Not A Place For Hotheads
@Brielle GrayThe words on the yellowing pages of 'A History of Magic' began to blur as Jack once again lost focus on the incredibly dry material that the tome held in between its' covers. He could feel his eye begin to twitch as an annoyance, bordering on anger began to build in his chest. "Damn this stupid book." He growled under his breath and refocused on the words once again. The passage described the muggle's obsession and fear of magic in medieval times. Apparently, muggles were quite bad at recognizing it. It was amazing to Jack how easily his eyes slid off the page and to other, more interesting, occurrences around the library.
In the center of all the books and shelves, Jack had been lucky enough to find a secluded table. The boy is easily distracted, and he knew as much. The Hufflepuff finally let his eyes wander from the pages and to the shelves on shelves of books. Certain shelves were incredibly dust-filled. He figured that those parts of the library contained the most boring of books, thus he made a mental note to avoid those in particular. Sometimes he felt as if he would sneeze from the amount of dust that had been building in this room. It's annoying that dust seems to only build up in places like this. Jack thought, irritably. Shaking his head once again, he reaffirmed his willpower and dove back into the tome that sat idly on the table in front of him.

"Oh shut up!" Brielle whined, playfully punching her best friend in the shoulder. "Its not like I like him.. I just think he's nice, doofus." She remarked angrily, adverting her eyes back to her textbook. Although they came down here to study for Brielle's text the next day, they kept finding themselves distracting or goofing off. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to study with best friends.
As she rolled her eyes at a sudden thwack at the back of her head, she glanced over quickly. Brielle had been leading Grayson on she had liked a boy for a while now, though she refused to tell him who. It was funny, watching him play the guessing game without a slight bit of clue. "You really wanna know that bad?!" She shouted in his face, bursting out into laughter after realzing they were in a library.
With a red face, she ran a finger through her long black hair and pouted her lips. "Look, the only way I'd tell you is if you tell me your crush, lover boy. She said with a cheeky grin, her eyebrows raised in suspicion. It was without a doubt Grayson had his eyes on someone, perhaps it was was that one Gryff he met in the Abandoned Toilets during his prefecting duties.. though she could be wrong.
With a content smile, she glanced over at a table in the center of the Library, seating a dark haired boy her age. He looked irritated.. or at least a bit ticked off.

Being invited to study with Brielle was a.. privilege, for lack of a better word. Though really, getting to study with Brielle was great. She always had something witty to say, and her personality was unique, to say the least.
She owled him to meet at the Library 2:00 pm sharp. If you were late.. well, something bad was bound to happen. So rather afraid of what a 5'3 girl was going to do to him, he met at the desired time to find her waiting patiently at a desk. Her green eyes pierced through his soul, causing him to give a faint smile as he walked over.
She said she needed help with Dark Arts, though she really should have known he wasn't the best study buddy. The entire time, Grayson was either playing with her hair, blowing spitballs, or just annoying her in general.
As he sought after things to talk about, he remembered the ball that was coming up. Which led him even farther to remembering she liked someone. It was getting on his ever last nerve wondering who the lucky guy was that had won Bri's heart. Probably some goofy first year though.
"No, really who do you like?" He responded, mocking the same type of whine in her voice that she had. Maybe that Gryffindor she told him about.. Pierre.. Italian something. She wasn't one to really show affection, so that made it even harder to guess at her crush.
Then there came the question of the girl he liked. Dear god, how cliche. It was such a Brielle thing to do, just to spit your own words back into your face. That's why he loved her he guessed. The girl that had caught Grayson's eye though, was a second year Gryffindor. Her name was Maggie, and they met on the train. Hopefully she didn't have a boyfriend.. Hopefully..
"Gotta tell me first, love. I asked you first. Rules are rules." He replied with a shrug, matching her same raised eyebrow look.

Interacting with @Jack Warren @Grayson Ackley
"Gotta tell you first, my ass." She said stupidly, playing with the dead ends of her hair. Looking around quietly, she leaned into his ear gently. "He's a Ravenclaw!" She whisper shouted, slapping him on the back of the neck for good measure.
It was true, she did like a Ravenclaw, though she was partially certain he didn't reciprocate the feelings. Honestly, it didn't bother her too much, after all, what was the point in relationships during your first year anyway? It was like dating in middle school, it never lasts.
Though what if it did last. What if they continued to be close friends, what if it actaully all worked out like the little fairytales you saw in movies. Dear God, what has gotten into you!? She screamed at herself, hating how the thoughts sounded in her head. Since when did she get so vulnerable for love? Maybe when she saw Charlotte and Carson, and what they had. She would never admit it, but she wanted that. She wanted someone who would hold her hand every hour of the day and tell her it would be alright, she just wanted that..
And you know who she wanted that with? Gem Stuart. Yeah, she said it, Gem Stuart, the little Ravenclaw that through a hissy fit in the Study Room, that was who she had her eyes on.
Sure it was silly.. though was it really? To have feelings for another student? Perhaps she'd ask him out on a date. Perhaps she'd like that..

@Brielle Gray @Grayson AckleyThe voices of the two talking cut through the no longer silent library. The words cut through the thin concentration that he had managed to create. He closes his eyes. Just block it out- Just focus. Jack, with an exasperated sigh, tore his eyes away from the book to give the two a seething glare. How could two people be so damn loud? Anger was bubbling in his chest. All he wanted to do was study, but he couldn't even focus without the people basically screaming at each other.
'CRACK!' The history of magic had been slammed closed and the raven-haired boy pushed himself away from the desk. The chair squealed loudly against the library floor. Jack stood up the book in hand. It wasn't obvious to Jack what the reason for his extreme reaction, but he had already decided the course of action he was going to take. Each heavy footstep, he took towards the two echoed through the open area. Within a matter of nine or ten long strides, he was standing next to the two.
"Excuse me," Jack said in a soft and polite tone, "would you mind...."
'CRACK!' The book in Jack's hand slams down onto the tabletop. "...please talking quieter. I am trying to study." His voice was still unsettlingly pleasant and quiet. "Unless you'd rather take the test I have tomorrow?" He gave the most innocent, yet shit-eating grin he possibly could give. His eyes, however, betrayed his polite facade. His grey eyes shined angrily.

As she waited for Grayson to respond with who he had eyes on, she heard a ungodly screech from the same middle table she noticed earlier. Though this time he had been walking over to them. Completely clueless, Brielle had the audacity to asked what the problem is, watching him slam the table down on her desk with a slam.
"Oop, a bit temperamental are we?" She giggled, nudging Gray in the shoulder. She hadn't a clue what this boy's deal was, if anything he had just made more noise than the Great Hall during meals. Her issue with him was that he acted as if he owned the Library, which was kind of bloody annoying honestly.
Now was her time to be feisty, so she stood up with the same amount of force and mocked his posture. "I know you cheat off me in Charms class, but honestly, I didn't think you'd go so low as to asking me to take your test." She sneered in the Hufflepuff's face. It wasn't like their house, to lose temper like that. It almost.. shocked her.
"And wipe off that smirk before I wipe it off for you." She added bitterly, loving and hating the way the words tasted in her mouth.

"A Ravenclaw, huh? Never took you much for that house." He said, kind of disappointed it wasn't a house he knew quite well. Then it clicked for him, that boy she told him about before. Germ.. Gem? Gem something, he couldn't quite remember, he just knew he had the facial features of a baby bird.
He then burst out laughing, unable to believe that was who she liked. He always suspected it was that Pierre guy, she always seemed to be talking about. Or, this might just be the vain or himself, he thought it had maybe been himself as well. Though what type of best friends have crushes on each other? That's like the code, you can only be friends.
"Okay well I like Mag-" Halfway through his sentence, he was cut off though. A scrawny first year with shaggy brown hair approached their table, slamming his book in front of Brielle. He scoffed at his attempt of being intimidating, indicating it wasn't working quite well.
About to tell this kid off, Brielle jumped in faster, with that mouth quicker than her brain. He shook his head at her comment about slapping the boy. Sure, he was small, but her hitting someone wasn't the best of idea. As he frowned, he pulled her back, whispering something softly in her ear. He's not worth it, Bri.. Just ignore 'em.

@Brielle Gray @Grayson AckleyJack's grin twitched slightly, as he glared at the noisy girl. "As if I would ever cheat off you. I'm positive that a mountain troll would be able to cast a charm better than you." He retorted. As he spoke a bit of red crept onto his face. How dare she imply that he didn't do his own work! Jack's grip on 'The History of Magic' was making his knuckles turn white. The softcover of the book was starting to give way to his fingers that were now digging into it. "Also I can assure you that I can and will go much lower than just asking you to take a test for me." His voice was starting to raise. Jack made direct eye contact with Brielle. There was something deep down inside of him that just loved instigating fights.
The comment about his smirk, made him let out a loud, "Ha!" It was obvious that her threat didn't scare him. "I would like to see you try." He egged her on even more. If he was going to get into a fight, he was going to go all out. Losing all restraint on the volume of his voice, his words echoed through the library.

"Are you proposing that mountain troll is you? She spat back in his face. Now Brielle was just itching for a fight. Although she had never had been in one, she figured she knew the basics. Irritated, she pushed Grayson off of her, swatting his advice away.
"Either stay out of this, or go tell Maggie how much you love her, Gray." She told him, forgetting for a moment that he was her anchor. That he was her best friend, and she couldn't even listen to him.
"Much lower, huh?" She said in a mockingly tone, biting her lip in sarcasm. She brushed up on top of him, leaning to his ear. Though, before speaking, she slapped him straight across the face. Hoping to knock him off guard, she backed up a few steps, waiting for his next move. Part of her face fell in regret, though it was quickly replaced by confidence. That was fun!
Brielle's long locks swished behind her, causing her to tie it into a long sleek ponytail. "That was just a warm up.." She chirped, a grin of her own painted across her face. It felt good to stand up for herself, and even better to actually hit him.
Someone needs to teach this boy manners.

@Brielle Gray @Grayson AckleyAnother mocking laugh escaped his lips. What a sorry attempt to turn around his own insult. "I give you props for trying." He says coldly. It took Jack by surprise when the girl so harshly rebuffed her friend, but the thought only crossed his mind for a moment
Then Brielle closed the distance between them, causing Jack to freeze momentarily. That was not what he was expecting. Then...
Stinging white pain. This was absolutely not what he was expecting. Taking a step back, Jack brought his hands up to his face out of habit alone. It wasn't like the pain bothered him that much, but the fact that she actually had hit him made his grin fall away. The dull red fire in his chest had erupted into a roaring inferno. Now, this is pretty self-explanatory, but Jack would never hit a girl. His mum raised him better than that. Not to mention that if his mother ever did find out that he did, death would be a blessing.
Standing deathly still, Jack glared at the girl. He was at an utter loss. Jack would never hit her back, but he had to do something to get her back. Stepping forward, he recovered from her surprise attack. With quick lunge forward, Jack attempted to grab hold of her wrists.
