Sunday 4th of May, 2025

The end of the academic year was fast approaching and before the students of Hogwarts faced their final exams, they would be given a treat in the form of the final stage of the duelling championship. With summer around the corner and warmer weather allowing for the grounds to be enjoyed without fear of frostbite, some may have expected the crowd in the duelling club to be sparse. They would be about as far from the truth as they could get as the stands were packed on the weekend of the matches. Spectators were anxious, thrilled, and impatient to witness the outcome of the tournament.

Since the end of the last stage, Gryffindor found themselves in an unfamiliar position - at the top. While the levels of triumph of the other houses fluctuated between the stages, the lions had stayed consistent. Red was quite popular in the stands as fellow housemates of the Gryffindor teams packed in to see if their duellists could take the whole championship. But the rest weren’t losing the color war. The badgers and snakes waved their house-themed items in hopes that their teams could recreate the outcomes of their most successful stage while the Ravenclaws were craving for a blowout.

Anyone walking into the duelling club would first be greeted by a table set up near the entrance. Spectators could find free pamphlets and rule books laid there for them to take back to their dorms. With the seventh years graduating in a few short months, recruitment efforts were at an all-time high and the captains were excited to introduce the sport to a new crop of interested students. Plastered on the wall next to the table was a schedule listing all the participating duellists and their moderators. Moving past that, latecomers would meet the chaos of the crowded stands as matches were just about to begin on the two pistes running down the length of the club room. Soon enough, it was time to see which house would come out on top.

Normally, Raizel would be supporting her team as one of their Captains. She still could. After all, the match between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw is still ongoing but her attention wasn't on them this time. It was in a match where Ravenclaw and Slytherin were facing off against each other. She has a good reason, at least… in her mind it seemed like a good reason and that was to support one of her friends in their first ever official duelling match.

Dennis Tumberton, a boy she met one day while she was on her way to practice her flying. With that kind of meeting, she assumed he would be trying out for broom sports but instead… he showed interest in duelling. She thought it was a one time thing, back when the Ravenclaw decided to join the duelling game that Atlas Anderson hosted before. When she heard that he made it to the main duelling roster for the House Ravenclaw, she was surprised and maybe a bit proud even though she wasn't his duelling captain.

And that is why she had made her way to the duelling club, finding a spot where she could watch the duel quietly. “He’s against Prat.” She uttered, recalling the Slytherin Prefect who had joined her in their venture into the Forbidden Forest. Yes, you heard that right. The two of them, despite being Prefects, decide to break one of the school rules and that's to never enter the Forbidden Forest. They still did. Now, the Slytherin boy is someone that Raizel can consider as a friend too. She's just gonna cheer for them both, silently.

Meyra remembered the first time she had the chance to find herself wearing her team's colours on a match, and besides how things ended up, she could not be more grateful for all the support she had felt from her friends that kept cheering for her. Even when she was having a game against their own team! So she couldn't be walking anywhere other than the Dueling Club, where Denners would have his first duel. Specially now, that they have become a little more than friends. Thinking about it, even after the Easter holidays, made her cheeks feel warmer, with a shy blushing colour.

She decided that for an hour she would be the most enthusiastic Ravenclaw on the bench, because between her and herself, she was sure that no one would root for the blue team with more heart than she did. So, to match her spirit, she was wearing Dennis' Ravenclaw scarf over a simple white t-shirt. He had given that to her for good luck in his match, and how could have she said no to that? She would probably even keep it, she thought, with a smile tugging on her lips.

When she finally arrived to the spacious room, her eyes immediately caught her step-cousin that had arrived first than her. Meyra walked through the seats until she was in the one next to Raizel. "Hi!" She greeted her friend with a warm smile, before looking at the teams that were about to face each other. Her eyes caught sight of her favourite redhead and her smile became brighter, "You got this Denners!" She yelled at him, waving her hand so he could spot her among everyone who was there to show support for their friends and housemates.

"Prat?" She quietly asked back to Rai, the name was not entirely unfamiliar to her but she couldn't remember exactly from where she had hear that name. Until she looked closer at the Slytherin team and the memory of the mysterious murder game flashed in her mind. "Ah, right!" She muttered to herself, "Is he also a friend of yours?" She asked Raizel with curiosity.

The thought came to him on a random Sunday morning, all while clad in his sleepwear and last minute homework sitting in his lap. He couldn't exactly explain why, but perhaps it was the result of his mind wandering out of disinterest, using the DADA assignment as a springboard for more fascinating ideas. It eventually manifested as someone taking on the role of a spell-slinger, an unstoppable force utilizing the very same techniques he was still in the process of learning.

Usually, the main figure would take on the visage of himself, because why would it not? He had loads of potential, is what he often told himself. Surely he could be someone cool like that. But for some reason, it wasn't him.

Instead, it was an incredibly familiar face, one that he became acquainted with through close interaction and in passing... Even if the "in passing" consisted of threats referencing her supposed dueling prowess, done anytime he dared to even say "Hi." Okay, maybe he did a little more than that. Okay, maybe he outright called to her earlier in the month, shouting something about her being his favorite Wicked Witch of the West. And perhaps she understandably called his right to living into question. Whatever.

Regardless, Queenie had no reason to interfere with his daydreaming. It didn't matter how amazing she was with dueling—it was still his brain at the end of the day. She needed to stay out.

... Was she even really that good, though?

Aodhan played around with the thought, easily recalling that matches were indeed happening this weekend. So, couldn't he stop by? Make sure the girl was keeping her money where her mouth was? Unsurprisingly, he took mere moments to finalize his decision. Anything was better than homework he could finish later, after all.

He also ignored the faint feeling of déjà vu upon checking just how late it was.

─────────────────────────────────────────────────

Five minutes. He'd gotten cleaned up, dressed, and sprinted over with roughly five minutes to spare. Although he was most definitely legendary for doing so, the youth was mildly annoyed. Now he was forced to wait, and that was the worst. As a result, he could be seen grumbling while taking a front row seat.

However, time passed quickly in spite of his mental complaints, especially when he noticed who was participating in the match.

Really? Queenie and Meiyu on the same team? At the same time?

Visions of fire consuming the arena with maniacal laughter in the background entered his psyche, causing a shiver to run through his body. Whoever decided upon this grouping must have absolutely despised the other houses, a suspicion that quickly became a deep-rooted belief just seconds into the competition. A blindfold and someone instantly getting knocked to the ground... Not to mention a triple assault launched towards the freshly handicapped Ravenclaw... Gryffindor was a bit scary.

But this brutality seemed to be working wonderfully towards their victory, and Aodhan was a bit tired of seeing his house lose. So, the blonde rose from his seat to cheer loud and obnoxiously.

"YO, HIT THEM HARDER THAN THAT! C'MON!" he exclaimed, cupping his hands around his mouth, "YOU GOT THIS, MEIYU! OR MAYBE IT'S MEI-BELLINE! QUEENIE... PRETEND THEY SMUDGED YOUR LIPSTICK, OR SOMETHING!"

He was sure that even if it didn't motivate them positively, at least Queenie's annoyance would be enough motivation negatively. She'd get so bothered that she would unconsciously put more magic power behind her attacks, and ultimately, such an outcome meant he was doing his job perfectly!

Match 7

There was something strange about watching another match before your own. If she'd had the choice, she'd much rather go first. Otherwise, it was like watching your own demise (or victory) and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it.

And yet, she absolutely had to come and see Mylo, her coach. Hopefully, they'd have better luck this time. After Mylo and Jessamine seemed to work well together last time, and Maisie knew from sharing the piste with her that Yougle was powerful. Plus, two second years was an advantage—their spell list had pummelled Maisie's team the last time and likely would again in but a few hours.

But this did not go well. In fact, it went very, very badly very, very quickly. In a manner of seconds, Mylo had been struck to the ground with the full force of a deep spell while Jessamine was blindfolded. Maisie winced. But it wasn't over. Jessamine was attacked by three casts of Flipendo and these same magic missiles struck Mylo not long after. The two of them looked on the brink.

...and Yougle just stood there. Whatever fear or distraction was in her mind was clearly not helping. But as Alyssea clapped, it was clear if Ravenclaw had nothing else, there was a resilience in the two captains. As the worry piled on her face and a Gryffindor in the stands cheered the lions on, Maisie cupped her hands to her face and called, "DON'T GIVE UP, MYLO. AND JESS TOO. DON'T RUN AWAY." There was a pause where she considered adding on something like 'it will be okay,' but she knew it probably wouldn't be.

But Mylo had taught her so much. Maybe it was about time she taught them something too: you don't back away from a fight, but with grit and creative thinking, you face it.

A familiar voice made Raizel turn her head, the figure of her step-cousin coming into view. Did she come here to support Dennis as well? Of course she did, it would be more surprising if she didn't consider how close they were, too close to be in fact. Weren't they just being so awkward with each other during the ball? She wouldn't blame them, not with what happened between them. The dance, the staring, the kiss. But looking at Meyra now, and her recent observations… it's like that didn't happen.

Raizel didn't let the thought linger. It was their business, not hers and it's not like her to butt into someone else's. Good for them really. She’d rather see them going back to the normal way of treating each other than watching them stare at each other with longingness in their eyes. If she were to be honest, they should just date already. Wouldn't that make her like a third wheel in their friendship though? That's where her train of thought wandered off. Not like there was a need to do a lot of thinking. She already knows what to do if that was the case. Not a good solution, she's sure they will hate her for the decision that she’ll make once she crosses that bridge.

“Yeah, he’s my friend.” Raizel wanted to prevent another rumor so she answered her with a straight face this time unlike when Meyra caught her off guard when she asked about what she was doing in the hospital wing. She probably had gotten ahead of herself. Does Prat even consider her as a friend? For all she knows, they were just two prefect who thought sneaking out and hanging out in the forbidden forest was a great idea. She doesn't know if Prat even considered her as a friend. She won't be surprised if he doesn't.

Morning Slot, Match 2

"I'm late!"

Sere Nade woke up in panic this morning. She got ready within a minute, wearing a white t-shirt covered with a brown cloth jacket and blue jeans; every first things she saw on the top her clothing pile. About yesterday, her duel went pretty well and ended up in victory, completing her second year record with a clean sweep. However, after that she forced herself to stick against her routine exercise and study at night, again, and because of that she was almost missed her senior's last duel right now.

Yup, today's schedule was to watch the second day of the Spring Games, specifically the last game for the seventh-year duellists of Gryffindor: Galton and Meenauh. Galton Lansdale, the lion had held the captain title since Sere first joined the team. She often asked Galton @Galton Lansdale about duelling things, casually when he was around. She really admired Galton's defensive strategies and learned a lot about that from the captain. Meenauh Silmataurea, Sere interacted less with the former captain, but she remembered clearly that her acceptance letter to the Gryffindor duelling team was sent by her. Sere admired Meenauh @Meenauh Silmataurea because of her dedication, not only to sports but to the whole House of Gryffindor as well.

Oh no! I'm super late! Sere ran to the spectator area when she saw the match had started. Firstly, her eyes caught Pyxis @Pyxis Hellebore who was moderating the duel. The British-Korean girl nodded in acknowledgement of the captain's ability to handle the situation on the piste as if nothing had happened to him yesterday. She felt relieved because Pyxis seemed fine. Well, he could walk and talk, this meant he was fine. The benchmark of the word 'fine' was a little bit -or too- low for sports players in the Wizarding World, or at least for Sere herself.

Moving on to the duellists, Sere saw that Gryffindor was facing Ravenclaw in this match. The girl had never heard all the spells they threw to each other. That didn't matter. The most important thing for now was that the trio: Galton, Meenauh, and the sixth-year duellist named Evelynn, @Evelynn Decipio were still standing strong despite of some spell effects on them. "C'mon, hold that lead!" Sere muttered, fists clenched in her lap, eyes firing a fiery spirit.
