Curiosities in Pride
It was not a particularly warm evening on the grounds, but she had decided to take a walk after supper none-the-less. The breeze pushed her raven locks out behind her as she strolled leisurely in the ever-gaining darkness. Sometimes a girl just needed a walk along to help recharge her batteries and it had definitely been a while since she had allowed herself that chance. Especially not after the Whitehall situation that occurred at the beginning of the month. She was practically nonexistent in the Slytherin common room preferring to do her homework either in her dorm, in the great hall between meals surrounded by her friends, or in the breakroom area of the Headliner. This would make her a very hard girl to track down and find alone.Date: 30th of October | Time: 19:00 | Temperature: 4 Degrees C. | Occasional Medium Breeze
Since it was such a cold night, she had changed into her normal clothes including a pair of pants with no holes in them. She, however, did not have her camera bag as that wouldn’t do her any good tonight. It’s not like the moon was full or anything for her to be able to take night photos of the lake. Though the grounds in general at night could probably produce some amazing photographs.
This month had gone by so quickly as it seemed like almost yesterday that she had run away from the quidditch stands after seeing her best friend getting slammed in the head with a bludger. She barely remembered what happened in between watching him get hit and getting to see him in the hospital. That was one of the scariest moments of her life when she didn’t know if he was going to be okay again or not. She took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh before shoving her hands into her pockets to help keep them warm.
She should have grabbed her gloves but she had been in a slight hurry as she had wanted to make sure that she had plenty of time to take her time on her walk before curfew. She didn't want to think about those things he was fine and the looming anxiety about the ball tomorrow was not helping her. Another deep breath to try and calm her nerves because she was not looking forward to being around that many people.

Once again Erik found himself aimlessly wandering around the school grounds. He was wearing his regular school uniform, however he was just wearing his shirt and had his tie loosely hanging around his neck whilst he had slung his Slytherin robes over his shoulder. He truly loved the outdoors. It wasn't for him to be stuck inside those dusty, old walls. If he stayed inside for too long he felt like the walls came at him. He needed his space and let's be honest. What was better than running around in some tall grass, feeling it gently touching your skin, have the wind whip through your hair and smell the outdoors? Exactly nothing.
Too long he had been inside so the ultimate reward for his hard work today had been a walk. Erik didn't mind being on his own for a time. He actually preferred it. Not that he would go out of his way to avoid others, but sometimes all he needed and craved for was a bit of solace. He was after all a foreigner and no matter how beautiful Hogwarts was it didn't feel, look or smell like Norway. Like home. Not in the slightest, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy the outdoors though. No, this was the only thing that reminded him somewhat of home. Even if it did fall short. Well, that and his house to some degree.
Erik stopped his wandering as he stood there out in the open for a bit. He closed his eyes whilst looking up and allowed himself to just enjoy this moment of peace and quiet whilst letting his senses roam free and take in his surroundings.

She slowed her pace allowing herself to enjoy the crisp air even with the breeze playing with her hair and making her wish that she had remembered to grab a hair tie. So forgetful tonight then again what was a little forgetfulness for a little bit of peace? That was when she saw a figure out in the open and it stopped her dead in her tracks. She subconsciously moved her hand to her wand making sure it was there and in easy reach just in case. After all what if it was that creep? Slowly she would start to make her way over after all it was not often that she met other people on nightly strolls like this.
As she got closer she could start to just make out blonde hair which ruled out creep right away. Since she wasn't trying to hide herself she figured she would just greet them. If they wanted to be along they could simply say so and she would be on her way. “Hello, it is not often I see someone out here this late.” Her silvery voice carried to him by the wind would be neutral and hold none of the coldness that he had been greeted with the first time they had met. Even though she couldn’t see who he was from the angle that she approached him she could at least see his Slytherin colors.
In reality, it would have been very easy for them to have never seen each other out on walks. The grounds were a very large place, and her time outside could vary when she even had the time in the first place. She would stop herself at a socially acceptable distance wondering who it was that she had managed to stumble across this late evening, just happy that it wasn’t the creepy Whitehall kid because that would have been troublesome indeed.

As he took in his surroundings using only his senses he felt at peace. He could hear the wind blow against the leaves and feel the breeze pass against his skin. Erik could smell the leaves and grass around and... His eyes sprung open. What is that?, he asked himself. Immediately Erik was on edge and tense. Someone was here as well. He did not know what the person's intentions were, but if this person wanted to sneak up on him they would regret it immediately. He silently cursed himself as his wand had been in his robes and there was no way to get it in time before his opponent would unleash, at least, one spell at him first. So, he balled his fists and mentally prepared himself to turn around as fast as he could if the person could come a bit closer.
“Hello, it is not often I see someone out here this late.”, the person spoke. A girl!, Erik thought to himself. He was taken a bit off guard by that. What do I do now? I can't possibly hit a girl now can I? But I can't let myself get hit by a girl either right? What to do, what to do? Quickly he composed himself again as he analysed her voice. There seemed to be no malice or coldness to her voice, but somehow he recognised that voice. Where did I hear that voice before? As he racked his brain trying to place the voice, but it didn't occur to him. Slowly he decided to turn around.
One look at her and it hit him. The Quidditch game! I know you! You're the weird girl from the Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw quidditch match right?

It seemed to take the person a moment to turn around and perhaps it was because he was contemplating the same thing that she had been before approaching him. He would no doubt be able to smell the vanilla and almond scent that she always smelled like. Given that was her chosen scent of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. When he finally turned around, she had a flash of looking back at him from over her shoulder and remembered feeling angry about his hand on her shoulder. It seemed so trivial of a thing to be angry about, but then again it had just been the heat of the moment.
Weird Girl? Eh… I suppose. She was used to being called weird because she almost always had her camera with her and most people found her strange for that alone. “Santario Martin.” She introduced herself while taking a couple of steps closer and holding out her hand in greeting, and if he took it he would find she held a firm and respectable handshake. “I deeply apologize for the first time we met as I was a bit on edge. It’s not easy watching a friend take a bludger to the head and then think about the quidditch game that I was going to be in the next day.” The apology was very genuine even if she didn't allude to the fact that the Gryffindor that took the blow was far more important to her. In reality, watching her best friend take that bludger to the skull had shaken her to her core, but now that it was almost a month later she had seemed to of gotten over it.
If he never took her hand in greeting or when he released it, it would casually return to her pocket to stay out of the cold. Her hands always lost heat the fastest even when there was not a breeze and although her dorms were heated she still had a pair of fingerless gloves that she kept on her desk to use when she wanted to write.

The girl seemed to recognise him as well. Of course you did. I mean how could you not? Erik always left a lasting impression with those he encountered. Even if it was for the briefest of moments and certainly when it was the opposite gender. He was good looking and he knew it. No doubt she would thank the stars that their pads had crossed once more.
"Santario Martin.”, she said as she stepped closer to him and held out her hand. Erik stretched out his hand and took hers in a polite, but firm grip as he shook her hand. I'm Erik. Erik Tharaldson, heir to the Pure-blood family Tharaldson. Santario then quickly followed up by apologizing for her behaviour during the Quidditch match. The Slytherin boy was going to interrupt her, but then his ears pricked up as she called that Gryffindork her friend.
Did I just hear that correctly? Being friends with a Gryffindork? What is happening? Our houses are mortal enemies aren't they not? He just stood there for a moment analyzing her. She seemed to be sincere. You've got to be kidding me., he thought. Wow, that was your..., Erik had trouble with the word, friend, huh? That must have been awful. I'm sorry to hear that. The Norwegian boy hoped his sarcastic undertone had gone unnoticed. He had done his best to be polite as well even though the girl had a very odd choice of friends.

A pureblood elitist… Of course, he would be a pureblood elitist. She mentally scoffed while retaining a neutral and stoic demeanor. It would be just her luck that she would have to deal with another one of them and now she was silently cursing having been curious in the first place. More than likely another walk ruined. He took too long to reply and that told her that he was trying to choose his words wisely which meant the boy, at least, had manners.
Unfortunately for the boy in front of her picking up speech patterns and social queues was what she was good at. “Hm, yes, I’m sure you might have felt the same way if it was your friend.” Her tone remained neutral as there were no hostilities or malice held within her about him. There was obviously going to be a difference in opinion with them just given how he had introduced himself. She was the sole heir to her patriarchal side and the matriarchal was pureblood she just wasn’t the heir on that side. She didn’t see the point in flaunting her heritage especially not in this day and age, times had changed.
She felt like she should be careful around him because if he was a pure-blood elitist then no doubt, he was also a house elitist, which probably already put her on his bad side. Talking to people she didn’t know at Hogwarts really was a fifty-fifty shot at whether they were friendly or not. She so far had a close enough group of friends that she could probably justify no longer seeking out new social interactions. She wasn’t a social butterfly, after all, she preferred her solitude. “Well, Erik, I am sorry for disturbing your peaceful evening. I’ll leave you to it then.” She would move to casually continue her stroll if he did not address her further.

Perhaps, but then again, I wouldn't possibly be able to stand a Gryffindork's attitude in the first place., was all Erik could think about her remark. He was smarter than to give her that as an answer. I suppose so. He thought about all his encounters with other students. No-one had left a lasting impact on him, nor had their grown a lasting friendship out of any of them. Now he thought of it, that was quite regretful, but maybe his luck had turned. Maybe she could at the very least make an impression that would be hard to forget.
Erik didn't know if she just didn't like him or just wanted to be left alone, but then again why had she otherwise approached him if it were not to have a conversation? So, he decided to do the only logical thing. Wait up!, he said as he saw her trying to walk away. Allow me to accompany you on your walk or are you heading back to the common room? Either way alone is, but alone. Am I right? Erik genuinely smiled at her and provided his arm, hoping she would take him up on his invitation. She intrigued him. Sure, they probably would disagree on a lot of things considering she had an odd choice of friends, but Erik wasn't one to shy away from confrontation nor discussion. No, he rather enjoyed that.

She had barely started to turn away when Erik asked her to wait the wind caught her just right as she started to turn back and pulled her hair right into her face. She reached up and swept all her hair back out of her face by sliding her fingers through it and letting it tousle onto her back. He asked if he could accompany her and her sharp sapphire eyes analyzed him for a moment as if she was deciding whether she was going to actually accept his offer.
However, the boy offered her his arm, and she was from a well-mannered family and when you were offered an escort and an arm you took it. It was, after all, the proper thing to do, so her eyes moved from his arm back up to his face with a nod. She would take a couple of steps towards the boy and take his offered arm letting her slender fingers come to rest near the crook of his elbow on his forearm. “You raise a valid point. One I would not dare to try and argue.” He may more than likely be a pure-blood elitist but he was also a Slytherin and seemingly well brought up one.
If she could gain him as an ally it would be one more person in the Slytherin area that could help her deal with the Whitehall boy. After his terrifying behavior in the common room, she had been hardly seen there. That was if the boy even remained to be a problem as she had not heard from him nor seen him in almost a month. Admittedly it also didn’t hurt for her to actually try and make friends from her own house as so far, she only had one friend that resided within the Slytherin house. “I planned on walking to the forest and back if that suitable for you. We have more than enough time to do that and get back to our common room before curfew.”
Walking down to the forest and back was her favorite walk to take and she usually did it when she was trying to clear her head. It had been happening more than she would like to admit especially after her talk with Jake. There was just something deep down that told her she shouldn't disregard what the boy had told her about Kyle, but she hadn't had time to think about it alone yet.

Curiosities in Pride
Every day just about Kyle found himself on the Quidditch pitch to train. Either with his team, with his best friend Santario, or alone. Tonight however was one of the times where he would be training alone. The hufflepuff team had the pitch earlier during his training time so he made it a point to do some other things. He played a few games of Wiazrds chess with himself, he went to class, and he made sure to catch a meal or two at the hall.
Finally he noticed the Training pitch was empty so he changed into his crimson and gold Quidditch robes, his armor, and grabbed his bat and broom before heading off to the pitch. He spent a couple of hours flying laps, doing speed and maneuvering exercises, and a couple reaction exercises as well. Eventually he was exhausted, and he was content with the progress he made this day. When he was done he decided to lock his broom up in the supply shed since he planned on being back first thing in the morning, his bat however he wanted to keep on him. Just in case.
Kyle ruffled his hair as he made his back through the grounds towards the Castle, when a breeze rolled by and he caught the faintest scent of vanilla and almond on the hair and he cocked his head to the side. Was Santario out here? why? he began to wander in the direction the wind blew from until he eventually saw two figures, standing very close to one another. As he moved closer to them he recognized Santario almost immediately, and her scent was more noticeable at this range. However, the male she was with he didnt recognize, and the way her arm was hooked through his he couldn't help but feel a slight pang in his chest that he wouldn't be able to identify as the jealousy that it was so much as maybe he was just sore from his training.
Then it hit him. The scent of the other boy. It was a stench he could recognize anywhere. It was a smell he gave off, the smell that lingered in the shack he was locked away in every month. This boys blood reeked of lycanthropy. The hairs on the back of Kyle's neck stood on end, his pupils dilated and he squeezed the handle of his bat so tight his knuckles were going white. Kyle needed to get her away from him
"M-Muppet...Hey." he grinded his teeth. While the monster had her so close he needed to be wary, he couldn't risk her getting hurt. So much as a scratch could change her for life. His grey blue eyes were locked on Erik with a red hot intensity. "Just got done at the pitch...im starving. bet we could still grab something in the great hall, yeah?"
