Admittedly, Aurelia thought that the outfit her Mother chosen was slightly overboard. Yet she adorned the armbands before advancing towards the ballroom. It was her mother who picked out the outfit and she would have been disappointed if her Daughter did not wear the full package to the dance. By the white dress, shoes, Aurelia knew where her Mother was getting at. Having finally the chance to pick her thirteen year old Daughter’s ensemble, her Mother certainly outdid herself by picking out an outfit that resembled what Aurelia saw was a deity of sorts.

Nevertheless, Aurelia strutted her down the hallways and soon was a feet away from the doors of the ballroom. She finally slipped the mask which she was holding all the while over her face. Here she was, at yet another ball. However, Aurelia was rather reluctant to go inside, her feet hadn’t moved an inch and they stood in place. The balls that was held in Hogwarts never went well. Of course, it was guaranteed that no one would kidnap her this time round seeing that this was an indoor facility rather an outdoor one like the traumatic episode that happened during the blossomfest. She sure hope his ball would be a normal, uneventful one.

When Aurelia finally step foot into the ballroom, she scanned for anyone she knew but realised that most of the masks their part well in hiding the identity of their wearer making it almost impossible to recognise an individual. Her mask which obscured almost half her face hid her visage as well.

Whatever it was, wandering alone in the ballroom wasn’t what Aurelia planned to do when she made the decision to attend this year’s event. One boy’s outfit had caught her eye, he wore a fancy white suit and a huge mask and she’d be lying to say their outfits did not compliment another. “You would most likely find it impossible to eat without taking your mask off,” she stated, laughing lightly.

But if I were you, I would not touch the food. The Blossomfest ball last term had the punches spiked with the truth potion.” Despite the her words, Aurelia reached out to the nearest cup of... whatever it was and took a sip. She had expected it to be something sweet, the same veritaserum spiked punch maybe, but she found the taste of the drink oddly resembling camomile tea. But since camomile tea was by far her favourite kind of tea, she wasn’t complaining. “Hmm, I wouldn’t have expected tea to be served in a ball.” She mumbled mostly to herself.

@Catriona Staverly

Kyle noticed the sigh of relief and that sealed it for him, it had to be that girl from the Lake a little bit back. He hadn't exactly gotten off on the best first foot with this girl. If anything she had seen him in pretty bad form, as he was on agitated and quite short in all honesty. So why had she sought him out and chosen to speak to him? Here of all places with all the fun, and people, and dancing and oddly enough, romance.

"You look a bit uncomfortable. I don't blame you, I'm pretty put off too. Too many people here."

The girl was absolutely correct. There were far too many people here, but she was wrong as to why that made him uncomfortable. Granted, he wasn't about to tell her the real reason he was uncomfortable. He made the mistake of telling one person about his secret of being a werewolf. He wasn't going to do something that stupid again, that's for sure. "It seems a little early to be leaving, There are a couple people I should find before dipping." he winced slightly as a particularly strong scent wafted by and he could feel the Migraine was done growing and began to throb in the back of his skull.

Kyle closed his eyes and took a deep breath, through his mouth ofcourse, and swallowed heavily. He had dealt with worse than this before, he could power through just fine. He just needed to focus on something else. And well, the only thing there was to focus on at the moment was the shorter girl right infront of him.

"I'm Shite with names, Cant remember em for anything. What is yours again?"

The day everyone was waiting for, the day where everyones lives would be changed. The day of the Masquerade ball. Millie had decided to head to the Ballroom with Maggie and Charlotte, but as fate would have it, Maggie and Charlotte went off to go and talk to their friends. Not that Millie didn't have friends, it was just that she didn't have friends that weren't busy. Or that didn't like parties.

And honestly? Millie didn't blame them. These parties never ended out well. They all somehow ended up with everyone aflame, or in pain. Even though she had on a nice dress, she had cut the dress and made it have pockets. It wasn't neat, but at least her wand would be with her at all times.

As she was walking around, she nearly bumped into another girl. This girl had pretty blonde hair, and an even prettier dress and mask. Millie took a step away and smiled slightly. "Sorry about that, haha, wasn't watching where I was going." She looked up at the girl. "I don't think I've met you- but I can say that about everyone with masks. I'm Millie."

She looked around at everyone else, and then back to the girl with pretty blonde hair, maybe if this girl didn't already know her, she would make a new friend with pretty blonde hair.

Serenity already had a bad feeling about joining this ball. She was really excited about meeting people from a different magical school, and even more excited about this ball. And then it started. The anxiety settled in, and she became nervous to even be there. She hadn't really met any new students, and her old friends had made new best friends. Leaving her with a sense of- loneliness. Something she hadn't felt since she was first in Ilvermorny.

She began walking around the ball, her the mask she was wearing didn't make any of her facial features go away. Her dark brown eyes and thick pink lips were still there. The mask only hid the upper part of her face, and the features up there. Well, it only hid her eye bags that had been growing for an endless amount of time. She put on a big smile, and waited for someone to (hopefully) approach her. Or else this would be a very lonely ball

Catriona bit back a frown at DeRook's words. He still looked uncomfortable, but it was his choice to stay and she wasn't just going to abandon him. Not when he looked like he was fighting the urge to throw himself off a cliff. She'd wait with him, at least until he met whoever he was supposed to be meeting. Like a really small, ineffective guard dog.

The most likely candidate was the other girl, Santario, the one she'd seen at the lake. The other person she'd managed to piss off that day. She'd have to apologize at some point, but if she was being honest, she was dreading it. Talking to DeRook was an impulse decision, at best, one she'd made in under five seconds (a record for her). Being impulsive was possibly the only way she could bypass her nerves completely. She called it her "Freddie impulse," clearly dedicated to her sister, the biggest daredevil in the Staverly household.

"I'm Catriona." She paused, tacking on a quick "Staverly" just to seem more proper. "DeRook, right? I'm assuming that's not your first name..." She almost winced. What if it was his first name and she just offended him and his entire family. Talking to people was so stressful she sometimes wondered why anyone bothered.

Kaegen hadn't been aware of the ball. Sure he'd seen the fliers, heard the announcements, heard the other announcements, heard some of the chatter, and seen the big signs, but he hadn't really registered any of it. His brain had filed it away under some random event that didn't matter. Sure people had been talking about it among each other for quite some time but never with Kaegen. Why would they, after all. He was the monster of Hogwarts, he was the terrifying beast that stalked hogwarts' hallowed halls. Everyone that read the paper had heard the story, and even those that hadn't would have heard whispers. "He almost killed a friend of mine." "He's not human, you know. Have you heard what he did in the abandoned bathrooms? I heard it was a bomb." "He's a monster. Entirely insane."

Kaegen didn't get very bothered by them, he regarded the hate as a direct cause of his superiority. He was envied and feared, and so those lesser than he resented him, mocked and scorned him behind his back. The little Ravenclaw would never admit to being hurt by any of these words, not even to himself. He forced himself to believe he was strong, and he did this with skill and a denialistic nature that was usually only found in those much older than he was. A rejection of the world around him in favor of his own.

It didn't take him long after he first entered the large hall to realize that everyone was wearing a costume. At the very least, a paltry mask of some sort or another. He had nothing that could be considered a costume, was only wearing his faded black robes with the fraying sleeves, his spidery, dull claw tipped fingernails peeking out from the ends. His skin was a sickly shade of grey, bearing the appearance of a boy close to death, or maybe a terminally ill wonton wrapper. Dark shadows ringing his eyes provided the only color that could reasonably called such. He wasn't wearing his scarf, and the scar tissue on his neck felt cold and naked when exposed to the air, even after so long. The only other remarkable feature was the huge umbrella strapped to his back with cord, a testament to a potential phobia of rainy days, or perhaps a sinister plan.

He was out of place everywhere, but it was most apparent here, in the crowded hall. The only blessing was that he didn't have to push through the crowd. The crowd moved out of his way for the most part, trying their best not to touch the little boy. He wandered in a bit further, headed for the food. His eyes scanned his surroundings briefly, but there was no one easily recognizable. Everyone wore masks. It was weird, and he didn't like it. Something bad was going to happen, but before it could, Kaegen was planning on grabbing some food and then bailing. It was a solid plan, as far as he was concerned, and one that wasn't going to take very long to carry out.

Ozzy was dressed so well, he looked so CUTE! To be honest, that only made Dan more nervous.
Come on! He was supposed to be the confident one!
Boy he sure didn't FEEL like the confident one right now.

"I'm fine. C-Completely..... Totally...."
REAL convincing there. Ozzy totally bought that, I'm sure.

Dan was actually surprised at how much mileage he was getting out of this Joker outfit. He thought he'd only be wearing it at one of Maggie's parties, but this was clearly more useful than just a one off costume.
He looked around a bit more, and saw that someone was blatantly copying his mask. Dan briefly sported a look of annoyance. But at least he wasn't outright copying his entire outfit. Then, he would have been mad.

Then, someone else came up to him. Someone in a semi creepy jester mask. He recognized the voice as Pierre, from one of Maggie's parties. Then he started going off about whether or not he had gotten any new personas, or why he wasn't stealing anything.
Dan noticed something on Pierre's right hip in his peripheral vision, and subtly started moving his hand toward it, though he made sure to keep Pierre's attention, and got into the act.

"I'm hoping to get one here, as a matter of fact. Could always use another."

Dan's light fingers gripped the wand, and slipped it out carefully.
Dan smirked. "You expect me to steal something?"
He held up the boy's wand, and the smirk grew.
"Who says I'm not?"
He flipped the wand in the air, to where he was holding the end, and held the handle back out to Pierre.

He then saw a girl come to them and wave. Dan waved back, and turned to Ozzy again. He wasn't sure how they were going to dance with this kind of music going on, but maybe that was not such a bad thing...

"So uh, what do ya want to do?"

Karilyna bounced lightly on the balls of her feet as she trailed off her last sentence. Thankfully, Astrid approached the trouble-causing pair. "Hey, Astrid," Karilyna smiled, shifting to the side to let Astrid in. She didn't want to exclude her fellow first year--that was just low. "Oh, thanks," she blushed at the comment about her outfit. What was she even supposed to say when she got compliments about fashion, of all things? "Nice outfit yourself," the girl said back to Astrid. "I like the Thunderbird mask-thingy." Karilyna fidgeted with her own mask, regretting her choice of facewear. Merlin, this mask was heavy

"So, what do you guys wanna do?" Karilyna asked. "I don't know anyone here, so this is going to be awkward... Well, I'm sure we can always just barge in on people's conversations." she grinned. "But we're not talking to the older Thunderbirds. They're just stupid... And rotten," she finished. They were never really nice--always stuck-up--but like a mob of vultures ready to pounce. Karilyna was sure she could take them with a few resulting injuries but she just decided to keep the peace. No need wrecking a party--especially one at Hogwarts--for revenge. That could happen later.

"Anyways, let's go get some punch. Or whatever that goopy stuff is," the young girl suggested. After all, they might as well go somewhere...

Icy, pale eyes swept across the room, picking up a few of the faces she knew. Mainly, her eye caught Dinara, watching as the odd girl flitted around awkwardly. Frankly, she'd always wondered if the poor Puffball was always this way, or if it was due to the effects of the Blossom Ball. The snake made a mental note to check in on the girl before the end of the night, even if just to say hi since she'd not spoken to her since before summer break when the girl abruptly ran off after their talk.

Though she'd never admit it, there was one boy in particular she was hoping to spy. When they'd met the other day by the Great Lake, she hadn't caught his name; though he at least had the common sense she lacked to ask for her's. She hadn't seen him earlier in the common room while everyone else was getting ready, nor at any other point in the days leading up to the ball. She wondered if this would even be something he'd be interested in...

Illowy shook the silly thoughts from her mind. How pointless to wonder where a perfect stranger was... It wasn't as though she'd be able to recognize him after all. If she barely recognized him after being in the same house as him for at least a year, what hope did she stand recognizing him in some ridiculous mask?

Her eyes then landed on a more familiar figure. If she were to be honest, she expected nothing less dramatic from her own blood. The first giveaway to her had been the scar peaking under the mask; the getup only sealed the deal. Illowy smirked a bit to herself and rolled her eyes before she took notice of his discomfort. Sure, there were many things she could imagine in this situation that was making him uncomfortable, but it didn't make her any less concerned. It was impossible for her not to be concerned over him. At this point with her mother having practically established that she was ignoring her entirely aside from sending her what she needed for the ball, Kyle was the closest person to her; and the only person she felt she could trust at this point.

The girl made a mental note to check up on him when he was less preoccupied with whomever it was he was currently talking to before abandoning her post as a wallflower to start towards the refreshment table. More then familiar with the sort of drink being served, she helped herself to a glass, being greeted with the sweet, crisp taste of fizzy grape juice. It tasted like a warm night at home, bent over her latest drawing or painting while everyone else was asleep. She smiled to herself before looking up, the colors of a curious mask, like leaves changing season, caught her attention. For a moment, she regretted choosing such a simple mask, with nothing special aside from some glitter, "I love your mask." she complimented the boy.

Pale eyes looked him over for a moment, not quite registering who it was. Certainly, he'd cleaned up well for the party; dressed in a well pressed suit and his hair gelled and tousled in a way she could only imagine was fitting for whatever his face may look like.

The snake sipped at her drink before offering a small smile, "Enjoying the party?"

Many people had goals when they went to a party. To get kissed, to actually dance, to wear a beautiful dress. While beautiful and obtainable goals, Eris could not harbour similar ideologies when it came to the Masquerade ball. Although, as any teenage girl would admit, Eris wasn’t quite averse to the idea of being kissed. Not that she would reveal that information to anyone, willingly. Cooties were a real epidemic and the rise of disease spread more every year. But even cooties couldn’t ruin Eris’s evening. With a goal to make certain the ball was perfect, Eris was more than ready.

Being tall was Eris’s goal to ensure a perfect evening. When you were as short as Eris, gaining some kind of altitude was excruciatingly vital when the person you were going to the ball with resembled a giant in stature. Although, if Adam was a giant, Eris was a dwarf. Thus, the height difference was extremely important. So, why was it so hard to achieve any semblance of height? Eris’s metamorphmagus abilities allowed her to grow three inches taller, and the heels she was wearing added to the illusion of height. With those added components, she now stood at a whopping five feet tall.

To most people, that wasn’t very tall. However, to Eris.. she was virtually a giant. While getting ready, the girl had looked in the mirror and felt a rush of power, as she whispered the dreaded words. “How’s the weather up there?” Had she been talking to herself? Perhaps. Was it still thrilling to pretend that she was tall, even just for a night? Fuck yes. Hopefully, Adam would be delighted by Eris’s rise in height. Eris knew she was giddy over it. Hoping that a few people would notice her height difference if her date did not, Eris had spent hours upon hours practising walking in heels.

Now that she was standing in front of the ballroom, Eris desperately hoped that her vain attempts at walking in heels had paid off. Running her sweaty palms against the fabric of her borrowed dress, Eris’s stomach churned. Now at the precipice of the ball, it was easy to remember just how nerve-wracking actually going to the dance with Adam was. Looking up at the blonde-haired boy who had agreed to enter with her, Eris’s lips unwillingly turned upwards into a smile. While terrified, she did have to admit the prospect of spending a whole night dancing with Adam was electrifying.

“I can’t believe we’re doing this.” Eris muttered, the excitement in her voice embarrassing her. “It’s all very exciting, isn’t it? To finally dance without something going wrong or someone being set on fire.” She shuddered at her own words, thinking about the time she had been set on fire. Running a hand through her hair, Eris looked down at her outfit. She wasn’t going to get burnt, not tonight. Her wand was hidden in the bodice of her dress, and her outfit was too pretty to get ruined by fire.

The Fawley was dressed in a golden dress, with white flowers embroidered into the neckline. For the occasion, she had used her metamorphmagus abilities to her advantage. Eris’s usually red hair was now brunette, but frosted white at the tips. Her hair was also shorter than usual, exposing a vast array of golden earrings that had been clipped to her ears. Another perk of being a metamorphmagus was being able to pierce and unpierced her ears quickly. The mask upon her face was decently plain, just silver with swirls. It had been a struggle to place upon her face, a struggle to sit back and remember that the masked man was gone. That the Ilvermorny adults would be at the ball and would make sure nothing bad happened.

Still lingering by the entrance to the ballroom, Eris turned to Adam. “We should have a grand entrance! We can dramatically run and then go find our friends.” Squinting into the room and seeing someone with a cat mask, Eris grinned. “I think that’s someone we know!” Phae liked cats and was tall. Of course, the person with a cat mask was not Phae-- but Eris was not aware of that fact at the moment. All she could think of was a dramatic entrance.

Clad in a gown of blue with gold filigree about the hem and chest, the young first year actually held a fan with one brace housing her wand as she stepped into the ballroom. Allison looked around, trying to be as regal and noble of bearing as possible. As young as she was, it was rather difficult to look impressive, but she did give it a valiant effort. Her eyes fell on a few faces, but she really had no idea who anyone was just yet. There was a moment where she paused at the door.

The young brunette decided it was time to properly enter the ballroom. Taking several steps forward into the ballroom proper, her gown had a bounce and flow to it. There were several faces familiar to her, mostly the teachers, but the students all seemed to blend together. It didn't help that some were in masks and that the costumes were a distraction.

She tapped the fan gently in the palm of her hand, nervous about being seen as alone. However, there was so much more to do than talk to people. She could listen. She looked about, taking note as to the costumes, apparent ages and as much of the snippets of topics that she could overhear.
