Day Stroll
Opal sighed heavily as she shut the heavy doors behind her, coming out onto the castle grounds for the first time. Of course, she'd gone to Quidditch matches, but never once has she ever been out on the grounds with nothing to do. Opal inhaled the fresh, grassy scent coming from the perfectly manicured lawn, and gazed down the hill to the Great Lake. It reminded her of her small pond in the backyard, hidden by the trees so nobody, not even her parents, knew about it. She wanted to owl home as soon as she could! But alas, she had previously sent home two owls that week, and she didn't want to seem babyish for feeling homesick.
Opal strolled across the lawn, admiring the way the giant squid in the lake lazily propelled itself with its tentacles. She studied how the wonderfully red-edged leaves seemed to glitter like jewels in a cave mine, reminding her again of her parents, hours away, with her father tilling the fields, and her mother cleaning the house. Opal felt yet another pang of homesickness. She shrugged it off and mentally told herself to enjoy the time she did have at Hogwarts. Opal noticed a familiar snowy owl soaring through the mildly cloudy skies, straight towards her. She smiled and caught the package, and the owl flew off, as mysterious as it had been when it arrived. Opal began to open the package when she heard something behind her.

Day Stroll
As Selene was walking out from her common room she passed a Ravenclaw girl who looked about her year and could see that the girl seemed unhappy and a little lonely. 'It wouldn't hurt to cheer her up' Selene thought as she then followed the ravenclaw out to the grounds, Selene heard the doors open and close and waited not wanting to seem weird for following the ravenclaw girl. Selene then opened and closed the door just as the ravenclaw girl and walked down to the grounds near the lake where she saw familiar long brown hair. As she was walking down Selene looked up to the sky to see a white owl holding what looked like a package within its talons, the white owl then released it, landing in the ravenclaw girls arms ' Nice catch ' Selene thought and wished she could say out loud but was to shy to say anything. Selene then stepped closer not noticing a large stick on the floor and stepped on it resulting in a loud snapping sound. ' Uh oh' Selene thought as the raven claw girl still didn't turn around while holding her package, thinking quickly Selene decided that she explain why she was here . "I um... Hi...um... I'm very sorry to be bothering you it's just... I passed by you in the castle and you looked a little lonely and upset and I thought I could cheer you up...but if you rather be left alone I completely understand" Selene said not wanting to seem weird to the ravenclaw girl.
