Was this girl incredibly stupid, or was she smart. Kaegen continued to stare at her face, trying to discern the difference between the two. What did a smart person look like? What did their eyes do, did they have a facial tick he could try to recognize or some sort of bizarre equivalent? Why was it not easier to tell the difference, why was it not easier to come to a decision?
"You would think that you deserved it, even though it would be you getting hurt? You dying?"
He fell silent after that, listening for long enough to make a decent attempt at understanding what she was trying to say. Clearly, she did not like to learn from the mistakes of others. This girl, Kaegen decided, simply didn't care. She didn't care about people because if she did she would care that he had hurt so many. She didn't care unless it affected her, which implied that she was extraordinarily self-centered. That was two somethings that made sense, that he could empathize with.
She only cared about treating others how they treated her? That didn't seem very human. Humans, who cared about what someone said about someone else to someone else and how. Humans, who cared what kids said on the other end of the great hall about things that didn't even concern them. This sometimes led to fights, to screaming and crying. He'd seen it plenty to know what it was. And this girl didn't feel that, any of that?
"What sort of a creature are you? You who act as a mirror but not a telescope. You're clearly not a person. So what, then."
A teensy tiny little thought began to worm it's way inside Kaegen's mind. Two little words that carried enough weight to shift the little ravenclaw's entire world. Was she a...

“If I had approached you in any way to try and harm you I would deserve whatever self-defense tactic you wished to use. The same would be true the other way around. If you come at me and I choose to defend myself you would deserve whatever it is I did.” Killing someone would no doubt be considered excessive force but when it came down to it if you are defending your life there is no such thing as excessive.
He did not tell her to leave and this surprised her quite a bit. She had expected him to tell her to stop her prattling and leave him alone. If he had done so she very legitimately would have left and would have left him alone. Then he asked her what she was and she giggled at the thought of anyone especially someone like him thinking that she was anything other than a human. “I’m just a regular human. A human girl with a talent for healing and a passion for potioneering.” She looked at him and bit her lower lip a falter in her self-confidence. This next sentence could most certainly change the outcome of the rest of this encounter.
Yet, she decided to say it anyway. “Though, I don’t think the same could be said for you.” This wasn’t a question and she did not expect him to tell her what he was, instead it was stated as a mere observation. She banked it off of his eyes granted everything else about him really did scream look at me I’m not completely human, but if anything had sold it for her it was his eyes. They were the first thing she noticed about people and typically the one feature she clued into when it came to trying to figure people out. Body language was just fine and dandy, but there was always something telling about the eyes.

So she followed his laws, the rules he had grown up on? Or at least some of them, she didn't have it down entirely, but it was close. Close enough for him to be reasonably sure she wasn't a human. What human would know of the ways of beasts and monsters. What human would bother to learn something they all seemed to view as barbaric and terrifying?
No. She was entirely to understanding to be normal, or human, or anything that didn't have some sort of a hidden agenda. No one stopped to listen, no one actually understood why he did what he did. Even his friend, soap-eris had at one time looked at him as something terrifying to behold. No, he would not forget those eyes, and he would not forget what he had learned. His world was set apart from the world of the other students, there was a border one simply did not cross.
And yet, this girl went on to claim that she was indeed a normal, average human girl. Ridiculous. Kaegen took a small step back, mistrust slowly writing itself across his face. This wasn't right, it was an unacceptable contradiction of everything he had learned of the humans.
"Liar."
It wasn't accusatory. Aside from his narrowing stare, and the small step backwards, Kaegen remained very much neutral. His hands hung once more at his side, and the tips of his fingers could be seen dangling loosely. It was a quiet statement, a single word uttered with a raspy, hoarse voice that reminded some a bit of a pile of rustling, crackling leaves.
"I'm no human. I'm a monster, the monster of hogwarts halls. I'm a monster, and I live."

…Liar…
Her eyes narrowed into a glare and her brows furrowed slightly as she watched him. Her arms crossed over her body closing herself off and her jaw clenched. If there was one thing, she hated more than anything else in this world it was a liar. This made her a bit of a hypocrite because she would lie if she needed to, and the need was deemed by her. However, she would not stand for being called a liar when she wasn’t even lying! “Kaegen Deathmote, don’t you dare to presume to know anything about me.” Formal speech with an Irish accent playing with her silvery voice. This combined with her closed up body language was a surefire sign she was starting to get angry.
“Call yourself whatever you want, but there is more to you than anyone else cares to see. I’m sure you can figure out how to find me if you ever decide you want to show more of the real you. The you that you hide under this armor to protect yourself. I have no intent to hurt you nor would I want to. You’re interesting and I made the snap judgment to try and get to know you. Maybe next time.” She slowly reached up and pulled the dark hunter green scarf off of her shoulders and set it neatly on the ground.
“Goodbye for now, with a peace offering, Kaegen Deathmote.” She said it calmly almost as if she was sad about the goodbye refusing to call him anything but his name. She didn’t care about the scarf, but she was a bit disappointed in how this conversation had gone. As she turned her back on him to walk away she wondered if he would accept her peace offering or leave it lying on the ground. Either way, she would probably just start wearing Kyle’s scarf out and about. She would probably get some looks for being a Slytherin wearing a Gryffindor scarf, but she didn’t care.

Don't dare? Don't dare to presume anything about her? A surging pool of bubbling hate and anger screamed why not, and a moment later, even his curious, happier side joined in. Why not, why should he not dare? She had lied and he had called her out on it. He knew humans, and she wasn't one of them. She certainly wasn't normal, to even suggest otherwise was entirely ludicrous.
"Or what."
He was right, he was speaking the truth and she was mad about it. She was telling him he shouldn't dare presume to know anything about her, even though he very clearly did know about her. More about her than she wanted him to know, clearly. And he was very clearly not thrilled about the threat. The bright red rings around his pupils flared up like two simmering eclipses, matching her glare, although his arms stayed by his sides.
"No. This is all there is."
She left him a peace offering, which he was fine with. She hadn't attacked him, had clearly seen that she was wrong and then left him a scarf in return. He could accept that as a valid apology, at least enough of one to dull some of his broiling hatred. His spidery, clawed hand reached down, and picked up the scarf. He watched her walk away until she was around the corner before turning and leaving the other way.
He didn't understand a thing about her, and most of what she had said had been entirely wrong. Still, she probably wasn't lying about everything.
