls flew across the Great Hall, as he busied himself with eating his breakfast and ignoring his fellow housemates, Virgil receives a letter from a owl. The bird stares at him with its golden eyes, as it rests the letter right on top of his plate.
The boy frowns and stares back at the owl. It’s to belong to the school because the only owl Virgil’s used to seeing in mornings like these is Hooty, his cousin’s brown owl. Unsure, he gives the bird another cautious look before taking the letter.
Virgil reads it quickly, not wanting any of the other Slytherin to be curious about his mail. He’s surprised, and a but flustered, really, to see that the letter comes from Adlai — his new friend from Hufflepuff, asking him to go get some ice cream from the kitchen with her.
He considers it, thinking of all the classes he had later today and the amount of homework he’d have to do, depending on the professors’ moods. Well, I guess I can do it later... Virge thinks, not caring much about History of Magic and Defense Against the Dark Arts, those two being his favorite subjects at the moment.
Later, in the middle of the Transfiguration class, as he’s not paying attention at all to whatever the professor is saying, Virgil takes out a piece of parchment and writes an answer to Adlai’s invitation, trying not to sound too informal, but also not to cold:
[quote]Greetings, Adlai,
I wasn’t counting on receiving a letter from you anytime soon. I’m glad you owled me.
Yes, I’d love to meet you, especially considerig what a rough day it’s been. Also, I’m very flattered that you invited me.
As I’m still in class in the moment I write this letter, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to send it, I suggest we meet around 4 p.m, tomorrow.
Tell me if you’re free or if you’d like to reschedule.

Adlai had received Virgil’s letter a few moments after she had left her current class. Anxious to know his reply she ripped the envelope open with out hesitation. She smiled broadly as she read his response and began to write him again on a small sliver of extra scratch paper, once she had gained the slightest window of time in Defense Against The Dark Arts.
She was humming and dancing down the halls with joy as she imagined what her afternoon may be like with Virgil. What they may talk about, what kind of ice cream they may eat, and where they may go in the school together to some how hide away from the other students and professors.
If she was being brutally honest Hogwarts could feel like a suffocating cage sometimes, and she was a bird that needed to spread her wings.
She was excited and couldn’t wait for the day to end. She bounced her leg all through out class, checking the clock frequently and even went through her daily prayers quicker than usual.11/3/19
