Gryffindor vs. Slytherin - Spring 2025

QUIDDITCH - GRYFFINDOR vs SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2025
Date: Saturday, 17 May, 2025
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Weather: Warm and overcast with a light breeze
Moderator: @Aly Salinger
Link to Quidditch System: viewtopic.php?t=7504 (I strongly recommend everyone reads through this because of the new patch that was just released that changes a lot of things!)
What a wonderful day it was for the final Quidditch matches of the season. Warm but not too hot, overcast so not too bright, and just slightly breezy to avoid the staleness of still air or the whipping wind of a blustery afternoon - truly, they couldn't have charmed a more perfect day for sports if all twenty-two players had pulled out their wands for a joint Weather-Modifying Charm. Plus the commentator - new, perhaps, to the job, but certainly no less excited for her first game to shout. With any luck, the weather would be a harbinger of excellent sports-doing to come today.
The stands were quite full of students by this point, mostly in emerald and scarlet, though there were some stragglers left over from the morning match in golden sunshine yellow and deep night sky blue. After waving hello to some familiar faces in the stands, the commentator cast an ironically quiet Sonorus on her throat and turned to shout a thrilled hello to the equally thrilled fans gathered on the wooden bleachers.
"Hello all, and welcome to the actual final game of the year! It all comes down to this after the Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw match this morning - and let me tell you, that was certainly a match to remember!" For those who had perhaps missed the earthy badgers take on the flying ravens, the announcer's tone gave nothing away as to who had come out of that tumble victorious. "But now, welcome to theeee rivalry match of the 2024-2025 school year... you know them... you love them... perhaps you love to hate them... or perhaps you just like all the drama! It's... your very own... GRYFFINDOR versus SLYTHERIN!!!"
The commentator paused, a grin growing on her face, as the teams took the pitch. Fourteen players took to the skies, and a further eight went straight towards the bench, where they would no doubt participate today more than they had all semester due to some recent changes! As soon as the players had settled into their positions and seemed due to start, the announcer followed it up with one last pre-match announcement: "And before we get today's show on the road and battle it out for the rivalry match of the year, let's take a quick moment to applaud two of our seventh-year students: Slytherin's captain and co-captain, Dan Palmer and Koko Riddle! This will be their last match as Hogwarts students, so give them the love they deserve, no matter what colour is on your robes!" She paused for dramatic effect and to allow the cheers to populate the warm air, then continued. "All right, enough of that. Let's make them earn those cheers, shall we? Players, take your marks and... toss that Quaffle high!"
A note to all players: The word count minimum is 50 words. The next deadline to post and submit strategy is 120 hours from the time this is posted. You must include in your first post (and preferably all posts) any active abilities, your character's stats (without broom, you can also include the stats with broom but they must be clearly separated), and your character's chosen broom and its effects.

Gryffindor vs. Slytherin - Spring 2025

Date: Saturday, 17 May 2025
Time: 13:00
Location: Quidditch Stadium
· · ─────── · 𖢨 · ─────── · ·To prepare for the last game of her Hogwarts career, Koko had layered coat upon coat of extra-durable nail polish on each and every one of her nails, and she had put on two layers of lipstick to ensure she looked her best. She carefully combed her hair into a half-up, half-down style and went to meet her team, her trusty Oakshaft 79 in tow.
'Okay, everyone.' Koko would meet the gaze of all of her teammates. 'You're all going to do wonderfully today. I would say I don't care if we win or lose, but that would be a huge lie. But that's unimportant right now. We'll win. I don't even have to question it. Because each one of you is here.
'You are all so strong, so capable, some of the best people I've had the pleasure of knowing in this school. I...' Her voice trailed off, and she glanced upwards, suddenly glad her mascara was waterproof. She would not wipe at her eyes, but if anyone was close enough, they would be able to see unshed tears glinting in the afternoon light. 'Anyway. I'm going to miss all of you. But let's not think about this now. After we win this, I'd like to do one last thing together. Go out for a meal or something, on me.' With that, she would offer a small, genuine smile to her teammates. 'So what're we waiting for? Let's win this thing.'
She couldn't look at them any longer. If anyone wanted to talk to her, she would gladly speak with them (albeit perhaps with more tears in her eyes), but to save face, she quickly turned away and readied herself to kick off.· · ─────── · 𖢨 · ─────── · ·

Mod Info:Reducio
Stats: Abilities: Stamina: 20
Evasion: 10 (14)
Strength: 6 (10)
Wisdom: 7
Arc Power: 5
Accuracy: 24 Part-Veela Alluring: 10% of a Quaffle score attempt against a part-Veela Keeper failing; 10% auto-redirect chance as a potential target of blatching/bludgering.
ReducioAs a Keeper there is a chance that the attempt to score would fail if a user was attempting to score against a part-Veela Keeper. As a potential target of blatching or bludgers, there is a chance that if the target is a Veela that the attack will be redirected to one of the attacker's own team mates.
Evasive Maneuvers - 10% Auto-dodge
Part-Veela Scream: Potential AOE foul causing -1 accuracy and -1 evasion to up to five targets.
ReducioCan use their Scream but it would be considered a foul and they would be suffering a detention after.
Their scream can be disorienting (-1 accuracy and -1 evasion), requiring a full action to perform but does not require a wand. This can stack indefinitely and persist until the end of the encounter. This scream can target a single user or it can target up to five users (as an AOE attack).
Calming Presence - Allies (SLYTHERIN) have 10% chance of auto-success
Keeper's Catch - Will be specified in actions sent
Reducio10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is taking an action in the goal area.
If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may take one of the following three as a free action: hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice, pass the quaffle to a teammate who is taking a quaffle-related action, or attempt to score on the opponent. This must be declared by the Keeper if any of these free actions are to be utilized, for example:
Keeper: Block [& Pass to x if Keeper's Catch goes off] - the pass recipient must be taking a quaffle related action
Keeper: Starfish and Stick [& Attack x if Keeper's Catch goes off] - the action will be equivalent to a bludger action
Keeper: Block [& Score if Keeper's Catch goes off]
Part-Veela Temperamental: +3 to critical success range, +1 to critical fail range.
Reducio+3 to their critical success range (and a +1 chance to critically fail) an attack.
Broom:Oakshaft 79 - +4 to 2 stats - Oakshaft info:
ReducioIn the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).In the role of Keeper a critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice. A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.
Note: Critical failure and critical success chances can be expanded with certain abilities and skills. In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.Has an increased capacity. May carry 3 people. May attach a compass.

Banner credit to Erlea Bevensworth (Bea)!They/SheWith some semblance of confidence, Pax headed onto the pitch, head held high. Shooting a quick glance to the team in green, they turned to face their team. They had established a friendship with Koko, so of course they wanted her to end her time on a high point, but if it had to be against them... well they were going to do their best to give them a good fight about it at least.
"Ok team," they began, clapping their hands together to make sure everyone was paying attention. "I know that this is the last game for some members of Slytherin, and whilst we may want to give them a good send-off, I also want to show them what we're capable of. We can't let them win easy - if at all - so we're going to do our goddamn best out there, alright? Alright."
After letting Ethan say his piece, they smiled encouragingly, before getting in position. Hopefully, they could end this year on a positive note.ReducioStats:

Avery walked onto the pitch with her broom in hand only to see the stands slowly begin to fill. She was excited. Not only was this her first and last game of the year, but it was also a game against their biggest rivals. The Slytherins.
Avery took a deep breath as she made it over to her team captain. Scarlet robes flying in the light breeze. It was a beautiful day.
Even though she was the benched seeker for the game, she still couldn't wait to see how the game played out. She would help cheer her team to victory even if she didn't play anything the entire time.

Alliasta’s first match! Yes, yes, yes! Today was one of the most exciting days of her life! She was practically glowing with joy. Her broom was in her hand and she was wearing her Gryffindor Quidditch uniform! It was such a proud moment for her. Gryffindor was her home, and now she wanted to serve that home by winning the match. As she looked around, she saw the stands slowly filling with people. The atmosphere was perfect — she used to watch from the stands, but now she was right in the heart of the game. Before entering the match, she kissed Kaito for luck and shook hands with her friends. But she didn’t really think she needed luck. After all, no matter who won, it was a friendly match. 'Rivalry eternal, friendship forever' — that was her motto for the game!

"Victory is earned in the sky."

He went to this match with a heavier heart than usual. This would be the last time he flew alongside both of his captains at Hogwarts, and there was something bittersweet about that.
As Koko blinked towards the sky, Avery's tears streaked freely down his face. He sniffled and wiped the wetness onto his green sleeve, leaving a dark patch that spoke to his emotions.
"We won't let you down!" he hollered, raising a fist to the air before kicking off.

Nicholas nodded at his teammates as he prepared to sit on the bench. It still didn't entirely sit right with him that he was relegated to taking that spot, he had about a foot on half his team, and was convinced he outweighed them all by about ten kilos, but he relented. That was the way of things. The captain, Pax delivered something of a rousing speech, and he listened intently. No doubt they were capable, more capable than he had been as broom racing captain, but the speech was soft. Sending Slytherin off with a good send off? Not letting them win easy? The fifth year's eyes narrowed at that. His eyes cast from side to side, looking at the younger players whom would be taking to the air before him. There was no ill will, no truly, but he felt the need to add his voice to the captain's speech.
"Send them home fuckin' crying, yeah?" His Belfast brogue colouring every word he spoke, "They want to their captains to go home on a win? Screw 'em! We're the house of Godric Gryffindor! Make the whole god damn pride proud? Do you God damn hear me? Kill 'em."

The speech pax gave was one that would be worth listening to despite this Kora had let all background noise fade into a hum the only thing left was the voice in her head telling her not to mess this up for the team.
This was only her second match and well the first one had not gone so well. regardless of when everyone started pushing off the ground and heading to their positions that is when it hit her, the Slytherins are slightly intimidating well maybe more than slightly.
She pushed off glad to be back in the air.

Gryffindor vs. Slytherin - Spring 2025

Bench warming was admittedly one of the few things that Aamon Athanatos was confident he could do without fail. Bench warming did not require skill, nor courage, only just silence, stillness, and a complete absence of expectation besides showing up and perhaps having a warm ass. He met this criteria for once.Statistics:
Stamina 3 || Evasion - 7 || Strength - 4 || Wisdom - 5 || Arcane Power - 3 || Accuracy - 8

Aamon had not expected to be added to the Slytherin Quidditch team during his first year. Slytherin had an infamously long waitlist and like most things in this den of snakes, there was an intense competition for every position. Honestly, the Slytherin pre-teen was not even sure why he had signed up in the first place. Maybe it was that fleeting moment of impulsive bravery. Maybe it was because Nabi Park had mentioned she might try out too and he did not want to seem weak. Or maybe it was to outshine people like Matthew Campbell, a boy who came from trash and seemed intent on dragging everyone to the gutters with him.
Whatever the reason, standing now on the edges of the pitch, Aamon deeply regretted all of it.
The clash of bludgers rang out like war drums, iron on bone and broomstick alike. Aamon's mind panicked. When the game began, the snitch darted away, signaling the beginning of the game. Then came the search for the snitch, the scramble for the quaffle and the unholy violence being inflicted wizard on wizard. No one impresses anyone from a hospital bed, the first-year thought grimly as he imagined Nabi's resting disappointed face becoming slightly more disappointed. In his mind's eye he imagined himself being shattered by a bludger to the ribs, cracking him. He was significantly younger than the students on the pitch and a swelling sense of inadequacy rose from within him. Maybe Avis could take care of me, he desperately sought some silver lining.
Aamon's hand clenched tightly around the polished shaft of his absurdly expensive broom, a firebolt. The firebolt was "gift" from his father, Thaddeus Athanatos. “For when you finally become useful,” his father, the patriarch of the famed Athanatos family had said. While his father would never admit it, his family were lifelong fans of the sport. A fan he might have been, there was no faith in his father's words. Thaddeus' voice was clipped and amused, as if this gift was a mere indulgement of a toddler’s fantasy. The weight of the firebolt broomstick in Aamon’s hands now felt more like a threat or a taunt than a tool. His fingers trembled slightly as his fingertips traced the etched silver inlay of his hardwood shaft. Aamon tried to calm himself. Chill out, he thought. You’re not even flying yet. Breathe.
But breathing was hard and the fear clung to the Athanatos like fog.
The fear was consuming. It wasn't just fear of falling, it would not hurt long anyway if he fall. He did not have a great or terrible fear of pain. His fear was of being seen, of trying and failing to succeed in front of eyes that already expected too little or far too much. It was his reality. Half of the people that knew him expected him to fail, to bend beneath the weight of mist, and the other half expected nothing short of perfection. Aamon knew that he was wealthy. he knew that he had every advantage - the best tools, the greatest opportunities, a bloodline that had been refined over the centuries with a focus on power rather than purity. With all of these boons, how could he be anything less than successful? Less than the very best. But he was middling at best and he knew it. Knowledge of this made something shivel and bury itself deeper inside of him. He feared Nabi seeing him crash before he even got off the ground. Of Campbell smirking, unimpressed and confirmed in all his quiet cruelty. Of not being strong enough, fast enough, of not being ever enough.
The second-string Beater stole a glance at the exit. He did not have to fight, to fly, to even play. He could still run. He could just walk off and say he wasn’t feeling well, then disappear like a wisp of smoke and pretend none of this ever happened. But Aamon's feet didn’t move. Instead, the Slytherin stared out at the storm of motion and impact, and whispered out loud to himself, “Just try not to die.” His heart thudded as he said this weak mantra. It would have to be enough, even if he was not enough.
