partners in... dance?

Being paired with Maggie Parker to practice dancing was honestly a little.. disorienting. Although he had never really talked to her, he had always seen her in his classes, independent and confident is how he would describe her. He didn't know if he adored it, or envied it at the same time. Whatever it was, he certainly liked it.
As all of the students filled the room, finding their assigned partners and chatting away a storm. He peered into the crowd of his fellow classmates, searching for the one and only Gryffindor, Maggie Parker. He spotted her almost instantly, with her bangs covering her eyes slightly.
He approached her slowly, hoping not to startle her. She seemed to be talking to a few friends, unaware he was next to her. As he cleared out his throat, he tapped on her shoulder lightly and smiled. "Maggie.. right? I think we're partners.." He said, playing dumb. In hopes she would find him flattering, he held out his hand as the professor clapped and started the music.
If she would take it, he would dance with her slowly; because that's what you do at Balls, right? Honestly, he had no idea. He had skipped the Yule Ball last year, so he was pretty new to this.

partners in... dance?
Maggie wasn't going to act like she wasn't happy about being paired up with Grayson as dance partners. After her meeting with him on the train, she'd concluded that, yes, she liked him, and no, she wasn't about to make the same mistake with him as she did with Oliver Lock. She'd been presented with the opportunity every sane girl dreamed of: partnered up with the guy they fancied, as dance partners too. She wasn't about to screw this up. It's not like she was nervous or anything, that'd be out of the question. Maggie Parker, nervous over some guy? Pfft, never.
Okay, maybe she was a little nervous. But that didn't stop the big grin on her face when Grayson tapped her shoulder. It faltered when he mentioned that he was unsure of her name, but Maggie smiled at him nonetheless.
"Yeah, that's me. You're Grayson?" she asked, raising a brow. She wasn't looking to sound like she knew his name or anything- even if she did. She laughed a little as he held out his hand.
"What a gentleman," she sighed, placing a hand to her heart, laughing a little as she did so. She took his hand, though, and felt her heart beat a little faster in her chest. "You know how to dance, then?"

He grinned, acting to believe she didn't remember him. As she placed a hand to her heart, Grayson let out a small laugh, smiling at her sarcasm. Once she layed her hand in his, though, he pulled her closer while keeping his footwork in time with the music. Dancing wasn't.. hard, persay.. You just move a little, do a few spins, and voila! People think you're a natural.
"You know how to dance, then?" He heard her ask, meeting her eyes. He gave way to a small laugh and continued to dance with her, the heat of her hand transferring to his. Maggie, my dearest, if there's one thing l know, it's that love- is full of surprises." He quoted stupidly, half-expecting her to not get the joke.
Being a wizard born certainly had it's downfalls, but it did mean you got to watch silly muggle movies as a child with your non-magic folk. This quote had been from Shrek, dear god how much of a loser he was showed right now. Though he sweat it off, not really paying much mind to it. Hoping she didn't take the 'love' part into much thought either.
Bloody hell how embarrassing that would be..
"Hey, did you ever manage to find your snitch?" He asked, attempting lamely at small talk. It was the only thing that could come to mind right now. Well, that and how nice she looked.
