Finished PV Errand Gardening for two

Walks with Mylo were always pleasant—and useful. After all, as boring and un-fun as Mylo could be, there was no denying they were very knowledgable. After all, there was a reason she had enlisted them as her duelling coach.

And the timing—and the weather—would not be better. Spring duels were coming up and after the hellscape that was her winter duel—even though she was proud of her performance—she knew she needed an opportunity to discuss strategy. After all, there had to be a way not to end up as a fried raven sandwich in front of three Hufflepuff second years all by herself.

So, she did her very best to pepper Mylo with any and every question she could think of as they came out onto the grounds. And now with one duel under her belt, she felt like she could ask better, more specific questions: what do you do when you're all alone and clearly outmatched? What behavior gives away what you might do next? How can you tell what they'll do next? And how do you prepare for the worst?

But out on the grounds, it seemed like others were involved in anything but strategy. In fact, it was fairly serene out here. And that's when Mylo spied a distraction from her barrage of questions: gardening. "Hey, do you maybe want to go and plant some seeds?" they'd asked. Maisie squinted for a moment, taking in the scene. The truth was she was a city girl; her interactions with plant life in any real way was limited. But Mylo and the instructor would be there so she deduced it would be pretty harmless an activity. "Okay," she told them as she began to walk in that direction.

There was a pause as she ran her tongue along the top of her mouth, thinking about what she hadn't yet asked Mylo concerning strategy. Surely, there were plenty of questions yet. But there was something else that struck her about this whole seed activity: "This is what responsible people do outside, isn't it?" Though she meant it seriously, there was also a playfulness to her tone. As much as she and Avis wanted the prefect to lighten up, there was something about their grown-up vibe that was strangely endearing. Perhaps that was what drew her to them; Mylo was just so different—kind and thoughtful—from anyone else in the school.

So, she'd reach for a pack of seeds and try to be—a little—responsible for once.

Mylo was glad that she agreed to plant the seeds with them, although it was accompanied by what they picked up as being a playful comment about being responsible. It seemed like this would be something that would follow him for a while, although planting seeds could indeed be seen as responsible.

"Well it would depend on what intentions you have when planting the seeds and what seeds your planting, some seeds can be invasive species and that's not very responsible to be planting those. Also if you plant stuff with the intention to annoy people that's not very responsible." Mylo said grabbing a packet of seeds themselves. They knew the comment would likely get them a reaction but they also hoped the playfulness they were attempting to add to it would come across properly.

As Mylo had never planted seeds before they made sure to ask the professor if there was anything they needed to keep in mind while planting them, and after having gotten the necessary information he started to look for a good place to plant them.

Spotting a nice empty spot surrounded by a few trees Mylo pointed it out to Maisie. "That seems like a nice spot to plant some of them, what do you think?"

"Depend(s) on what intentions you have when planting the seeds...."

Man, Mylo could be boring when they really wanted to. That was until they got the part about annoying people. "What kind of plant annoys people?" she asked curiously. Mandrakes screamed she knew, but that seemed like a whole other level of annoying. Maybe there was something harmless and kinda cute? Something that could make responsible people fun?

She watched as Mylo seemed to gather all the instructions—they were good at that, part of being responsible—before following them over to a tree. "Sure, seems fine," she said with a shrug. A city native, Maisie really didn't have any idea what made a good spot for new plants to grow—other than something that wasn't paved over with a road. But this seemed to have enough sun as it shifted through the tree's leaves.

So, she took one of the trowels and started to make a little hole in the ground for their seeds. "What kind of seeds are these again?" she asked. They'd gone over quite a few plants in herbology and it was easy enough in lessons, but it felt different to try to identify them out in the wild as it were. Ah, well.

"Well, there's of course any plants that cause bodily harm like stinging nettles or poison ivy. Then there's plants that just shed a lot, that can annoy people who like to keep their gardens tidy. Also any plants that attract animals that you wouldn't want to actually attract, unlike for example flowers bees and butterflies, that can be a nuisance. There's a lot of ways to annoy people with plants but it depends on how you want to annoy them." He answered, not sure if the earlier playfulness had come across properly or not, but having expected the question about the annoying plants.

As Maisie agreed on the spot he had pointed at Mylo made their way over there, grabbing one of the trowels as well and started making holes alongside Maisie, making sure to keep the instructions they had gotten from the professor at the forefront of their mind.

As she asked the question about what seeds they were actually planting Mylo realised that was the one thing they had forgotten to ask, and as they had never planted seeds before they weren't well versed in the art of identifying them.

"I'm not actually sure, I think they're likely just to be flowers or grass type plants? I forgot to ask. But I guess we can go and ask once we've finished planting them or we could wait and see what springs up once they start growing." He shrugged, kind of enjoying the mystery of what could possibly appear in a short while. Although they supposed they could likely find the answer either way if they did some proper research with the knowledge they had on how to plant them and what the seeds themselves looked like. But where was the fun in that?

Seeing as he had planted all of his seeds he looked at the now disturbed ground, curious as to what they would see here in a few weeks time as they would often go on walks around this area.
