Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna

Edric felt like crying. This wasn't at all how he'd imagined the duelling test go. He hadn't thought they'd be incredible powerful duellists or anything like that, but this match was now far beyond any kind of fun. Getting your ass handed to him hadn't been fun at all when his brothers had done to him when Edric had been younger, and it wasn't fun now when two Second Years were pushing them around.

The sickness didn't help of course, Edric being very much aware that him and Glen must make a really sorry picture, trying to duel while sniffing and coughing. Not that he cared about that anymore. Casting spells alone felt like an almost impossible task and he would have lied if he'd said that he was paying attention to what he was casting.

"Incendio (Duo)," he mumbled, pointing his wand at his favorite menace again.

Again, Edric and Glen tried to take down Luna Choi. And they were not messing around. Both of them launched a green jet of flame towards the pretty girl with an amazing level of concentration. Edric's flame came close and would have hit if his was not that full of snot. But alas, Luna was focused on evading the attacks that came at her and managed to step aside. Unfortunately for her, her luck had run dry. Dodging the last attack put her on a bad spot and Glen was ready for it. His powerful fire hit her squarely in the chest and exploded. She was thrown back a few meters and landed on her back.

Her chest, ribcage, and back was extremely sore, but more importantly her skin was stinging all over as it was burnt. And the problem did not stop there. Many parts of her robe was caught aflame and singing her even further. Koko was not idle during all this. She aimed her wand at Edric and flung a knockback jinx towards him. He easily dodged it, though, and was not much worse to wear. Looking at Luna, he very much wanted to stop her from fighting any longer and sent her to the hospital wing.

But the spark in her eyes still had not died, yet. Sigh.
Luna tries to dodge.
Koko casts the Knockback Jinx. Spell succeeds but misses.
Glen casts the Fire-Making Spell (Duo). Spell succeeds and hits.
Edric casts the Fire-Making Spell (Duo). Spell succeeds but misses.
Spell Effect of the Curse of the Bogies keeps going.
Luna Choi is on fire!

Koko hated how her wand would light up, but her aim would be off and she wouldn't land a hit. Or how sometimes her wand would light up and then fizzle out, or just not light up at all. She felt so stupid when that happened, and she knew it was due to her being younger... Right?

She felt slightly guilty as her gaze darted to the boys. Snivelling and coughing, she remembered that feeling vividly. She was glad that she wasn't feeling like that right now. In fact, she was probably feeling the best physically out of the four students currently duelling. Right when she was about to relax a little, a green light flashed and the other girl was knocked down, aflame. The breath was almost forced out of Koko in a scream. Was she going to be left up here to deal with two older - albeit sick - boys who would no doubt kick her ass?

Thankfully, she noticed Luna stirring. She hadn't passed out yet. Koko immediately felt less scared. She knew what she'd have to do, no matter how much she might regret it. No matter how much it might hurt Fridge. It would prolong the violet-haired Slytherin's pain, but Koko's decision would also prolong Luna's state of consciousness. "Extinguo!" she yelled, putting force into the words as she changed her aim to - hopefully - make the spell land right on someone who she considered an enemy, but one she wanted to save.

Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna
Alright. Luna was on fire. Good. That meant she would hopefully go down soon, she looked kinda ready to keel over – just like he felt. Poor Luna. He did feel bad for her, but they had all signed up for this duel, right? They had all signed up to potentially get their backsides handed to them – the only one that still seemed alright to him was Koko. Maybe it was time to turn his attention to her – after all, Luna was on fire now. (He wasn't even sure which of their spells hit her, Edric or his.)

Right. Yes. Okay. He could do this, right? What to do... Luna was aflame, so there was little point in aiming another fire spell at her, right? And that seemed his best spell.. or was it his worst? He couldn't really tell anymore, his head was pounding to hard from all the sneezing and his clogged up nose. Breathing was getting kind of difficult.

So, okay, blinking through his eyes tearing up, and trying to ignore his dizziness, he would aim at Koko instead. Stick to what he cast best, right? (At least he hoped that's what he was doing.)

When the spell was about to hit her, she saw everything was moving s l o w l y. However, for some reason, she couldn't dodge. Her body just didn't listen to her, maybe because normally she didn't run around much, or maybe because she just couldn't.

The lavender haired girl bit her lips while hugging herself. It hurt. It hurt so bad, that she wanted to scream out loud.

But she would never do it.

If she did it, it wouldn't do anything but to make her feel more tired and lose strength.

This was not the end yet. She could continue, maybe will faint soon, but now, she knew standing up wouldn't be much of a problem to her.

Luna slowly stood up and looked straight into the brown-haired guy's eyes. She knew that she would faint very soon, if it wasn't because of the fire, it would be someone else attacking her. If it was so, instead of wasting time to heal herself, she would use all her last strength to defeat her opponent or at least...

To help Riddle with surviving by herself.

"Incendio."

Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna
Glen had hit her! For at least Edric thought that he'd done so. Truth be told it was hard to see much with two fire spells cast at the same time, especially with his puffy eyes. It didn't matter much in the end, he supposed. Their goal at been the same and now scary girl's robes were on fire. Good, a part of him thought, the part that was hurt and miserable and enjoyed seeing their opponent being miserable too just a little bit.

"Flipendo!" He followed his friend's example and continued with another offensive spell, knowing that sitting around and waiting for a better chance was useless now. This was their best chance.

The battle suddenly took a dramatic turn. Luna was on fire and with all the injuries that had built up throughout the whole fight, she could not take it anymore. In the last stand of her deviance, instead of trying to extinguish the flame on her, she threw a spell of her own towards Edric. A green jet of flame spew out, but it never reached him. The Slytherin boy threw a knockback jinx of his own at her, but it also missed.

Koko tried to save her teammate with a fire-extinguishing spell, but it fell short. The spell did nothing to the fire and Luna was left on fire. Using the lapse of concentration, Glen aimed at Koko with another fire-making spell. Her natural charm did not work on him this time. Thankfully, this green jet of flame also missed its target.

"Extinguo," chanted Arc, making a curly W shape with his wand. With her being fainted, Luna was out of the fight. And the young Ravenclaw finally could -and had to- help, else she turned for the worse. The glittery, gray mist spewed out and smothered the fire. Before long, Luna was no longer of fire. Nevertheless, Koko was alone now. It was two against one.

Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna

Seeing the multiple flashes of light from all four wands was the first factor of Koko's dropping hopes. It was difficult to see where the spells were headed, but as Koko could see one coming straight towards her, she had tried to evade while casting a spell. That may have thrown off her aim; she couldn't be sure. What did matter, though, was that Luna had collapsed. Even though Koko may not have particularly liked the girl, it had been somewhat reassuring to know that there was another person behind her. She was alone now.

If only Koko could keep this going for just a little while longer. She just needed to not get hit, it was that simple. It no longer mattered if she were wishing to take the offensive side or the defensive side, for she only had one option in her eyes: defence. It was of the essence that she remained trying to stay alive; that was the only thing that would grant her victory. In the Slytherin's eyes, it was not the journey that mattered, but it was the end that was the most important. If there was one thing that she had, it was an instinct of self-preservation. She would have to use it. "Fumos," she hissed, swirling her wand. The blonde-haired girl had an expression conveying worry, conveying fear, but also determination. Fear wouldn't stop her from trying.

Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna
YES! Luna was down, so at least they managed to down one of the girls. It didn't change the fact that they had no chance of winning, not with both of them sick – unless they thought of a spell that would knock Koko out completely in one hit... but those spells were taught in higher years... weren't they? He would have thought an Incendio, let alone the Duo, would do more damage... but that might just be that they kept missing, right?

Whoa. Glen staggered, feeling really dizzy now from his clogged nose. He needed more Oxy-something in his brain, what was it called again? Eh, air. Glancing at Edric to check on his buddy (were they buddies? He didn't know. Buddies was a weird word anyway. Why was that a word even?) he was worried to see Edric look somewhat like a dry drowned rat... He blinked. That didn't even make sense? Ugh.

ACHOO!! ouch, that was a loud one and it made his head spin badly. Crap. What was he supposed to do again? Oh right, Luna down, hexing Koko. (Right?) Waving his wand toward Koko, more praying than aiming to hit at this point (and he wasn't even religious) he yelled: "In – ACHOOO. !" After sneezing, he tried again: "Incendio!" Wait! That was the wrong spell wasn't it? He'd wanted to cast the stronger version... didn't he? Whelp. Too late.

Slytherin Match 1 Edric & Glen vs. Koko & Luna
They had done it! They had knocked out one of the scary girls! At this point Edric couldn't even tell them apart anymore, with his swollen eyes and all. The smoke would only make it worse. He couldn't see straight, much less aim at anything effectively – he could very well miss a person a few feet away in these conditions.

Glen didn't sound good. All that coughing and wheezing surely wasn't healthy. Edric would have done something to make him feel better, but he didn't know any spell that could lessen the effects of the Curse of the Bogies, unfortunately. He should have paid more attention in Charms, the professor must have taught them something that would have helped in that class.

As it was his only choice in this situation was attack. Maybe one of his wayward spells would actually hit the Second Year Slytherin. "Icendio (Duo)," he whispered, his voice rough from coughing.
