"No! Jasper! Come back here! You can't be just running rampant through the halls! You could get hurt!" Avery yelled out as she chased her little cat like a madman. Not even paying attention to where she was going.

Why in the world was she chasing him? What happened? Well, in order to find out time will be rewound to a half hour before.

Avery was minding her own business in the Common Room. She was just about to finish her homework in the Common Room when she heard something rustling. She looked up to find her cat, Jasper, messing with something nearby. She watched as he pounced at whatever he had found. She laughed and continued to work on her homework without giving a second thought about what he had actually gotten into.

After a few minutes, Avery had finally finished her last assignment for the day. She sighed in contentment as she put everything back into her bag. It was at that moment that she remembered Jasper was also in the room. He had been silent for awhile, so Avery was wondering what he had gotten himself into.

"Jasper?" She had called out to where she had last seen him.

No response. That was nothing like Jasper. That's when Avery became worried and walked over to where she had seen him. She let out a sigh of relief when she found him completely unarmed and attacking some kind of box that had been left there. She smiled and laughed again at how playful he was being, but she noticed something different. He wasn't his usual dark striped color. He was more gray. Avery gasped at the realization that he had gotten into something that resembled dirt or dust. Either way, he really needed a back. No amount of cleaning himself would make this mess all cleaned.

Avery began to reach for Jasper. She had decided to carry him to the Girl's Bathrooms, so he wouldn't make an even bigger mess in the corridors. Of course nothing went right. The second Jasper saw Avery reaching for him his eyes dilated. He was way too hyper. That's when chaos erupted. Jasper began his rampage to Avery's surprise with destroying the box he had just been toying with. Then, when the portrait opened to let in some unsuspecting Gryffindors, Jasper ran towards it.

"Jasper! No! Come back!" Avery yelled at him as she began her chase.

She zipped past some shocked Gryffindors with a quick, "Sorry!" Before turning her full attention to Jasper who she had just seem head towards the stairs. Not good. If he made it outside. . . Avery didn't want to think that far ahead. She had to get him. And fast.

She chased him as he ran down the stairs until he eventually turned for the second floor corridor. Avery sighed a sigh of relief that he hadn't decided to go outside on his rampage. Whatever he had eaten or inhaled, it had made him absolutely crazy.

Avery was losing energy fast. Jasper was fast even though he wasn't running at full speed yet. But the next moment was something she had least suspected. . .

Rafal wasn’t a cat person, even when they weren’t mauling him. To preface, it was shaping up to be an utterly uneventful day. Saturdays were for studying, at this one was no different. Typically, the Slytherin preferred the library for when he needed to focus, but he was feeling a bit whimsical this morning and decided to move things up to the second floor study room, if only for this one time.

It had actually turned out pretty well. What the place lacked in research material, it more than made up for in free parchment. Yes, it didn’t take much to impress Rafal, did it? Though it was rather curious how many of the few books the room held seemed to be the same one - about some girl who fell down a rabbit hole and into a strange land with talking caterpillars and mad hatters. Where he came from, hatters made hats, not hold tea parties.

It was rather late and Rafal had finished everything on his agenda, so he’d packed up his supplies and started his way back to the common room. As he walked with his satchel slung over his shoulder, one could almost detect a hint of a pep in his step. The academics portion of his Hogwarts life were heading along nicely, and who wouldn’t be invigorated by that? For a moment, it seemed like all in the world was good and right.

Jinx. As Rafal turned the corridor, a blur of black, brown and white immediately bombarded his line of sight, launching itself onto his person. Caught unawares, the boy squawked in shock and indignation, losing his footing and falling backwards onto the cold hard floor. There was a confusing moment where both of them were flailing around in a panic, with Rafal's assailant giving him a nasty slice across the cheek in the process.

Finally, Rafal managed to rip the furry little creature off himself, gripping it hard and as far away as he could manage. He frowned at the animal in his hands, face throbbing uncomfortably.

This was why he liked dogs.

Avery gasped as Jasper jumped onto a person she didn't recognize at first. It wasn't until the boy was holding her frozen cat by his scruff that she realized who it was. It was the exact same boy she had crashed into on the training pitch. Avery had completely forgotten since everything that was happening had weighed down hard on her. That's why chasing Jasper down corridors was what she least expected to be doing.

"Yikes. That's not a pretty scratch. Are you alright? Do you want me to take him? He's my cat if you couldn't tell already." Avery laughed nervously as she attempted to brighten the mood that she already new was rough. She felt bad for meeting the boy on not so great terms twice in a row. She really needed to get her act together. And soon.

She also didn't want to make an enemy out of him. He seemed nice, so why not try and make friends even though they had a rocky start? All Avery could hope was that the boy felt the same way. Even though he seemed pretty upset at the moment.

She slapped a hand over her face and rubbed it in as she waited for his response. She was really getting tired of everything going wrong in her life. When would she ever get a break?

Who could have guessed? The one responsible for Rafal's bodily injury is once more the same person - the Gryffindor girl from that unpleasant episode in the Quidditch Training pitch. Rafal had extracted himself from that situation as soon as he could, so it is reassuring that the girl had recovered and he did not leave her to get brain damage or die.

Though not overly reassuring, as now Rafal has ended up the unfortunate victim in another one of her little incidents. He sighs before handing the offending creature back to its owner. "Yeah, be my guest. Take him." Bracing a hand against the cold wood floor, he peers up at her irritably. Rafal likes to think that he is usually reasonably whimsical, but the timing in this case, is very much poorly chosen.

”And no, I’m very much not 'all right'." he says brusquely, but the Slytherin is very much past manners at this point. Why is it that every time he sees this girl, he ended up injured in some manner? "Control your wild animal or don’t keep one, it’s very simple! And this is the second time we’re meeting like this." Titling his head, Rafal adds testily, "What, are you trying to set a record or something?"

Avery wrapped her arms tightly around her cat. Making sure that he was safely secure in her arms and couldn't claw his way out of getting cleaned up. He was still dirty and Avery sighed. It looked as if he wasn't the only one that was going to need a good cleaning after this fiasco ended.

Avery stood there in shock at his response to her question. She hadn't expected this to happen and let alone didn't know how to answer. She didn't want to make her first enemy here, so she chose her words carefully. "Well, it seems that this cat of mine has decided to go on a wild streak. I think he got into catnip or something. It makes cats crazy, so yet again, I'm sorry. Also, I'm not at all trying to get a record. It's the opposite, actually. If you want, I could walk with you to the hopsital wing, or I can take my cat back to my house and leave you alone. Im good with either." Avery said as she let out a resigned sigh. Things weren't going great for her lately and she was exhausted because of it. She made a mental note to take a break later and go off somewhere to be alone.
