General The Hufflepuff Table 2019-2020

"Huff?.." He quietly muttered to himself, still taking in where he was and just the sheer amount of people on the Hufflepuff table. After getting to the table he smiled brightly instantly feeling at home This was the right house for me.. he thought to himself . He kept shifting his eyes to find a empty seat that he could take.

Finally he saw one and started walking towards it. Before actually sitting down he gulped and hoped the people sitting either side of him were nice, or at least not mean. He pushed up his glasses and nodded to the both of them before sitting down. His eyes widened as he finally noticed just the amount of food there was here. for a moment he lost himself as he quickly stretched forward to grab what he could starting with the turkey and finished with a few bits of veg.

He took a bite of turkey and sighed in relief as his hunger was about to go away. As he dug into his meal.. more like a trough of food he glanced up and felt the radiance of happiness Surrounded him, in this one hall there was not an upset person, everyone was happy and excited, conversing with each other. he knew not every day will be this bright and that there would of course be glum days but this looked like a really good beginning. Looking to everyone he blurted "so.. is this what you expected" he didn't really aim it at anyone as he didn't mean to say it out load

Aphrodite giggle at the comment about 'rabbit food'. She got it quite a lot, actually. People weren't mean about it, but they did definitely say something when they saw her eating a meal fully vegetarian. Aphrodite didn't mind it, her being Vegetarian, that is. There wasn't a big story behind it, she wasn't one of those people who screamed their head off if they saw meat, she just chose it because it was healthier, and better for the environment.

"I guess not, heh. Meat just doesn't appeal to me I guess." She had replied, taking a sip of her orange juice. As she glanced back up at the front of the Great Hall, the hat now placed on a new student, it loudly called out a sweet name. A name she thought so fondly of..

"Hufflepuff!" It cried out, the name echoing off the walls. As the student stepped down easily, he strided over to their table, taking a seat next to Aphrodite. Thy looked overwhelmed, their face scanning the table in front of them. As they grabbed a few pieces of food and placed them on the platter in front of them, they spoke lightly, directing their words to no one in particular.

"Yeah, only the actual experience is better than what I imagined." She gushed, smiling back at the fellow Hufflepuff.

Munching on carrot, Leah listened in as the students nearest her discussed the food and something about meat. Her mind was elsewhere, however, as she spotted a delicious looking plate of potatoes. Unfortunately, it seemed to be on the other side of the three students having a conversation.

The girl, who had lighter hair, seemed to be eating only salad, and Leah suddenly understood what the conversation.

Another person being sorted distracted her for a moment as she turned to clap for a few seconds. When she returned her gaze to the potatoes, they seemed to be all the more appealing.

Looks like she'd have to interrupt.

"Sorry," she cut in, her attention still almost solely on the plate of potatoes. "Would you mind passing me those potatoes?"

As she said the word, her hunger seemed to multiply, and she heard her stomach groan as it lamented how far away those potatoes were.

Great. Now she felt like she had an obsession with potatoes. But they'd be just wonderful with her baked beans... and she could sprinkle some cheese on top...

She had to stop thinking about food, or her stomach would implode. Here she was, in the heart of Hogwarts itself, and she was waxing poetry about those beautiful, buttery potatoes!

Jack gave a devilish grin at the girl sitting next to him. At least he wasn't starting a fight. A giggle is a good sign, right? That's when he heard the request for potatoes from further on down the table
Potatoes? How had Jack missed those potatoes? "Oh! Sure! I can't believe I didn't grab some earlier!" His gaze shifted from the girl sitting next to him, to the girl that asked for the potatoes, to the incredibly appetizing looking potatoes. Reaching towards the plate of starchy, buttery, root vegetables, Jack's stomach growled again like a starving animal. If this is how they fed the students of Hogwarts every day, they'd have to roll him around the school by the end of the month. Pulling the plate closer he added, "By the way, I'm Jack. Jack Warren. You probably knew that- From the sorting - that just happened." The black-haired boy proceeded to drop a large helping of potatoes down onto his plate, before passing it down to the girl who had asked for it.

Thankfully Jack wasn't the only one who had more eyes for the food around them, than the very obviously magic-filled Great hall. He gave a devilish grin at that thought. "I don't know about you all, but this is actually the first time I've been away from my home town. Now that I'm here it feels like I've just started some big fantastic journey or something."

Blu looked up in shock for a few seconds before realising someone had herd and answered his question. In embarrassment he nervously laughed and replied "I agree this is so much better that what my mum said it would be like" he took a swing from the water in front of him and smiled to her slowly starting to get used to all his surroundings "so... are both your parents wizards or you know is it just the one?" He hoped he hadn't overstepped as this was just the second thing he had said to her. As he waited for her response he had another dig at his plate, scoffing the meat and veg, washing it down with water so that he could breathe.

His head turned to the male student that asked a question and feeling more settled in he responded "Honestly if you don't count moving house than yeah this is the first time, its definitely the first time iv'e been so far from my family and friends... but here i'm hoping to make more, if that didn't sound too cheesy" Smiling he look up to the ceiling and sighed with happiness before looking down back to everyone and thought This is gonna be one bad ass school year

Thanking Jack, Leah took a large helping of potatoes and dug in immediately. By the time she was able to speak again, her mouth no longer stuffed with those delicious vegetables, she released a satisfied sigh and rejoined the conversation.

"It really does feel like an adventure!" she exclaimed. "And yeah, making friends is near the top of my to-do list. My older siblings have been here, and they said it would be amazing, so I really can't wait - except I don't really have to now, because I'm here!"

Stabbing another potato with her fork, she shook her head in wonder. It was truly surreal just to be here, under the same roof where so many others had felt just like her, and studied here, and had such adventures.

Would she have one too? Would she be pulled into the depths of some mystery? Or would the spirit of the school be enough to keep her gazing at this starry ceiling every night?

"I bet Hufflepuff will be awesome," she commented. "Everyone here is supposed to be fair and kind, right?"

The last potato had already vanished from her plate, and she realised she hadn't tried her baked-beans-and-cheese combination yet. Well, only one thing for it:

She took another helping.

Annie made her way down a row in between some new faces, probably first years upon entering the dinning hall a tad late doing who knows what. "Ah darn I missed the ceremony, hope Browne doesn't find out.." She shook her head and glanced around for their well-known head of house before stopping behind a younger boy. "Excuse me, but can I join your little group, I can't find my friends, because I was late..." Her voice drifted off as she mumbled the last part to herself before looking back up to the black-haired boy.

Annie saw a few shuffle down before she sat her butt down on the bench. Her nose caught the enticing smells around her and she eyed the potatoes being passed around. They have the best potatoes here, no doubt in my mind." She grinned before turning to those around and next to her. "I'm probably not the first to say this, but welcome to Hogwarts, your first years I presume?"

Annie tilted her head towards them in question, waiting for a response before reply. "Oh yeah, I'm Annie Morgan, second year and a chaser on the quiddich team, pleasure to meet you all!" She puffed up her chest in a little bit of pride, but not in a boastful way. The girl saw the potatoes stop in front of her and she took the opportunity to take some before attempting to grab some other food on the table. "Curse my short arms.."

"I am not sure about fair and kind, but at least it seems like everybody is putting on a nice face. That's all I care about, really." Jack says, scooping another large portion of food into his mouth. At this point, the boy was already on his third helping of food. It's rather surprising the amount of food he was consuming considering his lithe form.

Inopportune timing strikes again! Annie's request made Jack jump slightly. Just as he's about to answer her question, Jack's manners kicked in. He quickly swallowed his mouthful of food. "Ye-Yeah- of course," he pauses to hastily wipe his mouth again. "Don't worry, I'm late all the time. Plus isn't the point of this to meet new people?"

Scooting over to let Annie in, Jack gave her a grin. "Yup!-and Thanks for the warm welcome." Jack pauses for a moment as Annie introduces herself. "Well Annie, I am Jack Warren." He reintroduces himself, "Quidditch? I think that I might try out for the team next year. To be honest, I just learned about the sport" As he responds, Annie's struggle to reach some of the food did not escape him. Casually, he reaches over and pulls the platter she was reaching for closer to her.

Leah looked over at Annie. "Woah! You're on the team? That's so cool! I'm not really good at Quidditch, but I do love it."

After adding beans to her quickly filling plate, she added: "And I'll totally be there to cheer you on at tryouts if you go for it, Jack."

As she searched for the cheese, her eyes fell on one student, who was reading a letter. She wondered how long it would be before her family or friends sent her a letter, too. She didn't have an owl; they had one loyal family owl, Thalia, who they all shared. Perhaps Thalia was always swooping through the trees, heading towards this old, grand school where she was staying.

The image filled her mind, and Leah suddenly had the urge to paint it. She'd use watercolours, and maybe form rain with her brushstrokes, and-

But then she glimpsed some grated cheese, and her thoughts were back on getting food.

"Hey, would you mind passing the cheese?" she said to some boy she hadn't yet spoken to. He obliged. "Thanks."

She sprinkled the cheese on her potatoes and beans and tried the combination - and it was epic. Finally happy, she looked back up to the people she was talking to as she ate.

Blu smiles as he passes the cheese "no problem" he looks back down to his plate and laughs nervously "guess I'm gonna need more.." his nervousness quickly turned to glee as he started to grab at things again piling up on his plate. Remembering what the girl asked he said "yeah I'm a first year, my names Blu. It's a pleasure" digging into his food again he thought about quidditch and the finesse needed to be any good at it and before long he quickly shook his head knowing that his chances at being good at quidditch let alone broom riding generally would be really low.

Looking up at the 2nd year he said with a half full mouth if creamy potatoes "so.. what's it really like here? Does it get better or?.." he kinda felt bad for asking because it sounded like he was disappointed but in actual fact he was more curious as to what real Hogwarts life was like, the classes, the spells even the environment outside, how different was it to normality and what wonders were to be seen. He had gone from shy boy at the table to a kid filled with wonder like their first time at Disney land. If Disney land had magic
