Covering a yawn, Genevieve slumped in her chair. She had been sitting all morning in a far corner of the Library, secluded from the other Hogwarts students. Sleep hadn't been something she was getting much of since their arrival. Things were just too new and exciting, plus running around with her friends had been much more of a priority than getting a full night's rest. Skipping on breakfast to get some quiet time exploring on her own and checking out the books Hogwarts had to offer had been a good idea so far.

Leaning back in her chair, Evie stretched her arms over her head, violet hair falling behind her shoulders. "I wonder what the others are up to.." she mused to herself quietly. The Library had been rather quiet and not a lot of people coming or going. Some younger looking students in various house robes and a group of girls gossiping off to the side, homework lying untouched in front of them. Even if they were miles and miles away from Illvermorny, this felt like a typical sight. It made a small feeling of homesickness twinge in her stomach. She didnt have many friends back home...nor at Illvermorny. By choice. However, being away from the only place that seemed to accept her in some form when her own family never had.... it felt.... wrong.

Forcing the thoughts away, Evie listened in on a some of the conversation the girls were having. It seemed like they were talking about the upcoming ball...who was taking who, scandalous, their dresses and makeup plans. Apparently some young kids were also having a 'get ready' party. Interesting. Listening it sounded as if one of them seemed to be having a hard time choosing between three seperate suitors... poor thing.

A flash of jealousy washed over her. This girl really was bragging about having a problem choosing? She had three different guys vying for her attention.. she should feel lucky. Not everyone had that sort of circumstance. Vi wasnt even sure what her own plans were. Delia and Don were going... Owen likely was going to bring a Hogwarts girl and well... Hunter.. Another flash of jealousy. She had liked him, actually liked him, not just found him easy on the eyes, since they had met. Vi would never admit to being soft and squishy on the inside.. but something about Hunter made her feel vulnerable. She didnt like it but at the same time.. it did feel nice to not be so uptight and constantly on guard. He had always been nice to her even if they were teasing each other or giving one another a hard time over something. He had been there for her the end of last year when she tried to well.. was having a hard time. Vi may have grown up privileged and never wanting of anything.. other than her parent's acceptance. This hit hard when she had gone home the first summer only to realize her family wasnt allowed to know the real reason she was gone... couldn't know all of her wonderful grades and things she had accomplished. They would never know...and never know her.

Gritting her teeth, Vi felt a swell of past emotions bring uncorked. No no... that had to stay down. Squeezing her eyes shut she willed them away and focused back on the girls chatting away still, this time about how one of them was NOT going to be allowed to go to the ball is SOME specific dress she already had sent from home.

Hunter wiped his hands in his pants, trying to pull himself together. It started out as a joke, he was just giving the guys a hard time but then things snowballed from there and he ended up in a rough spot.

The Masquerade ball was coming up soon and pretty much everyone had a date set out for them, everyone but Hunter. He could have asked some Hogwart girl just for giggles but a part of him was tired of spending time with people who didn't even really know him.

His mistake was admitting that to Owen and Don, to which they dared him to ask out Vi, really the only female member of the friend group he hadn't dated yet. If he didn't take this dare he was at risk of a very embarrassing song getting out into the world.

Owen was the first to hear one of his songs, which was a huge mistake because now he had the ability to recite the horrible and overdramatic lyrics eleven-year-old him had thought would blow people away. Now those words were used as leverage when Owen wanted Hunter to do something.

Usually, it wouldn't be such an issue for Hunter to ask someone out but it was different when it came to Vi. She wasn't just another girl, she mattered to him and he didn't want to screw that up with her.

He seemed to be really good a screwing things up and this was one of the few things in life he had managed to keep together, he didn't want that to change.

With a thousand thoughts and worries running through his head, he walked into the Library, looking around for the familiar head of blonde hair. He slowly walked forwards, wondering if she had left or Don had given him the wrong location when he asked.

A few people were in the library today, most of the girls who seemed to be in deep conversation over something. When his eyes finally landed on her his heart skipped a beat.

He put on his signature smirk, trying to relax before she could tell something was up. "Hey, Vi." He spoke slowly, trying not to raise his voice too much in the quiet space.

Once her eyes locked with his he found himself genuinely smiling. "You saving this seat for anyone?" He teased, looking at the seat in front of her.

Another yawn was cut short by a familiar and much welcomed voice. There he was, smirk and all. It made a smile of her own flash across her violet painted lips.

"Hey, Vi."

Genevieve gave a wave and sat up a little straighter in her chair, subconsciously adjusting her sweater and skirt.

"You saving this seat for anyone?"

A sly smirk crossed her face as she leaned forward, her elbows resting on the table. "Only saved for the most handsome of men, Mr.Reyes." She teased. Vi had been hoping that he would eventually find his way here, although assumed it would be with the others. Just seeing Hunter would be a rare treat.. and definitely an enjoyable one.

"The others up to something? I haven't seen them all morning." Stretching her legs underneath the table she rested her boots on the chair next to Hunter's. "This place is huge as hell. I already had trouble getting to and from the Great Hall." She sighed. "Although there were two younger students being crazy nice to me... felt weird." Closing the book in front of her, she looked at Hunter. "Kind of nuts and I hate to admit it.. but I sort of feel homesick for Illver.. Plus my own bed." A small voice in the back of her head was nudging her 'What the hell is with the small talk? Nervous much??'

Hunter smiled and took the seat, amused as she rambled on. "Yeah, the others are just hanging out nothing special, I figured I would find you since you're such an interesting gal'." Hunter playfully nudged her foot with his own, easing up as he spoke.

He could have just asked her about her day or something else to prolong the reason he came to see her but it was eating him up inside and if he didn't get it over with there was no telling how his mental state would end up.

"Hey, look Vi I need to ask you something but before I do I want you to know that if you feel weird or you don't want to, its totally okay to say no." He rubbed his neck, trying to calm his nerves.

"We've been good friends for a while and I don't want that to change. So, uh. . . do you uh . . . well, uh." Hunter struggled for a moment before clearing his throat.

"Damn this is harder than I thought." He sighed before continuing, "Genevieve Davis will you go to the ball with me." He finally let it all out, as soon as he did though he regretted it. Not because he didn't want to go with her but because he did and he was scared she didn't feel the same way.

He started to jiggle his foot, nervous to even meet her eyes. It was out there now, there was no taking it back which was terrifying and something Hunter hasn't had to deal with for a while. Not many girls made him this nervous or flustered.

She couldn't stop grinning as Hunter took a seat. Something about being around him made her feel much calmer but anxious all at once. She felt safe but also worried about what she said, how she sounded, what she looked like. Especially the last couple months the more they were around one another.

Vi raised a brow at Hunter as he spoke. A nervous knot starting tying itself around her insides. What could he possibly be worried about? There was very little he could do of all people to really piss her off or make things weird.

"We've been good friends for a while and I don't want that to change. So, uh. . . do you uh . . . well, uh."

Trying to not laugh, mostly a nervous habit... she prodded back at his foot with her own. "No worries." Trying to reassure him but also dying inside to know what sort of news he was about to lay on her.. or ask... or who knew by the sounds of it. God, what had Don done this time? Or Owen... Instantly she became worried about her other friends being in some sort of trouble. Was that why they weren't around??

"Genevieve Davis will you go to the ball with me."

There it was. You could knock the girl over with a simple breeze, her legs felt like jelly and body froze. No don't freeze up! Control yourself! Internally she scolded herself needing to keep it together. Part of her was screaming in excitement but the other was trying to remain cool, calm.. collected. Damn.. she really wished Delia had been there to flash a look at. How could she respond? How should she... 'Okay Vi.. don't mess this up..' Trying to give herself a quick peptalk, she set her brilliant blue eyes on Hunter. He had to have meant it right? He used her full name for Heaven's sake.. Was this a joke?! She took a quick glance around waiting for Owen and Don to come laughing their asses off from behind a bookshelf.....

Nothing...
Not that she expected that from Hunter of the three boys but for sure the group of them together were known to play some serious pranks, even on her and Del. Shooting her eyes back to Hunter sitting across from her, she couldn't contain it anymore. Who cares, it was only him in here. Although she would for sure be running screaming to Delia as soon as she was able to tell her the good news, plan outfits accordingly and go over a game plan.

Leaning forward on the table she ruffled her friends brown hair and flashed him a smile, giving a slight wink. "I thought you'd never ask!" Vi could see he looked just as nervous as she felt. Holy CRAP! He had actually asked her. She settled on just playing it cool hoping it would make him feel less nervous. "You had me worried for a minute there. I thought you were going to give me some crazy flippin' news about Don getting worms." Trying to play it off, Vi gave a laugh and sat back in her chair, letting her hand slide down the side of his face and rest on his hand, a small blush flushing her cheeks.

HOLY.CRAP.SHE.WAS.GOING.TO.THE.BALL.WITH.HUNTER.
A large part of her was internally dancing around and celebrating out of control.
Finally!
