Ruby was about to leave for King's Cross station, had it not been for her squib brother, Jayden. He was blocking the door, begging her not to leave him. "She has to go." Her parents told him. "But she'll be back for Chrismas, and you can always write her." That did not sway him. Ruby's dad had to physically move Jayden for them to leave.
"I am so sorry, Mom." Ruby said. "It's not your fault he's a squib. Her mother reassured her. Something was still quite unsettling about what had happened. They had just arrived, and made it to platform 9 3/4. As she was hugging her parents goodbye, She got that "twin in trouble" feeling.
"Hey, Dad, check on Jay when you get home, and have him write me, okay? "Sure thing, Diamond." Mr. Smith said.
The train ride lasted for what felt like an eternity. Ruby made some friends, but none of them could explain to her why she felt like Jayden was in trouble.
Back home, Jayden was not okay. His twin, his best friend, had just left him for four months. Why did he have to be the squib of the family? Everyone else was a witch or wizard, even their cousins. His parents finally returned to him sobbing on the living room floor. They rushed over, his mother hold his face, telling him it would feel like time had blown by when Ruby came home. That only made him cry harder. His dad handed him some paper and a pen to write to her. He wrote two full pages, front and back to send to his sister.
Ruby was struggling without Jayden, too. They had grown up with the exact same interests, the exact same goal. Go to Hogwarts together. But He had been a squib. All those dreams of fighting evil wizards, or working for the ministry were gone. Ruby already wanted to go home. She couldn't wait for December.

Hi. I'm Autumn. Autumn Birk. I prefer to keep to myself, so if you see me, please leave me alone. But, that was the old me. The new me wants you to come invite me to a party where I'm forced to tell this story. So, I'm down my thought so I know how to tell it.
It all started during my 2nd year at hogwarts. Ironically, during potions. A slytherin girl walked up and slapped my book out of my hand, making her friends laugh. I just picked it up, and tried to ignore her. A fellow ravenclaw of mine, Aimie Ashford, did not. She stood up, and told the girl to stop. Apparently, Aimie had noticed that this girl, who I was soon to learn the name of, did this every day.
"Hey, Emma! Get off her shoulders, would you?"
Oh, Emma did not like that.
"What are you gonna do? Break out your 'Wise Guy' and tell me all the mental factors I'm playing at?"
She was rewarded with more laughter. this time, form the whole class. That shut Aimie up. she sat next to me, apologizing for making a fuss.
"I am so sorry." She said. "I know you don't like ineraction."
"Your okay," I said. "Thanks." I liked this girl already. And I did not like a lot of people.
As son as class ended, we walked towards the great hall for lunch. This was where the new me started to show. Something about Amie made me feel weirdly confident. A hufflepuff girl walked up next to Aimie, but she shooed her off.
"That's Willow Smith." She said. "She's Emma's cousin, and no longer a friend of mine."
"Why not?" I asked."
"She use confundus charm on me to help her cheat."
That was low, even for a Slytherin.
Gradually, Aimie and I got close. She showed me all her chocolate frog cards, and we talked about book characters we would date.
all of this seemed to make Willow livid. She must have told Emma, because the teasing only got worse. If Aimie wasn't by my side, I wouldn't speak. Of course I had other close friends, who I could talk to confidently, just not as close as Aimie.
By the time we graduated, we were siblings. So close, we'd been asked if we were twins. Aimie moved away three years ago though. She's visited once, but hasn't been back since. I'm still not as confident as I am with her, but I'll still go anywhere with anyone I can trust, and there's no one else to blame but her.
