─ Despite his young age, Milo has always felt the need to prove himself. This drive fuels his relentless work ethic and determination to achieve whatever goal he has committed to. He will do what it takes to show the world, and himself, that he is enough. He wears a mask to the outside world, determined not to show how much he cares and how much he can be hurt. After years of practice, the act got good. He is cool, capable, and confident. Or is that, just like his independence, all a part of the act?

No act is perfect, and neither is Milo’s. Every now and then, the mask slips. The wariness that is shown in these moments makes it clear he has been hurt deeply. He doesn’t let people in easily, so very few ever see this side of him. But those who do see how scared he really is. To be forgotten; to be left alone; to hurt.
To protect himself, he rarely does anything without a reason. He is not unkind, just careful. Nobody will call him impolite and he always shows respect to those around him. However, he does not help others because it is the right thing to do; he always considers what is in it for him. But when he deems it worthy, he will give it everything he’s got.

History "If you ask me to change; I don't know if I can" Reducio Being born after a short fling between his parents, Milo knows very little about his father. His mother had fallen for the mysterious European man, whom she had met while working at one of the local restaurants. Completely captivated by the strange man, Akiko had taken extra shits in the few weeks he had been around. There was something different about him. He wasn’t like the other foreigners she had met. With some effort, she managed to get to know him better and learn his name. Milo Sabo. Right after her shift had ended, she had tried to find his Facebook or any other form of contact. To her disappointment, it seemed like the man did not exist online at all. Even her efforts to get his phone number had been in vain. Originally taking this as a rejection, Milo’s mother was extremely surprised when his father asked her out on a date less than a week into his stay. After a few weeks of dating, the mysterious man had disappeared as suddenly as he had appeared. Hurt by this betrayal, Akiko tried to think as little as possible about the man that she had madly fallen in love with in such a short time. This strategy had worked well enough until she was holding a positive pregnancy test in her hand a few weeks later. With no way of contacting Milo Sabo, she could only hope the father of her child would return one day. Unaware of the existence of his son, Milo Sabo had returned to mainland Europe to continue his life there. With his return, he also returned to the magical world. Without being able to understand or pinpoint, Akiko had been attracted to the man’s magical abilities. It had given him something mystical, something that made him mysterious. Back home, he had returned to his job as an investigative journalist, which he had taken after years of being an auror. From a previous marriage with Louise Elliot, another pureblood witch, he had an adult daughter, Dusana Sabo. Years went by, and Milo never returned to Japan. In the meantime, back in Japan, Akiko struggled to raise her son as a single mother. While some of her friends had gotten around from the original shock that their friend was pregnant and alone, her parents did not show her the same support. Over the years, despite the continuous hope that Milo’s real dad would return, she started dating other men. Due to the many different men his mother dated over the years, Milo never had a stable father figure growing up, and the young boy developed attachment issues. He was always scared that once he started to like his mother’s new boyfriend, he would leave again. Especially after Kousuke, Milo’s favourite person, broke up with his mother when Milo was seven years old, he was heartbroken. Luckily, Kousuke loved the young boy just as much as Milo loved him, and they kept in contact with each other. Despite the pain the young kid felt when another person would leave him, Milo never took it out on his mother and was always there for her when she needed him. He always acknowledged how hard his mother worked to raise him, and he loved her more than anyone else. At school, Milo always felt different from the other kids. Being one of the only mixed students, he always stood out in the crowd. Other students would shame him for having a single mother, who was disowned by her parents. His father may have been absent in his life, but it seemed like his ghost was always following him wherever he went. Milo could not escape him. Even his name was the same, as his mother had named him after his father in hopes of holding onto the man she had once loved so deeply. In his first years at school, he only had one real friend with whom he would do everything. When this friend had to move and leave the school, young Milo couldn’t understand why another person had to leave him and refused to talk to his old friend again. Determined to show everyone he was better than all of them, the boy dedicated all his time to excelling in his academics and extracurriculars. He excelled in both of them, due to his hard work and sharp brain. Despite all his efforts, it never seemed enough; he was still too different. It felt like something was wrong with him. His appearance, his family, and the weird things that kept happening to him. He could not explain them. It seemed like magic. Which was exactly what it was, he learned on his seventh birthday when a professor from Mahotoukoro showed up. It felt like a puzzle piece slipped into its place. First Instance of Magic "Bruises that won't heal" Reducio He had been six. He had been in pain. Curling up in the corner of the couch, Milo listened to his mother's and Kousuke’s raised voices as they continued to yell at each other in the kitchen. They were fighting again. The young boy did not understand why; they were supposed to be a happy family. A tear rolled down his cheek as he noticed Kousuke packing his bag. He couldn’t leave! He was supposed to stay! He had promised he would stay! He scrambled off the couch, tears streaming down his face. As Kousuke reached for the handle of the front door, little Milo screamed at the top of his lungs. “No! You stay!” He ran towards Kousuke and wrapped his small arms around the man’s legs. “You said you would stay,” he sobbed as he tightly hugged the legs. Kousuke patted Milo’s head absently while trying to turn the handle to open the door. Much to everyone’s surprise, the door was not only locked but also impossible to open. The surprise made it impossible for Kousuke to leave, defused the tension, and forced the couple to solve the problem calmly. The two ended up staying together for more than a year after that, still clueless about the accidental magic Milo had used that day.

As her son got older, she was able to get a more stable office job. Society judges her harshly for being a single mother, but she does not let it stop her from working hard to give her son a better future. Despite all the different partners she had over the years, she still hoped Milo's father would return so they could be a perfect little family. Even though she missed her son a lot, she is glad he can go to Mahoutokoro, as she knows he is well taken care of there. Kousuke Tanakada Having dated Milo's mother for a few years, Kousuke started to care a lot about the young boy. He never had the best relationship with his father growing up, and wished something better for Milo. Even though he broke up with Akiko years ago, he still checks up on her son every once in a while and makes sure he is okay. Getting dinner together with Milo after work is still one of his favourite things to do. Even after a long day at the hospital, he still manages to make time for it. He believes the young kid will do great things once he gets older. Due to the strict regulations in Japan, Kousuke, a muggle, does not know about Milo's magical abilities, and it is very hard for the boy to keep it a secret from the man he grew to see as a father.
