Rowan snorted a laugh at Miko's words. How disgusting. The male would have covered his mouth had it not been he had to hold himself up still. He did, however, have to keep himself from toppling over because of this instinctive behavior. Which he managed, but was clearly embarrassed by.

Rowan winced at Miko's next comment, just a little. Less so a pained one but definitely not a pleased one. "Less than favorable I would call it." He grumbled, looking down. If he could rub his temples he would. One thing this dance did not have in common was open space. It was getting rather crowded in here and he hated it just a tad. There could only be so many raindrops before it became a raging storm.

Miko somehow fished him out of his own head though after a moment, dragging him back to reality a few words at a time.

"It doesn't look bad y'know." He said gently, eyes skimming over him once before falling back to the floor. His next question surprised him. Had he not known he was talking to him, Rowan would have almost thought he was referring to him. Only then did he realise something.

The only reason Miko liked him could just be because...

"Kaegan Deathmote. Almost killed me in first year with a home made bomb. But that's insignificant. As for what he is, he's a dhampire. Half vampire. He's actually a pretty cool kid when you take the time to know him and not just treat him like a monster." Venom worked it's way into his words in the last bit there somehow. He didn't know how or why, but he did his best to ignore it.

"Sorry- but- do you just wanna leave this joint and go to the rehearsal room? It's way less crowded and I'm getting a head ache just from standing here."

Oh boy. A fight in the grounds? On top of whatever had been going on here... it seemed they really should not throw events like this at the school, it only attracted the worst of trouble. He had thought it to be an exaggeration, but it had turned out to be true – and he hadn't even been at the school for a year.

He hesitated for a moment, Caradoc was quite capable as far as he knew and therefore might not need any help with whatever situation awaited him on the grounds but then again, the girl's information was pretty vague. It might not be a bad idea to have more than a single professor checking on the situation, depenidng on how many students were actually involved, and there were still enough staff members in the room to deal with whatever the students might get up to.

Nodding to Professor Price, Zahid turned to head after Caradoc. “I suppose I will accompany him, two sets of eyes on whatever is happening out there might be better than one.” He strode of without waiting to check if Professor Price would follow them out as well – it was the Potion Professor's decision and he did not think it wise to waste time in further waiting. The less time the students had to beat each other up, the fewer of them would need to go to the hospital wing, hopefully.

Nearing the exit he saw how Professors Jensen and Browne bumped into each other before going their separate ways. He just hoped that she did not have to attend to yet another incident – the staff's numbers were limited, after all.

Turning to follow Caradoc and the girl that had alerted them, he lengthened his stride to catch up to his colleague.

Griseldis would drag Alan along with her and would try to manage to walk pass through the large crowd in the ballroom. At first, she thought they were going to reach the girl who wore a black fox mask. However, the moment they were in the middle, what they saw in front of them shocked her. A boy who dressed like a rebel just punched really hard at a bigger boy's lower left jaw, causing him to let go of a girl's hand. The larger boy screamed in pain and it didn't take long for him to get extremely angry. He roared at the person who was responsible for the punch, cursing with pure anger. She watched in horror when the boy became like a dangerous beast, without any sanity left in his mind, completely blind from rage at this point.

"O-oh no!", no matter how much Griseldis wanted to make sure the girl with the fox mask was fine, there was absolutely no way she could ignore this fight at all. This was way more dangerous than the last fight that happened in the...ballroom...it looked like she was cursed that a fight would always happen when she entered a ballroom.

The Gryffindor Prefect had no time to apologize to Alan and let go of his hand, she dashed towards the giant boy who was about to connect his fist to the person's face. "PLEASE FORGIVE ME!", Grisleids shouted at the angry boy, she didn't care if he heard her warning or not. She decided to use one of the martial arts she learned to stop his powerful attack.
Ability used: Martial Artist - Choke Hold
Griseldis quickly went to the target's back, and jumped to throw her arms around his neck from behind and attempted to chokehold him in order to stop his action right before it could escalate.  She could only pray to Merlin that this would buy some time for the others who are around them to take action and do something helpful with the situation.

During his dance with Heather, Andrew thought he saw Dan and Ozzy not too far away from him. Dan was his roommate and one of his best friends. Of course he'd recognize Dan's costume and bare feet easily. Spotting Ozzy without shoes on, instead dancing in his socks with Dan, made Andrew both mentally facepalm as well as giggle to himself. They were a perfect match for each other. If Dan and/or Ozzy happened to look his way, Andrew would give a little friendly wave at them, but other than that, he didn't want to distract Dan and Ozzy from their private moment, instead turning his attention back to Heather as they continued their brisk dance.

Things were going swell until Heather suddenly tripped. Caught off guard, Andrew lost his grip on his dance partner as her weight fell to the floor, into the people around them.

"Heather!" Andrew's yelp of shock was barely heard over the blaring music as he pushed his way through the crowd -- hopefully not shoving anyone rudely aside -- in his haste to reach the fallen girl. "You alright?" He'd ask her, once he was within earshot above the music for Heather to hear him.

One look at her bare face instantly told him that things were not all right. It didn't so much concern him that Heather's mask was gone, but her glasses.. Heather's glasses were missing! Panic arose within him as he tried to help Heather off the floor. Searching for the glasses and mask came second priority. Andrew's first goal was to get Heather to safety and escort her to one of the tables nearby. It was hazardous for anyone - with or without sight - to be on all fours, crawling around in the middle of the dancefloor where tons of people around might step on or trip over them. . .

The music's bass was loud enough to pulse in Heather's bones. It had already been that strong just from standing on the floor, which had helped throw her balance off. But now that more of her body was in contact with the ground, the throbbing beat was downright painful. She winced, struggling to rise while still feeling around for her glasses. There were no shapes to see around her anymore, only an always moving mass of light, shadow, color, and sound.

She heard Andrew's voice nearby, felt his hands on her arms. She sighed with relief as he pulled her upright, though he too was a shapeless blur of color before her eyes now. "I... I think I'm alright... Just... I think my bones are humming... I need to sit down..." She leaned on him, trying not to topple him, but not trusting her ability to walk straight at the moment until her innards stopped pulsing. She felt nauseous and shaky. "Can you find my glasses anywhere? I can't see a thing."

The yelling sounded like it was getting worse as if a whole brawl had or was on the verge of breaking out, and she didn't want to be anywhere near it. She could hear a boy--or was it a wounded animal?--roaring in a fury, and another voice screaming for forgiveness. There was a third voice, male, she thought, shouting for the professors to intervene. She dearly hoped they would.

She clutched at Andrew's arm out of fear as they passed dangerously close--to her ears anyway--to the source of the combat. The rallying cry of "Professor!" was nearer still, and she felt more than saw a presence as they passed, someone large and imposing. Another student? She knew some were larger than others, rumors of some kids being half-giant, but she had never met any of them personally.

Finally they were back at their table, and she gratefully sank into her chair. She knew it was theirs because Andrew helped her into the seat where she had left her guide cane. She fumbled for her drink, spilling it in the process, and sighed in annoyance. "Sorry. I guess I ruined our dance, huh?" she said to Andrew.

At the tall boy's roar, Leah jumped. Had she caused this? Was this all her fault? If she hadn't been talking to Jack, maybe the first girl wouldn't have pinched her, and this boy wouldn't have intervened, and all of these other students wouldn't have jumped in to stop him. From her perspective, the boy who had helped - and he truly was immensely tall - had become suddenly enraged by whatever the other girl has done or said, and this had attracted more attention than the punching girl's yelling.

She looked around and saw students staring. Nobody would notice if she slipped away... but no. She had to put an end to this. Maybe she could explain that the girl who had attacked her was mistaken, and that this fight was completely unnecessary.

A deep breath, and she had mustered up enough courage to start - and then how could she stop without finishing her message?

"Stop!" she said, raising her voice over the shouting. "You don't need to fight! I think there's just been a..." She paused and looked at all the gathered people. "... huge misunderstanding."

She turned to the boy who had helped her. "Thank you for blocking the punch - I'm really grateful - but you don't need to fight everyone. Maybe we can solve this peacefully?"

"Nnnngh!!" He felt someone wrap their arms around his neck. The sudden weight along with the chokehold caused him to loose his balance and reel back. Because of the reach of his arms the punch would instead be aimed lower and hit Kyle's chest. With most of his weight now thrown back the punch would hurt but it would not break or damage anything. Maybe a light bruise but most of the force was dissipated as he started to thrash about attempting to throw her off.

All the while his aimless rage only grew as on the inside he was lost in the torrent of his rage feeling alone and hurt. 'Why do they attack me? I just wanted to help. I didn't mean to hurt her why?'

It was soft and unless you were right next to him you wouldn't be able to hear it. But a very feminine voice came out from his lips. It was noticeably higher pitched but there was also a very rough gruffness to it. Like it was always angry an on the edge of clocking someone. It wasn't Quinn's voice. Curious.

'O-Okay...' Everything suddenly turned dark and he was alone. But he didn't feel anything and that felt great, it felt so good he just wanted to stay there however..."G-Get off or else I'll!!!" He suddenly gasped and was his mind was wrenched back to reality. They pain from the chokehold and deprevation from air as he failed to break the hold causing him way more pain then he thought it should. That's when the rest of the pain came back and the feminine voice that rang out before suddenly disappeared as he fell to his knees.

Tears streamed down his cheeks and he softly muttered I'm sorry through choked gasps as rather suddenly he allowed himself to fall forward. He just wanted it all to stop. He couldn't do anything right, he blacked out for who knew how long, he tried to help and was instead attacked. Now it seems people attacked him again only to stop him, and worse it seems he caused more trouble then good. Sometimes he really wished he was never born. He was just so angry but the anger could no longer override the immense pain he was in. An at least for the moment he was tamed. Not calm just...restrained. "You...can...let go...hard breathe..." He slumped over looking at the ground ashamed. Rosie must be ashamed to know a monster like him.

Chris looked into the group of students and noticed that the room was starting to fill up quite quickly, with students and teachers alike. However, some of them looked a bit bigger and taller than most people in the room "Its a pity..." she spoke, "This school is full of more races and creatures then anyone would like to admit. Its 2019, for Merlin's sake. What does it matter anymore where someone came from, what happened to them, who their parents are, what their blood status is... none of that shite matters anymore as long as the proper measures are there to keep everyone safe." said Illowy from behind him. The girl was totally right, what was the point in ridiculing someone because of their background, everyone was in the same boat at this school, no matter the circumstances "Its exhausting and not very helpful witch hunting those who are different from the perfect, pure blooded wizarding families." she added onto the comment. Chris slowly turned around to her, his sharp eyes keeping a check on his surroundings as he spoke "They are afraid of the unknown, change is something they are not willing to accept right now." Said the Slytherin in an almost cold tone "It's like a disease that never goes away."

Sugarcoating a subject was never a way to go, saying it will get better would never accomplish anything and give false hope to something which may never happen. But hell, it wouldn't hurt if people around Hogwarts woke up and faced the problem head on. The ball around them was starting to pick up the pace with the chaos, he noticed a few starting to fight across the room as well as arguments being faintly covered by the terrible music choice the school provided. Illowy also didn't look to good, she looked nervous... but from what? was it the fact everyone around her was sending the ball into chaos once more? who knew at this point. Chris didn't blame her at all, after what happened last time he would of felt a sense of unease. The boy looked into her eyes and hesitantly held out his hand, as if to offer her a dance. Dancing was something totally out of his comfort zone, it made him on edge with people gazing over at him, but for one night only he was willing to make an exception "This may sound strange, but do you care to join me on the dance floor?" he asked almost from out of the blue. He wanted to do something which would take her mind off the trouble going on around them, even if it meant causing some personal demoralisation while doing it.

Iris cracked open her eyes and was confused. She was in Diagon Alley, a purple mist flowed between the houses. She blinked and she was drinking frothy butterbeer, but only a drip entered her mouth. An owl flew at her face and Iris ducked.

She was in her old home and her parents were hugging her then her siblings were squirting water guns at her face, but a drip entered her mouth, it tasted like butterbeer again. She was reminiscing her last birthday when her siblings had surprised her with water.

The scene changed and she was out by the Great Lakes. A vampire was dragging her towards the lake, its eyes were glistening with an evil glow. Iris' eyes fluttered open to see the roof of the masked ball and a strangled scream came out, "Agugh" before the scenery changed yet again. She was back with the vampire and it was leaning over her. The familiar nightmare got progressively worse before it changed again.

Someone was talking. The vision swam before her eyes. Tieki, someone else. Then darkness. She saw Tieki again, she tried to say, "I'm fine" but it turned out as "Imfng" Her surroundings spun again.

Another nightmare haunted her. A dementor floated in front of her. Her sisters- Jennifer and Ruby- were beside her screaming as their souls were leaving them. Iris yelled, "No, don't hurt them!" She wept beside them, but no tears would fall. The black ghosts floated away, leaving Iris alone.

The nightmare faded, leaving Iris back in the endless void of unconsciousness.

There was an uneasy feeling in the pit of Bridget's stomach, a queasiness she couldn't shake. Why was it there though, this imminent sense of doom? Sure, there were several… scuffles, for lack of a better word, breaking out in several locations but she was fairly far away from them. Besides, none of that was her problem as she certainly wasn't strong enough to separate anyone and she wasn't eloquent enough to mediate that way. So what was it that was so concerning?

The professors were leaving. That's what it was, at least partly. The majority of masked figures who were both tall and carried themselves with that air of superiority were slipping out for one unknown reason or another. Mere seconds after her hazel eyes picked up the fact, Thora was voicing the same concern.

"It's not just you. They're leaving. Most of them, anyways." The short girl stood up on her tippy-toes, dancing from side to side as she tried to see over people and figure out who was left. At least she was in sneakers and not risking twisting her ankle, because if something really was wrong she wanted to be completely capable of bolting. It was also a good thing she'd brought her wand. She spotted a horned mask, a ridiculously extravagant crimson dress… probably a Professor; in fact, almost certainly one, although who Bridget didn't know. Next to her was a man with a tree-like mask and she was pretty sure he was the Herbology Professor. There was the armored Headmaster, of course, who was dancing with a lady who couldn't possibly be anyone but a staff member. Then, there appeared to be one other male teacher but she couldn't tell who. That meant there were only five Professors in the ballroom, unless she'd missed one, and that was far too few.

"Erm… there's two female Professors, not sure who, and the Herbology Professor… and another teacher… and Headmaster Lear, of course, although I think that's it." Bridget had the feeling Thora had the right idea, edging towards a group of other students. Standing on the edge of the room, just two Muggleborn second years--if something really was amiss, which everything in her screamed it was, their original location away from the crowds had definitely been hazardous.

Something warm brushed Phyllis' arm. A hand, that was it, Karilyna's hand. Her friend told her that she was right there and by the way she was talking it sounded like she'd somewhat picked up of Phyllis' fear. Cue internal groan. She didn't have any time to get mad at herself for being a wimp though because first off, she was still a bit scared even though she wasn't alone anymore, and besides, the other girl was dragging her out of the smoke. Which was a good thing because her eyes were stinging really bad from it and she'd started to cough a bit.

Astrid was on the other side of the terror-substance, just where she said she'd be in very inspiringly sarcastic way. As they were starting to become pretty good friends, it was high time the fellow Thunderbird had a nickname. Perhaps The Mime, because she had an awesome habit of acting things out, or maybe Her Royal Snarkness. That was a decision for later at least, perhaps with the consent of Karilyna, but they couldn't have a tight group of pranksters when one of them didn't have a ridiculous nickname.

And then things went back downhill as some third year, who ended up being Iris, decided to black out. Come on dude, of all things to do, she chose fainting? It was better than those people kissing each other, but like seriously, couldn't she dance or something? Of course she didn't actually volunteer to pass out, but still, it was annoying. Karilyna wanted to follow, and although Phyllis wasn't super positive she wanted to get involved in more drama she supposed she couldn't say anything as she'd just sprinted into imminent death about five minutes ago.

Apparently the girl, who appeared to be her age, that had been with Iris when she fell thought it would be good to drag her out of the ballroom. That wouldn't have been Phyllis' first choice, but the girl probably knew what she was doing--after all, she'd witnessed the whole thing. Also, apparently Karilyna knew this girl. But she said "hi Teiki" and the redhead was pretty sure that was what her buddy had said her quill pal was named. Iris then started muttering a bunch of randomness in whatever weird hallucination-state she was in, which was pretty creepy in the otherwise empty hallway. Oh well. For now she'd just stand off to the side because she didn't have a clue what to do anyway.

Teiki was crouched by Iris, who hadn't seemed to have gotten conscious. Luckily for Teiki, who probably couldn't handle this stress much longer, some others decided to come over. More specifically Karilyna, and some others, probably from Ilvermorny.

"Oh hey. So I'm sorry that this looks bad, but I swear I'm trying to help her. And yes, I could use more help. I don't really know how to help Iris." Teiki blushed, trying to ignore all the ideas of what other people would say that were racing through her head. Hopefully not too many noticed, but already three had found out, so... Well, she would worry about the consequences later.

"No, you're not fine. Please, drink." Teiki mumbled in response to Iris's confused jerk awake. Teiki's face was holding a slightly guilty/empathetic look. She tentatively held up the cup again to pour a few drops into (or onto) Iris's mouth. Teiki slumped when sheknew when Iris was back into her dreamworld. She wasn't used to anything really being of any large consequence, and she had never had to deal with any medical situations, unless it was a small cut that could easily use a bandage.

"I have no clue when I should be doing right now." Teiki muttered, looking over at the group that had arrived

"Normal would be amazing. And I think that's the first time I've ever said that. Or twice, I guess." Astrid replied, walking over to the other girls when she could finally see them. With the cacophony of noises, Astrid only heard someone falling as a distant, faint thud. But it was still noticeable among this mess, so Astrid found herself to be a little surprised.

"If it gets us away from smoke and people fighting, then sure." Astrid remarked, taking in the Ball- if it could be called that. The fight had increased since she had last looked over, and she was glad that they decided to walk the other way, towards a quieter place.

But only for a few steps.

Having not heard what Karilyna had said, a she noticed was the girl run off towards the exit. She gave no one in particular a confused glance, before running after Karilyna, almost sure that Phyllis was probably a few steps ahead of her. She ducked around the corner to find.. an unconscious girl. So that was the thud. She hadn't been paying that much attention she realized. She overheard Karilyna, and a quick mental realization told her that Karilyna was talking to Teiki, her pen pal. She had briefly mentioned it earlier, outside of Hogwarts.

"So, hello there. You seem to... I don't honestly know actually. Sorry 'bout that." Astrid stared blankly at the two girls. So, this is not something I was expecting.. And I have no idea what to do about it.
Great.
