The Missing Wand

Time: Two weeks in the new school year.
Just after lunch, Lillian was rushing in the crowd of first-year Gryffindors, hurrying to her next class, still not in the swing of things. Lillian put her hands in her pockets, bending down to squeeze through the crowd.
But when she put her hands in her pockets she was so surprised that she stopped moving, not noticing the 'why d'ya stop's from her fellow Gryffindors.
Oh, no! oh, no! thought Lillian panicky My wand is missing!
A couple deep breaths later Lillian thought about the last place that she had seen her wand. At the Gryffindor table she had taken out her new wand out to fondly look at it, in the middle of eating. So her wand must be back at the Gryffindor table laying on the bench.
With that knowledge, she battled the current of students back to the Great Hall. She walked back to the table. A girl was bent over the table looking at something. Lillian thought she looked young, probably a first year.
A second glance told Lillian that the girl had a wand in her hand.
Squint. Lillian looked closer. That was her wand!
That girl had her wand! Lillian was very possessive of her new wand. Lillian took a deep breath to approach the girl to ask for it back.

After the girl asked if the wand was Lillian's and then said, "Hold your horses! I got my own wand and wands only work well with the person they chose!" Lillian relaxed.
Of course, she thought I've just been jumping to conclusions. She took a deep breath, realizing the impossibilities of Ellie stealing her wand. Ellie's wand chose her, so she probably wouldn't want Lillian's wand anyway. And if the girl wanted the wand, she wouldn't of asked Lillian if it was hers. She would have ran off and Lillian would have never seen her. Mabie I've been a bit too overprotective of my wand, Lillian thought.
"So, umm... Thanks for finding it," Lillian said as she took it, trying to be pleasant, friendly, and seem grateful. "See...Doesn't it look like an owl?" she said motioning to her wand hilt, so the girl knew what she ment.
The hilt paint looked like the top half of a white heart with black curves, like closed eyes. It was against a dark brown background of wood.
Lillian didn't know why she showed the girl the owl, she had never showed anyone before. Lillian didn't want anyone thinking she was weird or stupid to find owls in wands. Mabie she showed the girl to prove she was friendly and sorry that she had jumped to conclusions.

Lillian and Ellie had a quick chat for a few minutes and became acquaintances before having to hurry back to class. In the future they may or may not remember one another due to this not being a major event in either's memory. Although they chatted for a few minutes it was so short and they had to hurry to class, neither can remember much of what it was about.Abandoned thread!
