Sibling Bond — Part 1
Professor Akeem knelt beside a canvas bag full of seedlings with his own hands already covered in dirt from the work. The air felt a bit heavy with a scent of loam and new growth while adorning the respite from the spores that had once beset the area just months before he even came to Hogwarts. Akeem surveyed the Campgrounds as his brows furrowed in thought while looking out over the clumpy grasses and sun drenched glades, the spots that were once trampled by inquisitive students are in need now of much restoration.
He took a hold of a tray of thin wildflower stalks—some native and others coaxed to flower and a sprinkling of ferns and trailing mosses flowed over the edge. "You lot will like it here," Akeem said, half to the plants and half to himself. "There is lots of sunlight, handy water and maybe I will bring hippogriff poop to keep things lively."
He worked slowly, occasionally pausing to push a sprout into the ground while muttering a soft hum, assisting the sprout to take root. He patted the ground around the base of a seedling and spoke to no one in general, "This land remembers, it recalls fear and fire. We'll give it something else to cling to." Though his movements were steady and quiet, there was a kind of reverence to how Akeem worked—a feeling that the healing of land was not a small thing.@Sarai Toussaint-Fleischer

Focused, unmoving, a hunter waiting for the opportunity for a surprise attack. A hawk was perched on the branch of a nearby tree, eyes scanning around before its gaze falling upon the man below with a bag of seeds beside him. The man was its target. It repositioned itself, adjusting the angle before leaning forward. After a few seconds, it took off, letting out a screech as if announcing its presence before it landed just above the bag, head turning to look up to the man just next to it with little to no fear in its brown, human looking eyes.
It didn't mind having a human beside it for it was no ordinary red-tailed hawk. It's not because of its slightly larger size than that of a normal one nor its darker shade of brown and red. No, it was because this hawk is a human, a wizard, an Animagus and this person next to him, the one it's currently staring at was its brother, someone that he hadn't seen for quite a while thanks to their paths diverging a long time ago. Another screech and then a chirp before it flew once more into the air, hovering above for a few seconds before diving back down, coming into a slow descent just before hitting the ground.
Where it landed now stood a man donning a red and black robe that was a part of a family tradition of his wife that he had adopted into his life. A symbol of pride aside from the family crest that was given to him as part of the union between two families. “Brother.” Oziel Toussaint greeted. Former Auror, now the Groundskeeper, a job he never expected to get nor apply for but he has his reasons, family reasons. If it weren't for that, he would be taking cases and fighting dark-wizards but he has his own priorities. If anything like the incident that happened in Hogsmeade happens again, at least he would be able to respond quickly. “Lovely day.” Not exactly the best greeting but when you haven't seen each other for quite some time, it can make things a bit awkward, even if they were living under one roof for the time being. Still, the man kept a smile, no, that cheeky grin that he usually showed when they were younger whenever he was up to no good or just there to bother his brother. It was more so for a sense of familiarity, to repair a bond that had worn down through years of absence.

TW : PTSD/Pyre flashback
An air of gratitude hovered over the numinous woman upon overseeing the populace of Hogwarts come together after her and the Deputy Headmistress' efforts to revive the flora following the harsh winter of Scotland. It was an endearing sight, observing her beloved students being instilled with respect for nature and restoration, and it refilled her sense of purpose after she took on the position of a Herbology Professor in the first place.
A position that took her so far away from home, away from her parents, even further away from her sons, and had left her scarred both mentally and physically. When faced with solitude, even despite the throngs of students bustling tediously around her, it wasn't hard for Sarai to succumb to relive those fiery flashbacks of October when her life hung in the balance. Shear luck and the bravery of her sons and serpentine familiar, locating the witch's mangled body, would be how she was rescued from the inferno in the first place. And despite all the broken bones in her body from that night, the only evidence of the magic explosion was the tiny white freckles of hypopigmentation across her face, neck, and chest that marred her skin.
But it wasn't the scars on her skin that disturbed and triggered her so─it was the scent of the burning flesh that somehow lingered in her nose after all this time, the tightness of her skin from the blood that caked from her wounds, and the visual of dead bodies of both faculty and students scattered about the gentle hills of Hogsmeade. In the blink of an eye, the Haitian woman was back in time, in October, under a fiery sky of suffocating smoke and floating embers with the air ripped from her lungs; then with another blink, the nightmarish memory was all over.
A frightened and exasperated sigh slipped from her lips, tears had begun to spill from her eyelids, and bile rose in her throat. Her serpentine familiar, Badriyah-Abuk, would coil herself around the underside of Sarai's baby bump, alleviating the pressure on her bladder but shifted loose when the woman rushed towards a bush to upchuck the contents of her breakfast. Her fingers gently clasped the coiled body of the brown and white Puerto Rican Boa for comfort, gasping for air and wiping the tears and cold sweat that clung to her face.
As Sarai steadied herself against one of the cabins, her gunmetal blue gaze narrowed as they followed the back of her eldest brother, Akeem. He had been among the newest hires of Hogwarts, hauling a canvas bag full of seeds, likely a response to her request for aid. There was contempt simmering despite his goodhearted gesture. A deep-seated hatred after all these years from Akeem abandoning her, their siblings, their family, their homeland without a word. Even when Sarai had sent letter after letter pleading for his brotherly support after discovering being pregnant for the first time, there was neither head nor tail of Akeem.
Yet, here the man was as if nothing ever happened, and it made her yearn for blood.
Her strides closed the distance where Akeem kneeled beside the canvas bags with their little brother, Oziel. Sarai flashed her little brother an apologetic look for what was to come, but no more could the Toussaint woman remain silent.
"You can go, Akeem," Sarai spat in a tone that dripped with venom, "I don't need your help. Not that you ever cared to help before. You should probably stick to your skillsets and leave since that's what you're good at anyway."

I always knew the wind would blow you back to me one day.
Sibling Bond — Part 1
Akeem did not flinch—not outwardly at least—but the words struck like hexes. He remained crouched by the canvas bag and one hand them moved to bury itself in the pale sunflower and the other rested flat on his thing. His skin beneath his fingertips was tingling with a sting of memory and regret, yet slowly he stood like a man returning to the mortal shape stone. There was a sudden gentle breeze of suspense and his clothing shifted elegantly. The navy and earth tones sewn with subtle gold thread and he remembered one of the many people he met along his career life, they used to call it the, "wandering robes". Unlike his usual style, they were not gaudy enough to attract attention but they held such high symbolism and the insignia stitched inside the collar was faded now—nearly worn away by the years spent in distant places few dared travel. But here he was, again rooted at the edge where he belongs.
He greeted his brother, Oziel and followed to enter the scenery was his sister who did not see so happy to meet him. His eyes met with Her's and those dark oceanic oculars mirrored their childhood. But now? those eyes carried lighting... a justifiable lightning.
Akeem let out a sigh that was long and quiet, he dared not to raise his voice, and he dared not to step any closer. Instead, he spoke with such serenity that made flames burn lower rather than disappear. "I came because I was asked..." he said in a voice deep and soothing, "not to be forgiven, welcomed. I came here because Hogwarts is now your home, and I heard what had happened, and if anything happens to you and— " he cut himself from going any further to not upset his sister who is burdened by hormones, "Mwen pa t la lè mwen te ka la"
He broke off and the bag of seeds were forgotten at his feet, "M pa rete lwen paske m sispann enterese, m rete lwen paske se chwa karyè, e ou konnen kijan sa enpòtan pou mwen" his jaw tightened as he shook his head. He looked at Oziel. His young brother had always been the thread that kept them from unraveling completely and once Akeem nodded then turned back to the path on the campgrounds, he made no move to leave unless it was demanded, and Oziel does not step in.
Translation
- "Mwen pa t la lè mwen te ka la." = "I was not here when I could have been."
- "M pa rete lwen paske m sispann enterese, m rete lwen paske se chwa karyè, e ou konnen kijan sa enpòtan pou mwen." = "I did not stay away because I stopped caring, I stayed away because of career choices, and you know how important that is to me,"

Tension between siblings, especially with his older brother and sister was not Oziel wasn’t expecting. It was a given the moment he knew Akeem was gonna start teaching in Hogwarts. Perhaps, that was one factor that made him take his current role in the said institution, to be there for both and to act a mediator and possibly, to help fix the bond that had been lost between them. It’s not an easy task for he, too, understood their sister’s frustration. A brother, a family, that’s what they needed during those hard times, especially when the unfortunate incident happened in Hogsmeade last year. During those times… he was nowhere to be found. His presence, gone. He would be lying if he said he wasn't pissed off because he was. There were times that he wanted to just knock the air out of his older brother. But that would solve anything now, would it?
After hearing their brother's reason for not getting into contact with them for almost all of the time ever since he left, it was disappointing but such is the man named Akeem. He had always been career oriented. A part of him respects that for that is what his goal is, where he finds join but also a part of him hates him for choosing it over their family. Those remained unvoiced, however, not the time for it as they already have enough discord going on. Putting more fuel to the flame wasn't the smartest decision. “Now now, let's not be too hasty.” He spoke, mustering the energy to remain positive as he reached out for Akeem, giving him a smack on the back. If he was too strong with that, he didn't mean to. He had trouble controlling his own strength at times. “It has been a while since we saw each other.”
He looked over their sister, still with a smile on his face. It was all he could do to lower the rising tension and after being not together for so many years, won't it be a waste to let this moment go? “We might as well try to catch up with what we missed from each other.” Somehow, he regretted saying that but what else can he say?
