Well, I like to think I'm knowledgeable in this, but do you have any hot takes on it?

I'm going to kick things off with a question, so I can see where we all stand on this issue and Hikari and I can know what to teach you guys.

Question: How do we know that Jesus actually died on the cross? What if he actually fainted since that makes logical sense?

Note: I do not believe this, but this is what my apologetics teacher told me is a popular question.

well, he'd been stabbed through the side... I don't know what more proof you need. And anyhow, when he was buried he still wouldn't have been able to go that long without food, muchless water.
I dunno, but I feel like it's pretty obvious.

He probably would have been able to go that long without food or water. He had just eaten and it only would have been about 4 days. Its a stretch for water but it would be fine for food.

Well, he also didn't have a lot of fresh air, especially for three days though maybe, but reminder he was stabbed in the side, w/ blood and water gushing out. Even if he did last without food and water for that long he still wouldn't have been able to survive those wounds without any medical help at all

Wow! That's a really good answer! I'm going to add a couple of things to your answer just so everyone else can learn from this too! When Jesus was stabbed in the side, his blood and the water was separated. This is a very obvious sign of heart failure. Another thing is that a Roman guard and many others watched him die. The guard would not have said he would have died if Jesus had just fainted. One more thing is that they would have broken his legs in order to speed up the process of death, but since he was already dead, they didn't break his legs.

Also, if you get stabbed through your side, you are dead! Even though fainting makes sense, even if he did at first, he would have been killed by the spear.

Well, yes and no. The way that Jesus was stabbed was a way to test and see if the water and blood separated in his body. Like I said earlier, the separation of blood and water in a body means that heart failure has occurred and that person is dead. The stab didn't kill him, but instead it was a test. Though, a stab deep enough into the side that it damages internal organs can kill someone. Especially back then when they didn't have the treatments that we do today!

So if, hypothetically, he had fainted, it could have maybe not killed him?
