Summer Camp Cabin ‘Lakeside’ Cabin PV Cl.

On one hand, Katrina wanted to go with Saskia, it would be nice to get to know her better. On the other hand, Lamik might want to go with her alone. They could walk around the lake maybe. It was still 7 o’clock so they had a few hours to walk before lights out. Katrina inwardly compared the pros and cons when Lamik spoke up.

“Thanks” Katrina received the compliment gratefully. A few more awkward seconds passed with no words. “Um, I would be- would like to go on a walk.” The red-head stumbled on her words and inwardly kicked herself for her stuttering.

Katrina smoothed her sleeping bag subconsciously and fluffed her pillows. She slid down from the bunk and grabbed her slip on shoes. Katrina sat on the carpeted floor and waited for Lamik to decide that he was coming or not. She sat, lost her her thoughts once again- this time the topic was a Slytherin she had met this last year.

“Oh, also, someone I met, Thora- might join our cabin soon.” Katrina spoke her thoughts. She knew it was off topic, but didn’t like the silence that overtook their cabin. Katrina stood to her feet again and waited for someone to talk.

Thora wandered throughout the grounds of Hogwarts. She had gone home to Ireland to see her family for two weeks, hoping for a happy reunion. But all she found was cold silence and disappointed family to greet her. Worse, she then had been excited to return to Hogwarts, but felt out of place. As Summer Camp had been in session for a couple weeks already, everyone already seemed to know what to do and where to go. The redhead, upon arriving at Hogwarts just mere hours ago, had been dragging her trunk behind her, searching for a place to stay. A friendly Hufflepuff she had asked (NPC character) had told her most students had chosen to stay in cabins, which were inside a boat.

Peeling blue paint and a lopsidedly-hanging parchment marked a door about halfway down a corridor. Thora walked up to it, reading "Cabin Lakeside, only two spots left." 
"Hmm--" muttered Thora under her breath. Summoning her courage, the auburn-haired girl gave a soft knock and pushed the door open just enough for her to stick her head in. "Hi, can I join you--you guys?" the redhead asked, noticing that there were already three students about her age in the room. 

OOC: Just letting you guys know, Thora took the July 14-15 train to Hogwarts, so I hope you don't mind her joining the cabin  .

Katrina let out a quite, “Oh,” as Thora entered the room.

No one had responded to the questions yet so Katrina decided to help Thora feel ‘at-home’ in this new place.

“Sure, you can join.” Katrina’s eyes saw the door and realized it said two spots left. She hastily grabbed a quill and crossed those words out and wrote ‘Full, sorry’ above that. She gestured towards the bunk, “There is the- uh- empty bed.”

Katrina was happy to see someone she had met here. So far, Katrina had spent all of her time alone reading, and she still needed to know her cabin mates better. The Gryffindor shook herself from deep in her thoughts and put on a smile that felt forced.

Katrina subconsciously placed a few things in her trunk for she hated the small mess beside her bed. “Uh, are we going to go on the walk still?” Katrina addressed Saskia and Lamik, “We could all go,” Katrina gestured this time, to Thora.

I am not sure if I am being rude. I hope not, we could learn a lot more about each other this way... Katrina found herself deep in her thoughts once again. Katrina looked back at the students and placed another fake smile on her face.

Thora stepped hesitantly into the room, cringing when Katrina let out a soft "Oh" at her entrance. 
“Sure, you can join.” Katrina greeted the Slytherin, "There is the --uh--empty bed," she added. As Thora made her way over to the vacant bottom bunk, she noticed Katrina scratching out the sign for Cabin Lakeside, changing it to "full". Thora, following whoever took the top bunk--Katrina, from the looks of it, shoved her small trunk under the bed. 
The redhead smiled at the other two in the room--a boy and a girl. Thora hadn't talked to either of them, but was pretty sure she had seen them before. After all, the first years had had their classes together the previous year. 
She glanced at the top bunk, noticing a small string of fairy lights that someone had hung up. Well, obviously it was Katrina, Thora thought to herself, as the bunk above her was marked with Katrina's name and a rather pretty cluster of trees. The young Slytherin busied herself, taking out a few of her more personal items, along with her wand, and laying them atop her bunk. 
“Uh, are we going to go on the walk still?” Katrina's voice cut into the deep silence. "We could all go," she added hastily. Thora glanced at her other cabinmates, wondering what they would say. Since the Slytherin had just arrived, she didn't know what was happening, or what had been planned.
"Um--sure, I guess?" Thora answered. She hoped she appeared friendly, but her awkwardness made it a little...hard. Obviously, she wasn't the only one--as she glanced at Katrina, whom she had just finished an errand with, had a rather pained smile gracing her face. I wonder what happened here... Thora thought. The auburn-haired girl hated being the one that didn't know what was going on, but it was bound to happen sometime. 
"Oh- by the way, I'm Thora," she introduced herself, smiling at the other two second years--they looked about her age. "Slytherin House." Hopefully, her cabinmates wouldn't stereotype her--apparently, most people disliked Slytherins.

OOC: anything sounds good (about the walk), so if we/you make or have made a decision, just shoot me an owl  

Just as Saskia was about to open the door, Katrina spoke up about wanting to go on a walk. The girl stopped in her tracks, though she didn't turn around just yet. She had originally planned to explore the campgrounds, although a walk didn't sound so bad either. Sure, it might not be as exciting, but it seemed pleasant enough. Plus, it would have been a good way to get to know Katrina a bit better, and maybe Lamik too, if he wanted to come along with them.

After contemplating on her choice, Saskia finally turned to face the girl with a smile. "Yeah, sure, we can all go out for a walk."

As she spoke to Katrina, there was a knock on the door. Saskia raised her eyebrows in surprise. Although Katrina did mention that another person would be joining, she didn't expect them to appear so suddenly. Still, Saskia quickly recovered from her initial surprise as she turned back around to see a redheaded girl. It was another person she wasn't entirely familiar with. She may have seen her in the hallways, or even in some classes, but much like Katrina, she had yet to have a proper conversation with her.

Saskia made sure to step back from the door to let the girl enter the cabin. While she let the girl adjust in the cabin, she couldn't help but feel a tense atmosphere that surrounded the room. Looking at both Katrina and the other girl, she could see that both of them appeared rather awkward, while the redhead girl seemed out of place. The Hufflepuff frowned upon seeing this. She didn't want to make things uncomfortable for everyone, especially for the newcomer. Maybe this walk would help relieve the tension in this room.

Eventually, the redhead introduced herself as Thora. It was a unique name, something that Saskia hadn't heard before. She also mentioned being a Slytherin, which didn't necessarily faze her. At this point, she had accepted the fact that houses were simply labels that grouped people into specific categories. They weren't supposed to define people, although it is easy to be influenced by other people in the same houses. She wouldn't judge Thora based on her house alone- she would have to get to know her better as a person instead.

"I'm Saskia. Hufflepuff," she replied, smiling at the girl as she tried to hide the edge in her tone. She couldn't let her frustration get to her now. It was true that she had some flak about being a Hufflepuff. Some of the meaner students weren't too hesitant on making... Comments on it. But that didn't mean she had to take it out on Thora, or the other people in the cabin. They had nothing to do with it, and they didn't seem like the type to judge her either. Or at least she hoped they weren't.

Trying to retain her cheerful demeanor, she turned to gesture to the boy who was now sitting up on the bed. "That's Lamik. He's from Gryffindor," she continued. "And I'm guessing you already know who Katrina is," she added, turning back to Thora.

"Anyway, you're all free to join me, really. We can all go out together and see where we go or we can meet up somewhere. I'm okay with whichever one." The girl shrugged, looking at everyone to see what they thought.

Thora smiled at the other second years in the cabin. "I'm Saskia. Hufflepuff," the girl that she didn't recognize said, a small smile on her face. "That's Lamik. He's from Gryffindor," the Hufflepuff continued, as the blonde boy waved with a "Hello!"

"And I'm guessing you already know who Katrina is. Anyway, you're all free to join me, really. We can all go out together and see where we go or we can meet up somewhere. I'm okay with whichever one," Saskia finished.

Thora was pretty comfortable with her cabinmates. Although there was no doubt it would be an awkward start, they all seemed pretty nice. She hadn't even met more than two people in her first year, and this seemed like a good opportunity to talk to people from other houses. 

"I'll come along for the walk." Lamik broke in, answering Saskia's question. "Is there a curfew?" The redhead ran through a series of thoughts quickly--should she go or not? Going against her introverted nature, she decided she probably should. It would be nice to learn more about her cabinmates, and hopefully clear the air of the strange silence that seemed to have fallen over the room as soon as Thora entered. 

"Sure, I'll come," Thora spoke up, hurriedly adding, "If you guys don't mind." Now that Lamik had brought it up, she hadn't heard anything about a curfew. "I'm not sure if there's a curfew either, sorry..." the redhead finished. Turning back to her bed, Thora finished unpacking as quickly as she could, shoving the rest of her belongings back into the trunk under the bunk bed. Grabbing her wand, Thora hung it on her belt like a sword and spun back around the face the rest of her cabinmates.
