A Little Slice of Peace open

The school year had begun and she had been sorted into her house, Slytherin of course just like her entire family had been for generations. She had just finished exploring the halls, figuring out where everything was and remembering where her classes would be before deciding she would go to the one place she knew that would bring her peace during the next few years at Hogwarts.

As she reached the first floor she started making her way down the hall. Some of her classes would also be taken over the years on this very floor. She took a left and pushed the door open and stepped inside, seeing shelves upon shelves of books made her heart skip a beat. It was beautiful! She had never seen so many books in her life, even her library at home wasn't this big.

After soaking up the wonderful smell of aged books and parchment she headed down one aisle between two shelves and softly trailed her fingers along the bindings of the books, some fragile and some still strong. She grabbed a book off the shelf with a careful and gentle grip and wiped the dust off the cover. She opened it and thumbed through the pages, the edges lined with a beautiful gold colour. She took the book to the table and sat down. The book was a muggle book, about the history of art, she pulled out her parchment and her quill and ink and started taking down some notes. "Interesting..." she uttered under her breath.

Anybody is welcome to join in, just so you know Aurelia is a book worm ane so if she's reading something and your character does try to intereact with her your character may need to lightly nudge her to get her attention because she tends to immerse herself in the books she reads.

A Little Slice of Peace open
Kaden absolutely despised anything to do with school. He'd hoped that Hogwarts would be different, what with the magic bit and all. Yet, he'd only been settled for a few hours when he'd received his courses and the books they required. He'd gotten one before he came to Hogwarts, attached to his letter, but he'd tossed it aside not thinking anything of it. He hadn't had a chance to actually go to Borgins and Burkes when he was in Diagon Alley, so he didn't purchase the course material he needed. To say he was unhappy was a huge understatement.

Alas, Kaden wasn't dumb. He knew he struggled more than the average, and he did want to turn over a new leaf this year. So he decided to take some initiative. He took it upon himself to seek the one place he absolutely dreaded. The library. After settling into his room, he'd grabbed his satchel, filling it with parchment and quills. He took hold of his course list and set out. After a few minutes wandering aimlessly around the halls (and almost taking more than a few wrong turns), he'd finally found the tomb of doom as he so creatively called it.

Making his way inside, his eyes peered around the library, a feeling of distain dripping down his core. "What's one way to make school even worse? Oh I know! An entire room dedicated to books!" He thought sarcastically as he made his way further inside. With a heavy sigh, he began his task of finding the books he would need for the year.

After a treacherous battle trying to search through the no doubt millions of books in the library, he'd finally found everything he needed. He was on his way out when he came across something quite peculiar. Well, to him at least. Only a few feet ahead of him, perched at a table, scribbling furiously, nose stuffed in what seemed to be quite an old book, sat a girl. She had to be his age, maybe a year older max. Kaden looked upon her in confusion, not being able to wrap his head around the idea of studying before classes even begun. As he moved closer, he noticed her robes, faltering for a second. You'd have to be an idiot not to notice how the other houses reacted to the Slytherin house. It was also passed through the grapevine to him that Slytherins weren't so keen about muggle-borns.

Taking a second to decide, Kaden finally took a deep breath, before continuing forward. You could call him everything under the sun, but a coward wasn't what he was raised to be. With the sliver of Gryffindor courage the hat had seen in him, he strode forward, stopping to peer over her shoulder.

"You do realize classes haven't started yet right?" His Scottish accent seeping through his words. When he didn't receive a response, his eyebrows furrowed as he continued to wait. After a second, he'd finally just decided to give her a prod on the shoulder, hoping to the Gods she wouldn't try to hex him. He reached out touching her shoulder lightly, as he cleared his throat, waiting for her attention.

So sorry about it being so long
A Little Slice of Peace open
Aurelia was so immersed in the book she was reading and the notes she was taking, anybody who walked by would probably think she was nuts for "studying" already but she couldn't help it. Hogwarts, despite being a magic school had some of the best books in stock on Art theory and history, some of which you could no longer find, not even in Muggle London. She simply could not pass up any chance to improve and better both her knowledge on art and her general art style. Taking a slight break to flex her hand and tuck a few strands of her long black curly hair behind her ear that had fallen she let out a sigh. Then before she knew it she was right back to scribbling on her parchment again, remembering of course to dip her quill in her ink constantly.

Around 30 minutes later she was so immersed in her book she hadn't even noticed that a student had approached her to talk to her, that was until the student touched her shoulder. This in turn caused her to let out a quiet yelp of surprise and jump in her seat due to the fact that she wasn't expecting it. She put her quill down on the table and flipped her book onto her front, letting it rest on the table as she looked up at the male standing behind her. She gave a soft smile to the fellow student , which was quite unusual for a Slytherin, but more so unusual for a pureblood and she spoke up, her Birmingham accent breaking through behind every word, "Hey, what's up? Did you need some help or something?" She asked, completely oblivious to the question she was asked whilst she was immersed in her book.
