Closed Feeling Lonely?

Kai wandered the grounds, her deep, endless green eyes resembled a void, swirling with her own inner turmoil. She didn't understand. These were the people that abandoned her, and now that she was in Hogwarts, they were sending her letters? Before September she hadn't even known their names.

Kai had now received two letters from her parents. Not the people she had grown up calling her parents, but the people who hadn't wanted her. The people who she had never even met. Then as soon as she got into Hogwarts, suddenly they were sending a letter. Suddenly they were making her feel even more out of place, telling her she was a pure-blood when she had gone to Hogwarts believing she had to be a muggle-born.

Slipping a hand into her pocket, Kai's fingers brushed the letters. Pulling them out, she read them over again. Seething, she shoved them back into her pockets and glanced around the empty grounds.

No one else out here but me... The feeling of loneliness suddenly crashed into her, weighing heavily on her chest. Kai was startled by the crushing feeling. Usually, she loved to be alone, listening to the wind as it whispered around her, murmuring in her ears like an old friend.

Kai thought hard, trying to understand what was different, stopping in her tracks, her brows furrowing. It hit her then. She had friends here. It was only a few, but it was more than she had ever had. Of course, basically none of them knew her true nature. The harsh words that could slide off her tongue as easily as breathing, the cold, empty look in her eyes when she was mad, her genuine smile, harsh and creepy.

She tried to shake off the thoughts, tilting her head slightly, letting the sound of the wind fill her ears. She took deep breaths, and let the lonely feeling sit on her chest, and found that she could manage it. The wind lifted slightly, as though comforting her, and she let her eyes slid shut, letting out a soft sigh, her fidgeting hands stilling at her sides.
