"Oh."

"My"

"Goodness!"

The high-pitched flamboyant voice, echoed through the mind of the Half-Giant. Annoying as always...

"It didn't even take 30 seconds for you to get knocked out. The mighty Half-Giant bastard. Done in by two girls less then half his mass and size."

The disembodied voice chuckled...no cackled incessantly. It was so unhinged, so insane, so...

"I wooehld appreciate it. If you wooehld kendly quiet de 'ell down and leave me be you insoehfferable ass."

Annoyed and rightfully so, Quinn managed to keep their voice low. It was too confusing and tiring for him to have a mental chat with his emotions being the way they were. So he learned instead to discreetly talk in a soft tone like he was doing. Not quite a whisper but not loud enough for someone more then a few feet away to hear either.

Currently the redhead prefect of Hufflepuff found themselves alone and dressed in a comfortable looking black, gold, and white knitted turtleneck. Black jeans, and slip on vans. It was a cold day with a fair breeze, the sun obscured by heavy cloud cover. It was pleasant to him a perfect day to be out near a source of great fear for him. But on days like today how could he not enjoy the breathtaking beauty and harmonious calm that the quiet, lapping waters brought.

"Hey dumbass you're doing that annoying thing where you literally broadcast every thought. I swear Quinn I don't know what's worse. Your sorry performance or your idiotic fear of the water. Soooo you nearly drowned twice big whoop. You'll never be a proper man if you let such silly fears rule you. Then again what can anyone expect from the bastard child of Dub-"

Rage suddenly enveloped the Half-Giant, their muscled and growing body appearing to actually grow a bit. Muscles becoming much more pronounced. His body tense from the anger he felt, and that's when a long forgotten sensation welled up. Something he could not put his hands on, luckily for him. Quinn forced themselves quicker towards the water his irrational and great fear quickly batting away the anger he felt. He was now only a few meters from the waters edge. Barely containing his fear.

"Nice try 'arlin. i dahn't know what's gaht you so nasty dis time arooehnd. I 'ave a feelin boeht i wahn't waste me mental energy guessin. I refuse to let you cahntinually 'ave yooehr way. I'm me...naht a bastard. Besides at least I 'ave a bahdy one you can't so easily claim when you please anymahre!"

He proclaimed this one with firm resolve. Forcing doubts he had deep down, and at least for the moment Harlin was shut up. He was still there and definitely furious but he couldn't do much this time. Because of the therapy and various habits, exercises, and healthy coping mechanisms he developed over much of the last year and especially summer. With the help of medication that no one knew he took. Quinn was able to manage his condition.

The third personality that he remembered but also almost never saw as of yet had yet to surface. He was glad for it because battling with Harlin with help was hard enough. He felt like at any moment Harlin would take control if he wasn't careful. Sometimes he wanted him to just so he could escape from reality....dangerous thoughts indeed. Thoughts he quickly shooed away.

"Focus!"

He stared out over the water for gods know how long. After a while he managed to let everything else go even the voice of a protesting and attention hungry Harlin was in the furthest background. Like very muddled and distant audio. The sounds of the water and breeze were in the forefront of his mind, the calmness enveloping him like the warm, gentle embrace of a mother. His eyes softened and stared out into the vast expanse for the briefest of minutes his fear of the lake totally disappeared.

Santario wasn’t exactly sure why she kept coming back to the lake. It certainly was not holding good memories for her as of the past few months. This is where she had, had two of her worst arguments and the second one, although repaired already, had not been good at all. She sighed as she walked along the edge of the water the breeze pushing her long, raven hair about occasionally as she walked along. The day was cold, and it had her dressed in a t-shirt, black jeans, with her black & white chucks donning her feet. Over her t-shirt was her black, leather jacket with cloth sleeves and a cloth hood zipped all the way up. The glint of a silver necklace could be seen at the top of her jacket.

The only thing that she didn’t have with her today was her signature camera bag no instead that was sitting back on her bed in her dorm along with the scarf that she wished that she had brought with her. Instead, she just shoved her hands into the pockets of her jacket and continued strolling along. Until she saw a very tall boy which gave her a bit of a pause. He was the boy that had gone down first in the quidditch game that they had played against not too long ago. Santario had been benched at the time and that made the boys landing all the worse. That wasn’t the only place that she remembered this boy from though, no, there was a point during something camp when she remembered seeing him at that bracelet making party… thing…

She actually had a couple of photos of this boy in her photo album. Now that was a strange thought now that she did indeed think about it. Having just random photos of people, but then again it was a school event and it couldn’t really be considered that weird could it? She would start to walk towards the boy again and decided that she wouldn’t lead this conversation with that fact. “You’re your Quinn right?” Her silvery voice called out as she approached him pulling some of her raven hair out of her face as she did so. The only real reason she even knew his name was because of Quidditch though he doubted he knew hers considering the circumstances of the game.

Quinn had barely noticed the young snake. Normally he would have noticed much earlier but considering the state of his mind yeah at the moment. It was a miracle he noticed at all. Because she snapped him out of his pseudo zen-like state. Quinn's fear came crashing into him like a rogue wave slamming into the side of a freighter. Thinking quickly before panic would set in, the Half-Giant turned on his heels to face her.

"Yes? Who are you, and why do i feel like I've seen you befahre?"

She looked familiar but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He was drawing blanks, however focusing on her was keeping his mind off of the bigger issue. The big ass body of terrifying water behind him. It was pathetic wasn't, someone as imposing as him terrified of some damn water. Was bad enough he got knocked out so quickly in quidditch. If it wasn't for his tough body he would have seriously broke something during his fall. Instead he had minor wounds and a very slight concussion. Emphasis on had and very slight.

His revenge on Erin in their next face off would be swift, brutal, and without mer-

He forced himself to ignore what Harlin just said. Gods he could be so infuriating at times.

Santario chuckled and ran a hand through her hair. “Oh forgive me, my name is Santario. We didn’t really meet the first time I saw you but we first kind of saw each other during the summer.” Her silvery voice polite and kind acompanied with a smile that touched her sapphire eyes. She would let her sleeves cover her hands to help keep them warm from the wind as she stopped at a socially acceptable distance that wouldn’t have her craning her neck to look up at him. “At that bracelet event… All the pink. I was the girl with the camera.” It would be easy to say that she had a really good memory, which was true, but it was hard to forget a boy as tall as he was. She was almost surprised that this was the first time outside of quidditch that she had actually seen him.

She didn’t want to admit the next part of how they knew each other but she knew it was better, to be honest than hide it even if it might be a touchy subject for him. “I also play quidditch.” It was a secondary statement trying not to draw attention that she did, in fact, know that he was the boy that had plummeted to the ground. That was the one thing she hated most about quidditch. “I like days like this” She offered a small shrug before continuing to answer his question. “I have fair skin, obviously, so I find on days like this I can enjoy the outdoors more than normal. I’m sorry if I was bothering you I didn’t mean to disturb your peace. I can go if you want?” She gestured over her shoulder with her thumb in the direction that she had come in. The last thing that she wanted to do was disturb someone who was probably thinking about things, she knew that she didn’t much like it herself.

"Quidditch..."

His brows knitted together and he frowned a bit. He didn't like his first foray into the flames of battle. It was embarrassing and it made him feel pretty useless. Obviously that wasn't her fault but it made him feel all sorts of emotions.

"...W-Well...It's a pleasure to meet you Santario."

He bowed slightly showing his respect. He couldn't blame her for what was just ultimately a game. She didn't deserve his anger or anything for what was obviously not her fault.

"Yes yes I get it. You've emotionally matured and grown up. Now if you just let me ta-"

Quinn bit his inner cheek and explicitly focused internally now. Growing silent and his face contorting into one of focus. For nearly a minute he stayed like that. He was having an argument with his other personality as it forcibly tried to take control of him. To others it would seem crazy which it is was. But you know the saying. Truth is often stranger then fiction.

When he came back to, he looked down at Santario.

"....Anyway ye doent need te go. Could use de company. It is a nice day afterall."

He commented and sighed. Today was a somewhat pleasant day but the encroaching fear was growing stronger and putting his focus on someone else. Would help keep him from freaking out and allowing the now hostile Harlin to take control.

“It is a pleasure to officially meet you as well Quinn.” She would offer a slight bow of her head in return to his in an equal show of respect. Realistically she should have offered a curtsy but that was so much stranger to do than returning the bow with a movement of her head. This, however, was when Quinn seemed to space out. She raised up her right brow as she observed him in this, particularly long feeling moment. She didn’t know Quinn well at all and she wasn’t sure if this was something that was normal for the boy… Was he particularly slow? Maybe he just wasn’t good with words and had to think hard about what he wanted to say?

These were questions she simply did not have an answer to. Though it was something that intrigued her she didn’t think he would have landed a spot as co-captain on his quidditch team if he were dull or stupid. When he did speak his sentences seemed normal and it was very clear that the boy had manners. They stood like this with her watching his blank expression for what felt like an eternity but really was only a minute. Within this time she had shoved her hands back into her jacket pockets and adjusted her stance. Her right foot was now positioned more outward with her hip cocked as she waited for him to come out of it.

Then there it was it seemed like he was actually looking at her again instead of whatever it was that he was phased into. “It is a nice day. I was taking a walk did you want to join me in continuing? I planned on walking down to the forest and back, but I don’t mind staying here either. The lake is… Beautiful…” The last word was hesitated betraying the fact that she may not particularly enjoy being by the large body of water. “I’ll be upfront I’m not great at small talk, but I’m always happy to have good company.” There was that newly instilled confidence that she was still trying to get used too. Did she know that Quinn was good company? Certainly not, but he also didn’t seem to react too badly to her bringing up quidditch regardless of his fate in the game so he couldn’t have been that bad either.

A small genuine laugh escaped his lips, he couldn't help it. The statement albeit true was so funny because he could be terrible at small talk. Not because he was awkward though that could be a factor, but because he talked way too much. Just vomited a verbal tsunami right on to the person(s) who had his focus.

"It's alright. I can be bad at it too. Accent doesn't 'elp sahmetimes, boeht is what it is I soehppahse."

He shrugged glancing back at the water. It would become quickly apparent that he was highly uncomfortable around the lake. His normally straight posture was disrupted by his haunched shoulders and bend in his spine making him look a bit smaller then he was. His eyes vibrant as they were and despite their size were sharper as if he was focusing solely on you.

"A walk sooehnds lahvely. And if you are interested I wooehld lahve to talk abooeht well anythin. I'm very knowledgeable you know? I've read so many books in de library I cooehld prahbably answer whatever question you ask me."

The statement was sudden and change in subject even more so. Punctuated by the fact that there seemed to be underlying meaning with his words. One easy to understand if one were to observe his behavior and now intentional glances back at the water. It would seem the young Half-Giant was too prideful or paranoid to admit his fear in public. The only down side was that his voice was harder to understand then drunk Dolly Parton Idioms.

She grinned up at him when he laughed and she was happy that she could at least make someone laugh even if she hadn’t intended to. She was about to say something but he looked back at the water and she seemed to hyper-focus on his reaction to it keying into the fact that this was not the place for him. Observing and picking up certain social queues was her specialty. Making direct eye contact with Quinn allowing him to focus intently on those sharp sapphire eyes of hers. She decided they would move from the lake.

He spoke again and that alluded to the fact that he was not stupid or slow which only brought her more questions than it did answers. “My paternal grandparents are from Wicklow so I am used to Irish accents. I even get one when I am angry or frustrated.”She motioned with her head for him to follow as she started walking backward away from the lake. Only when they were far enough from it would she turn to fall in step beside him, presuming he did, in fact, start walking with her. “Well, talk to me about your passions. As of right now what do you want out of life when you graduate?”

Although the question, in general, could be considered small talk it was an easy open to a much larger conversation which would also turn her into someone capable of word vomit. So far she hadn’t met anyone who shared her passion for what she wanted out of life as far as a career was concerned but her ideal was so specific as well. Learning about what someone was passionate about told a lot about them, more than any number of small talk questions ever would.

She had presumed right. Quinn wasted no time and eagerly took the line she had put out for him. Playing it off in a somewhat lazy manner so as not to appear like the water bothered him. It was awkward and a bit out of place but in the end it still worked out. He listened to her talk, taking smaller steps so she wouldn't have to jog to match his pace. Unfortunately, that meant it was a test of patience for Quinn. He felt like he was going at a snails pace. Having to treat like an exercise in growing his patience and a challenge at the same time helped him bear with it. The Half-Giant did his best to not let his discontent show on his face.

To his pleasant surprise a way to distract himself from the discontent was offered along with a way to talk about something he never gets asked. It was like all of a sudden a switch was flipped. It took maybe all of three seconds for a wide tooth grin from ear to ear to plaster itself around his well defined high cheek boned face. Eyes blazing to laugh with the sort of childish glee that is pure, fierce, and unyielding.

"Carefoehl what you wesh fahr Sanrio."

A nickname. A strange one. If she knew it good on her, and if she didn't well tough luck. It was strange, weird, and unique. So ha! Now onto the answer to her question.

"De department o' mysteries fahr de minestry o' magic. I want to 'ead de entire department. Dink abooeht what moehst go ahn dere. De fahrbedden arts dat dey are allowed to study, de deadly secrets dey moehst 'ahld. It represents curiosity in semplest mahst dangerooehs fahrm. oehnrelentin, oehnfahrgivin, oehnlimited curiosity. Dey ahnly know what de directahr o' de apartment wance dem to know. De entire department is cahmpartmentalized wit de 'ighest levels o' secrecy pahssebly. Everythin is need to know."

Fast and loose. That's how he started talking pouring on a mountain of information to her. She truly got him going and the end wasn't insight.

"You can call me whatever you want. Demented, cahld 'earted, reckless. In sahme fahr ahr fashion i am all o' dahse dings yes. Boeht divin into de oehnknown is fascinatin and tantalizin. Yes it is dangerooehs and certain knowledge doesn't belahng in dis wahrld. Boeht dat's sahmethin dat shooehld be dealt wit in de mahment. Dat is wahrth it in de end."

His conviction was strong and determination clear in his face. His smile dropped a bit but it wasn't sad. Just serious, but after a moment when it looked like he was done. He dropped the serious tone and expression replacing it with his former child like glee filled grin.

"O' cooehrse if bein in de department o' mysteries fails i can joehst figure ooeht what to do den. Maybe becomb an aurahr. dat cooehld be cool. "

He stated that last bit more or less matter of factly shrugging as he did so.

Sanrio? Wasn’t that someplace in Japan? She remembered seeing it in her private tutoring lessons and it stuck with her because it was so close to her name, but she didn’t know the significance behind the city or what they were known for. She would walk in as long of a stride as she was capable for the boy, and if they had been closer friends, she would have suggested that he just put her up on his shoulders. Alas, they were not close enough for her to suggest something like that yet. She would just get her workout today with this walk since she couldn’t train extra with Kyle today it being a Gryffindor training day and all.

When the boy continued to speak he spoke and a lot more than she had expected him to. She listened intently giving nods of her head and mhms to show that she was paying attention to him as he spoke. He did not hold back on speaking about his passion and she could see it on his face. There was a spark that always hit someone’s eyes when they spoke about the things that they love. She smiled as he continued to speak knowing she had done what she intended to do, distract him. She hadn’t been sure what was bothering him, but it had been clear that something had. In a way, although it was only a minor distraction it still played into one of the things that she loved doing.

When the boy was done talking and offered his final comment about maybe being an Auror as a failsafe she would chuckle slightly. “First and foremost I don’t think you’re crazy, insane, or cold-hearted. The jury is still out on reckless I don’t know you well enough for that.” She shot him a playful smile before continuing on. “I am the type of person who doesn’t believe magic is light or dark it is solely upon the intent of the user. I don’t really feel things should be as restricted as they are because realistically I can be just as dangerous to someone with a tickling spell as I can be with anything else they have hidden away. Even a tickling spell could kill someone or even distract them enough to take serious harm if used in the right situation.” She would offer her own shrug.

It would appear that Quinn Healy was just one of those people that could get her talking as well. “I’m not saying absolutely everything should be released to the public but I do feel it is a bit more restricted than it should be. On that note, although I don’t know you all that well. Guessing that you are probably 12 going on 13? Already as tall as you are I think you would make a formidable Auror. Although, I do not plan on ever becoming someone that Aurors would come after in a bad way I can say that if you were one of em I’d be quaking in my boots.” It was no lie either because if she was right about his age and how tall he already was there was a good chance that he was not done growing yet. She had never met someone so tall in her life let alone at their age.

“Also, Sanrio… Isn’t that some city in Japan or something?” The question wasn’t posed as if him calling her that bothered her because it didn’t. It was more posed out of curiosity to see why it related to her name or maybe it was just because she related it in the same way to her own name. This would be the first time anyone else had done it out loud to her, but she was getting used to nicknames. Finding that they weren’t all as terrible as she thought they would be.
