The Hufflepuff Table 2019-2020

My apologies for not replying sooner. Was gone camping friday night - sunday afternoon and just got back
Mentions/Interactions: @Blu Evergreen, @Jack Warren & @Leah Isbell
Annie nodded excitedly as Jack, the black haired boy voiced his opinion about quiddich. "Ah you should totally try it out next year, getting past your first year can be tough with everything going on but soon everything turns into a breeze." She nodded in the direction of a different, more shy boy, Blu, as he speaks up.
What's it like here? Well coming from a half-blood family I guess it's kind of what I was told about but very more grand.." Annie paused and looked around, not sure if any of them were muggle born. If you don't come from a wiziarding family, yeah it looks a little out of the ordinary and might be scary, for anyone or everyone, but it's not that bad honestly."
After answering his question in a rather complicated way she turned her attention to the girl whom hadn't given Annie her name. "Ah well, quiddich isn't for everyone, certainly not my mum, she was a Ravenclaw when she attended and found just about every con or can go wrong situation in quiddich. Didn't stop me from joining now though hm?" Annie laughed as a smile spread onto her face. She was glad the first years were warming up to her, plus, the food was probably helping as well.

He smiled at her response understanding how she felt because just like her he wasn't from a wizarding family. his mother was a wizard but she didn't openly say so until a couple years ago. "it definitely is much grander than she ever said it would be"
After he'd spent a good amount of time stuffing his face he finally sat bat and sighed relief, now just sipping his drink slowly feeling full and happy. After plucking up a little courage he looked around and asked "so what classes is everyone looking forward too?" Thinking about what he said he question himself, potion class sounded like fun but so did defence against the dark arts... in the other hand after hearing about quidditch he started to think about how fun that might be and for a bit he was just stuck in his own little world imaging the classes and hoping the teachers weren't to strict but when working with magic he kind of imagined that you'd have to be pretty strict just in case anything went wrong, but hey you can dream right..
Reaching forward he tried to reach the jug of which he assumed was juice but someone had just moved it out of reach from his short arms "haha.. help?"

"I might try out, I don't know," Leah shrugged. After all, her siblings had said that the Quidditch matches were especially exciting.
She turned to Blu. "I'm looking forward to Charms. I'd love to just learn how to make things easier, you know? Though I wish we had art or something."
Wouldn't it be great to just have a lesson where they could draw or paint and relax? Yes, she answered herself. It really would.
Her plate empty, Leah reached out for some strawberry meringue with banana toppings and put some on her plate. As she was eating a sample, it suddenly struck her that these students must know her solely as the 'potato girl', which would get very awkward in the common room.
Swallowing her bite, she added, "By the way, my name's Leah Isbell - which you might know from the Sorting, but you know. Yeah. I'm a half blood too."
After her quick outburst, she took another bite. She watched in amusement as the meringue was slowly passed down the table as more people took some. In a minute, it was gone, the plate scraped clean.
"Who made this food? It's delicious!" she said, her voice slightly muffled by the food. "I literally want to hug them."

The Hufflepuff Table 2019-2020
Avery hesitantly looks around and takes a seat. He didn't know anyone, as he hadn't socialized much on the train, He eats a little bit, a grin spreading across his face. Holy crap this was amazing. Avery sighs softly, eating silently while looking around, drinking in as many details as he can, faces around the table, what kinds of foods there are, the amazing candles floating over head, lighting the large room. He pauses, thinking. Why was such a large roof required? Its a little daunting. Avery looks around. Anxiously wanting to socialize, but he can't bring up his guts, palms sweating a little and stomach churning, making Avery feel as if he's going to throw up. Avery twists his fingers together, half-hoping someone would talk to him.

Leah looked over at the newest boy to sit down and grinned. Aha!
She pushed the plate of potatoes over to him, knowing that it was easily one of the best dishes here, and gave him what she hoped was a friendly wave.
"Hey there, I'm Leah," she smiled. "How was your journey here?"
She knew she'd had a great trip. She'd made a whole friend on the way here! Everything was going just as she'd hoped. Had the boy she was addressing had the same level of success, or was he lonely?
She couldn't stand it if someone was lonely, and her new identity as a Hufflepuff just consolidated this.
"Have you tried the potatoes?" she added with a tiny wink. "I highly recommend them."
She really would be known as the potato girl at this rate, wouldn't she? Honestly, why couldn't she have mentioned something else, like the pie, or the sausages, or the mashed pota-?
Huh.
She picked up another cupcake and bit into it thoughtfully. When had she turned from a chocaholic to a... potatobessessor? Was that even a word?
She must be really tired to be having these weird thoughts. After this, she told herself, she'd go straight to the dorms and get some sleep.

Avery looks over. He hesitates. Would she understand if he replied in sign? He nibbles his lips a little and hesitantly and slowly signs "Hello." He takes a bite of the potatoes, giving a small smile. He pushes his hair back. He watches her reaction to his signing, praying to all gods that exist in the universe that she understands. It's unlikely, but worth a try, right?

The boy seemed to have waved at her, and he seemed pretty nervous, so Leah waved back enthusiastically. At least he was eating the potatoes, right?@Avery Evans I assumed that you're using the BSL sign, is that ok?
A flurry of owls swooped overhead and through the aisles, knocking over anyone who was standing up to leave. It seemed that, until the Sorting was over, she'd have to watch everyone get sorted. She wasn't complaining - she was just tired.
"Your name is Avery, right?" she asked. "I think that's what the professor said when you were sitting on the stool."
She'd only started listening once the others had quieted, but was thankful that she did. This short boy looked incredibly hesitant, and hadn't said a word. Maybe he didn't want to speak.
She took another bite of her cupcake, relishing the chocolate taste. How did everything here taste so delicious? Did the school employ extremely talented cooks or was this meal made by house elves? After all, she knew that house elves were known for their perfectly done work.
Looking back at the boy, she noted his appearance so she would be able to recognise him in the common room or in classes. All the more friends, she thought.

Amalia Hawthorn
Amalia walked over to the table. It appeared that she would be living with the people sitting here. It was odd, people she had never met, and yet they seemed so welcoming. So kind. Maybe it was true what they said. Perhaps this would truly become her second family.
She sat down at an empty seat. A lot of students were already here, and it was kind of nerve wracking. She did not like large groups. She quietly reached for the center of the table, grabbing herself a piece of meat and eating quietly. She offered a smile to the people around her, but didn't say much. What was there to say?
Had she been able to, she might have left for her dorm room already. But then again, it appeared that the owls above her head forbade that. So she sat, taking in all the faces around her. They appeared to be involved in conversations of their own, which pleased her. It was nice to see them seem so content. Even if she didn't really know them. This was her home now, and the people around her would count on her in the future. It was her job not to let them down.
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'”

The Hufflepuff Table 2019-2020
Robin almost skipped over to the Hufflepuff table. She was so excited to meet her housemates. She sat down in a chair and started looking at all the food in front of her. She was starving but couldn't decide what to eat first. She looked around the table making eye contact with some people and smiling. She just couldn't stop looking everywhere. Her mother told her the great hall was amazing but she never would've expected it to be this amazing. Robin knew she probably looked ridiculous but at that moment she couldn't care less. She was already thinking about the fun she was going to have here and the friends she was going to make. With her stomach growling, Robin decided it was enough staring time and more eating time. Robin reached over and put some meat on her plate as well as a bread roll. Robin started to eat feeling her hunger subside. She started thinking about her classes and her dorm. She almost jumped in her chair with this amazing exciting feeling. Robin tried to settle down, knowing that being overly excited may scare some people off but her mother always said to not be afraid of her emotions. Thinking of her family almost put a damper on Robin's mood. She did dearly miss her family but she knew that it was going to alright. She had a new family now. Her Hufflepuff family was surrounding her already. She could feel a connection with everyone at the table just by being sorted in the same house. She was going to enjoy it here. Robin just knew it.

Leah looked up at the two newcomers and beamed. More people for her to make friends with (and offer these potatoes to)!
She slid the plate over towards them discreetly, and gave them the friendliest face she could manage.
"Hi," she said. "Welcome to Hufflepuff! I mean, I technically just arrived this year too, but we could all do with some welcoming after that nerve-wracking Sorting, right?"
In the back of her mind, a voice hissed at her to stop talking and let them speak. That voice belonged to her far more soft-spoken brother. Well, I suppose I can't escape them even here, she thought jokingly, though she knew she might miss them soon.
In a huge flutter, the owls left, but Leah was worried they may return. Besides, now she had a job to do: make these new kids feel welcome! Even if they were only a few minutes newer than her, at least she'd had some discussions with people.
Hopefully, the quiet boy (Avery, wasn't it?) wouldn't mind her bringing new people into the conversation.
"So, did you guys expect to be in Hufflepuff?" she asked, before continuing her quest to finish her cupcake.
