Adlai had become anxious as the fire climbed high and bright. She covered her nose with the extra fabric of her hijab so that she would not inhale the smoke that dared to enter her lungs. She squinted unsure as to why anything like this would happen.

The sound of students screams and shouts filled her ears. But one stood out from all of them. One that called her name. “Adlai!” it was Leah, Adlai’s best friend. “We need to get out of here!
“Leah, are you ok? Your nose is all red.” Adlai asked as she took a few steps back.
What do we do?

“Find the exit!” Adlai yelled before spinning about, looking for where the door should be. “It must be this way, this come on!” She beckoned to her friends before vanishing into the sea of panicked students.

Adlai didn’t understand, tonight was supposed to be fun not dangerous. Then again there’s always those one or two people who have to ruin it for everyone. Hasn’t this happened before? Adlai asked her self remembering what she had heard from the upper class man about the last dance.

Chaos, pure and utter chaos. Who’s idea was it to give children immense power? she thought. She’d surely have to leave the fire part of the letter she’d write to her parents. If she didn’t they’d most likely ask to pull her out of Hogwarts.
OOC: Sorry for the cruddy reply, I don’t exactly know what’s going on anymore

"Take your turn, take a ride
On the merry-go-round in an inhuman race
Thigh of blue
True is false
Who is who?"
Her face fell as soon as it all went down. She watched it in disappointment. These assholes didn't even know the half of the fun that they were ruining! What could have become of an eventful hazing was a bust, leaving her disappointed and bummed. But Simon's idea was even better- a work of genius.

"The Headmaster?" She spoke up, eyebrows raising. "You've got some nerve. I like it." At this point, Alexx lifted the mask up so that it sat atop her head, pushing her short, blonde hair back ever so slightly. "Maybe you're right, you don't dress nice at all and you are a bit odd. But you're cool. No lame person would ever dare to mess around with someone who could kill them with a flick of their wrist and words alone. But you... You're something else, mon cheri." She nodded as she spoke, offering him a bright smile.

"There aren't many cool people here at Hogwarts. Well, there's Reid, I guess. But that's it, really. I think you'd get along nicely with my friends." This was more of her thinking aloud, pondering to herself. Simon would probably like her friends, and even her acquaintances. But some of them... Well, she couldn't be sure that the would like him. But Simon didn't seem like the type to care. Alexx admired that about him. He was shameless.

Then, a confident smile spread across her face. "If anything, you're at least cute." With that, the blonde girl began strutting over to where the tall man resided.

Before she did so, however, she turned back and winked at Simon. Now it was time to make a scene...

But Alexx stopped in her tracks. Was that... Fire? Her eyes turned back to meet Simon. "You'll come to learn that fire is a very popular variable here at Hogwarts." She said in a nonchalant voice. "Okay, I need you to get his attention, then. I'm sad to say that I can't help with this prank much, but I need to ask... Is your paint flammable? Some are. I... I hate to ask you this, but if you see a half-giant... I need you to draw a circle around them and trap them in with fire. I don't know if that will even work, but it's a plan. If you have your wand on you... Well, I hope you know how to cast incendio. If not, call me over, I'll handle it. If you don't see anymore half-giants then... Find me. I have a backup plan. Right now..."

This was the point in which she spotted @Xailah Alptraum. She made her way over to her, eyes narrowed. She felt bad for leaving Simon, but Alexx could help protect this school. She had to. Hogwarts was her home. Regardless of what the mystery girl (Alexx didn't know her) was doing, she would draw her wand and aim it at the obvious villain. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" She spat at him, nose crinkling up.

The blonde girl would cast the smokescreen spell. "Fumos!" She shouted, wrist moving accordingly. But by this point, Alexx didn't know if she would be successful. The nearby fire began to make her eyes sting and water, so she closed them, dabbing at them with her sleeve. "Need any help?" She blindly called out to Xailah, wand still in hand.

Regardless of if the spell worked [note: leaving that up to the moderator], Alexx would blindly throw a punch. What happened next would be left up for fate to decide. Alexx didn't like fights. She really didn't. But there was a cute boy in this ballroom who was similar to a very helpless puppy. She had to do this for him.

Shaking her head as Serena apologized, Lark gave a smile. "Nah, no worries." She just wasn't sure boy talk was going to make any of the three feel better about tonight. As it was they didn't seem like the only ones that were dealing with some sort of tension.

Lark's eyes caught sight of a handful of students.. fighting? Was that a punch? A feeling of unease crept its way into the silver haired girl's back and settled along her spine. Trying her best not to be rude and listen to Serena's response about her family... Lark's attention was still being drawn around the room with a couple different arguments breaking out. She had been warned this was typical of Hogwart's events. Still...

"...I'm not sure what the word is, but my parents weren't Wizards either."

Returning her gaze to the Hufflepuff, Lark gave a nod. "Ah ya! Muggles, ye mean? Interesting.. I hardly know much about Muggles or that sorta lifestyle." The inflection in her voice pitched as she made mental notes to pick at Serena's brain later to learn more about Muggle culture.

More crashing over by the students having a tussle. Although by now they all seemed to have broken up.. some even looking as if they were leaving. "It's funny how different our worlds are y'know? You probably think all this is pretty fantastic but... I'm sure your Muggle life has all sorts of wonderful things that may seem everyday." Lark said curiously trying to imagine what Serena's parents worked as.. possibly what their home looked like. How they got along without any magic, what a vastly different life the girl must have lived before now.

"What about you Elz-" Lark's question was cut off as a loud noise rumbled through the room, the band cutting short along with it. Her eyes shot to their headmaster as a spell flew from his wand. Lark's mind raced. What was happening? Instinctively her hand shot along her right side and felt for the slit that was sewn into the dress allowing access to a pocket her mother used to keep her wand as well. The Professors would take care of whatever was happening right? She wouldn't need it. Still, she felt frozen in time as the spell seemed to do nothing to the huge... student? was he a student? Who the--

Flames lit up the floor.

Lark whirled to her two friends. "You guys have to get out of here!" They had to leave before the fire spread, already it seemed to be making its way along the room and snaking along the spots the other stranger had thrown some sort of liquid. Tossing some of the punch cups at some spots of fire hoping to douse at least a bit of fire that was creeping towards the exit. Panic was only going to make things worse but she still felt scared for her friends and helpless not knowing any spells to help with the fire.

Fire... Flames...
Dale.

Whirling around, Lark looked back to the dance floor for Dale. Where was he!? He had been with Maggie but who knew what had happened while she was over here... She yelled at herself silently, she shouldn't have left him. "Dale!!" Lark yelled hoping she could catch sight of him. Lark turned to Serena a worried expression plastered across her face. "I have ta find Dale, I can't leave. You two should go!" Lark heard another yell and turned to see a student dressed in black fling herself at the tall figure who was gripping onto a young boy. More students seemed to be jumping in to help.. Lark felt another wave of guilt wash over her for only being a mere first year... what could she do?

"Be careful!" Lark squeezed Serena's shoulder tightly and gave her a nod. "Get Elz out an' grab anyone else you can ya? I have ta get Dale." Tossing off her mask and high heels, Lark grabbed some of the punch cups and doused her own dress with them to hopefully protect from any of the heat melting it to her skin or worse, erupting into flames. She could explain to her mother later...

Leaving Serena and Elzabeth, Lark squeezed by a handful of students rushing by and yelled once more into the smoke and chaos. "Dale! DALE!"

If her Pureblood friends (@Phaedra Stavrou, @Max Avery) replied, the blonde didn’t hear it. Suddenly, the ballroom was in such a chaos that she couldn’t ignore. Screams filled the room, the smell of smoke before she realized there was a fire. Again?! Why couldn’t there be a normal ball for once? And now Giants too?!

She scanned the room for @Reid Kovacs and @Serena Towers, two friends that she felt already had enough trauma involving fires. It was impossible to find anyone specific but her eyes happened to land on @Ruthie Greer who was struggling with a giant. Where was @Jorah Moussa? Didn’t they plan on going to the ball together?

If he was there, Dymphna didn’t see him. Leaving Max and Phae to look after one another, she headed towards her Quidditch teammate. Her wand was at the ready, along with many other students as she bumped her way through the masses. The giant shifted and she saw Jorah was there afterall.

Pointing her wand towards the Giants large body, hoping not to hit anyone else this time around, she shouted, “Orchideous!” If her spell worked, the Giant would turn into a large shrub. The fire could take care of the rest, not to mention the Professors. Is this why Headmaster Lear wore armor?

Through the smoke, Adlai emerged and Leah sighed relief. In answer to her friend, she said:

"Oh, someone punched me, actually. I'm really not sure why, I think she mistook me for Jack's girlfriend. Do you know him? He's in our house, in our year."

She'd been talking for too long, clearly, because Adlai was already answering and finding an exit. Leah followed, plunging into the panicked crowds and wishing she could do more to help. People ran past, some costumes familiar and others almost frightening in the context.

Suddenly, she found her foot slipping and saw a liquid on the floor before it was engulfed in flames. Hadn't someone mentioned putting out the flames with punch last time? She couldn't remember in all this chaos. Either way, whatever was on the floor wasn't helping.

"Shouldn't we try to put out the flames?" she yelled over the commotion.

It had been loud earlier too, but that had been due to music, not screams. Why had this night turned out to be so disastrous? She'd just wanted to have fun, and she'd already been punched, witnessed a fight, and tried to escape a fire.

Her siblings definitely hadn't mentioned this part of the school, that was for sure.

Suddenly, things happened really fast. Amidst the crowd, two giants rose up. One of them started to attack one of the students. The second one slammed the door shut, blocking the only way out.

He was huge. Just abit taller than Hugh. Nico had never seen someone as big as that. Her Scott friend had always been one of the tallest guys she knew. They were loud.. and mean. Who were these guys? Why were they here? Why were they attacking students? Where did the other Professors go?

Slightly shaking, Nico quickly hid slightly behind Hugh again. 'W-Who are these... people.. They kinda.. look like you.' She turned her head, to look over her shoulder. The giant at the middle of the Ballroom tried over and over to fetch the student who seemed to be ready for a beating with his DIY bat.

Unnerved, Nico held onto the back of Hugh's sweater. Fearing if she didn't, she'd lose him midst battle. He was a reassurance to her. The only one here to probably protect her if anything went wrong. 'H-Hugh, what.. do we do now?' She didn't want to be there. She just wanted to calm down. Nico started to cry softly, pressing her forhead in the back of her friendly Half-Giant. Why did these Balls always turn out this way... 'H-Hugh... I'm scared.'

Griseldis remembered clearly when she was doing the chokehold to the ginger boy, she heard how the girl with the black fox mask shouted and she immediately could identify the voice to be her new Slytherin friend San. And hearing her shouting out the name Kyle, made her realized that the boy who punched the ginger was their Quidditch Captain. She sighed to the thought, Kyle loved to fight with a burning passion no matter what kind of circumstances.

She assumed that the girl would help the tall ginger to either leave the ballroom or go to the buffet to eat some food. She turned around and could no longer find San and the captain anymore. Well, she was still wearing a mask and a stranger to her, so she might leave with Kyle in a hurry or tried to cool Kyle's heated head and dragged him outside. Then Alan finally came up to her, he must have seen everything. "Hey, Alan...sorry for leaving you for a while cause I needed to stop the fight." Griseldis apologized, but Alan didn't seem to mind at all and offered his arm for her to grab. Right, she promised him to have a dance at least.

Griseldis smiled and just when she was about to reach her hand to hold on to his arm. All of a sudden, she heard screams from behind. She quickly looked back and saw the chaos happened in front of them. Two adult giants appeared out of nowhere, one attempted to grab a fellow student and the other one blocked the entrance door to trap them in here. To her horror, the giant took out a lighter and with the snap with its thumb, the giant throw it to the floor lit aflame, a boy wasn't lucky enough and his outfit also caught the flame.

Is this really happening?

"How did the giants get in here!? And where are the Professors, the Head of Houses and the Headmaster!?!?", Griseldis shouted in disbelief, looking around seeing students and the guests from America running, screaming in panic. In this kind of situation, the Professors should be the ones to protect the students and get rid of the threats that invaded Hogwarts but she only saw two Professors being present in the ballroom. But there was no time to complain, she saw two kids who weren't as scared as the others. The boy was brave enough to smash an object at the giant, while the blond girl attempted to cast a Dancing Feet Spell at the huge target.

"Alan! We can save our dance for later, let's go help the others!" There was no time to waste! She then heard a girl yelling about putting out the fire. Griseldis and her friend Alan who she trust would follow her, she took out her wand and gave the girl a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, I'll use the Extinguishing Charm to put out the fire." She pointed her wand at the boy who was suffering from being on fire, with the correct hand movement she shouted the incarnation out, "Extinguo!"

After arriving late, and not really knowing what to do on these events, River had found herself a nice little calm spot next to the walls of the prettied up room. She had a nice view over a lot of the people attending, and she could not help but cringe at a few of the students as they went on their dates and what not.
She had been expecting some action, usually on these things, a couple fights and disagreement would always break out, and as soon as she was loosing hope to see something interesting, a conflict broke out between a group of students. This evening did not turn out to be any different from the previous events of the school. There were some broken bones, and some bloodied clothes by the first hours, and that was not a surprise at all. At least no fire has broken out, the redhead thought, as she remembered the blossom fest.

She observed the people around her for a bit, attempting to block out that lingering smell of blood waving around after some incidents had gone down. Suddenly, the music stopped. Something had happened, and her attention was caught by a ruckus not too far away. Things happened quickly, and all she could notice was a towering figure standing in front of the door, and a few students getting up in their face.
A flash of fire hit River’s eyes, and she leapt back, shielding her face out of instinct, as the floor, and even a couple students had caught fire. She tried getting a close look at what was going on up front, but all the people made it easier said than done.
RPing as dNPC Evanore Fairclay
After entering the beautifully decorated room where the masquerade was taking place, Evanore had taken her path right to the food. And she had found a nice place to sit down while happily chewing on some treats and drinking her punch, as she also enjoyed the music and all the pleasant views of others having fun. She put the last bit of food in her mouth as she noticed some students causing a fuss. She got up from her seat, in case someone decided to fight their way in her direction.
Of course the young teen wanted to help out, but she decided it would absolutely not be the smart action in this case. Let the professors take care of it, she thought. Some mote noise came from another part of the room. It was not so easy to notice though, as the music was playing, and people were talking and dancing and having a good time. All until the music decided to stop abruptly. Evanore’s head turned to the band, wondering what had caused the need to stop playing, then. It took only a couple milliseconds before she noticed that it was not the band who was having issues, but a student, and apparently some very large people. Giants!? She wondered, thinking that would be the best explanation for their size. And she had heard that they let both Dhampirs, Half-giants and werewolves in to Hogwarts.

The young girl turned to someone close by, wanting to ask them if they had seen what went down, but before she had managed to reach them, something made a click, and as she looked back to the floor, it was on fire. Students were screaming and jumping back, and there was someone shielding the door. What even is this school? She though, as her mind began to panic slightly, unlike her usual ability to stay extremely calm in most circumstances.

It should've been a good time. Max could've ignored the fights, the romantic drama, the prickly relationship between himself and Rosie, if only they could've continued conversing despite the momentary awkwardness of Dymphna insinuating him and Phae as dates. He'd wanted to get in at least one good dance before the obvious happened, however clearly that wasn't going to happen as the music came to a screeching halt and suddenly the ball was a sea of fire.

Everything erupted into chaos, students screaming and running or attempting to attack the massive people he'd originally assumed were new half-giant students. Dymphna took off to help her friends and Max considered the same - he knew most, if not all, of his friends were scattered throughout the room - before logic got the better of him and he turned to Phaedra. All trace of the unsure boy he'd once been was gone as withdrew his wand, shoving down the panic, horror, and nausea that threatened to consume him at the new scene. Burn the witches, burn the witches. It was like he could hear the chant under the screams, and it wiped away all trace of emotion but one.

"We have to stop the fire," he yelled to Phaedra over the chaos, trusting that she'd be able to handle herself in a situation like this. One of the Gryffindor prefects had already begun, and Max's eyes ran over the room as he attempted to come up with a suitable plan. Lips curling into a snarl, he drew his foot back and kicked one of the food tables with all of the force he could, sending food and drink scattering as it tipped over onto its side. Punch puddled and spread across the floor as he grabbed the table to spin it so the top was facing the chaos. Crouching behind it in case any wayward spells or students were thrown their way, he peeked his head up for only a moment to throw an "Extinguo!" at the floor.

Once they got the fire under control, it would leave no cover for any of the villains left. With a heat almost as intense as the ballroom inferno, fury ate away at Max until it was all he could think about. He would find out who was behind this attack on his peers and friends, and he would make them pay for the school's ruination. For ruining the fun he had planned for Phaedra, for making everyone panic, for scaring up new scars in kids who hadn't gotten over the old ones... If he ever got hold of the person behind this, the punishments that flashed through his mind for them scared even himself.
ACTION: Flip the table to hide behind it and cast Extinguo

Hugh's head turned quickly towards the chaos that had erupted behind him. Fire and giants were wrecking the scene in a matter of seconds. The Ravenclaw beater was being attacked by one of Hugh's kin and who knew how Hess was faring in those temperatures. The beater's girlfriend quickly came to his aid and he noticed others closing in on Hess and the fire. As he looked over to the door he was just in time to see Catwoman try and dig her nails into the giant after an tricky jump.

Nico had nestled herself further behind him and he could feel her hands clenching into his sweater. One eyebrow arched up as he looked down to his red-haired friend. If she would have gotten any paler than she already was, she would have become transparent he believed. Instinctively, Hugh shielded Nico from the bright flickering of the flames with his large hand. "Don't be afraid Nico. You're fast, and I am strong. Lets get you out of here." He very briefly smiled down to the hidden girl and winked in reassurance.

"Looks like most of these nutjobs have already began attacking these giants. Door's free to break through again." he sighed heavily as his eyes scanned the room further. Four professors and a bunch of overconfident minors ready for war. "I'll get the door. C'mon!"

With heavy footsteps, Hugh began to run towards the door. Readying his shoulder up front, storming past the occupied giant and the catgirl, and at the last second shifting his weight forward as he slammed into the Ballroom doors. Hugh Smash!
