Graci didn't know it was a birthday party! If she had she would've brought a gift, or at the very least made a card.
"Oh! Happy birthday! Sorry I didn't bring a card or anything." Graci smiled at the girls, unreasonably happy. Like, slap happy for no reason. Maybe it was the fact that the sun was actually out. Or the fact that she was surrounded by kind people.
She plopped onto the ground, playing with the grass and stopping herself from pulling it out. Be kind to the earth Graci, it never did anything to you.
Graci waved back at the other Gryffindor girl. "Nice to meet you too."
She watched as the other two Slytherin girls splashed sound in the water, and her brain got taken back to another shore. But the ocean this time. Her mom splashing her with water. Graci giggling the whole time, watching the fish swim by with wonder.
Those were the days, those were the days. I really miss mum. I hope I can remember to write to her one of these days. She's probably wondering if I forgot about her. Dad, too. Eesh, all of them most likely. But soon, soon school will be over and I can see them all summer.
