CLOSED "Hello Friend. I Didn't See You There" PV: Kai Draxon

Kai was restless, so she made the simple decision of going for a walk. She grabbed her art journal and a pencil, running out into the courtyard. She took a deep breath. The wind brushed at her cheeks, tugging at the loose strands of her braid. She felt more at peace now that she was outside.

Stopping under a tree, she flipped open her art journal to the last drawing she had completed. It was an anatomically correct bleeding heart with an intricate dagger piercing it. Biting on her lip, Kai added a bit more shading to it before flipping to a new page. She stared thoughtfully at the blank paper, before looking up and studying the grounds.

Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice, singing. Tilting her head, she listened to the words. It was a lovely song, and the voice singing it was beautiful. She furrowed her brow, then she realized who it was. Nyx. The realization almost made her laugh. She had been thinking about her friend for a good part of the morning, and it was an odd coincidence that she just so happened to take a walk and stop right under the tree that Nyx had been sitting in.

Kai lifted her head, staring up at the other girl. She knew that Nyx Blackheart was an odd person, and an odd choice of friend from other perspectives, but she connected with the girl, like she had never connected with anyone. Kai was aware that the other girl had her demons, and some part of her nagged to share her own, but she was afraid to lose her one true friend in this school.

She listened for a little while longer, before saying, "Why hello there, my friend." She smiled her unique, devilish, slightly scary little grin.

I looked up from my drawing in surprise. A familiar voice called out to me, calling me friend. It can't be Mikey, I thought, he was off doing Ravenclaw things and what such. I looked down to see who or what had called out my name such a friendly and familiar manner. I started. It was the girl that I was think of before. The one who had captured my attention and interest that day in the common room. The one who gave me a dark cursed grin of her own. There was the object of my earlier thoughts, grinning at me like there was no tomorrow. A dark, misgiving grin. I gave her a sharp, sneaky grin of my own.
"Hello my friend," I started, jumping out of the tree and landing next to her. She looked surprised at how quickly I had jumped from the tree next to her. I had a catlike agility from my days with my father.
"I didn't see you there.
Would you like to sit in my tree?" I asked, giving her a mischievous grin. Here she was, in the flesh, moments after I was thinking about her. I admit that what I asked her was very strange. After all, who says “Would you like to sit in my tree?” Then again, anyone who was friend with me would know by now all my eccentricities and my oddities. I was an oddity and I admit, eccentric at best, just plain crazy at worst. But even then, my best could have been the worst for someone else. I was strange like that. She grinned at me again, after I had called her friend and said hello. I missed her dark, tiny grin. I gave her another smile. It was a smile like when a shark smells blood in the water. Dark, full of holes, and hungry. "Well? Are you coming up or not? I asked. I waited for her to answer. I watched as she opened her mouth, her decision made.

Kai felt an odd sense of relief and joy at the sound of her friend's voice, the sight of that dark grin, terrifying to most, but comforting to her. It was odd. She never felt this free to be herself around anyone, and then she met Nyx, and that all changed.

Kai was only mildly startled at Nyx's question. However, it wasn't that odd to her. She had found a home in nature, and had found herself in trees for half of her childhood. "I would love to join you in your tree."

Kai's void like, dark green eyes shone with delight at being able to actually have a good friendship with someone as odd as her. Though both were unusual, they had found a kindred spirit in each other. It was an odd feeling for the girl. Kai had always been an outcast, but now she wasn't alone, and it made her feel almost free. She just hoped that when Nyx learned of her demons she wouldn't leave.

She motioned to the tree. "Shall we?" Her smile appeared again. It concerned a lot of people when she smiled, full of dark secrets, mischief, and barely concealed blood lust. But it didn't scare Nyx, and that's all that mattered.
