The Masquerade Ball

Sophie quietly stepped into the ballroom, making sure that nobody was staring at her as she walked. She was wearing a flowing pale pink dress that was decorated with small, also pink, fabric flowers as well as a matching flowery pink mask that made her grey eyes look bright in colour. Sophie’s hair was curled and tied back in a half ponytail with small strands of blonde hair in the front framing her face delicately.
The young girl had been to quite a few balls in the past, all of which had been thrown by her parents, but she’d never had friends or even people close in age to her at them. Or, well, potential friends. Sophie had never been the best at making friends likely due to her quiet nature and Hogwarts was unfortunately not an acceptation to this. In Sophie’s opinion at least her lack of proper friends did not matter though, she had perfect grades in each subject so what was the need of friends? They would only distract her from her studies after all. The blonde girl stayed in the back of the large room twirling her newly curled hair around her finger, wishing she was back in the library and unsure of why she had even decided to come.

The Masquerade Ball

Interactions | @Jürgen Hess, @Oliver Hart
The ball was a place of hope, dreams, romance, laughter... For everyone except the one incredibly unfortunate Hufflepuff, it would seem.
One moment, she was sipping on delicious drinks and hiding from the rest of the world. The next, some incredibly heavy mass seemed to have catapulted over onto her; with the mass being a particularly large-sized Ravenclaw student that some would have recognised as Oliver Hart. Of course, this wasn't something that Dinara would've been conscious long enough to witness for herself. All she could remember was a very badly pronounced spell (by her own snooty standards, of course) and something incredibly heavy and oddly damp squishing butt-first into her favourite pyjamas shirt; though for her own benefit it would've been best to not have acknowledged that it was, in fact, another student who had planted his rather icky bottoms onto her tiny body.
Anyone who'd witnessed the scene would likely have been quite amused to see a boar-looking student's buttocks almost completely enveloping the tiny frame that was Dinara Lucey. It's rather unfortunate, really, that Hogwarts' festivities never seemed to end well. If the Hufflepuff hadn't been completely suffocated by the buttocks, she could perhaps have maintained consciousness long enough to witness an incredibly worried Jürgen Hess staring over her. Whether he was worried about the girl, Dinara, or himself, at having lost a potential 'hot date' for the night; one would never know.
In her haze, flashes of traumatic memories that had been suppressed from the previous Blossomball flooded her mind. If anyone could see Dinara's face beneath Oliver's (hopefully not smelly) bottoms, they'd see that her face had contorted into various expressions of varying discomfort. One might very logically assume that it's from the sheer pain of being smashed down into the hard marble of the Ballroom floor by a weight quite likely twice of her own, but another who had been through the same traumatic experience as she would've understood how terrifying it was to have had to go through such a horror in their first year at Hogwarts.
Still, her lids slowly fluttered opened, met with nothing but the damp darkness of Oliver's bottoms and the slight wetness from her cheeks. It was curious, really, that the girl only ever seemed to relive those traumatic memories in a state of unconsciousness, she could hardly recall the reason for the seemingly random tears that slid down her face.
It was also then that she felt a slight... tugging, by a pair of unfamiliar hands. Helpful, or at least the mystery person was trying their best to be so. In the end, it was more of an angry kick from Dinara that propelled her tiny body out; sort of like some grotesque, oddly misformed childbirth from a 12-year-old overweight boy.
Still feeling rather faint from all the mishaps that seemed to befall the poor youngster, she stumbled to her feet, pressing down onto her suitor's shoulder (Jürgen Hess) as a makeshift crutch. Dinara's body weight may have been nothing compared to Oliver's, but should she have been larger sized than the boy, it would have exerted quite a considerable amount of pressure as well.
"Thanks for trying to help. I'm, like totally fi-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Dinara stumbled and flopped right back onto Oliver. The damage done to him would be absolutely nothing as compared to the aching back and the odd limp that she had suffered, but having someone fall right onto you would be sure to cause some pain at the very least.
Alternatively, the girl could've just bounced off rather harmlessly and fallen to the Ballroom floor, sprawled out oddly like a puppet who'd lost it's puppeteer.

This was why Erin thought @Quinn Healy ate people...
"Hey asshole! Let 'er go!"
Erin dumbfounded. Who was the her?
Instinct dictated her next move as she kicked him in a somehow unplanned yet semi-synchronous manner. Erin's attack was far from graceful, she was using the part-giant's grip to stabilize her attack. When he relinquished his hold on her, the painful rush of bloodflow back to her hand throbbed but more importantly than that she face-planted upon completion of her attack.
It was not the tight grip on her hand that both hurt and made her fingertips feel numb or that dangerous glint in his eyes that seemed to scream you better damn well listen. It would have been kinda hot if he had not eaten her friend. Out of nowhere a fist whizzed past her, almost grazing but never actually touching her face along with a defiant battle cry.
"Hey asshole! Let 'er go!"
Erin dumbfounded. Who was the her?
Oh wait I'm the her!
Somehow still pretty and pathetic at the same time, Kyle squared off with the part-giant. "The fuu--?" One could guess the rest of the word she was going to utter, not that she stopped for the sake of sensibilities. She knew him, the protector of the monster @Hugh Lowe, devourer or assistant devourer of Hogwarts students. What was he doing fighting Quinn?
Little good DeRook's punch and her kick did, it just made him mad. Nobody likes Quinn when he is mad. There was this oh crap moment in her head as she got to her feet. The heels she wore like tiny, angry stilts. The part giant's berserker rage was focused on @Kyle DeRook.
He told Erin to get away. Had he changed sides? Chose to side with her against the giant threat? There was no reason for him to assist her, Quinn had her dead to rights starting a fight and he was significantly stronger than her. Stronger than she was prepared for. "Get away from him, he is gonna eat you!"
Before Quinn could cave the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain's face in, another Prefect jumped up behind the big guys and got him into a choke hold. How she got that sort of basketball player jump height was beyond her. She would wrap her arms around the Hufflepuff's throat and tighten her hold. She recognized that one too, the girl that had gotten in her way when she tried to extract the truth about Death Witches from @Kaegen Deathmote. He escaped because of her.
Why was she fighting Quinn? Did she have a problem with the part giants? She had no problem helping the midget giant. OR prevent her from learning the truth about the part giants. Was she? Were THEY... Death witches? The death with @Reid Kovacs was allied with Healy, perhaps there was a division in their ranks. Not every death witch was bad like Kaegen asserted. Was Kaegen an enemy. The enemy? Who was he fighting again? People were not relevant to her until they became useful. The bitchiness of the girl he was in combat with seemed familiar.
Quinn was dumbfounded but tamed, Kyle did his victory lap and the girl he was with @Santario Martin demanded a cessation of combat. Parce's (@Jack Warren's) date also vocalized the desire for a peaceful resolution. Things were calming down, some what at the very least. Erin raised her hands to either side, palms towards them in a posture of silent surrender with a cheeky grin. "Oh kay... like stopping," she announced a bit too chipper. She looked over at Jack and frowned, "I cannot believe you cheated on me and took... took... whoever that is. S-she's so normal!" The inflection made that statement sound like an insult, and it was. "But I'm done," she sighed. "I need someone to look at my hand," she did "so I am going to the medical wing" she lied. "I -- can take Sampson here too." She had no intention of taking him anywhere good or helpful. A part of her wanted to be stopped even, she did not want to leave her man with whoeverthatis but this might be her only chance with a tired Quinn.

The excitement that Rosie felt from Phaedra waving back was quickly diminished once she saw Quinn on the ground.
She had told herself to not get involved, it wasn't her problem. Quinn was a strong dude, she thought he would just handle it and come back, it wouldn't turn into a big thing, but everything fell out of control. The next thing she saw, some random Gryffindor had thrown himself onto Quinn and someone else was choking him. Rosie felt her jaw tighten as Quinn finally fell to the floor crying. That was it. Quinn wasn't just her date, he was her friend.
Rosie put down her drink and hiked up her dress slightly, walking over. "Sorry! Excuse me," she pushed through people, going to find Quinn. She knelt down beside him, while the other girl focused on Kyle and the girl who had been choking Quinn. As mean as it sounded, Rosie couldn't have cared less about them right now. All she knew was that Quinn was on the ground crying, and apparently still being choked. Assuming Gris eventually let go, she gently tilted his face up, frowning. "Hey, Quinn, you okay? I got you." She mumbled, moving some hair out of his eyes. "Can you take some deep breaths? I got you, nothing else is gonna happen, I promise." Rosie was almost panicking. Especially after what happened with Erin, she shouldn't have been getting involved with things like this, but she couldn't just stand by.
If Quinn let her, and if the girl, whoever she was, wanted to let go of him, Rosie helped him stand up, occasionally checking over her shoulder to make sure nobody else was going to jump the poor man. She turned to him, holding his hand. "Are you okay? Do you wanna leave? We can go take a walk, come back later?" She spoke quietly, not trying to overwhelm with him. Rosie just didn't want to leave him unless he asked. But she was more nervous that someone, especially Erin Ryan's dramatic ass, would throw another punch at the now emotional giant.

LAMIK'S PERSPECTIVE
----------------------------
Interacting with: @Aideen Ryan
Even though it took him a few moments Lamik eventually realized that Aideen was asking for a window. After looking around a bit and realizing that the ball room, in all its glory, had exactly zero balconies or normal windows, he sighed and put a hand on Aideens arm. "Let's go over to the edge of the roomand just sit down for a bit. Then you can rest. Ok?" As confused as Lamik was at what had just happened, he knew that it would be better to ask questions after she calmed down. Smiling reassuringly, the boy tried leading Aideen towards the edge of the room.

NOVUS'S PERSPECTIVE
----------------------------------
Interacting with: @Astrea Soleil Neptune
Mentioning: @Maya Galim @Solomon Lear
Novus couldn't have expected what happened next, nor could he begin to describe the dissapointment that he felt afterwards. The headmaster of Hogwarts, the Solomon Lear, the man who had supposedly fought for non-humans and half bloods in hogwarts, approached. Novus's hopes that he would be able to ask his questions to the Headmaster himself were quickly and painfully crushed though. Solomon had suggested that him and one of his professors dance. He wanted to show the rest how pure bloods danced. Even though on its own that wouldn't have been a bad thing, the tone in Lear's voice made it seem like the man looked down on muggles and muggle borns, and in those few moments Novus began to doubt if Hogwarts really was as inclusive as he had hoped. Sure, he heard the offer that one of them had made about coming to their classroom later, but if the HEADMASTER thought pure bloods were superior, why wouldn't the professors?
Before the professor of muggle studdies bad even turned her attention away, Novus turned around and walked away. He was miserable. Though it may not have seemed like such a big deal to anyone else, for the boy visiting Hogwarts was more then a chance to learn about the British wizarding culture. It was a chance to fit in for once.
Novus was sure that he could still enjoy the night though. Things couldn't get any worse, right? Sure, there seemed to be a fight or two going on, and the music was absolutely terrible, but something good could still come out of it all. Deciding that the best place to start was finding someone to talk to, Novus looked around. To his delight he noticed someone. A pretty girl stood by the refreshments table alone, wearing an extremely elegant outfit and mask that no other student in the ball seemed to feel like matching. Either that or they COULDN'T match the elagence, as the clothing must have cost a fortune. Based on the look on her face, Novus reasoned that she wasn't very happy either. Maybe she also wanted someone to talk to. Without much more though, the boy approached her, his hands in the pockets of his suits pants. "Hi." He said with a small nod.

[/font]If Griseldis did let go of him he would gasp for air reaching to soothingly rub his throat. "T...Thank you..." He rasped out not looking in her direction, anger easily prevalent in his voice. The slumped Half-Giant felt like a mess. Anger still welling from deep within, but his sane mind managed to hold it back as he felt dangerous beckons of her calling him back to the pleasant darkness. Tears would not stop themselves from streaming down his face, all those emotions he kept neigh-constantly locked deep away were gushing out of the destroyed flood gates. Quinn barely had time to react when he saw the person he must have punched leap back up and attempt to attack him. He felt the gentle hands wrap around his head as he was about to give again. Only to be thoroughly interrupted by someone tackling them to the ground followed by a painful scream.
His eyes widened and he looked to where the two landed to recognize the person as Santario Martin. Oh dear god was she okay! That didn't sound good, that didn't look good, why had things turned out so horribly!? Almost immediately the anger within him was soon being taken over by a torrential down poor of panic. The voices in his mind being drowned out by his own panicked, and anxious thoughts. "S-San...Gods...I caused this..." He softly spoke though the words were choked, chalked full of many emotions that shouldn't mix.
His mind and attention fully focused on the pain of Santario someone he now considered a friend. He wanted to move but he couldn't his breathing was growing progressively erratic as he began to hyper ventilate and his mind went on full melt down. His body visibly began to shake his mind continuing to fixate on Santario and the boy he had punched but mainly Santario. Quinn didn't even realize that Erin was still there when he barely heard her words only hearing a few things. What caught his notice was the sudden chipper tone in her voice.
It was enough to momentarily lift him partially out of his panic attack. Which was all his anger needed to flare up again as he suddenly clenched his fists again. But that was all he could do through his erratic breathing barely able to send her a very poor snarl. Oh how tired he felt, the pain still coming back in waves. He felt that he couldn't really put much of a fight as he heard her last words. No doubt nothing good would happen if he went with her. So gathering up his strength he spoke to her again mostly anger in his voice. "D-Don't...touch me....I don't need your help." The threat was empty but it was clear that her presence around him did not help with his current state. There was both fear and anger in the way he appeared around her. But being as tired as he felt he just could not express it along with the guilt he felt about the entire situation. He brought up one hand to wipe away the tears that still would not stop.
It was around that time that Rosie came moving some of the hair out of his eyes. He didn't want to listen to her Quinn wanted to desperately hold on to the flood of negative emotions. However Quinn also just wanted to sleep, wanted the crappy situation to resolve. He closed his eyes taking in some very deep breathes. It hurt because of his throat and the kick to his chest. Managing through it he focused on Rosie's voice and allowed himself to truly calm down. The panic was slowly dying down along with the gentle fingers seemingly wrapped around his own mind. Even the anger was slowly receding.
Eventually after maybe an entire minute, Quinn would allow her to help him up. His tear filled eyes glowering at Erin. "Sorry about...your hand....Rosie can take me." There was venom in his voice as he spoke to her gripping Rosie's hand almost too tightly but luckily not tight enough to break anything. Grimacing the redhead leaned down and whispered to Rosie, "I hope ye can forgive me for ruining yer night. Can we leave for a bit...I think..." He sniffled. "...I think I've caused enough pain for one night." He apologized to still visibly upset feeling emotionally drained as a whole. Throwing one last glance to Santario and finally apologetically to Griseldis who was forced to step in turning around doing his best not to pull Rosie.
To fear the unknown is to fear progress, don't shy away from it. Embrace it and discover something new.

This was all just a tad bit too much. These series of events had left the boy speechless. Firstly the kiss had rattled the young boy to the core. He wanted to step in during this new blonde girl's assault on Leah. He wanted to step in when the large red-haired stepped in to help. But no, Jack was shell shocked. It was like he was having an out of body experience. There wasn't any fear, but closer to a lack of knowledge and unwillingness to take action.
In a quick succession of punches kicks, kicks, and.....chokeholds? Jack just watched with his mouth slightly agape. Who would have thought that somebody so small could jump that high? He absolutely no clue who these people were, but was he the cause of this? This started because of that kiss, right?
The kiss girl finally turned to him and accused him of cheating on her. She seemed really convinced that he was together with Leah. "I'm not cheating on you!?" Jack blurted out loudly. Why did he say this? They weren't even in a relationship, but the boy couldn't exactly think straight at the moment. "I'm not with her! I- I was just talking to her! I came alone-" He stopped himself when she raised her hands. Why was he getting all defensive for being labeled a cheater from a person he had never met before. "Maybe the hospital wing is a good place to go." Maybe this could be a chance for him to help deescalate the situation. "Why don't I walk you there-" He felt so dumb. He just really didn't want anymore punches being thrown right now. He was all for a fight, but this felt more malicious than any fight that he had been in.

The Masquerade Ball
'Trifles?' Nico blinked a few times, a bit of silence lingering between them. 'What are those..?'
With the back of her hand she wiped away some remnants of her tears. Feeling the warm skin of a different person sort of calmed her down. Physical reassurance. In her moments of darkness, this is what she needed the most. 'I-I used to not be fond of the Great Hall. It was too big for comfort... And.. people sometimes gave me weird looks. I... I usually took snacks with me to eat during the day...'
People started to become more noisey. After the scene with Kaegan had calmed down, a new battle emerged in the middle of the room. Finally mustering the courage to look around, scared that people were staring at her, she noticed the opposite. The attention was pointed at ... a large guy. The masks made it so flippin hard to recognise anyone...
Someone who did stand out however, just because he didn't wore an outfit at all, was someone she knew very well. @Hugh Lowe
She had no idea he'd be here. Heck, she probably assumed he was already here, but seeing a face that wasn't covered in a fancy mask made her happy. Her best bud.
However, she didn't want to just drop this person she ran into who felt familiar to her. She didn't want them to feel the way she did at the Blossom Ball. Left alone. In the midst of a crowd with no faces. Abandoned. Dumped.
What now...
Carefully, she looked up at them. 'I-I'm sorry, I don't want to leave you standing here by yourself. Especially... since it's your birthday... But... I do want to dearly thank you for... reaching out for me. Maybe if you hadn't been here, I would've still been crying in a corner...' She smiled warmly at them. It was true. If this person hadn't pulled her out of her spiral of misery and fear, maybe Nico wouldn't have been able to communicate normally. 'T-That's why... T-Thank you..' She carefully leaned closer, and gave a small kiss on their cheek. It was quick and lasted but less than a second. Nico wasn't sure how else to show how much they helped her. It wasn't that she fell in love or anything... she felt saved. This person who showed her warmth when no one else did, was someone she wouldn't forget. 'I-I'm sure I'll see you around.'
And with that, Nico gave them a final small wave, before making her way over to her favourite toll friend. The chaos that happened next to her, she wasn't sure if she'd have to intervene... It looked awfully dangerous. But... so did the fire at the Blossom Ball...
B-But the fire was under control... The students did a great job. And yet... It cost her a spot in the ROAM program. She should ask Hugh. He was a former Prefect. He'd know what to do. Nico only knew she couldn't deal with this on her own right now. She didn't have much strength still after all the chaos about Dhampirs being monsters.
'H-Hugh! I... I didn't expect you to see here. You're a sight for sour eyes, truly. T-Things are... crazy right now...' Slightly hiding behind him, she eyed at the chaos that unfolded in the center. 'W-What should we do? I-... I know as a Prefect I'm supposed to step in... But I- I don't know how...' A few tears rolled down her cheeks again. She didn't want to be a failure. She coulddo her job... But... again she had to face something when she was at her weakest.

The Masquerade Ball
Interacting with @Adlai Rod, @Reid Kovacs, @Adam Harringtom and @Eris Fawley
Serena grinned at Reid as he greeted her and complimented her attire, "You guys scrub up pretty well yourselves!" She returned, not actually expecting Reid to have donned anything even remotely smart for the occasion. The Hufflepuff was absolutely thrilled when the conversation turned to the Quidditch World Cup. Or at least, when it was mentioned. Quidditch was, after all, the best thing about being a wizard in her eyes. "Right?!" She agreed with him in a heartbeat, "Have you been reading the Bludger? It's SO good!" She screamed over the noise.
It was... incredibly difficult to have a conversation with this music pounding in her ears. But the conversation was about Quidditch. How could she not scream about it? She really wanted to geek out over the Bludger with someone...
She frowned a little as she looked over to Adlai, who seemed a little awkward. She was just about to introduce her to the group when Reid and Adam did it themselves. Serena smiled, glad that Adlai was included in the conversation. Her friends were definitely in the nicer group of people at Hogwarts. "May as well have fun whilst we're here," She replied to Adlai, encouraging her to join in - even if the music was kind of strange.
Though... maybe it was growing on her. Serena laughed as Adam reminded her about their ballroom dancing practice. Gosh... It was over a year ago now. They had been trying to learn for a dance that did not even last more than five minutes. "Eh! Who needs ballroom dancing when you have... this?" She asked, not quite sure if this was an improvement to ballroom dancing or not... Though, a part of her had to admit that the dancing element to this was way more fun than ballroom dancing in her opinion. If only the music was a little quieter or had some lyrics that she actually understood. "It's uh... an interesting choice!" She replied, clearly uncertain about how she felt about it, "I dunno... It's kinda growing on me but I'd like some lyrics, I think!" She added as an afterthought.
Serena blinked as another voice interrupted the conversation. She quickly identified Eris, causing her to smile warmly at the sight of her friend and followed her eye line to Reid. She shrugged in reply, having absolutely no idea why Eri was there. She did not really know Eri well, in all fairness, so paid little attention to their conversation. "Have you seen yourself, Eris? You always look good!" Serena replied warmly, not thinking she had anything worth bragging about, "But you're always welcome to borrow anything," She added, happy to share. If she didn't share with her friends, what was the point of having things? At least, that was her logic.
"So what's this threat of mass destruction? Do I even want to ask?" Serena questioned, before shaking her head. She did not actually want to know, did she? It was mostly a hypothetical question. As long as it was stopped, everything would be okay right?
The added bonus of being shorter than most people meant that she could live in an ignorance bubble. From what she could see - which was her immediate surroundings and little else - the mosh pit was growing and people were having fun. She could not see over the shoulders of people, which was very good if you were trying to stay positive and happy. Probably not ideal if there was trouble brewing but hey, as long as she did not notice it, it did not affect her right?
OOC: Apologies for the delay, I didn't realise it was my turn!!

The Masquerade Ball
While San was taking care of their Quidditch Captain, Griseldis tried her best to stop the large ginger boy from going crazy. Until she heard the shaking voice that sounded so sad, he told her that she could release him from the chokehold now. Griseldis could feel how his body starting to slump on the floor as if he lost all his will to fight, his expression didn't really seem calm but there was sadness and shame in his eyes. She couldn't help but feel guilty about what she did to him, she took a deep breath and said to him with a tired tone, "Alright, I trust you not to go crazy again after I free you." With that being said, she slowly released the ginger boy from the chokehold, the skin around his throat already turned pink, showed how much strength she used on him in order to restrain him.Interacting with @Quinn Healy @Rosie ParkerMentioning @Santario Martin @Kyle DeRook @Alan Noble@Erin RyanOpen for Interactions
The moment she let go, a girl who seemed a bit older than her ran towards them with worry written all over her face. She watched as the older girl knelt down beside the Ginger boy and asking him how he was, Griseldis assumed she must be a friend of his. She first moved to the side so she could help him sit up, that was when she noticed that he was crying. This greatly shocked her because it was the first time she made someone cry, "H-hey! I'm so sorry! I didn't have a choice!", Griseldis slightly panicked a bit and used her long sleeve to wipe his tears away but she did a sloppy job for that. Then she looked up at the girl in front of them and tried to explain before it would lead to more misunderstandings, "This is really not what it looks like! I saw him and my captain were about to start a huge fight and as a Prefect of Gryffindor, I had no choice but to step in and stop him before more damage will happen. And...this was the only solution I could think of in the heat of the moment and I truly feel bad about it.", then Griseldis turned to look at the ginger with an apologetic smile, "I have no excuse for my choice of action so I'm really sorry for choking your throat."
The ginger seemed to come to his senses and began to apologize to everyone who was involved. Griseldis believed this wasn't entirely his fault, so she gently patted his shoulder to get his attention and looking back at the girl, she gave her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, all this must be a misunderstanding and normally I should give all of you detentions for fighting but...tonight we should have fun, it's the masquerade ball after all, how about you two go eat some delicious food over there?"
She pointed at a buffet not so far away from them, "You two seem to be friends so leave the rest to me and go enjoy yourselves." Griseldis would assist the girl to help the ginger up. If he was back on his feet, she would hold out her hand to him for a friendly handshake and introduce herself, "I'm Gris, and please don't be too hard on yourself, you do have people who care about you after all." She nodded to the girl. "I'll be going back to San, captain and my raven friend Alan. I think he must be very worried about me now. And next time, if we see each other again let me make it up to you." This time, her smile was a bright one, always trying to spread positivity.
