| Personality Overview |
Sergei is a guarded kid, born of years of struggling to form any bonds. Then, with the many foster parents he’s bounced between, he became guarded, socially isolating himself and often actively trying to escape his guardians. Quiet and almost hostile toward anyone who tried to get close to him, he only caused more distance between himself and his peers during his spotty years of education. He matured a tad quicker than most children during his struggles, or perhaps he merely shut away his childhood innocence to protect himself. With his antisocial behaviour, he’s often described as strange or even scary by kids his age. Quickly picking fights with people he incorrectly views as threats to his safety, some may describe him as hot-headed, but honestly, this is simply his defence mechanism.
He’s hypervigilant to an unhealthy degree, wary of every new face he meets, but while he often tried to skip classes, he instead preferred to merely study subjects on his own, where he could somewhat relax and allow himself to actually digest whatever subject he may be learning. Thanks to refusing to cooperate in class, though, he’s frequently seen as a delinquent, or even stupid, because clearly he doesn’t want to learn. This is, of course, a misconception; he does want to learn, he sees it as something vital to survival, in fact, but one can’t learn if they’re too busy watching their own back for dangers that may not even exist.
Below this antisocial and sometimes hostile behaviour, though, Sergei’s true feelings linger. What is that feeling is one may ask? It’s simple, fear. The kid feels unstable and unsafe almost 24/7, he has no solid foundation and, thus, nothing to grow from. He’s stuck in a situation that leaves him feeling isolated and estranged. Truly, he just desires stability, security, a place to process the mess in his head and build an identity beyond his struggles. Perhaps where the Muggle world failed, the Wizarding one will succeed…
Or maybe not, the wizarding world has its own flavour of struggles and failures itself after all.
=====
Relatives | Sergei has a biological mother who lives in Russia still, and an Aunt who’s part of the reason he and his brother, while in foster care, were immigrated to the UK and placed in the foster system there. Unfortunately, Sergei and his brother ended up separated due to most families refusing to take in siblings. Once Sergei’s magical incident occurred and he was moved to Wizarding foster care, their separation grew wider, leaving the boy feeling all the more alone. Thus, all of his biological relatives were taken from him.
Relationships | The person he was closest to was his brother; luckily, after first being put into foster care, they were able to stay together, their case workers trying their best to keep the siblings in the same household. As they got older, though, this became harder and harder, until finally they were forced to split. This left a very deep impact on Sergei, as it essentially ripped away the only constant in his life. One may say it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. After this event, his antisocial problems came into full effect, degrading his life bit by bit. To this day, he still wishes he could see his sibling at least one more time.

.:: Extras ::.
Speech | He speaks with a fairly noticeable Russian accent; he’s around a level 3 or 4 when it comes to English fluency. It was one subject he tried very hard to learn once he became eight and was told he was moving to the UK.
Luckily, he had been learning English since preschool, so he caught up to a decent level easily enough. Thanks to this, though, when he wishes to say something that he doesn’t want others to hear [such as profanity], he tends to slip into his birth language.
Habits | He keeps conversation short, and keeps people at arm’s length, when stressed he absently taps out a rhythm on his thigh or wand to stay focused. While he doesn’t talk much, he’s rather good at communicating his feelings in a conversation through expression alone.
Goals | To find security and stability in his life.
Fears | Forming bonds, bonds he may form being broken, betrayal, horses.
Likes | Cats, snakes, sketching, comfortable solitude, learning new things, art, astronomy, staying up late to stargaze, watching fire in a fireplace, his boundaries being respected, meeting another person who knows his birth language, when people try to learn his birth language.
Dislikes | Being touched in any way, being treated like an idiot, being misunderstood, attention, frogs, thinking about his past, the news, mirrors, uncomfortable clothing, being interrupted, overly-friendly people, nosy people, indecisiveness, quills.
Academics | Despite often being seen as a delinquent, Sergei is fairly intelligent, at least for his age. He’s studious, just not in public, and tries very hard to learn whatever subject he’s given. His only downfall is his immense reluctance to ask anyone for help. He’s also creatively intelligent, having studied how to draw and sketch to further his skill at his favourite hobby.
Strengths | Academics, Dexterity, Agility, Wit, and Resilience
Weaknesses | Social Skills, Empathy, Adaptability, and Forsight

.:: Past ::.
Sergei Voronin was born to a single mother, a muggle. His father was out of the picture, having ended up in prison. She struggled to support him and his brother in their early years, stress eating away at her until she was a shell of herself. By the time he was five, she couldn’t find a place for them to live, and after her sister’s insistence and intervention, he and his sibling were given up to foster care in 2017. That was the true beginning of the end when it came to his childhood. Bouncing between homes, their caseworkers tried their best to keep the siblings together, to sustain some iota of stability in their lives. But as tensions rose in Russia, this grew harder and harder until eventually they were forced to split apart into separate homes when Sergei was seven.
While he had already been seemingly struggling in school by then, it got worse after this event; he’d skip classes, insisting he could do his work at home, and even occasionally getting into scuffles with his classmates, causing his social bonds to deteriorate further. He refused to make any efforts to form bonds with the foster parents who tried to accept him, and those who didn’t try merely made his antisocial behaviour worse. As stability worsened both within and outside his life, his aunt stepped in once more. Perhaps she felt guilty, or perhaps she just felt morally obligated, but she demanded that he and his brother be sent to the UK, worried about what their futures might hold if they remained in their homeland. After much paperwork and many debates, they were to be transferred to the foster system there. This all happened while he was seven, and after his internal struggle with the matter, he made a decision. Studying English even more than he was already being taught at school. He stayed up many late nights trying to, at the very least, reach level 3 so he wouldn’t be even more estranged when he arrived in the new country.
By the end of the year, he was sent to England, his brother was set to be sent the following year. Naturally, this greatly impacted him, and not entirely in a positive way. Sure, life beyond his own situation was now stable, but that only relieved some stress. He was still bouncing between homes, his ‘delinquent’ behaviour mostly ruining any chance at being able to remain with a family long-term. More often than not, he tried his best to spend as little time as he could in these homes, feeling stifled and stressed the longer he lingered. Thus, he would often try to remain outside or even wander the streets, the latter becoming more common the more independent he became. He’d create ‘friends’ only to use them as excuses for his excursions, and if his guardians tried to keep him from them, he’d grow more and more hostile. This often resulted in the cycle starting again with a new family.
Despite his chaotic home life, there were two things the boy was serious about: his academics and his art. These were his escapes, his free time often consumed by the two activities. Such distractions felt like a safety blanket to him. Eventually, he turned eight, and his antisocial behaviour had gotten worse, but it had also gotten quieter. With this change, he was staying with families longer, most taking that as a good sign, but now that his mind was gradually processing his turbulent feelings better, he was merely keeping them locked away. This kept him out of trouble more, but that didn’t mean his struggle was gone.
A month later, he’d find his life uprooted once more. People came to his house, soon making their way to him. His guardians were nowhere in sight after greeting the strangers at the door. They claimed to be wizards, of course, he didn’t believe them, refusing to be taken away. Then they did it, they showed him magic, the lights at the tips of the cheesy-looking sticks they carried around suddenly glowing, and then forming a small ball of light. They said he would be able to do the very same trick one day. This was… utterly baffling to the boy, who wondered if he was having some sort of fever dream, after all, magic? Really? All his life, magic and wizards were just things that lived in fairy tales, in the collective fantasy of human knowledge. Now this view of the world was being shattered.He was eight when it happened. He had been wandering further from his foster home, trying to escape the pressure of remaining with people he viewed as strangers. The only thing his guardians demanded of him was that he keep his phone with him at all times on his excursions, and that he promised to stick with one of his ‘friends’. He did keep his phone with him, but he lied about staying with his ‘friend’. All he wanted was time alone. Then he bumped into someone, an older kid, maybe 17. They were with another kid around their age, and both had a look about them that meant no good. The one he bumped into pushed him, trying to intimidate him. He was scared, yes, but it merely became fuel for his irritation.
Muttering darkly at them in his mother tongue, only seemed to aggravate them as they threw accusations at him. Finally, he couldn’t keep a lid on his anger. Lashing out, he kicked one of them right where it hurts, and where he could reach. They keeled over, groaning in pain and throwing profanities at him. Their buddy slammed him against the wall, pulling a knife on him, saying they’d ‘put this brat in their place’. As he felt the bite of the blade, his fear turned into terror, fed by the unfamiliar pain. Something snapped inside him, and suddenly the sleeve of their sweater caught on fire. His attacker screamed, dropping him to the ground as he coughed and gasped for air. The commotion caught the attention of a few pedestrians, who rushed to the scene. After being pulled away while a few others tried to help put out the fire, Sergei felt no guilt in ratting them out, telling them that the teens had cut him. Once the fire was out, two men kept them restrained. Naturally, they were enraged that someone would harm a kid. The police were called, and they were taken away. After this, he was patched up by some paramedics and sent home with his guardians as who scolded and fussed over him, their words falling on deaf ears. The cut would scar, but luckily wouldn’t require stitches, instead having been glued shut on site. His guardians tried to comfort him, but he merely returned to his room, staying in it for the rest of the day, and for once not leaving the house for an entire week.
He was moved from the muggle foster care system into the wizarding equivalent. Nothing much changed, aside from his new, long-term foster parents now casually making dishes float and healing any minor cuts or bruises with bizarre potions. After he slowly and reluctantly adapted to yet another life-changing event, a new fascination slowly grew in his developing mind, one with magic and the supernatural. He caught himself up with what he should already know about the wizarding world, being tutored instead of remaining in school. As he turned ten, he had adjusted at least slightly better to his new life. Then, he got the letter for Hogwarts, and everything changed yet again.

.:: Sergei's Sketchbook ::.
Year 1. A sketch of a hag. On the back of the page, Sergei writes down a few musings, like how he doesn't think they're real. Or, if they're real, that it would mean the stories he heard of the Baba Yaga could also be real. The thought seems to unnerve him, the fact that his writing gradually gets messier the more he writes about that possibility means anything, that is.
Year 1/2. A drawing of a griffon, with a few scrawlings from Sergei questioning how it flies through the air with such a bizarre body. Alongside a few attempts at figuring out how to spell its name given how many variations of the spelling there is. It's seemingly unfinished, perhaps he got frustrated with its anatomy?
Year 2. A sketch of a sea serpent. Depicting it weaving through the ocean with a snarl etched into its features [despite them generally being passive creatures].==========
