Food for the Soul
"Two sides to every coin." Emerly nodded, having finished eating. He opened his book and held up one of the clovers there, "If we're fortunate." his eyes glimmered at Gem, and he pointed with a free finger at the Ravenclaw's pocket, "Maybe if I could find a four-leaf clover for everyone, they could all find someone for themselves that will be willing to match their pace. I hope you do, Gem Stuart." He crossed his ankle over his knee, gently twirling the sprout before carefully placing it back between the worded pages, closing the book of fairytales with its purple binding and golden filigree, he turned to him again and laughed, "I hope you find someone that will make you feel like you're in one of these stories here. And when you do, maybe I'll bring my tortoise self to your wedding as well. Let's hope I won't be late!" Emerly noticed quite a few students were already heading out, and heard one of the paintings hurrying them along so they wouldn't be late for their first classes. He abruptly stood up, "Speaking of that I'd better get going!" He seemed rather distracted, trying to remember what books and supplies he'd have to pick up from his dorm before heading over to Herbology. It was a long ways to go- he also needed to pick up his Astrology homework to finish up the details during breaks.
He seemed to remember himself and peered back at the fellow as the students began leaving the Great Hall.
"Thanks for that. That was... food for the soul, I must say. That music-player of yours is really cool, vintage, but different than anything I've seen before. Definitely helped calm me down... I hope my advice wasn't too nosy. If you would really to start a band or something, perhaps we can meet up at some time and place. We just have to remember to not neglect our studies as well!"

@Gem Stuart what began as Gem being concerned has gradually turned into a philosophical discussion about the intricacies of love and I think that's great xD Grandpa Emerly indeed.

Food for the Soul
@Emerly Pine
It felt funny, having someone wish him so well. Wishing him well, all that at the age of eleven - he took a second to look away, his tongue dragging along his top row of teeth.
"Pshaw, I wouldn't eveah forget ta invite ya, Em." He elbowed him playfully, plucking one last piece of food off the napkin, a cherry, and vacuumed it into his mouth, holding it by the stem. He didn't have much of a response when Emerly announced he had to get going to class - had time really passed that quickly? He couldn't believe it, enjoying company really made time go at record breaking speeds. He swore to God, it was... well, witchcraft. Or maybe just the fact he felt like he didn't have enough time, hm.
"Awh, yeh it was. An' hey, your advice wos real nice, I ought to listen ta more wise people than meself. I'll make better decisions when I figure out how not ta be selfish an' stubborn. Guess it's joost a matter of time, innit?" He winked up at the young Slytherin, thinking about the lucky four leaf clover he'd picked up, breathing a small breath out of his nose, a sort of 'huh'.
"Food for tha soul, aye?" He mumbled, watching Emerly disappear into the crowd of students. "Sure, tha's a fun way ta put it." He stood up, collecting the radio and the trash, letting himself slip into the crowd without a word. Still, even as he walked, he wore a snide smile on his face, rethinking that lucky charm. He didn't think he'd forget that for a long time, maybe because green wasn't so forgettable. He could tell himself that.gem has left the thread
Reducioi love grandpa emerly more than i love myself
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
