Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff 1st Game Finished

The game whizzed on around Asteria. A strange mix of anticipation and anxiety brewed within her as she drifted idly by the Hufflepuff hoops, ready to defend. There were only so many targets that the Slytherin beaters could aim at. They had already taken down poor Julie. Would she be next? She chewed on her lips, watching the plays of the game roll out in front of her. "Go Hufflepuff!" she shouted, hoping that her voice would not get lost in the din of the wind and the roars of the crowd.

At some point, she would absolutely have to do something. The Slytherin chasers would get their hands on the quaffle and she would have to defend, or a bludger might zoom her way. She had to be on guard, ready to face any of the challenges that this strange game might throw at her. Wind whipping against her face, she narrowed her eyes, looking out at the field, tensing her entire body, preparing for the moment where she would have to act. Her teammates were capable, that she was sure of. What she was less sure of was her own prowess, but she was on this team for a reason, yeah?

Well, if anything, Koko was doing her job. Alexx wouldn't have concluded that things were going poorly for Slytherin, but they weren't going the best. Things could be better for sure, though. Briefly, for a moment, Alexx heard Max call out her name. It definitely wasn't the type of cheering that Serena was getting, but all things considered, Alexx didn't have the type of friends that others did. While someone like Serena may have had a surplus of them, Alexx stuck to her one or two people that she actually cared about.

But nonetheless, she shot Max a thoughtful smile, partially assuring him that he was wrong for cheering for Serena Towers. She couldn't fault anyone for cheering for Reid, though. As much as she didn't want to care about him anymore, she knew that they weren't wrong for placing their faith with him.

It felt as though the Quaffle had just escaped the grasp of Alexx. She was so close- and then it didn't happen. Thank Merlin for Koko.

Well, it was whatever. There was always next time, right?

Koko had never thought herself to be particularly fast, but she seemed to be proving herself wrong with this game. Not only was she doing fairly well with blocking, but she had also managed to dodge a bludger. She was significantly less worried, but she also knew that she couldn't let her guard down. The Huffles sure knew how to hammer people hard.

A smile crossed her face as her teammates and housemates cheered - not an arrogant smile, but more or less one of happiness. She was glad to be here, helping Slytherin to victory. "Thanks, Nico," Koko said as the redhead flew past her, and then she raised her voice. "Go Slytherin! We've got this! You can do this, Dan!"

The wind was whipping about even more up here. That would probably make it much more difficult for Dan to catch the snitch, but that was if he found it. If he did, that would be amazing. But now, Koko would just focus on her job. Knock on wood, she'd be able to block a few more goals.

The quaffle was up for grabs again. Again, it was Dawn's fellow Hufflepuff, Annie Morgan who managed to get her hands on the quaffle. Annie zipped down the field with Dawn and Carson on either side of her is a Hawkshead Maneuver. Again, Annie tried to score, and again the quaffle was blocked expertly by Koko.

The Slytherin beaters were at it again, though, this time instead of taking out one of Hufflepuff's beaters,  they took out the seeker. Dawn winced ad the bludger hit seeker Julie Shaw.  Why did Erin have to be so damn strong? Dawn annoyance at another Hufflepuff being taken out soon faded to excitement as Hufflepuff beater, Reid Kovacs knocked a bludger at Erin. It hit her and she fell off her broom. Unluckily, Bridget Collins was there to catch Erin.

So far, so good. So far, this match had been everything Dawn had hoped it would be. Fun, interesting, annoying, and highly competitive.

Elena took back any worries she'd ever had about Koko changing from beater to keeper, the girl was brilliant.

Shot after shot went towards to goal as the chaser team had the quaffle stolen by the opposing team, and shot after shot was blocked like an absolute champion.

A new strategy was needed, variables raced through her head as she signalled a series of interesting coded motions to their captain.

The Slytherin Quidditch team was having a fair amount of success. At least, Koko was. The blonde-haired girl was killing it in goal, blocking Hufflepuff's second scoring attempt. "Well done, Koko!" the small girl yelled, although her voice was lost in the cacophony coming from the stands.

All of a sudden, after Erin Ryan knocked the Hufflepuff Seeker off her broom (Bridget felt quite bad for the girl--that had to have hurt), the older Beater was sent crashing down. Oh no. This was bad, very bad... The snake urged her broom forward, swooping under the falling girl just in time. She'd saved Erin! Honestly, the purple-haired girl scared her a bit and she wasn't all too thrilled with sharing a broom with her. But Erin was a great asset to their team and it would've been problematic to lose her. Her strategy was sure to change now that she was sharing a broom, but whether she returned the other Beater to her respective broom or they worked together, there was no time for hesitation.

As bad as it sounds, Dan was actually pretty relieved when he saw the Hufflepuff Seeker fall. It looked like she had found the Snitch, and almost had caught it.
The MVPs of the match were definitely Koko and Erin. Erin blasting people out of the sky, and Koko laying down an iron wall in front of the goal posts.

But congratulations could wait. He had a job to do too, and he was going to do it.

A black and gray cloth was tied to the head of the Nimbus 1000, a bit of a good luck charm to him and an homage to his favorite football club in Derbyshire. But luck probably wasn't going to aid him in the coming seconds as he dove for the bludger that screamed at him. His green eyes locked onto Erin's body and just as he had gotten swooped in, he saw what had befallen Julie. "Damnit!" If only he was faster than he was, maybe he could've gotten Erin sooner.

The bat connected with the bludger throttled it towards the opponent beater. His aim was true as he watched it take the player out of the sky, much to his dismay, she was saved. Still, small victories. However, he didn't know how he would have felt if he saw her hit the floor. His brows knitted as he flew past the scene, briefly watching where Julie had landed. He gripped his bat as the black and yellow coat whipped behind him.

Erin was going to take Reid down. She gripped her broomstick and with a predatory gaze she watched Reid fly onto the Quidditch field. Reid Kovacs was hers. That much was the Slytherin's brazen declaration. Dan Palmer had other ideas, she was to leave the death witch be for now and target some girl she knew nothing about. Really? She mouthed as she gestured towards the monstrous third year Hufflepuff beater. Reid Kovacs was by far the superior target. Of course, Erin was not concerned about winning, she just wanted to take the boy out.

She swatted at the bludger as it whistled nearby. The bluder that was intended for Kovacs in another life and another time. With a resounding crack she hit the bludger hard and the sphere of doom would wiz in Julie's direction. Erin's aim was true. The bludger would hit the girl and knock her from her broomstick.

Erin would turn around, she had lost track of Kovacs. She did not see Reid, rather she met a bludger to the eye.

POW!

Erin saw stars and the field became dark as she lost her grip on the bluebottle. Her hand to her throbbing eye, she would plummet, too disoriented to even realize she was falling to the unforgiving earth below. Her brain case was exceptionally hard, although unlikely hard enough to save her from a concussion as she felt something or someone grab hold of her.  She initially flailed her arms, an unconscious reaction. "Whoa!" She complained, dizzy and disoriented before she recognized her team colors.

Due to the fast-thinking of her team mate, she was saved. Unsteady but perched on their shared broom. "Frigging hell," she complained as she withdrew her hand from her brow. Her hand was painted red. "Who hit me?" She gripped a few inches of broomstick to steady herself.  "Like a damn truck." She shook her head a bit, she felt as if her brain slid back and forth a bit.

If Erin was answered, she would let out a groan as if to put a noise to the phrase of course it was HIM. "Get me to my broom or let me take him out," she would demand. "I just need one clean shot," a truth really. There was no student on this field that could endure a single shot from her.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

Carson narrowed his eyes as Koko managed to block yet another shot. Slytherin has picked a good Keeper, huh? Annie was doing well too, though, she’d proved to be a good Chaser. He found himself getting a little frustrated, but he couldn’t do anything but follow the game plan. He did feel a bit unsure about Erin Ryan, however, who’d been targeting their Beaters. He did not want to get knocked off his broom, to say the least.
